Astro.com is really helpful in understanding friends and partners
responses. This is a great site I think it would be helpful to many of us to
learn what astrological positions would be better choices in love
relationships.

Alois adds: A tricky matter, those 'better choices'. Some like it hot, and some like it cozy - there is not one rule
to bind them all, whatever the Ring might say. Please, give "Free Horoscopes -> Astrology for Lovers" a try. It looks like just Sun signs, but you can learn a lot about them.
Hi, I was wondering about the travel chart? If I was born in Kansas City
Missouri, I know I should put my birth time and day in for that city. And I
see that a report will come up for line crossings for Kansas City. But, if I
were to move from there to let's say Las Vegas, can I click on Las vegas and
get an accurate report, with my place of birth still being at Kansas City(in
otherwords use the same map) Or do I need to go back and change my reference
place of birth to Las Vegas and have the new map come up and then click on
Las vegas for those crossings?
Jen P e n n a USA --- Sunday, August 31, 2003 at 20:55 Universal Time
Alois adds: For ALL services of astro.com, the only city you enter with the natal data record
is your birth place. If you are born in Kansas, MO, then this is what goes into your natal data, and it will be NEVER changed.
The 'reference place' which is indicated with some charts has no purpose for
Astroclick Travel. If it had, it would be indicated on the map page.
There are some astrologers out there who try to make a business out of messing natal charts
up with fake birth towns, but we do not do that at Astrodienst.
Please take note of the introductory warning of AstroClick Travel:
AstroClick Travel is designed as an introduction to locational astrology. Its use is meant for entertainment, and maybe you would like to test certain "influences" on a holiday trip.
Please do not base important life decisions on AstroClick Travel! In these cases, we recommend to see a specialised astrologer.
Please could you tell me what you mean by ''weak, transient effect'? Doing a
quick search on Astrodienst I have found several other people asking this
question but can't find a reply. many thanks, jane
Jane D i m o n d Twickenham, Great Britain --- Sunday, August 31, 2003 at 18:05 Universal Time
Alois adds: It means that this particular transit by the moon is NOT STRONG, i.e. often not felt
at all, and that it is of a transient nature, i.e it is OVER QUICKLY, in a matter of hours.
Is it possible to have an analysis of my natal chart using the equal house
system? And, if I were to purchase a year's forecast, which would be
better--the transits by Mr hand, or the one by Liz greene?
Martine K a s s e r- W e s t e r v e l t St Petersburg, FL, USA --- Sunday, August 31, 2003 at 01:54 Universal Time
Alois adds: You can choose the house system and other technical details with
most chart drawing under Free Horoscopes. For interpretation of horoscopes
however, our astrologers make the decisions about which techniques (including
which house systems) they use. If you want an interpretation from us, please
accept that we decide about the technique we use.
If you are an astrologer, and people come to you for a reading of their horoscope, you will probably also reserve the right to make technical choices for
yourself, in agreement with your own professional experience.
For the other question about the choice of reports, please let me ask
back: Which painting is better, one by Picasso or one by Van Gogh?
Overall I think this is an excellent and handy tool. I have used Robert
Hand's Transits for years, though, so in most instances it only repeats what
I could read in the book. However, I must comment on an amazing omission. I
have Uranus conjuncting my Jupiter right now--something I'm quite interested
in--and it doesn't even show up. Nothing. Duh?! Clearly not a completely
accurate tool.
Dianne H e n d e r s o n Fond du Lac, WI, USA --- Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 19:38 Universal Time
Alois adds: The free report 'Short report Forecast' is incomplete by design, and we make no secret of that fact.
I recommend that you read the introduction of Short Report Forecast before you send such comments. It says:
In the short edition, only a few, but nevertheless important transits over your natal chart are considered. It is likely however that some important transits of this six month period have been omitted in this abbreviated report. Each time a new month begins and the period of this short report changes, the selection of the themes which are discussed here will change.
If you are interested in the full pattern of relevant themes, please order the full version of this report. Your best choice of report will be Liz Greene's Yearly Horoscope Analysis or Robert Hand's Transits of the Year. These reports will select the really relevant themes of a 12-month period for you, and deal with them in depth and style.
I have studied Astrology since 1978. Your site is a God-send!!! I love the
different interpertations and ease of use. Thank you again and I will

Hi! I noticed in a feed back a person thanking you for helping them to find
their birth time in a Berlin registry. My partner was born in Stuttgart and
has been trying to find out his birth time for many years. I know there is
suppose to be a way of finding a birth time according to events in your life,
but it would be a lot easier if it could be found another way. Have you any
ideas of where to start looking? My partner has a birth cetificate but there
is no time shown. By the way, great site !! Gill
Gill B r a d l e y Central Queensland, Australia --- Friday, August 29, 2003 at 22:13 Universal Time
Alois adds: All your partner need to do is to write to the birth registry
office in Stuttgart, and request a copy of the registry entry for his
birth. The German name for the office is "Standesamt Stuttgart" (google tells you the address). He has to ask
for a 'Auszug aus dem Geburtenregister mit Uhrzeit'. He should add a photocopy
of his passport and birth certificate, as proof for his entitlement to
get such personal information. Probably adding a 10 Euro note will be sufficient
to cover the fee for the copy and the mail answer. I am not sure whether they
can handle credit cards at such offices, so cash is better.
Actually, it can here be done online Please click on 'Geburtszeit' in the right column and follow the instructions.

Alois adds: Distances of planets in the zodiac are usually not measured in inches, but in degrees
(a full circle is 360 degrees, a quadrant is 90 degrees, a 'sign' is 30 degrees). Many astrologers
consider planets within a perimeter (called 'orbis' or 'orb') of 10 degrees to both sides
of a given planets as being in conjunction. In synastry, where you have twice the number
of planets, compared to a birth chart, it makes sense to reduce the orb to a smaller value.
Astrologers use different orbs, however, there is no fixed rule which serves for all.
Is there a place on your website that provides information about Chiron in

Some years ago a poll was carried out to establish how content people felt to
be born under their own particular astrological sign with regards to typical
character description and also possible career direction. From a broad
cross-section of ages the results showed that it was young men from two
particular signs who most wanted to change their birth sign.
Young virgo men were not enthralled at being told that they would make good
office secretaries, likewise the young pisces men who didn’t recognise
themselves as having ‘sensitive, dreamy, spiritual natures’. This reaction
was hardly surprising given the lazy generalisations some astrologers often
make.
For something different, astrologers would do well to include ‘racing driver’
under career sections when broadly looking at these two signs.
Last Sunday, the 24th August 2003, at the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix,
the record of youngest ever race winner, held by Bruce McLaren since 1959 was
broken. Bruce McLaren was a virgo. Of the twenty-two drivers who have raced
in Formula One this season, five are virgo, two are pisces and a further four
have moon in either virgo or pisces which adds up to exactly half the total
field of drivers.
Pisces world champions include the legends Jim Clark, Nicki Lauda, Mario
Andretti and Alain Prost.
Virgo world champions include James Hunt and Damon Hill, the latter sharing a
virgo birthday with the greatest driver never to have been world champion,
Stirling Moss.
Personally, I can think of no clearer manifestation of the virgo-mercury
energy (which influences by association to its polarity sign, pisces) than
the ability to put the front wheels of a racing car travelling at up to 200
kmh into exactly the same spot of tarmac at each corner of each lap of a
seventy lap race.
This, to me, is the epitome of mercury’s fleetness together with virgo’s
precision and attention to detail.
Pisces and Virgo kids, there’s another career out there!

I have just finished reading all of the feedback for your site.
Wonderful and fascinating! Thank you for your generosity!
I am curious about the effect of something physiologically upon
the personality of my son's chart. He has a Libra ascendant but
because he has ADD (attention deficit disorder) he does not seem AT ALL like
a Libra ascendant. Do you have any comments on how psychological disorders
affect our charts??
Thanking you in advance.
Diane
Diane Massachusetts, USA --- Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 20:45 Universal Time
Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. Regarding your son, you might overestimate the effect of a Libra ascendant, in a case
when this Venusian element is not backed up by the rest of the chart.
Considering his Mars in Aries, Moon in Leo and the (wide) squares Moon-Mars
and Moon-Pluto, you will find a lot of emotional energy expressed.
The rebellious and sometimes nervous energy of an Aquarius Sun does not help
to put that in check.
But these days doctors and teachers are very quick in handing out labels
like ADD to children with a non-boring personality. It is wise to remain
sceptical in face of such diagnosis.
I highly recommend Liz Greene's Child's Horoscope to you. I ran it for your
son, and the table of contents for him reads like this (abbreviated):
II. The Psychological Type
Fairy tales can come true * Kicking against the ordinary world * An imaginative and lively mind
III. The Characters in the Story
A child who sees the drama in life * The craving to be first and best * Everything in excess * The delights of being different * A secret longing to be ordinary * The importance of living without an audience A true individualist * A feeling of being special * A secret need for others approval * Neediness is really a strength
IV. Emotional needs and patterns in relationships
Notice me! * Special needs in relationship with parents * Father is seen as an unconventional spirit * A close emotional bond with mother
[If you find my reply gives out too many chart details, please
let me know, and I will cut it back]
The Child's Horoscope is the best astrological report we have to offer. It
It is worth its price literally hundreds of times, when you consider the
value it can bring for the understanding of your child or children, particularily
if ordered at an earlier age (between four and six is best).

Alternatively, try 'bisma' - type less, find more. It is always wise to
type only the first few letters of a city name, as the chance for spelling errors is reduced if you type less.

Liebes Astro-Team,

Behörden in Polen telefonisch kontaktiert - leider vergebens, niemand weiß

This is a wonderful website, and precisely what I would anticipate from Liz
Greene and Robert Hand. Would that there were more astrologers of their
quality!
I am wondering if either have addressed anywhere locatable the future of the
state of California both physically and/or psychologically.
I have just ordered access to the daily and long-term horoscopes. On what
basis are the long-term aspects chosen?
And what is the orb of influence? Is it possible to access the transiting
planets in the houses? I have it in book form, but would love it on the
computer.
I have been following Robert Hand's transits for a long time, and he is
unswervingly accurate.
Thank you,

Hello,
Thank you for this great astro site. Its the best there is on the web that I
know of.
Just one thing which confuses me a bit. I was, according to official info
born 15 march 1965 at 2.22am. Pisces accendant Sagitarius. However, I could
not identify at all with the chart spesified. I thought maybe I had been
given the wrong time of birth, because when I read the personal chart for the
birthtime 12.22 am it really makes sence. Pisces accendant Scorpio is what I
identify with. Especially because of the information about my past and my
psychological profile, etc. How should I interpret this...?
With love

Firstly, I love your site and I am one of your daily users, but I thought I'd
just comment on this excerpt from your explanation about extended
forecasts:
snip
Sadly, the sales of reports have not increased in recent years. In fact, we
sell fewer reports today than we did in 1997.
snip
A few weeks ago I started to buy one of your reports but I stopped when I
realised I was going to be sent a hard copy by snail mail. Why not also offer
them as downloads, or as e-books, if they are really that long? Surely the
www is an environment that is best suited to the shopping practice of if I
want it at all, I want it right now.
Cheers

Hi, I really enjoy this site and have come to treasure all the reports I have
had done. They have all helped me to understand things in greater detail in
my life. Today's question is in regard to the transit of Mercury Opposition
Chiron, with a title of Uncomfortable questions. I don't quite understand the
meaning of this and am hoping someone can clarify the meaning to me. Thank
you for your time and insight.

When is the best time to schedule a date?? Does one watch the Moon phases?
The sign the Moon is in? or is Venus more important? I'm so confused.
When is the best time to ask someone on a date? What is the most important
factor? The ascendant? The Moon? help!
A K Canada --- Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 18:16 Universal Time
Thank for answering my question on relocation.
I would like to ask you some clarification, I am not sure if I understood
what you meant.
I understand the natal chart stay the natal chart wherever you move.
What about the transit in the house. Especially Saturn that I find give a
good sense on where the person is.
If I look at my natal chart, Uranus is transiting my second house and is
going to conjunct my sun and my mars and opposite my moon.
If I look at my relocated chart, I have the same Uranus transit is but, in
my 5th. This is not the same thing.
For the last 3 years I look on my relocated chart and it seems to make
sense for me.
Do you think I should continue to look at my Uranus transit in my 5th house
or am I making an error.
Thank again for your kindness.

Alois adds: I personally am not a great friend of relocated charts. People
have been trying to use them to avoid fundamental issues imbedded in their
birth charts, and I think this works only to a very limited extent. But this
is my private opinion, and I am not a consulting astrologer who sees clients
and reads charts for them. I am only an experienced observer of astrology.
An important rule in astrology is "anything goes". Different astrologers
use different techniques and systems all the time, and usually they work for them.
Therefore, you are perfectly entitled to follow your own rules, different
to some extend from ours.
This is a wonderful website. Thank-you........

I find your site very interesting and educational. It's great to have access
to different kind of charts.
I have a question on relocation. When you calculate the transit, do you do it
on the natal or on the relocated chart?
Can you give me your opinion on how you use the relocated chart?
Thank in advance to answer my question.
Véronique
Véronique M a g n a n Canada --- Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 16:51 Universal Time
Alois adds: Relocation has no relevance for transits. You should view it like
this: your natal chart creates a set of 'marks' on the zodiac - where the
natal planets were, where the natal house cusps were. Your natal chart remains fundamentally valid for all of your life, like a set of genes you were born with. Even when you move to Mongolia, you don't get slit eyes, unless you were
born like that ;-)
The transiting planets
touch these marks, directly or by aspect, and this gives the transits. The
moment of such a 'touch by transit' is an absolute moment in time, independet
of where you are at this time. Only the expression of that time in 'local
zone time' varies according to your local timezone. For this single purpose
our daily horoscope allows the selection of a 'reference place'.

Dear Alois!
A couple of weeks ago I had asked you about Horary Astrology. You wrote that
you did not yet experience its validity. Well, I have tried it a number of
times and was able to see that when in the Horary chart planets were about to
meet or form a harmonious angle, things worked out in favour of the question
asked. Also I found that when planets were about to leave a conjunction or an
angle, the situation asked about would dissolve, people would part etc.
Certainly I felt the Horaray chart will give you a feeling for the situation
asked about by showing you the flow of energy or the disharmonious influence
symbolized by the planets. But I have not always been able to understand a
Horary chart, nor to be precise when it comes to timing of events. Thus, I
was hoping to find more inspired/inspiring information, or someone who has
more experience with it. Anybody?
Thanks, Ash

Hello Alois,
I have just been looking at my daughter's chart (born 15-5-80, 20.15 hrs,
Bradford, UK), at the forecast of transits etc, to email her a few details,
thinking that she needed a boost and I noticed that she has Jupiter conjunct
Jupiter, actual from 27th August 2003 until 5th September 2003.
My question is: I thought because Jupiter is so slow moving, its effects
would be felt for much longer than that one week which is mentioned. Other
transits seem to have an effect for longer, months even. Presumably it means
that exact degree. Wouldn't the effects be felt for some time longer, both
before and after the exact conjunction?

If you check the Ephemeris (http://www.astro.com/swisseph/ae/2000/ae_2003.pdf )

29deg46 min. into virgo and at 9:53 it has travelled 2 min into libra. I
would love to know what my MC is and more importantly my ic. What does a cusp
on the MC/IC axis mean, or is a 'cusp' even possible? seeing as the virgo/pis
axis is in a critical degree, ahould i pay it special attention? If my mc is
indeed libra i have 2 libra and two aries houses, if it is Virgo/pic., then
my chart has no duplicate houses. All because of one minute! Please help.

Dear Lois Padawer
Thanks so much for your kind advice. Yes, planets would be consider
stationary when apparently standing still and ready to turn backwards or
forward visually. It is important to differentiate them because the
interpretation would be totally different. An ephemeris would indicates
whether it is a D,SR,R or SD, as I'm aware. Unfortunately, I don't own one
because of the existence of a wonderful website astro.com....

I just subscribed to the extended daily horoscope, which is great, btw. One
suggestion though. It would be nice to have an option to view all the transit
readings for the day on a single page, rather than having to click on each
one. In lieu of that, an alternative would be to mark the ones I already
clicked on and read.

When I created a user profile this time then logged in my birth details, the
programme would not accept my town of birth, Swann, Western Australia. When I

to put in Perth as my place of birth, which is about 30 miles or more away.
Will this significantly change my placements? Also, why is the town no longer

Alois adds: During the year 2003, the time range for the extended daily horoscope is 1 Jan 2000 to 31 Dec 2004. During the year 2004, starting on 1 Jan 2004, the time range will be shofted forward by one year, from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 Dec 2005. Each year the range will shift again.
To Loyheng Chow:
I have not checked your chart, but there is no conflict between Venus
stationary and Venus retrograde, as Venus probably was stationary retrograde
at the time of your birth. Stationary is a matter of definition, and a planet
can be considered stationary even if it is moving very slightly. The
definition of stationary can vary depending on the astrologer. The planet is
stationary at the stage between direct and retrograde and vice versa, and
there is a gradual change, not an absolute cut-off.
Alois can correct this or answer himself if he has time.

Dear Alois,
In my feedback dated july 19, I had asked about the validity of the summer
time data for Turkey during 1970 and I had received the following reply:
Alois adds: Be assured that we know much more than you do about timezone
history of Turkey and all other countries.
Turkey had summertime after 1950 in these years: 1951, 1962, 1964, 1970 -
1983, 1985 - now
In 1970, it was from 2 May until 3 October.
Well, I double checked with turkish astrologists and I found that in 1970, 71
and 72, there were NO summer time in Turkey. You may find detailed
information at this website: http://www.astrolojidergisi.com/yazsaati.htm
Best regards,

Seniz U n a l Turkey --- Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 22:49 Universal Time
Alois adds: I cannot make out that the website you quote names an official
source. I have no reason to assume that this website has more reliable
sources than we do, until I see printed official documents.
You may investigate the matter yourself via newspaper archives, of a good
national newspaper. Please check the days around 3.6.1973 and 4.11.1973 first
to see whether (and in which section) the newspaper mentions the begin and
end of summertime. Once you have established that, go back to the issues for the
years 1972, 1971 and 1970, to see whether the summer time (or absence of such)
is mentioned. That way, you will have an immediate 'objective' source.
If you believe in the information of your source more than in the data we have, simply use 'manual timezone' on data entry to override our automatic
assignment.

Hello dear Alois Astro team,
This is a very dear request that I feel most astrologers that use this site
would appreciate if you could fulfill.
It would be so helpful if, in the Extended Chart Selection section, it could
be easy:
- to select aspects for Asc and MC further the standard ones. I know one can
do that by clicking all aspects but that gives you a real mess of a chart
with aspects to Chiron and Wheel of Fortune and what not. Just a clicable box
aspects to Asc+MC would be easy and so so dearly helpful
- to save Astrodienst style as default.
These two simple and easy add-ons to the already superb Extended Chart
Selection section would be of invaluable worth to astrologers like me who
repeat these operations on and on again and again. As a matter of fact, I
have to resort to my trustworthy iBook that runs Killian Stern's beautiful
Kairon just because of these tiny and small issues...
I wish to add my personal congratulations for the addition of the Portuguese
language to this terrific site of yours, I have told all my friends and
cutomers about this great news and they're all very happy about it.
Keep up the wonderful work, Allois! Kudos for you!
