I just wanted to say that this is the best site I know of for astrological reference and research. Please don't ever change! I wouldn't know where to get such detailed and accurate information! Thank you, a thousand times, thank you! Perhaps someday I will be among those who can help deliver information the rest of the world, such as you have.

liebes astro-team

I am really impressed by the lay out of this web site but would like to make a suggestion. I noticed that there isn't any advice section on the gemstones that could enhance one's fortunes or shield to some extent the ill effects of one's planet. I have an enquiry with regards to my birthstone which is Red Coral for planet Mars. Since there are movements towards Jupiter, can I also use Yellow Sapphires together with my Red Coral birthstone ? Is it compatible or would it bring about ill effects for the user? I really hope to harness the powers of this auspicious movement since I have undergone a turbulent past and hope to capitilise on this? Could you please e-mail me your advise? Thank you best regards. Hans.

Alois adds: You best enhance your fortune by becoming a seller of gemstones. Personally, I am not convinced that wearing them solves problems related to your birth chart and your personality.

On the other side, wearing a gem will not hurt you, and if it gives you a good feeling, it may even be helpful.

Hi Astrodienst team!
I love your site and use it often. There is one area of astrology though that I am missing and that is Horary Astrology. I find it fascinating but it seems not many people do since there is not much on the net about it. Do you know any good sites for it? And: do you think you will include Horary Astrology in your site in future?
Thanks for a reply and for the great service you provide!

Alois adds: Horary astrology is not personal - it does not consider your chart at all, it only uses the chart of the moment when a question was asked. I have not yet been able to experience its validity.

Your feedback in the guestbook will be as follows:
I have purchased a psychological horoscope and a career/vocation guide from astrodienst. I am curious about the astrological data used for these analyses. In both cases, major aspects to the Ascendant were not listed on the 'data page', although aspects to the Midheaven were. What is the reason for this? In my case I have an almost exact square between the Sun and the Ascendant - surely an important aspect - and a weak conjunction of the Sun with the MC. Only the latter aspect is listed in your reports. I would be interested to know why the Ascendant is (seemingly) left out of the chart interpretation.
Thank you.

Alois adds: What aspects (and which orbs) a particular astrologer uses to read a chart is a matter of personal style, as much as the choice of colour and brush for a painter. There is no common set of rules uses by all astrologers alike.

Please accept that Liz Greene uses HER style for reading charts; if you can't accept that, maybe you should read your charts yourself according to your own style.

Dear Alois, and everyone at Astrodienst!

I have recently received my psychological horoscope by Liz Greene. I must say it is amazing, a wonderfull gift and a tool to serve me for years to come. I am looking forward to order more readings in the near future. Although I have come to expect a lot from astrodienst, this reading has exceded my expectation, and will continue to help me understand and improve my life, as it already is. It is all written in a very positive outlook, very supportive and encouraging. Liz Greene and all of you in Astrodienst have done such an amazing job and all I can say is thank you for this opportunity to look deeper into my life and see the magic which life as well as astrology are...

And regarding another topic, which I have written about before, the astro travel maps and interpretation. I have read in one of your replies to feedback, Alois, that you mention that even challenging locations are not a reason to relocate, and you believe in working through the challenges, just as you would with a birth chart. This rings very true to me, only that the way the interpretation in those maps are written, it doesn't leave a lot of room for growing and working on the problems. Unlike in Liz Greene's astrointelligence interpretation, where nothing seems to be totally negative, and there is a way to work through every challenge, the readings in the travel section seem quite fatalistic. For example, a quote I have found in one of the places I looked at : 'This is not the place for peaceful living. You are either a perpetrator or a victim! You need to be aware of this'. I know you have said in the past to take it with more than a grain of salt, but to me this is a whole subject for a discussion, how much and in what way are we able to affect or change the way the environment influences us? or can we at all? I would like to hear your opinion about it. You said before you are working with Liz Greene on an astro map reading, I am sure her readings will be much more enlightening.

And to another matter: I think it would be very beneficial for the readers of this site to have a forum other than the feedback, for discussing astrology issues, asking questions on the subject of astrology, either with or without the participation of Alois or Astrodienst people. This is a service that Astrodienst could offer, or alternatively can be established through Yahoo groups or another vehicle. What would be Astrodienst take on that?

Again, Thank you to everybody in Astrodienst for giving us these wonderful enlightening gifts, bless you all!

Alois adds: Thanks for the kind feedback.

About the text for AstroClick Travel, I think the problem is that it was originally grafted for a texbook, not for a personal reading. In a textbook, the situation is much less sensitive than in a personal reading situation. We cannot yet promise a date when the new locational astrology reading we are developing will be ready.

For discussion groups, please use what is available on the web - there are plenty. We believe - and have observed at many occasions - that unmoderated discussion groups deteriorate quickly and are dominated by cranks. We lack the man/womanpower for constant moderation of such a group, and this is why we cannot host it on our website.

I too have been on this site for a very long time and must agree with D. MacDonald 's (Calgary) comments wholeheartedly...this site has been one of the greatest gifts to us, the general public. I will continue to support this site and if I have to do without something else, so be it. It's a matter of priorities, I guess. Thanks to Alois and staff for all your hard work.

As I was trying to cast a chart in your website, I realized that summer time information of Turkey is not correct. For example, in 1970, Turkey didn't use the summer time switch, therefore somebody who has born in the summer time will see the worng chart, he/she has to enter the data one hour earlier that the actual one. I wonder if it is the case with other countries as well. I wonder if you actually search this kind of information and update your database?

Hi,

Many thanks for a wonderful website. You have consistently produced the highest quality astrological interpretations and services that I've found in my ongoing, deep yet amateur interest and fascination with astrology.

I understand that in today's economic climate it is not possible to offer so many things for free, as you once did. But I wasn't able to find anywhere on the website an explanation of the motivation behind making the other transits information on the daily horoscope page available free only on Thursdays though the end of August 2003. But more than knowing the motivation behind this decision, I'd like to know what will happen after the end of August 2003. Will the other transits information not be available for free *at all* after that time? And will any other services that we may have gotten accustomed to receiving for free also be effected at that time?

Many thanks in advance for your response. And thank you for your dedication to conscientiously educating the public about astrology.

Alois- Thank you for your response, and for amending the database. I appreciate the difficulty in situations such as this, where the official status of areas is in flux.

Pam- I do take your point about politics... though I did take pains to emphasise that a proportion of Israelis supported the policies which I disagree with, and NOT all. My original post mentioned my work with Israeli peace activists and my Jewish Israeli boyfriend.

And so far as the Palestinian state not being a reality at this time, that may be the case but I was making the point that Hebron, for example, is certainly NOT in Israel, and this most certainly is fact, as recognised by the Israeli govt.

I did not accuse the team at astrodienst of racism, but of appearing to support a racist policy. I asked for clarification, which was given and which I found perfectly reasonable. Thank you.

Dear Dr. Treindl: Many thanks for a wonderful Web site with many useful tools. May I make a suggestion? It would be useful to be able to cast a Whole-House system chart with reduced or expanded orbs. This could be done by adding the Whole House system as an option on the House system menu on the Extended Chart Selection: Astrodienst Round page, where reduced/expanded orbs are already offered as an option, or by adding reduced/expanded orbs as an option on the Extended Chart Selection: Pullen/Astrolog page, where the Whole House system is already offered as an option. This is an astrological website, NOT a political one. If you wish to discuss politics, this is not the appropriate forum for it. You are entitled to your political views, as is everyone else. You are not entitled to impose your views on others.

There are always fanatics on every side of any given conflict. While what you say may be true of some individual Israelis, it could just as easily be said of certain individual Palestinians.

The Astrodienst database lists cities in Tibet as being part of China (e.g., the Dalai Lama's birthplace.) I really don't think that this indicates that Astrodienst supports China's takeover of Tibet, or the means by which it was done, just because in their database they are going with current political reality. While the existence of a Palestinian state (that's state, an official political entity) may well be very desirable, it is not as yet a political reality. Recognizing this fact does not make Astrodienst racist.

PLEASE keep this site a forum for ASTROLOGICAL discussion.

Alois adds: Thanks for your assistance, Pam.

As the formal creation of a Palestinian state is indeed pending and an official US government plan, I have decided to duplicate the west bank and Gaza strip towns under an additional designation. We have many such duplicates, for areas which have changed political association at some time, so that our atlas users can choose "in which country they wish to have been born".

I would like to know why there is no mention of Palestine or the Palestinian Territories name in your database. Although many areas are disputed, it is certainly news to me that Nabulus, Jericho and Hebron are in Israel... as shown in your database.

[...]
It causes me great sadness that the team at Astrodienst, for whom I had such great respect, appear to support this.

However even turning aside issues that may be down to political opinion, there is the simple matter of geography. The CIA worldbook, the Israeli govt website and the United Nations all agree that some form of Palestinian area exists which is not part of the Israeli state.

London, Great Britain --- Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 12:20 Universal Time

Alois adds: Our atlas is for providing geographical coordinates and correct timezone history information. The designations of country names, provinces etc associated with the city data are not relevant for that purpose.

Before the occupation of the Jordan west bank by Israel in 1967, this area was politically under control of Jordania. After 1967, it is under control of Israel. It is to be expected that a Palestinian state will be formally founded in the near future, and that it will receive the currently reserved ISO country code 'PS'.

All cities on the west bank have been listed twice in the atlas, under country abbreviataion 'JOR' and under 'ISRL'.

I have now triplicated the westbank cities, and added them with the new (inofficial) country code PS; the same was done for the 12 location names in the Gaza strip, which are now also duplicated.

A search entry
,PS
(comma followed by two letters) will list all towns in the Palestine area our atlas contains.

I just wanted to tell you all that your website is absolutely awesome! I use it almost on a daily basis and recommend it to other people as well for the articles, chart drawings and other information services that you all so kindly provide free of charge. Additionally, I have purchased both Robert Hand's Planets in Composite and Liz Greene's Astrology for Lovers based on the advertisements on the website. I find them to be enlightening as well. I have also purchased a few chart readings as gifts for friends and love those too! Thanks so much astro.com.

Hello,
This is my first time seeing your site and found interesting that you provide life progress charts (possible events during the next years of your life). Do you provide excact explanations/reports on those charts? I am interested on that.
Sorry for using the feedback page but I miss the contact us point.
PS I am not interested to your other reports. Look as every other report coming up from a computer...massive production I would say.

Why is the sun sign for November 22nd, 1942 listed as Scorpio on this sight when all the other sights and my books indicate that November 22nd, 1942 sun is in Sag. How and Why is there this difference?

Erika  O v e r b y

Alois adds: If you check any ephemeris (tables of planetary positions), you will find that the Sun entered Sagittarius on 22 Nov 1942 at 22:30 Universal Time. What time that is in your timezone depends on where you were.

The sun does not change signs at midnight (midnight where?), but each year and each month at a different time. Even the calendar date can vary by one or two days.

All the popular listings like 'Scorpio from 23 Oct to 22 Nov' are just rough approximations and CANNOT be precise on the border day. Only a personal calculations of your birth chart can be precise.

Apologies: I meant July 22nd!

I read your newest article on the Composite chart method and found it very helpful. You mentioned that comparing one partner's natal to the composite is useful and I wanted to ask if it would be equally useful to look at the Composite between a partner's natal and the Composite. Or is this too extensive? If not, what would it signify?

Thanks!

First, I would like to thank you so very much for providing me with the opportunity to use your site so extensively over the last 5 years.

When I became connected to the Internet in '98, I thought I would be using it for practical purposes. But, for the first time in my life, I was able to access information about astrology. From that time on, I have behaved like a starving person in my search for astrological information. Very few days have gone by over that time where I have not visited your site. Many times I wondered how you could afford to provide such an extensive service, without cost, to so many people.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks, in writing this time, as I have send thankful thoughts many times. You can't know how your generosity has improved my life and my understanding of myself and the people and situations in my life. Before I was able to use your site, I spent a lot of my time trying to figure out the why of things. Thank you so much for providing insight.

All good things must come to an end, I suppose but I wanted to take some time to say that the diminished free services in no way diminishes the extensive contribution that you have already made to better understanding between people.

Rather than feedback, I have a most curious question.

Why did my Lilith move??

Before when I ran my Natal chart, I had Lilith in my 8th house, but when I ran my natal chart yesterday, it had moved to the 12th house. Does anyone know what happened,, why? Which placement was/is correct?

Thanks!

THAT is impressive for a free site! what i did manage to sift through has given me added confidence that i will overcome the challenges i see approaching in my path... thank you for providing a high quality free service to those (like myself) who are in need! i send you all the best of thoughts and lots of positive energy... karma will reward!

Oops! Just noticed that Robert Pelletier is also listed in Astrodienst's VIP Astrotwins database, so maybe you already had his birth info. I don't know anything else about him, apart from him being an American astrologer and author, whose writings, while very accurate, tend to infuriate a lot of people. I forgot to mention before that his Mars in Gemini in the seventh house trines his Moon in Aquarius in the third house, which, like Mars, is in bad aspect to his MC. Neat, eh?

To CJ re Robert Pelletier: It's nice to finally see someone appreciating this man's contribution. Here's his data, as per Lois Rodden's Astrodatabank: February 28, 1927, at 11:20 PM, in Dover, New Hampshire. Note that he has Mars in Gemini in the seventh house, squaring his MC (could perhaps partly account for the hostile reaction his writings often elicit?) Mars also squares his exact Sun - Jupiter conjunction in Pisces in the fourth house.

Your data page of the free horoscope section does not provide any information on Chiron. I have looked up its position for the day of my birth on your Swiss empheris [sp?] but could you tell me how I could find out what Chiron aspects I have? Do you know of any free site which provides this information? Also, do you have any plans to include Chiron in the free personal portraits?

Thanks, and congratulations on such an impressive site.

Hello I am desperately seeking biographical information on Robert Pelletier. The personal profiles that he provides for your web site is exceptional and in my experience 100% acurate. With the information provided in his profiles I was able to read profiles over a 24 hour period on the date of my husband's birth and guess his time of birth down to the minute. I later confirmed my guess with his mother and was correct on his time of birth at 1:20 am. I also guessed my time of birth at 6:38 which is not noted on my birth certificate and was able to confirm it with my mother. I would like to know more about this amazing man, please help by sending any information you have available. Thank you.

Hi Alois,

I've just ordered yet another report from the site and one more time I wonder why are not they available in electronic format? You could have that option, if someone likes the printed version - fine, but it could be so much more faster to just e-mail the electronic version of a report?
Also, is there a possibility to receive an electronic version of a report I have already, e.g. relationship report?
Same could be done with books of Liz Green and other authors, if they would be available in digital format then this site could also sell the books apart from the reports.

With kind regards.

Alois adds: I must say that I do prefer my books bound and printed, so that I can take them anywhere and read them. To print off a 300 page book on your inkjet and laser will cost you considerable more, even when you do not count your time, than buying it from a bookshop. To read it directly on the screen is not such a good idea, in my eyes.

For the reports, we might at some future point offer download versions. But we have reservations here too - valuable content like Liz Greene's personal reports should be presented and packaged in an adequate form. A stack of sheets coming out of your inkjet printer is in many respects not an adequate form. There is a 'relationship between form and content', which colours our perception of said content.

How can I receive the Barycentric (mostly the Sun's) information for B.C. dates? I am interested in the Barycentric information for Krishna(Jun/July -3227 B.C), Buddha(April -622 B.C), and around the time/date of Christ's birth(-7 to -4 B.C). I appreciate your help/website.

Hello and thank you for your excellent site. Reviewing what is happening for my older child as well as myself has been very helpful.

It would be really useful to be able to easiy access transits for my five year old, who has been going through a Uranus conjunct Sun and Pluto square Mars period. I have been looking at the wheel charts from time to time but even if lists without the interpretations were available, it would be so much more user-friendly.

Would you consider this, if your decision was based on a sense that the interpretations were too adult to apply to a child? After all, children have transits too!!!

All the best,

Danke Schoen Alois, for the glitch fix-it as the planetoid codes now remain fixed after pressing the browser back. Previously they would be erased, which is why I was requesting a table for
the biggest planetoids as per: http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.html?pid=9446
It was laborious to have to repeatedly enter these numerous times. Zane Stein has good commentary on Centaur Chariklo, and I daresay this body is equally important with Chiron.
I would even vote for a name switch, since Mrs. Chariklo seems to be functioning in tandem with hyper-male Uranus. Can you run this thought by your friend Dr. Greene at tea time?
I'm sure this Centaur plus Quaoar, Varuna and AW 197 will prove to be significant. Perhaps Ixion, as a Plutino will be discovered to come under Scorpio's domain. OK, bye....

To Daniel Dascalu:
It is not any kind of coincidence that your Sun sign and ascendant sign, Cancer, are the same. As many people are born in the morning, and as the Sun rises in the morning in the east, and as the ascendant is in the sign on the eastern horizon at birth, many people are double a particular sign. One might say that the Sun represents your ego, what you aspire to, and
how you shine (phrase from Maritha Pottenger, I think). Your ascendant indicates your approach to life, your style and how you appear to others, unless planets around the ascendant or in the first house contradict or complement. It doesn't seem to be a bad thing for your outer demeanor to match your sense of self or ego. You can explore Astrodienst or many astrology books for more information, or for how this might manifest for the sign Cancer.

Alois adds: Astrodienst offers excellent free services on its website. To be able to continue this quality service, we need sufficient funding. This is even more true in economically challenging times.

The 'extended daily horoscope' subscriptions help us to provide this funding. There is a surprising number of users of www.astro.com who understand this, and support the website bei either ordering our reports, or by subscribing to extended online services. We are grateful for the large number of subscriptions we have received so far, and which we are still receiving every day.

Many of our visitors are satisfied with the basic daily horoscope service. If you think you really need the extended service, you will certainly be able to set aside the 2.66 Euro per month you need to pay for it. Otherwise, the free thursdays are an option.

Is it possible to see the primarily directed planets (either in themselves or in composition with the natal chart) like it is for the transited and progressed cases ?
Thanks a lot.

Please see Extended chart selection -> group Astrodienst special -> Primary directions for special diagrams which do show the primary direction arcs.

Clarissa Henry

Alois adds: happy to answer:

a) The internal logic of the Astro Intelligence reports by Liz Greene is based on a synthetic analysis of the chart. The patterns considered in this analysis are rich and complex. There is no way to assign just single chart elements (like single aspects, sign or house positions) to the text of the reading. The reports are FUNDAMENTALLY different from other, more trivial, horoscope readings, which lack usually all synthesis. This is why no "astrological aspects" can be given. Also, we do not want to disclose the well kept 'trade secrets' of how our analysis works.

b) The services we provide are predominantly intended for non-astrologers. The typical reader of any of our reports is not interested in technical astrological details, but in the actual MEANING of the chart. As an example from another field: When someone is interested in a new car, the chemical composition of the paint and body of the car is also not of interest, nor are the construction details of the engine, except for very few specialists.

I want to express how much I enjoy your site, and am also interested in learning if you provide astrocartography readings, or if you might have a recommendation as to where I could have one done?

You might have a look at Erin Sullivan's list of services.A reading ASTRO*CARTO*GRAPHY / RELOCATION / TRAVEL - Fee: $230 U.S. is among them, and Erin does offer to do it over the phone. Erin Sullivan resides in New Mexico. Among her books is Where in the World? Astro*Carto*Graphy and Relocation.

Well, I was all set to order a vocational report but then I read George Bush's. Is there any way it could be more wrong? He's consistently cut social welfare to give to the rich, his own troups are suffering from uranium poisoning, the midwest is dying from his cold policies. Where's the compassion exactly? He's lied about everything from top to bottom, led the country into an internationally illegal war and sent in his own corporate friends to prey on the chaos. Where's the ethics, the ideals? I'm not seeing it, folks. I suggest that you remove that particular sample if you want to sell vocational reports to those of us with a brain cell working.

Alois adds: I agree that it might not be such a good idea to use such a polarizing personality as a horoscope sample. I have followed your suggestion and removed this particular sample.

On the other side, there are certainly more and deeper levels to discover in a person who has made it to become US president, than you are willing to see with your somewhat one-sided perspective.

Also, a personal horoscope reading your receive from us will never be written 'to put down' a person. This would be very distructive. And because the published VIP samples are not edited to fit the current public image, you will never find the kind of negative portrait you apparently would like to see about this particular politician.

In reply to Pam Young--
Yay! I'm really glad that you looked at my horoscope because I've secretly always wanted someone who knows about astrology to read mine and be like wow so that's you! hey! Don't apologize, it made my day. Well I supposed it's not surprising since Saturn is squaring Venus soon for me =( plus I'm feeling kind of tense lately because the sun is transiting my 4th house. It wouldn't matter except that I still have 4 natal planets in the 7th house and 2 in the 11th, and venus and the sun in libra--in other words I still get lonely and want to socialize, yet recently have been feeling more comfortable just at home. So it's an internal struggle. The natal sun squaring the moon should do that to me anyway. Thanks very much for helping me clear that up--and email me sometime, I would love to chat more about horscopes since none of my friends believe in them so I can't really talk to them about it. Bye!
