Dear Astro Team...
I am a shaman and use astrology and myth to help me unlocked the Teachings of
the Night of the pre-patriarcal goddesses. I recently did a group quest
leading 7 people into Dream'Time. One of my participators had the Goddess
Wadjet (Egyptian) enter her session. Since I am able to track and enter the
clients DreamTime, both my Client and Wadjet was present.
I see there are not many Egyptian Goddesses Listed in your Asteroid list. Do
you know of a program that I can find more?
Sincerely, Mary

In reply to Queally of Washington, DC, since I'm on vacation with some time
to spare, I had a look at your data hope you don't mind! The Forecast report
gives the length of the Saturn transit to your Venus as lasting from July 8
through to July 24, while the Personal Daily Horoscope, under Important
Long-term Influences, says it lasts from July 8 through to mid March of 2004.
The Forecast report only lists the transits through at most the following
six months, while the length of the transits listed under Important Long-term
Influences seems to cover the total length of the transit, taking account of
planets retrograding, etc. Saturn has only recently entered Cancer, will hit
your Venus, pass it, then retrograde and hit it again, before moving on. So
actually both reports are correct, but the one mentioning March 2004 is more
complete. While I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear, I hope
that at least it helps to clarify things for you.

Hi, Saturn will be squaring Venus in my birth chart soon but I'm sort of
confused. I was looking ahead at how long it would last and a few days ago
it said from July 8th 2003 to about the 28th or something, but recently I've
looked again and it's changed to July 8th 2003 till mid-March 2004. I have
my personal horoscope from another place too and it says the shorter one is
right, well I was wondering why this changed and which one is true because I
don't want the longer one to be true! The same goes for Saturn squaring my
ascendant: it was over like a few weeks ago, but suddenly its back. I havn't
change my birth data or anything.
Thanks

AS Always, thank you for this site.
Even though I have been studying astology since 14, I was not convinced until
Liz Green studied my natal and revealed my parent's personalities. Also,
described my shadows in depth and how to benefit from them. The Astro
Intelligence is a well written report with incredibe insight of the inner
you.
An interesting fact! My children were born when My Sun had progressed to the
exact degree of Part of Fortune. The oldest, the exact degree and the
youngest, 2 degrees within orb. They have brought me Fortune spiritually and
many other ways.

Dear Dr. Treindl,
Thank you for providing such a terrific site. It has been of great help to me
for several years now.
May I ask two quick questions?
-The aspect charts have glyphs that sometimes show a comma or apostrophe
within the cell. What does the comma/apostrophe mean?
-Where on this site can I find more information on how to study the
Progressed Chart?
Again, thank you so much for all your work.

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. I am happy to answer these two questions:
a) the tick marks appear only in 'additional data tables' for inter-chart aspects (aspects
between one set of planets and another set of planets), e.g. Synastry. there, the tick
indicates 'wide orb, i.e. more than 50% of maximum orb -> less relevant aspect.
b) Onsite there is no article which 'teaches' progressions from the ground up.
Liz Greene uses progressions in many of her articles, and you can learn a lot from those
examples if you take the time to dig into them.
For book references, please see Understanding Astrology -> Further reading -> Forecasting -> Marion March / Joan McEvers: The Only Way to Learn About Tomorrow
There will be plenty of other books on progressions in the astrology bookshops
which we do not know. Please check them out.

Alois adds: Google indexes those pages which the 'google robot' sees when he
visits the website (nearly every day). Now, the 'google robot' does not see
your horoscopes, but actually his own (if you look at the 'cached page' at Google,
your find out what data the robot sees).
This creates some index entries which make no sense for other visitors, because
they will not see Google Robot's horoscopes, but their own, with different content.
This is problem related to the way the Google system works when it visits a website
with personalized content. I recommend that you ignore
the dynamical horoscope pages which you find in Google's search results.
When you enter the search term 'Sun square Saturn' in our Google search box, you get 268
hits. Many of them go to static papges on our site whose content makes whose sense
in regard to the question. These pages do contain the three words of the query.

For valid during [a specified period of time], the exactitude varies for each
transit. Some of the planets, such as Mercury during a retrograde period,
travel back and forth for a more considerable distance (in apparent motion
from Earth) than slow-moving planets, such as Neptune, so the precision of an
aspect to a natal position will vary. However, since issues are repeated in
this general time frame, the readings seem to be considered valid for the
duration. When they are close to exact, they are listed on the daily

Hallo gutes Astro Team,

Datenbank.
Dann sehen wir, was Sie sehen.
Hans Gerber [ zukunft.xyz*xyz.hispeed.ch --- .xyz*xyz. -> * ]
Zürich, Schweiz --- Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 14:24 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Haus. Das können Sie sehen via Erweiterte Horoskopauswahl->Gruppe Astrodienst
Spezial->3-dimensionale Horoskopzeichnung.

Alois adds: The astrological rule system imbedded in the software which creates Transits
of the Year is much more sophisticated and intelligent in selecting the important themes
for a 12-month period.
In contrast, the software for 'Short report forecast' is rather simple, and it does
not list all important issues by design.
In the daily horoscope, the long term transits indicated on a given day are selected
also by much simpler rules. This is why different themes may be mentioned.
You can rely on the fact that the selection in Transits of the Year focuses on the more
important issues. In the daily horoscope, you will find ADDITIONAL transit events in the course of the year, with abbreviated text.
I must say, I've read the charts and they are amazingly correct!

Pluto in fifth house, in trine with Ascendent and two bad aspects(opposition
with Saturn in 11th house and square with Moon in 8th house). It is very
similar Configuration. And that is without to look to Natal Chart. Can you
believe it? I was studying Solar Arc, Primary Directions. Nothing was true in

Let me just say that I've been happily lost in this website since I
discovered it about a month ago. It's like having a winning lottery ticket.
I knew it would be First Class when I saw that Liz Greene helped initiate it
but it's surpassed all expectations.
Through some postings on the forum I've become acquainted with Lord of
the Geniture and have had some revelations about my natal chart. I'm
wondering if it would be possible to build a program that could calculate it
automatically as part of the Extended Horoscope page. It would encourage
more people to use this in their own charts instead of assuming the Ascendant
ruler is the chart ruler. At any rate, this website is opening new doors for
me daily. THANKS!

Alois adds: Lord of the Geniture is a traditional concept found in Lilly's work. It seems
to lack a clear and generally-agreed on definition, according to Lee Leeman.
At Astrodienst, we are somewhat reluctant to introduce concepts of medieval and antique
astrology, even when some astrology circles have turned that into the recent fashion.
If we can get a definition of the concept, which is generally agreed on, we might give
it a try.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I have already done what you suggested with
the ruler etc. but there are so often many conflicting aspects, some
excellent, some dreadful, that it is difficult to know which are more active
than others, especially when two thick lines give such different versions of
the possibilities. I understand perfectly your remarks about the vast scope
of interpretation, only in bad times it would be nice to have a glimmer of
hope!
Thanks all the same.

Paris, France --- Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 07:23 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds:
For the Transits of the Year, you might want to concentrate on Chapter II - The most important issues of the year.
For the Yearly Horoscope Analysis, the focus of reading should be Chapter II - The year's main themes.
I am afraid the kind of grouping by theme area you find in Yearly Horoscope Analysis is a far as synthesis can go, without knowing from client input what is of particular
interest.
In any given year, there are always a lot of incoherent, often contradictory
astrological influences. Even for an experienced human astrologer it is very difficult
to synthesize such patterns into one coherent picture. For a computerized report, the
basically unlimited number of possible combinations makes an extended synthesis impossible.
There are too many combinations which would have to be pre-written.
We are concentrating already to a large extent the themes which appear in the report,
by putting emphasis on the more relevant ones and letting out mayn others. Without such
pruning, the reports would have about three times the volume they have, and appear
much more confusing.
In both reports, there is a graphical overview (page 4 in Yearly Horoscope, page 2 in
Transits of the year). We think that the essential information to get an overview is the
timing dynamics, and therefore we have chosen a representation as a 'time bar diagram'.
Another graphical representation in the form of a more traditional (round) chart drawing
with aspects would fail to visualize the time dimension, which is of crucial importance.
Please try to familiarize yourself with the time-bar overview. It is convenient to
place a vertical ruler on the page, to see which transits/progressions are active at any
given moment. The page number references give you easy access to the relevant
readings.

trace of actual birth data (date, time and place): How in the heavens

But you ought to know whether the Sun was above or below the horizone when you were born. Only with one of both Ascendants you quote this can be correct, so you
can easily exclude the false one. However, you can have made many other errors
in manual calculation.
Considering the degree of confusion expressed in your

Alois adds: A birth certificate with a given birth time of 3:45 is a strong
argument in favour of that birth time. A 'correction' by two full hours
is very doubtful in my eyes.
Some astrologers try to impress their clients by putting themselves above
objectively given data, and I have serious doubts in regard to the claims
of such astrologers. There may be cases where such an astrologer is right -
close personal knowledge of the person in question is an essential requirement
for that. We cannot dare to diagnose that detail from remote.
I assume that your astrologer saw something 'leonine' and 'fiery' in your
appearance, and found that you had only Saturn in a fire sign. Then she
was struggling with the data to get more fire into your chart, by manipulating
the Ascendant from Virgo into 29 degrees Leo. Because Virgo is rising
very slowly, a manipulation of more than 2 hours was needed.
I think this is very questionable.
The conclusion from 'leonine' or 'fiery' is not strong enough. It can be
a purely psychological effect: that you compensate the actual lack of the fire
element by developing such an appearance, and other 'fiery' personality traits.
Liz Greene - as far as I understand
her with my limited astrological experience - has found many such cases, where overcompensation of a missing element
leads to a strong expression of exactly that element which is missing in the
chart. There are many 'thinking types' with missing air element in the chart,
and many 'feeling types' with no water.
To change the recorded birth time by two hours
is a very big step, and if it is based in addition to appearance traits on
tarot readings or other divinatory
procedures, I cannot really take it serious. I recommend that you stick to your recorded birth time.
There is another point you can check. I have had a look at your chart, and with the recorded birth time you
get a powerful Venus placement exactly at the MC. Please check the Psychological
Horoscopes you have ordered for both birth data versions, in 2001 and 2002,
and re-read the section on your mother (chapter IV). If the one in the
3:45pm report rings more true than the one in the 1:40 pm report, it will
be a strong support for my position.
PS: Thank you for your frequent orders in the last two years!

Just a note to say that astrology like this and the accuracy of your comments
is astounding, but surely it goes against all principles to charge for
services like these! This site used to help me understand myself and the
things going on in my life but now this has been taken away from many of us.
Some of us have not the money and to find a site that had certain readings
free was why i reccommended to all my friends (most are members now) and also
generates more business for you! Maybe you should reconsider taking away the
free parts of your site.

is easily done with
Free Horoscopes -> extended chart selection -> Group Astrodienst Special -> Transit Calendar (for 3 years).
When you want a reading pointing out which transits are really important and

If just want an abbreviated reading, get the subscription

I was reading your response to Laussel regarding her issue with birthtime.. I
was hoping you would be so kind as to address a question for me.. why is it
that astrologers claim I have a pisces rising but on this web site it states
that 6:23 am on the day I was born is an aquarious rising.. if I could get
some clarity on that and how I should interpret the info I would be
grateful.. also does anyone have any insight on the full moon this weekend
and the bad aspects for mutable signs?
Thanks,

your timezone is EDT (4 hours west of Greenwich). Many "astrologers" use incomplete
and false daylight saving time information. In consequence, they produce incorrect charts, and
incorrect astrological information derived from these charts. Astrodienst

The reason why in 1974 daylight saving time began already in January: it
was the winter of the first 'oil crisis'.

refer to Lois Rodden (bless her soul) but I do not have her program to double

source they said the got it from ASTRODIENTS! Curious. Can anyone clarify? It
only makes a 2 degree difference on the angels, but that 2 degrees is from 29

Dear Astrodienst Staff
I am not happy with the fact that I can no longer get an explanation of what
the chosen transits are for the daily horoscope. I know that it is not all
of the transits, and that is fine. Why give the transits, and make the
explanations 'subscriber only'? You might as well not give them at all, and
therefore relegate your very great organization to the level of the newspaper
daily generic horoscopes. :-( I dont expect you to give everything away for
free, and I am glad the subscriber service is available. In the meantime, I
will not have any understanding about my daily horoscope, which I appreciated
as a reliable source of spiritual guidance, especially coming from this
organization.

I notice the daily horoscope entries contain the entry of the planets into
the houses. There is significant overlap in the activity period of the
transit. I assume this is based on the orbis of the planet. For example Mars
enters the 10th on 28 Apr 03, activity continues till 14 Oct 03 but Mars
enters the 11th on 21 Jun 03 and continues till 31 Dec 03. How is the overlap
calculated and how much significance is given to each House?

To Laussel,
I shouldn't second-guess Alois, because he wants you to have accurate
information and my suggestion will lead to a mixture, but you might try using
6 a.m. (or maybe it would be better to use dawn of the day of your birthday,
I'm not sure). You know that you will not get anything if you don't put in
some time on the birth data page. If you put in 6 a.m. what you will have is
most of the planets in the correct signs, except for planets on the cusp
between two signs, and also, since at dawn every day the rising sign is the
same as the Sun sign, 6 a.m. will give you something like the solar houses
instead of the conventional birth chart, but with many of the same meanings
as the birth chart. The transits you will get to your planets will be pretty
good, except for the transits to your Moon, and you can't use the transits to
Ascendant and Midheaven, because you won't know them. Don't pay much
attention to the readings for the houses either, especially if you just use
the Personal Daily Horoscope, and also you cannot use much of the Partner
section because that uses composite charts. But you might be able to use the
synastric charts and many other features, as long as you don't pay much
attention to houses, Ascendant and Midheaven.
I don't want Alois to be mad at me because he doesn't want you to have wrong
information, but if you can't get your birth time that's what I would do and
have done, and I think you would get a lot of valid information out of trying
this.

I think this website is a fantistic resource for anyone in any stage of their
knowledge of astrology and the insight it offers. I have enjoyed your
services for a number of years. One of the things that impressed me the most
was the number of free services. While I understand that you have costs to
cover, I am very disappointed to see the free services cut so dramatically,
most especially the extended sections of the daily horoscope. Many people,
myself included, are barely getting by and can not afford to subscribe. This
was one of the few places I could enjoy on my income. I urge you to seek
creative, alternative funding sources for the daily horoscopes. There are
many foundations throughout the world that I am sure would offer a grant of
some sort for such educational purposes. I do hope you find the necessary
support. Respectfully submitted,
Lauren
New Orleans, LA --- Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 13:04 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback.
Saturday is a good day for a Saturnian answer - practical and down to earth.
I dare to recommend that you search - creatively - for funding to be able to subscribe to the professional services you believe you need
for your education. One of the most creative sources of income is paid work.
By working, you do something meaningful and satisfying for others, to receive funds which you can use freely for whatever you like to do with them.
We are talking about 31.95 USD per year - at a low wage representing something like three or four hours of work salary.
Another creative possibility is to spend the money on a book like Robert Hand's Planets in Transit. Then you can look up the readings for those transits listed in our
daily horoscope, without subscribing to the online click-interpretation
service. This will have the advantage that it is a one-time investment and
serves you year after year.
A very convenient transit timing overview is found at
Free Horoscopes -> extended chart selection -> Group Astrodienst Special -> Transit Calendar (for 3 years or 6 months, with various degrees of detail).
When you think about the matter a bit more, you will find that the
service has NOT been reduced dramatically. The data are all there - for free -
and the interpretation you are begging for is very easy to get from a standard reference book.
Even your local community library might hold the book. Used
copies I see advertised at amazon.com and ebay.com starting at $10.
The click-interpretation service is really only needed for those who like full comfort, and are willing to pay for this comfort. It's like using the taxi instead of going by bicycle or jogging or walking. All three alternatives
are free, and much healthier than the comfort service.
Love your site.Have been using it free for years. The interactive charts are
great-kudos to your java programmers. The subscription process was handled
very professionally. I believe the fee to be reasonable and am happy to be a
subscriber. Even happier now that you have reduced the number of clicks
needed to get to the daily horoscope. Keep up the good work. Thanks for all
your hard work providing this service.

I've been getting interested in using astrology to analyze my relationships

information?

Alois adds: The Psychological Horoscope (written for adults) has a special
chapter which deals with the 'image of the parents in your chart'.
Please have a look at the sample horoscopes to get an idea how this sounds.
Liz Greene's Child Horoscope, which is written for the parents to read
about their child, does also contain an important section about the image
of the parents, as perceived by the child. It is much "milder" in tone,
because it is written for the parents as reader. The parental image in the
Psychological Horoscope can be pretty sharp, as it is not written for your
parents to read, but for yourself.
If you look for a relationship horoscope between the child's chart and
one of the parents, you can try the Horoscope for Two by Mona Riegger. This
reading is designed not only for love relationships, but also applicable to
relationships within a family or work team. There might still be 'love related'
elements in the reading, which you have to translate into a different context
yourself.
I am thinking about subscribing to your site's excellent daily horoscope
service, but am wondering if you have considered posting the times and
durations of void of course moons. It would be a great addition to the daily
horoscopes. I currently have to look elsewhere for that info and I think it
would be a a valuable addition to your service.
Thanks for all the years it was free by the way and I completely understand
why that's no longer possible!

Alois adds: We are considering the addition of mundane aspects and VOC data, but
it will be a while before this wil be added. There is so much useful information which could be added, but this makes the daily horoscope pages even more
complex, and more confusing for many non-specialist users. Possibly, we will
make the 'mundane data' an optional feature, or a click-to-popup feature, so
we do not clutter the horoscope page.
Dear Alois:
I know what you think of the whole 13th Sign thing, but feel that knowing
what constellation appeared nearest the horizon (the ascending constellation)
at the time of birth could have some use in some situations, as well as a
picture of the constellations as they would have appeared (if the sky were
dark) at birth. Is this possible? I'm still pretty new to serious astrology
research, so I'm not sure where to look.
Overall, I prefer the Tropical system (after having read several different
viewpoints, including your own insights posted in the Archives) for daily
use, but am wondering where I'd find more information on drawing a skymap for
my birthtime/location.
If you have a moment to shoot me a link or recommend a book or few, I'd be
extraordinarily grateful. Same goes to anyone reading this if you don't have
the time. :)
Thanks much!

But if you know the place of birth and the name of the biological mother,

Dear Alois,
Thank you very much for your answer concerning my Chiron question. Actually,
I'm currently studying the Reinhart book and I find it fascinating - its
Mythological and Astrological information. It's my 1st book on Chiron and an
excellent choice. Well, thanks again.
To Everyone: Regardless of what others seem so concerned about, I personally
think there are loads of information still here at Astro that is very very
useful to people at any level of Astrological awareness. For example, when I
wanted to see the Asteroid placements in my chart, this was the 1st site I
looked into because of the excellent FREE charts offered here. Similarly,
when I became interested in Astro*Carto*Graphy, I found the AstroClick Travel
FREE service highly useful. I still use both these services, and I'd be
greatly saddened if they were taken away. My point is this: there are still
so many wonderful features of this site that are still available FOR FREE.
Possibly if visitors could get off the bandwagon of nagging these very
generous astrologers running this site over such trivial things? They have to
eat just like everyone else! :) The economy stinks and sometimes corners have
to be cut. So what! There are too many great services here that are still
being provided for free, for so much negativity to be being thrown about.
Let's lighten up a little - and give the Earth a chance to sigh. It is so sad
to me that it seems a world epidemic that the most generous and kind
inhabitants of it are always the ones to be so highly criticized. The World
itself is out of balance because of similar ways of relating - let us not
even pollute astro.com's feedback forum with such trivial, negative
nonsense.
Thanks again AstroDienst,
Michelle

to see the onset of charging for daily horoscope interpretations. I have
actively supported your organization (told all my colleagues about your
fantastic site!) and purchased many, many reports over the years (check my

fair. Moreover, I don't think it's my responsibility to 'pay' for your
expansion into other languages as I regard that as your business decision to

Alois adds: Like some other feedback writers, you seem to be throwing out the child with the bath water. fact is, that the Personal daily horoscope is as free as ever before. You can easily
access its central content, the personal reading for yesterday, today, and tomorrow without any subscription or registration, day by day and year by year, for as many
persons' data as you like.
The only thing which has changed is the access to addional sub-navigation items.
These have always been used only by a minority of 'power users'. Many of these
'power users' had already subscribed to the extended version of the daily
horoscope, which allows also navigation to any date within a period of five years.
Now, also the navigation to the sub-details has become part of the subscription
area. The additional revenue we receive from these subscriptions allows us
to keep the extensive free services running.
I don't think that many people
would like us to close down our operation for lack of funding. Sometimes
decisions need to be made which are not popular with consumers or tax payers,
but which serve the long term survival of an institution.
I am afraid I need to say that nobody who has ordered items from Astrodienst
in the past has "paid his/her way" for unlimited future use of our services.
We also do not offer something like a 'ten year' or 'lifetime' subscription.
We could not honestly guarantee that we exist in ten years from now. We certainly
hope so, and it seems likely given our talent and our 23-year track record,
but we do not know.
