To Liz Greene and Alois:
I ordered this month the psychological horoscope, and wanted to
congratulate you for such a great job!
However, I have one issue with the psychological interpretation
you makewith any factor in the natal chart that is related to the
11th house: it seems like friendship and common goals to improve
humanity are the only factors that you consider with respect to this
house. But no one seems to consider another important part of this
*Aquarian* house, which is Science. Especially in the part of the
horoscope that deals with Character and Shadow, where (like in my
case) we have opposite tendencies such as affirming your personality
versus sharing with the group, and one very natural way to avoid
this kind of conflict without falling into the denial-trap would be to
adopt the scientific, rather than the friendship part of the
Aquarian/11th house spectrum.
Isn't Science more at ease with individualistic concerns if
confronted to the ego/altruism dilemma?

I want to order a report but there are a few things i'm concerned about that
i want to make sure are addressed. in the next few years, as far as i can
tell, all (censored) breaks loose between my chiron transits, saturn
transits, angular eclipses and progressed moon and venus. I know it's a lot
to ask, but that's what's going on. If you have a report that addresses this

consultations available - in los angeles?
thank you for your advice.

Alois adds: Please search google for 'synodic period moon'. In the average, it
lasts 29 days, 12 hours, and 44 minutes. Because the lunar orbit is highly
irregular, the actual time varies between 29d 6h 35m and 29d 19h 55m (during
the years 1900 - 2100).
Astronomers begin a lunation cycle with each New Moon, not with the Full
Moon.
The rhythm of the tides is very complex, because the Sun influences them as
well, and of course the particular situation of the coast line and your local
body of water.

I have a personal qs, if you could not post/publish it but only reply to my
email that would be great. Its a personal question and I understand that you
may not want to analyze it, but I just wanted to ask opinion. I am a Gemini
girl (moon in Scorpio), and I had a long loving relationship with a Leo man
(moon in Scorpio). However, we belong to an eastern culture where marriages
are primarily arranged. His marriage got arranged to a Cancer girl (moon in
Libra), and seems really happy.
I want him to be happy, but I was wondering,
I always thought that Leo's are more compatible with Gemini in long run than
with Cancer? :(
Thank you.

Alois adds: Please be aware that an astrological analysis which is only
considering the sun signs is limited in scope. There are too many
other factors in the birth horoscope, and in most cases they count more
then the sun signs.
But if you want to read something intelligent about sun sign compatibility,
why don't you try on this website:
Free Horoscopes -> Astrology for Lovers
Here is your ex-lover's particular case of Leo (male) with Cancer (female). You will find it easy to get more details and to play around with the

You should consider yourself lucky not to be married at 19. Continue
your education and professional training, this is much more important at this
age than getting married.
This brief interpretation of my natal horoscope is not at all
accurate/compatible with the interpretation done for me, by my esteemed
astrologer, Elizabeth Racine, here in NY, USA.
Also, the transits and forecasts are incredibly negative, too!
A generalized/ frightening example of 'future events', imparts a NEGATIVELY
SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE to the horoscope it is awful! This cannot be viewed as
productive/proactive for anyone seeking astrological guidance, in any or all
areas, of one's life. Its easier to say: why bother to do anything, it won't
work-out, anyway! Besides, having serious medical issues continuing
this year all I can say is if I listened to your forecasts.... well, maybe
its better to just give-up? Never! Never! Never!

einzigen tag stattfinden.
dennoch weiterhin viel erfolg.

One can identify a significant number of signs of attraction given by
sinastry interactions between planets. But signs of that special attraction,
with a special touch... I believe this kind of attraction lives mostly in
Moon-Venus interactions, cause it may means one person strongly attracting
the other's emotional nature, leading to the Moon person feeling completely
attracted by the Venus person, and not vice-versa. One problem could be that
not vice-versa...
I also believe that what we need is some opposition, rather than some
conjunction, as we will find, in the opposed to us, the place in which we
will suite smoothly - our place.
See you!

In reply to Miguel: Your question is perceptive and interesting! The chart
ruler certainly has extra 'weight' in the chart but other planets (especially
falling on the Ascendant/Midheaven/Descendant) in your chart may play a
bigger role.
For men, generally speaking, the Moon in your chart will show a woman who can
answer your (sometimes unconcious) emotional needs Venus in the chart will
show the outward characteristics of women you're attracted to. It would be
ideal to have the Moon/Venus in sympathetic signs then there would be no
conflict between your emotional/physical responses. In turn your partner's
Sun and Mars would reflect you pretty accurately. However, life is seldom
this perfect! Elements can be important particularly if there is a missing
one - i.e say you have no planets in water signs, you will find your life
full of watery, emotional people, since we are deeply attracted by
characteristics we lack entirely in ourselves. The great mystery of
attraction can never be explained solely by astrology but it may keep you
busy for years. Good luck with your search.

Hi everyone! Hope everybody is happy!
By identifying the type of my natal chart, can I discover the astro that
rules my astral nature ? If so, may I assume that the ruler and the sign
ruled by the ruler are of the most importance to me ? And if so, would it be
too risky to say that if I discover a woman whose ruler:
1) is in the sign ruled by my ruler
2) rules the sign where my ruler is ...
... than I would be able to rule ( take care ) of her heart, and she would be
able to take care of mine ?

Of course, Astrodienst is a valuable resource for star watchers all over the
world. I wish so much you would incorporate in your precise calendars a
sidereal ephemeris identical to the 3000 years of the Swiss tropical
ephemeris. Is this possible? It is the primary reason I do not order any of
the excellent reports by Robert Hand, which I did in the past. When I began
using the Vedic natal chart, I knew empirically that was who I was, and that
the Western chart was not me, so it is necessary for me to subtract from the
tropical ephemeris the 21º for the Lahiri ayamsha. I would like to see
Astrodienst bridge the East-West astrological planetary movement.

Hello Team,
My question is two-fold: How can I determine where an eclipse falls in my
chart? Suppose that the moon is in my 5th house at the exact time that an
eclipse occurs. But then about 5 hours later, the moon moves into my 6th
house. Which house is the eclipse considered to have occured in? Secondly,
I noticed that some days the Extended Daily Horoscope will tell me that my
moon has moved into a particular house, let's say the 7th house , yet the
activity period for the Moon in the 7th house is listed as starting on the
following day? Why is this? Does it have to do with the how close the moon
is to the 7th house cusp?
Thanks for your help,

Alois adds: The Ascendant is the degree of the ecliptic rising in the east, at
the time and location of your birth.
This is a fact of nature, an astronomical fact. There is no room for opinions
about what your Ascendant 'should be'.
If the natal data are entered correctly
- this is what you do - and the chart is computed correctly - this is what
we do - then there is nothing to discuss about what your ascendant is.
Most likely, others have computed your chart incorrectly, probably due
to an error with the timezone.
You are however at 28°21' close to the end of Capricorn with your Ascendant.
If you change your birth time from 12:48 to 12:54 am, then you get Aquarius. I would
not recommend such a manipulation of birth time, though.

Hi
One of my current long term influences is Saturn Sextile Jupiter, which I can
feel working and I am taking full advantage of it - I am so pleased that it's
happening now, but I am a little worried, because the interpretation says
what you build will have an enduring quality that will help you withstand any
heavy crises that may arise in the future . Does this mean that after Saturn
is Sextile Jupiter that something terrible may happen?
I am trying not to panic about it.
Regards

Jessica S h e p h e r d
Birmingham, Great Britain --- Sunday, November 14, 2004 at 11:31 Universal Time
Alois adds: You seem to have indeed a terrible problem: You project negative meaning into
a text where there is none. Even in the bloom of May, you love to worry about
freezing to death in the next winter. One day, the sky will fall onto your head if you
don't work on changing that attitude.
Saturn sextile Jupier: A foundation for success
During this time you should work very hard to take advantage of every
opportunity for growth and expansion that presents itself. This
influence gives you the ability to work very hard and patiently in
building up your life. It is not a period of flamboyant expansion, but
what you build will have an enduring quality that will help you
withstand any heavy crises that may arise in the future. This influence
requires that you work for these results, but it does not provide the
drive to work. It merely gives you opportunities to work effectively.
Its effects are so subtle that this period could pass without making
much of an impact.
This influence favors most business and professional activities. You
have the ability to handle the broad, general planning of projects as
well as the details. You can work on projects that you might be too
impatient to work on at other times. This will impress your employers
and other superiors, and you will find their good will useful as you
advance in your work.
This is also a favorable period for intellectual and spiritual growth,
because now you can see the restrictions in your life as elements that
provide form and structure, not just as obstacles to total freedom. In
a very real way, your life derives its form and individuality as much
from what you cannot do as from what you can do. This influence gives
you the ability to see the structure of your life in such a way that you
can gain more control over it. Whatever your long-range goals are, you
will be able to build a foundation for success at this time. Don't
waste this opportunity.

When one is used to live in a country with an extend richness of languages,

Alois adds: Dear Peius, I fear your anti-Spanish language politics tends to
overshadow your ability to reason.
I have of course nothing against Catalan as a language and as an important
carrier of YOUR culture,
that you speak it, dream in it, teach it or that your local writers and poets
write it.
But the content of our horoscopes is originally written in English, NOT in
Catalan and NOT in Spanish. Whoever is not capable of understanding the
original language, will need to read a translation.
I am sure that every educated person in Catalonia reads Spanish VERY well.
So, if
a translation has to suffice, why not the one which already exists in Spanish?
If any additional effort should be made, then this effort should be to enable
your people to read the English original. Teach them English!
Only that way they will percieve the original
meaning of the authors in a perfect way.
Not yet another translation is needed, but more learning of other languages at your
schools.
Dear Sir / Madam,
I'm an old user of your program and although I understand english and other

have so far invested into Spanish translations - we will be happy to hire
a translator for Catalan. Or should we say Valencian?
While we are at it: any sponsors for Swiss German or Austrian German out
there?

This website is a wonderful service. I have found it gives me wonderful
guidance in between readings. Over the years I have ordered several reports
unlike some of the readers in the messages, I have found them accurate and
precise. I order the solar return report annually and note highlights of the
month near the transits. Thanks for providing a universal site that helps so
many, the complainers and appreciative among us.

if this was an email from astrodienst.
Thanks
PS I should mention that I sent a similar email to the address listed above

There is some problem with hotmail.com which garbles our messages.
It does not happen wioth our german test accounts which we have also at
hotmail.com, it seems to happen only with english language accounts.
My apologies.
We will resend the same message as 'text only' soon.
PS on Thursday: we found out what the problem was. A software bug in
hotmail's email processing. Our phone number, which was at the bottom of the
letter, evoked the scrambling when it was written like ++41-1-392 1818.
When it was written as ++41 1 392 1818 without the -, the message remained
intact in hotmail. Sadly, we found this out a day to late, after considerable
experimenting to find the root of the problem.
Shame on whoever owns
hotmail.com - they are famous for their software bugs. I would sink into
the ground with shame if my software was as faulty as Bill Gates'.

Hallo,
ich habe zwei Fragen.
Werner Hesienberg. Ich habe in einer Spektrum der Wissenschaft Biograhie eine
andere Geburtszeit gefunden, nämlich 16:45, also nachmittags, bei Ihnen ist
es aber 4:45 früh.
Was ist denn richtig?
Kennen Sie die Geburtszeit von Kurt Gödel (28.4.1906, Brünn=Brno)?
Danke schon im Voraus!

I LOVE your site! Have discovered a lot about myself through this site. One
thing I have not been able to figure out is what does true node mean? It is
on my chart in the seconde house along with taurus. What is significance of
true node?
Thanks a million!

I enjoy your forecasts tremendously - better than any I have encountered. I
wondered how I could go about using a solar chart (sun sign on cusp of first
house) so I could compare what comes up with the true natal chart that I now
use. Thanks for any help you can give. Ann

Alois add: Simply enter a second natal data record, where you play a bit with
the time (around sunrise time) to get the Ascendant to the degree of the
Sun.
It is easy, because our data entry page shows already the degree of the
Ascendant.
Hi,
Your website is no doubt very interacive. But it gave me a 100% wrong birth
chart. As I hail from a familiy of astrologers from India, Calcutta, I could
immediately understand the faults.
My Ascendant is 28 degrees Aquarius and not 21 deg Pisces. Moreover the
position of planets in the signs and degrees occupied is totally wrong. I can
understand that Ascendants do change with Placidus or Regiocentric or
Geocentric or Topocentric or Polyequatorial systems of house division. But
changes in the planetary degrees and signs was unpardonable because it is
astronomically determined.
I would like to know from you on this.
Thank you.

Calcutta, India --- Saturday, November 6, 2004 at 21:30 Universal Time
Alois adds: Apparently you and your teachers are not aware that Hindu astrology uses a different
zodiac than Western astrology.
Hindu astrology uses a zodiac based roughly
on some fixed stars (different Hindu astrologers are in serious disagreement about which one of
several such choices is the right one for them)
The tropical zodiac
used by western astrology is based on the equinoxes - it starts at the spring
equinoctial point with zero degree Aries. This is the same zodiac astronomers
use to express ecliptic coordinates.
Please see the FAQ section Why do I have
a different sun sign in Indian astrology? A link in the FAQ will show you
how you can set up charts at astro.com with some of the most common Hindu-style zodiacs. We do not
recommend it, but it is possible.
Please try to have your Hindu astrologers
open their eyes to the fact that other concepts than their own exist in the
world of astrology. It's an "unpardonable" shame they seem so badly informed about an essential
element of their craft.
PS: Ascendants do not change with the choice of house system, by the way.
The Ascendant is the degree of the ecliptic rising in the east at the given
time and place. It is a fact of nature, there is no way to choose it
differently, except by getting yourself reborn.
But a different coordinate system measures that astronimocally well defined degree differently, of course. Therefore,
the Hindu sideral zodiac differs for the Ascendant just as well as for the
positions of the planets.
Wow! 100% accurate! K

My birthplace Goose Bay, Labrador, 2330 pm birth (Oct 14 1963) is generating
a standard time of 200 am....Labrador is not on Newfoundland time which is
1/2 hr different from Maritime Standard Time...can this be corrected so that
I can get a true chart reading done...I've just stuck in Halifax, NS at this

Alois adds:
Labrador is part of New Foundland politically, but it has a different timezone
history.
Until 15 March 1966, Labarador was on 3h30 west; since then it is
on 4h west. It differs since then from the main part of NF.
Labrador also oberserved daylight saving time rules, though occasionally
deviating from the other parts of NF.
In October 1963, Labrador (and the rest of NF) was on DST until 27 October.
Therefore the date you mention has an effective timezone of 2h30 west.

Immediate P. S. to my recent posting: At the same time I am finishing the
transiting Pluto inconjunct Mercury, Chiron is completing its opposing
transit to Mercury. This may help to clarify why I need more information.
Robert Hand's book does not include Chiron transits either. I repeat, I am
feeling this (these) transits strongly, but need help in understanding the
feelings.

Alois adds: The transits readings in our online Daily Horoscope have been
extended and include Chiron transits. The Chiron readings have been created by
Astrodienst staff writers, not by Robert Hand.
Regarding your other questions: I recommend to look through the astrological
literature, to find somethign about 150° transit aspects, if those interest
you. None of our authors has written about them.
I just discovered your feedback site when I was searching for information on
transiting Pluto inconjunct Mercury. For information on transits, I swear by
Robert Hand's Planets in Transit book, but unfortunately he does not include
transiting inconjuncts. I am feeling this inconjunct strongly at the moment,
but I would like some help understanding what that feeling is. This
particular inconjunt is important, I think, because I am just finishing an
amazing transiting Pluto conjunct Jupiter, and in the natal chart I have
Jupiter inconjunct Mercury. Thanks for whatever information you can
give.

An urgent question about Composite charts, to Rob Hand or Lizz Green.
Well, I am thinking now - If the Composite is a midpoint chart then why do
the aspects between composite planets really have to matter?
Calculating the aspects between composite planets (which are mere midpoints)
is similar to the idea of calculating the aspects between a midpoint in your
natal chart to another midpoint in your chart, which Midpoint Astrologers
never do!!! Its pointless, so to speak. In general, the Midpoint Astrologers
do not distinguish between the nature of the aspect concerning the midpoint
picture in natal charts. The picture is simply, say Mars=Sun/Pluto, it does
not matter if the aspect is a square, conjunciton, opposition or semisquare,
there is no good or bad aspects in midpoint astrology...it is the interaction
between the midpoint and a third planet that matters, not the aspect
itself.
In Midpoint astrology, what astrologers do pay attention to is if a natal or
transit planet falls on a ceratin midpoint in your natal chart. Having to say
this - I am starting to think that when looking at the Composite Charts, one
should pay more attention if a partners natal planet falls/make an aspect
with some composite planet or composite angle. But the aspects between
composite planets shouldnt be regarded as important ( it is like a
midpoint/midpoint aspect which doesnt count in midpoint astrology).
I wonder what would be your explenation?
Sincerely,
Bissie S.

Alois adds: If you believe to know better than other astrologers:
You are welcome. Nobody forces you to use composite charts or aspects in
composite charts.
Other astrologers do use them, with a lot of success, and
may want to preserve their own opinion. What should and should not be done
in astrology is not decided by S. Bissie, but by the experience of those
who actually do the work.
For those who want to know more about the composite chart, its theory and its
practice, I recommend the book 'Planets in Composite', by Robert Hand.
Message for Robert Hand~
Dear Robert,
I just noticed that you have done a horoscope for the Dalai Lama. I believe
it probable that the sunrise version of his birthtime is fraudulent, for
whatever reason. A long time ago when I was living in Mcleod Ganj, the
information was got from his sister that as far as she was aware he was
actually born in the middle of the night. Aries appears to be the probable
ascendant.

Alois adds: Please understand that Astrodienst staff, and not Robert Hand or
Liz Greene carry the responsibility for what appears on this website. We
try to use reliable data, and will add a note to the Dalai Lama chart, that
the birth time is not without doubt.
From the personal impression I got from him when I watched him at a
conference 20 years ago, I would tend to agree that double cancer (Sun and
Ascendant) is indeed not what one sees. But I tend to trust well researched data more
than such
impressions.
Lois Rodden at Astrodatabank.com writes:
The Dalai Lama gave July 6, 1935 in his autobiography "Freedom in Exile."
David Fisher quotes Valerie Matthews of Scotland for a letter from Pema Dorjee
at the office of his Holiness that gave "between 5:30 and 6:30 in the
morning." Sally Thibodeau quotes Dalai Lama, My Son, which is the story of his
mother told to her granddaughter. On p. 89 his mother is quoted as saying he
"was born early in the morning, before sunrise." (LMR calculates sunrise at
that date and location as 4:38 AM.)
Dermod Moore of London writes on 12/12/2000, "Freda Edis of The Faculty of
Astrological Studies here says: In 'Kundun, A Biography of the Dalai Lama by
Mary Craig - pub: Harper Collins,1997, gives Taktser, Tibet, ?sunrise?. Mary
Craig was in contact with the Dalai Lama when she wrote the book. Taktser is
what is given in most biographies. It is a small village in the province of
Amdo about 15 km from the nearest town of Siling, or Sining, as it is
sometimes called. That part of Amdo was in Tibet at the time of the DL's
birth, but may now be part of the Chinese province of Kansu, of which Langchow
is the chief city. These borderlands have long been in dispute between the
Tibetans and the Chinese.
Bordoni had quoted her friend Marco Columbro, a well-known TV actor and a fine
astrologer, who visited Tibet where he met and asked the Dalai Lama his data,
while making a documentary for Italian TV, and Columbro related the answer as
"shortly before noon." On 12/19/2000, Grazia Bordoni writes that there was a
misunderstanding with Marco Columbro. " Marco had an interview with the Dalai
Lama, spoke with him, but he didn't ask his birthtime. The birthtime he gave
me (11.45) was published in a book by Luciana Maringeli, no source."
I recenlty boght Robert Hands transit chart. I was very disappointed and it
was so impersonal. I have a stellium in the 2nd house all about 2 deg apart
with a fourth planet just 7 deg. Jupiter is about to transit my 2nd house
and these planets and I feel this could be a significant time however there
was no acknowledgement of this stellium, nor of the house only that jupiter
will conjunct these planets - something an amateur could easily work out. I
will not be buying any more charts or could I recommend them. However the
website remains interesting

Alois adds: This kind of service is called 'electional astrology'. I am sorry,
but we do not offer it, at this time.
I have renewed a two month membership twice now, and I notice something odd
when my membership lapses. Suddenly, the transits only available to
subscribers lists at least one new transit each day when I renew my
membership, in hopes to read these, often the transits stay the same for days
on end, ones I've seen over and over. It does seem like a ploy to get me to
renew, followed by disappointment.

Alois adds: You are mistaken, there are no such ploys. We do not think or
work like that at Astrodienst, we are direct, generous and honest. We do not
play marketing games with our users.
The only difference
between subscriber mode and non-subscriber mode is the accessibility of
extended reading text and the extended day choice.
It is easy to verify: If you are a subscriber, logout of your profile, create
a fresh 'guest user' profile and enter the same (!!!) birth data information.
Then check the daily horoscope from both profiles, and compare. They will
always be identical.
