Hallo zusammen,

This site is wonderful
thank you both for all the hard work in putting it together.

Your site has always seemed to me to be the most accurate of all. I am currently involved in professional astrology and quite often use your site as a problem solver when any disputes arise, especially on Time Zones. Recently I have run into a city that may be in the wrong time zone in your database. The name of the city is Abington, PA. It shows it in the Alantic Standard Time Zone, or h4w, I believe it should be in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, or h5w. Place let me know what is correct for future references. You site is very well put together and I have a great deal of admiration and respect for your hard work. It is truly a Reference Book Online, that is always on my bookshelf. Kudos on the hard work...

columbus, USA --- Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at 03:56 Swiss time
Alois adds: If you look at the (green) timezone abbreviation on top of the
timezone map, you will find that it says EDT which means Eastern daylight time.
Technically this is equivalent to Atlantic standard time (4 hours west of
Greenwich) but this is true for all daylight time periods: timezones shift
temporarily to the east, only to return to normal in autumn.
The yellow bubble in the map also indicates 'DST' for daylight savings
time, and if you click on the map, you get a full page of explantion.
I do not know how to make it more clear.
Does the Astrodienst charting process take into consideration daylight savings time? Do I need to subtract an hour from my birth time since I was born during the summer in the USA?

Thank you for your wonderful site! I, too, like Jim Hardt wrote in the feedback before me ("I wish your site would allow doing relationship charts to study complementarity between two different people....") am interested in comparisons of people.
I did not have an ephemeris for the decade I was researching and was glad to find this source! I able to generate a chart quickly, and I found that the person I was researching had some striking attributes that explained the magnetism of the personality!

Relationship Charts are my big interest!
I wish your site would allow doing relationship

different people.
All of your chart options were limited to just one

Could you please add the capability to do relationship charts? Please!

Alois adds: Jim, it was somewhat annoying that in addition to writing the
guestbook entry you sent triple emails to the every listed member of the staff.
Please allow us to provide a FREE service without this kind of pushing.
An interactive web interface is not a trivial programming task if it goes beyond filling
an email form; a two person chart needs two independent atlas/timezone
lookups which is quite complex, as web pages have no memory from one
page to the other. This is why currently we have only
one-person charts in the free service.
You can download a free astrology program from the web (see our LINKS pages)
and use it on your computer to do synastry. You can still use our online
service for convenient atlas/timezone lookup for the charts you run in your
local software.
Enjoyed your site very much & learned a great deal. Thanks!

Liebes Team.

The chart calculated does not seem to reflect the war time that was in effect in the US at the time of my birth. War time ended in US on Sept. 30. I just had my chart done recently for the first time in a long time and the war time difference changed house positions of several planets. Is the claculation different than the difference for daylight savings time. The acronym was DSZ. I can't easily find references for this time calculation.
Thanks in advance,

signs can be grouped in three qualities cardinal, fixed and mutual; houses

demonstration about how limited Sun-sign astrology is. My strong Saturn gets
confused with Scorpio.
If you are tired of guessing, it is 7 March 1950, 9.15, Regensburg, Germany.
In Japan, they have found the 13th zodiac, the Snake Charmer which is people who were born in the first couple weeks of Dec. This changes the entire zodiac. My birthday is Jun 25th which would be Cancer but with this new zodiac I become Gemini. I find the characteristics of the Gemini more closer to who I am than that of Cancer. I wonder if you have heard of the 13th zodiac and if you do, then which version is accurate?

Tokyo, Japan --- Thursday, June 25, 1998 at 08:28 Swiss time
Alois adds: There are many fixstar constellations on the sky, and more
than the 12 classical constellations touch the area of the ecliptic where
the planets move. One of these additional constellations is the Snake Bearer
which is known (and named) since antiquity. This is nothing new at all.
The 12 zodiacal signs of astrology are something rather distinct from the
fixstar constellations. The zodiacal signs serve as a system of measurement,
where each 30 degree sector on the ecliptic is named after one of these 12
signs. Instead of saying 'Venus is at 273 degrees' one says 'Venus is
at 3 degrees of sign ten, or 3 degrees Capricorn'. There is no reason
at all to change astrology's naming convention. Western astrology is not
about fixstars anyway.
If you want to use a fixstar based zodiac, you should turn to Indian (sidereal)
astrology. About this branch of astrology I have nothing to say, I do not
practise it. But even siderealists use 30-degree signs which only roughly
coincide with zodiacal constallations, and do not consider the snake bearer
as relevant.

i am confused regarding my chart. i have had it done several times and have not been given any clues to my future. it is all so vague and unspecific that it means nothing. can anyone honestly anyone give me some sort of facts that do not cost a credit card number? i am a very intelligent, 22 year-old woman whom did not cut it in the nutrition sales business, but booms in the management industry of restaurants. i am only searching for direction, ohterwise i would never dream of writing this personal info on the internet, where most preverts hunt! thanks for the venting! sincerely, the woman of your dreams you'll never meet....

I was wondering how you know if two charts are compatible. I did my chart and another I know and they are very similar, alot of the same planets are in the same houses but some are moved over just one. The aspects are all alike we are both a libra rising although I am an aries. Its creepy and I'm wondering if I've found my mate for life or my enemy. What do you think? Alois adds: Thank you for your kind comment.
The quadrants relate to the hemispheres, and the houses.
Roughly one considers lower hemisphere (below horizon) as interior
world, upper hemispehere as exterior world.
Eastern hemisphere (Ascendant side) is 'me' side, western hemisphere
(descandant side) as 'you' side.
The quadrants are combinations of both axis, interior-exterior, me-you.
The chi symbol is the asteroid Chiron.
First of all my sincere thanks for the fantastic tool you have provided on the web. In my natal chart, I have a kite formation (grand earth trine of Uranus/Pluto conjunct, Sun, and Ascendant with neptune in scorpio at my midheaven). I am interested in determining any dates where a trine of two planets in Pisces and Cancer occur between 25 - 27 degrees. This would complete a grand sextile (6 pointed start) formation. I have found a handful of dates in my trusty ephemeris (a flurry of which occur this summer), but believe the calculations would be handled more efficiently with the computer. Any suggestions? Just a note to say "thank-you" for the great site, including your dedication to the science, as evidenced by your providing free calculation of natal charts. I am a research astrologer, with a focus on synastry and composites, and it's a fun site to go to, to relax and "play"! (After 24 yrs. of study, I still get that same feeling of excitement when casting a natal chart for the first time, which is why your service is so very important in getting people interested in the subject.) I didn't get the opportunity to check out the entire site, but I did not see any declinations included in the natal charts I requested. What are your opinions re: their significance in natals? Thank-you again for all of your work!

Wow! This is a lot of fun! Got a question for you... I have a perfect Jupiter/Pluto opposition - would I be crazy to put Jupiter on the IC, thereby elevating Pluto to the top of the chart? (it's already pretty high in the 10th house).

Thanks Alois!
Now, would you be able to direct me to a chart for time zone differences around the USA?
Linda Van Zant
in Boise, USA --- Friday, June 12, 1998 at 16:11 Swiss time
Alois adds: You don't need it. Run your own chart on our server, make a note
of the UT in the timezone page.
Now change the place to where you want the relocation for, enter
your own date and time, press update timezone. Now chek the difference between
the UT displayed now, and your original one you had written down.
Play around with the birth hour (sometimes
even the date by plus/minus one day) until the UT for the relocation place
comes out the same as the one you noted before. Then you are done: the
relocation chart has the planets at exactly the same position as the
normal birth chart, but the houses correct for the relocation place.
Many thanks for such easy access to charts! I hope that you can clarify for me how to enter the birth data so that relocation charts can be generated... as it is, Saturn, which is pretty heavy in my chart, rests very near the IC... I wouldn't mind a little relief, if you know what I mean. My specific question is: should I adjust the birth time to the local time when I enter it?
Linda Van Zant [ not up yet ]
Boise, ID, USA --- Friday, June 12, 1998 at 16:00 Swiss time

For a relocation chart,
you should adjust the birthtime in such a way that the same UT (Universal time)
comes up as in your normal birth chart.

Thank you for the information. I use SolarFire (USA) as my engine. My 4/27/52 Joliet 8:06p CDT birthdata is different here than my program. I actually came here hoping to verify correct Time Zone for the birthdata of Bobby Labonte, famous American racecar driver, who I did an article on for American Astrology magazine. After accepting the article and waiting almost a year for publication, they claim the Time Zone for his data (5/8/64 in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA at 8:21p) was not CDT but CST, and chose not to publish the article.I could not get a clear view here whether that is correct or not?! Anyone here know which time zone is correct? Thank you at Astrodienst and any readers with knowledge in advance. EJZ / The NASCAR Astrologer.

But do you have any idea how she ( my teacher) came up with my moon in Cancer (I feel more like a Gemini actually that your chart reads) and the Empemeris reads. Hello,
Thanks for the beautiful chart with my data on it... Is there a way to find out what it all means ?( preferably within this site ?) I'm no atrologist, but simply an end-user and was wondering what these figures could tell about myself. I like to look at them, though, but they don't make any sense to me.
Best regards,
Marieke

Wow, this is a fantastic site -- an astrologer's
dream come true!! You guys should at least get
the Nobel Prize. I do have one question -- your
positions for the progressed 10th house vis-a-vis
my own calculations for the progressed Midheaven
show a discrepancy of about 25 minutes. Is there
an explanation for this? (My calculations --
actually, Astro Communications' -- progressing
the natal Midheaven by solar arc, are about
25 minutes of arc ahead of your calculations.)
Do you not use solar arc? Do you distinguish
between the Midheaven and 10th cusp?)
