Alois,
An acquaintance, currently studying astrology, recently told me of a 3 year
period of personal difficulty/struggle which happens to everyone at some
point in their life - and that this 3 year period is determined by planet
placements etc.
I have been learning more about astrology, but I have heard nothing of this.
Have you?
Please let me know. If there is such a period - would you be able to tell me
when I could anticipate mine - or if it has passed?
Thanks for this great site.

hallo,

Guten Tag,

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what this war will lead us to, and how
long it might take, what the stars say about America's actions for the year
2003.
As an American and an activist, we are under seige, our news coverage is
censored, we're are being surveyed by the police, and Ashcroft is destroying
all our civil rights, one by one, quite fast. Most of us progressive feel so
helpless and all the protesting and work we do seems to fall on very deaf

It contains readings of these transits:
Uranus square Saturn * Saturn square Moon * Saturn square Mars * Jupiter trine Mercury * Saturn square Pluto * Saturn opposition Sun * Jupiter trine Jupiter
There is a considerable number of Saturn squares and oppositions involved.
These are challenging issues.
But please be aware: Each difficulty has more than one side, and there

The text does describe that
carefully. Please take the time to read it completely, instead of
turning away at the first notice of a problem.
I'm looking at the horoscope of George W. Bush with war against Iraq likely
in a few hours time. What concerns me is the most appropriate application of
the Northern Node.
Mean, which I have used for thirty years, places the Node at 19 36' Gemini.
The True places it at 20 35' Gemini.
Two very different Sabian Symbols.
With the Mean there is a same degree conjunction with Uranus, this
conjunction opposed in the same degree by Pluto.
With the True there is neither the same degree conjunction with Uranus within
the same Sabian Symbol nor opposition to this conjunction.
More crucially, Pluto, with the mean, has been in opposition to the Node
since January 22 - use the True Pluto has not yet been in the same degree
opposition to George W. Bush's Northern Node, and will not be in that until
December 18.
Raphael's continue to use the Mean.
Does the reality at the UN since January 22 describe Pluto in the same degree
opposition to George W. Bush's Uranus and Mean Northern Node conjunction, all
within the same Sabian Symbols, the war within hours, or is it going to be
better described in December?
Events central to this question are those of March 10, March 11, the Sun at
the midpoints.

I had just a question, out of curiosity, would any of the astrologers have an

Dear Astrodienst,
I find your website to be the most comprehensive astrology-related site on
the Net, and I consult it very often, esp. one of its unique features,
AstroClickTravel. My question: do the information given for places on the map
change according to planetary transits? I clicked Rome, Italy in February
2001 and then again in March 2003 and the report is slightly different -
there is a Moon/Mars aspect, but Sun/Moon's Node influence is not shown
anymore. Also, Seattle report was more detailed back then, displaying more
aspects such as Moon trine/sextile MC (existing within a 17 km range). I
stated identical birth data on both occasions, the only difference is that
the computer I used in 2001 had better technical performance. Why are the
reports not identical, and which one is more accurate? I don't know whether
you've already answered this sort of questions. This is the only
inconsistency I encountered in an Astrodienst service. Otherwise, it's a
first class site.
Thank you in advance!

This is for the girl who wanted to know about the finger of God aspect.
Hi Jennie,
This is the physcial shape of the apect as I know it.
It involves a sextile and an opposition. The sextile
(2 planets 60 degree's apart) and then the midpoint of
the two planets (for example: venus in Scorpio * 14
degrees mars in carpricorn * 12 degrees) the
midpoint of these two planets would be Sagittarius *
13 degrees. To make the finger of God there would have
to be a planet * 13 degrees in Gemini.(Opposing the
mid point of the two planets in sextile.) It is much
easier to explain if I could draw it for you but I'm
not that talented on computers.
As to what exactly the aspect finger of God means, I'm
a little less sure. I believe it is also called a Yod.
My friend and I call it the fickle finger of fate
award.(Are you old enough to remember Laugh-in?)
I hope this helps you at least know if you have one in
your chart

A few people were asking about learning more about astrology. There is a
horoscope magazine that comes out every month and it lists the various areas
where there is an astrological group it also lists verious information about
planets, transits, all kinds of good information and it costs only 1.92 (US)
per issue. I don't know if we're allowed to give a phone number but it is
1-800-888-6901. It's a very good magazine to arouse interest in astrology
and they even review various books that have been written about astrology.
It gives forecasts and it explains at times, the forces that shape our lives.
I thinks it's great. In the April issue they showed how to figure out an
electional chart and the things to look for, in short, it has all kinds of
good things.

Dear Alois,
I would like to know if there is any significance to the colors shown on the
Astrodienst Charts with respect to the Aspected Lines...the colors are Red,
Green, Blue...and sometimes where there is a stellium or convergence I see a
line on the circle part...Thanx so much for your reply....I am referring to
the Astrodienst Style of Chart...particularly....Yours truly - Claudia

Alois adds: The color coding depends a bit on chart style, but the general
rule is red = difficult aspects (opposition, square) and blue = soft
aspects (trine, sextile, semisextile). Green is 'neutral'.
Conjunctions are also marked in red, even when they are not necessarily difficult.
Dear Alois,
I was wondering if you could possibly help me narrow down the correct
coordinates for a particular location, which is not presently in the atlas.
The location is Kokanee Lake, a small lake in the Kokanee Glacier Park in
southeast British Columbia, Canada. It's where Michel Trudeau, son of Pierre
Elliott Trudeau, died in an avalanche a few years ago. I can't locate the
exact latitude and longitude, despite poring through atlases and the
internet. The closest I've been able to come is the town of Slocan, which is
a bit west of the lake. The lake is also north of the city of Nelson, and
southwest of Kaslo. Could you get closer to the exact coordinates, or do you
think those of Slocan are close enough? Thanks, Pam

Guelph, Canada --- Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 20:36 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: Precision of location is only relevant if you have precise time
as well. If the time has an uncertainty of +- 1 minute, the location can
have +- 10 miles. It is pointless to ask for precise location, if you
have no precise time for a birth or event.
And even then - if the way you read a chart does not require precision
by degree and minute of ascendant and house cusps, it is again pointless
to ask for high precision in the underlying data.
With a ruler and a pocket calculator, it should be easy to extract
coordinates from any map, as long as you know the coordinates of some
cities shown on the map. It is simple elementary school math, even
without a coordinate grid on the map. Draw your own, given the known
locations of cities.
Once you have coordinates, let me know and I will add 'Trudeau Avalanche
Location' to the atlas.
This is one of my favorite websites. Having the ability to see a personal
daily horoscope is great. I've noticed lately, though, that most of the
aspects lists are just Moon aspects. Is that because of the planetary
positions lately or is the daily horoscope narrowing down to primarily the
Moon?

Amsterdam, Holland --- Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 17:27 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: In the average, there is about one planetary aspect per calendar day,
the rest are Moon aspects. That is a fact of nature, not a choice made by us.
We have 12 natal chart factors (10 planets, Asc and MC). Each has 8 aspect
points (conj, opp, 2 x square, 2 x trine, 2 x sextile). That makes 96 aspect
points in the circle. The Sun, Mercury and Venus move by approx. 360 degrees
per year (a bit more due to retrograde slings of Mercury and Venus),
Mars moves by 180 degrees per year. That gives about 350 transit events
per year by these 4 planets over the 96 natal aspect points, or approx.
one event per day. The slower planets cover together only about 90 degrees
of the zodiac per year, i.e. make only 25 aspects in the average. They do not
add much to the statistics - even when their transits are the really important
ones.
The Moon goes over all 96 aspect points in 27 days, i.e. it makes about 4
transits per day.
Jennifer,
the finger of god is the YOD-figure. It has consists of three planets with

figure.

Hi!
I need some help, I'm trying to calculate the astrological ephemeris but I
cant find some algorithm to do it. I found too many info about planets and
orbits in astronomical pages but there is nothing about astrology almost
anywhere. With all that I managed to calculate the black moon ephemeris with
a 10 line of code ... example:
J = Int(365.255 * (y - (m 3))) + Int(30.2001 * (m + 1 + 12 * (m 3))) + d -
Int(y / 100) + Int(y / 400) + 1720996.5
If y / 100 = Int(y / 100) And y / 400 Int(y / 400) And m 3 Then
J = J + 1
...
Where can I find something like this but to calculate the astrological
ephemeris for the rest of the planets without needing to use the
swiss.dll?
Hope you can help me.
Thank you!

only the charts of people, not of event dates.
Our authors understand a lot about
the human psyche and about 'how people function', but not about the background and context
of your particular event dates.
An event chart is much more limited in its scope than the birthchart
of a hman being. While a birth chart can be read be an astrologer who understands humans, an event chart can only be interpreted in a meaningful way if the
astrologer knows a lot about the context of the event.

I think you expect too much from the web. To study an established
field of knowledge like astrology, you should
- join a local astrology school or study group
- find a quality bookshop and/or library in your area and READ.
Asking for explanations on websites will not work as a surrogate for
serious studies, using the existing vast body of astrological literature.
I love your site so much that I feel I have to write to you and let you know
about it. You helped me but the fellow who referred to those people as
vampires really hit the spot. I had a chart done and really enjoyed it. It
seems that people only want to know only the good stuff. I have Sun conj.
Saturn so discipline and the truth do not phase me. My advice would be
before youo start criticising - get your chart done - find out if you have an
aptitude for Astrology and start reading, studying, forming astro group,
anything. You'll find it's worth many bottles of pills and visits to the
psychiatrist. We learn more from astrology than from anything else about
life. Is it any wonder that kings, many of the presidents of the USA were
avid students of astro.
So get off your ass,and the computer and start studying or order a chart.

can go on endlessly to discover new things. A lot of what you find at Astrodienst
reflects my personal style and my personal preferences, I am afraid.
As our site contains thousands
of pages, besides all the dynamical content which is individually generated
anyway, it will never be possible to 'navigate easily'.
The most popular features on our website are the free horoscopes - more
than 90 percent of our site accesses belong to these. The free personalized
horoscopes are designed to be EASY to navigate, and they are.
The other areas of our website are more like a treasure chest, where
you can find discoveries if you take the time to look around.
At some point in the future we will add a search engine on-site.
For the moment, please use Google. If you add to your google searches
the term:
site:www.astro.com
then Google will only show hits for pages from our website. Because
Google has our website very well indexed, this serves a s a good search
feature! On long pages, like the guestbook archive, you will still need the help
of your browser's 'find in page' feature to locate a particular keyword.
Example: you want to find where Bill Gates is mentioned on our site.
use google to enter:
bill gates site:www.astro.com
At this moment, Google shows 163 hits for that search. Because our site is currently
in six languages, many of the hits will not be of interest to you, of course.
Please anyone: Where can i learn interpretations on intercepted houses??!!!
Cannot find much anywhere. Why is this info left out of textbooks? Someone

CT, USA --- Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at 17:22 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: I am not sure that one really needs to know that. But this
is a possible way to find out:
- find your birth time in UT (universal time) in 24-hour style notation. It is listed near the top
in our chart drawings. Depending on timezone, the date may be different from
your normal birthdate by one day.
- go to this page and
find your birth year in the table. Click on the letter 'A' besides the year
number, NOT on the year number.
- An Acrobat PDF document will open which contains a list of all mundane
planetary aspects in the course of that year. Also the sign entries of all
planets including the Moon are liste, all dates and times in Universal Time.
- find the sign change of the Moon after your birthdate/time. This is the
end of the void of course period closest to your birth.
- now find the entry closest to your birthtime (in UT) in that list.
If between this entry and the next Moon sign change there is another
Moon aspect listed, (consider only major aspects conjunct, opposition,
trine, square, sextile, disregard semisextile, semisquare etc): then your
birth is NOT in the void of course period.
- if there is NO major Moon aspect listed between your birthtime and the next
sign change, then your birth is in a void of course period.
Example: A's birthdate is 7 March 1950, 08:15 UT. The next lunar sign
change is at 14:56 on the same day. There is a Moon trine Mercury listed at
14:02, between A's birth and the sign change. This means that A is NOT born
in a VOC period.
About 10% of the population are born in VOC period. I do not think that it does
them any harm.

aspects and I would like to know something about... Anybody help me? Liz
Greene doesn't... Best regards from Croatia, Alex

Alois adds: In the course of a year, there are several hundreds of personal
transits. Our reports select the ones which are most relevant in the
light of the interpretation models we are using.
If you are an astrologer,
it is perfectly possible that your rules for what is most important are
different from those used by Liz Greene or our other authors. It is a fact
that different astrologers have different viewpoints.
I think you should
accept that, if you ask for an interpretation by another astrologer, he/she
uses his/her viewpoint and his/her rules, and not yours.
Dear Alois, why some astrologer count Lunar Chart by birth place, some by
living place? My Lunar is much better, where I was born, then here, and it is
only about 150 km south from here?

Alois adds: I don't known - most astrologers follow the traditions they
learned from their teachers. There are matters of taste, some people
prefer beer, some wine. Some will love to argue endlessly about the
superiority of their choice, but I consider this mostly pointless.
Anything goes, as Paul Feyerabend used to say-

Alois adds: We don't have our own Moon at Astrodienst, but have to use
the one on the sky. It moves according to the laws of nature. We cannot fix
it for you, sorry.
Please study the documentation for Swiss
Ephemeris, and if you can teach us how to do even better, let us know.
You might also want to write to NASA's JPL laboratory, where the original
numerical integration for the solar system, which we are using, was developed,
and ask them to 'fix' the Moon by two signs, for you personally.

In my direct opinion these people are not your friends, as a picean sun you
are naturally open to the energies of others and your happiness can sometimes
become theirs. This is known as an indirect form of vampirism, they come to
see you, talk about whatever bothers them, and feel much better as you feel
worse. As Jupiter transits your first you may find a lot of people all
wishing to see you, the transit of Saturn in gemini may be trining your mars
moon conjunction, as i do not know the degrees i can but speculate, so this
possible trine will highlight your own internal discipline and refine the
Libran tendency to sit on laurels into an unshakable strength for a while.
The anger is not your it is theirs. Your challenge, as Saturn transits
through your 11th house, is to refine the circle of friends that you have and
to question what they mean to you. To test them and to develop critical
analysis of this part of life. Once you have decided what they mean to you,
you can take action. From an objective point of view i believe you need to
find the strength to ask them to pester someone else. But its not up to an
objective outsider. It is up to you to make the decision.
Primus: Saturn Adverse.

Would someone know the answer to this one. I am a Pisces with Leo rising (5
degrees) moon and mars in Libra so most of my friends are Cancer and Libra.
I get along so well with Libra but may Cancer friends think nothing of it to
drop by unannounced and park themselves at any time of the day or evening and
expect to be fed. What gives. I thought Cancer people liked to cook. None
of them including my mother have ever invited me for food. I am rether
reclusive and do not appreciate these people wanting to visit at the drop of
hat. If someone could explain it astrologically, maybe I'd understand. It
makes me so angry and when I voice my not finding it right to just drop in
like that they just ignore what I am saying and start in with all their
problems, and say - now I feel better. Go figure. This sounds more like an
Ann Landers letter but do I need to get rid of them.

Hallo,
Stefan
