Astrodienst Online Feedback Area Archive February 2003

I hope that I can explain this succintly. It is driving me to distraction! I did a progression chart using accurate birth time. When I then use this prog. chart to program in as a natal to get further astological in-sight, the angles as well as the planets are off by a few to several degrees.Example: dob:2/11/47 10:32p.(c.t.) the prog. time is: 5:20 U.T. The prog. moon is *0degrees sag. but when I compute this info for a natal reading, I keep getting moon *12degrees lst house, not 0degrees 12th house. Thank you so very much for any light you can shed on this confusion. Astrodienst is one of the finest, most professional sites on the web. We are all very grateful to you!

Hi Alois!

Is it possible to include yod-figures in the personal daily horoscope? Recently I had some yods, but I even couldn't find the inconjunctions.

greetings, Isabella

to connie and lesley, i had written a comment earlier, but for some reason the webmaster removed it...they don't have good public relations do they? haha...anyway they should create a separate page for the astro students to chat to each other via message board, and keep this feedback separate if they're so high and mighty about just talking to other astro students.

hi alois,
my question is about the dynamic astomap. am i to understand it that one could do a synastric comparison by using the fererence dates for the other party?
thank you for calling our attention to it. i had never noticed it.
in peace, steven

dearborn, us --- Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 18:01 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: No, it would not work. The dynamic lines are a combination of transit lines (outer planets) and progressed lines (inner planets). The transit lines are drawn onto your natal map - they are not the rising lines of the mundane planets at midnight UT of the reference date. They show the location of the transit planets AS IF they had been present at the moment of your birth. This corresponds to the way astrologers insert transiting or progressed planets in a natal chart.

Besides that, the entry of reference date for dynamical lines allows only full days. This is more than sufficient for outer planet transits and progressions, but useless, if you would want to get another person's lines drawn.

For synastry work with maps, I recommend that you copy one of two maps onto a transparency, and then overlay the two sheets. This can also be done with graphics software on screen, if you set one worldmap image to white=transparent and combine two layers, e.g. in Photoshop.

Is it possible NOT to save the information that we have to enter in order to get a horoscope? I'm a student and uses shared computers, it would be nice if such information were deleted every day as it comes up for the next person using the same computer to see.
Other than that I would just like to say that you have a very good homepage here!

Alois adds: Simply go to the 'my astro' page and logout, or even better: convert your profile into a registered profile, and logout afterwards. Next time you come, login at 'my astro' again.

To make sure your browser does not store local web session history, terminate the browser, or turn off the computer after your session.

Truly the best site on the web hands down! I am sending everyone I know here! I do have a question. I want to check out the cyclocartography aspects for next year. Can I use the travel map to do transits? If so do I put in my birth place or the place I expect to be at that time. This info would make me so so so happy. So far it looks very good, if Ive got it right. Thanks

Alois adds: Thanks, we love to hear that we are 'the best site on the web'. At least for astrology and horoscope sites, we work hard to be exactly that.

Regarding your question: We call it 'Dynamical Astromap'.

You find it under Free horoscopes -> extended chart selection -> group Astrodienst special -> select chart type: Dynamic Astromap World

There are no readings for transit or progressed map lines, but you get the lines drawn in, and you can choose the date. The dynamic lines are dotted, the natal lines are regular lines.

As I told earlier, it is an wonderful Astrological site, full of predictions and totally free!

Now, I would suggest you, if possible, to give us a short prediction report please.

Alois adds: You can create a midpoint ephemeris for any pair of planets when you use the Swiss Ephemeris test page.

The options are a bit tricky to set:
swetest -p6 -DD -b1.12.1900 -n100 -s5 -fPTZ -roundmin
will give you midpoints for Saturn (-p6) and Chiron (-DD) for 100 steps in 5-day steps (-s5) starting 1 December 1900.

To put this into the test page form, please fill it like that:

start date -b: your choice, e.g. 1.12.1900
steps -n: 100
step size -s: 5
planet selection -p: 6
output format -f: PTZ
other options: -DD -roundmin
Then press 'submit'

For slow planets, you can choose larger step size. Be aware that we use European date format DD-MM-YYYY with the day in front, not the month.

This test page can do miraculous things, if you study the numerous options. Feel free to experiment.

A Different Perspective on Chiron Conjunct Chiron

Transiting Chiron conjuncting, natal Chiron
Otherwise known as the Chiron Return, when Chiron has completed a full cycle of the zodiac and returned to its natal position in our charts. This is the culmination of the journey of Healing and the evolution of consciousness up to the age of 50-51.
Its effect will lie somewhere between two extremes, depending on our level of attention and conscious work on the themes of Healing and evolution of consciousness in our lives to date.In all cases, our original Wounds and their attendant issues will surface again.Whether we respond with Love or with fear, guilt, remorse, anger and resentment will depend on our previous work.
If we have not attended to our Wounds and issues during our lives and have not worked towards Healing and higher consciousness, ultimately aspiring to Unconditional Love, we will be thrust back into the thicket of our Woundedness. In this case, our core Wounds and issues will surface again, demanding attention, Healing and resolution. In a sense, we are required to repeat a grade of school. However, the likelihood of truly beginning in-depth work on our subsequent Healing and evolution of consciousness definitely diminishes with time. This is due to our age, to the general level of crystallization of our personality and to associated emotional habits, masks, protective mechanisms and ingrained escape routes. This is not to say that it is impossible. It simply becomes more difficult over time and we become less inclined to bother with it.
In this case, the Chiron Return can be, paradoxically, a time that we hardly notice due to the success of our long-standing patterns of avoidance and evasion.Conversely, it can be a time of monumental regret. The Chiron Return can open the Pandora's Box of our core Wounds and long-standing unresolved issues.Unable to deal with or answer the tortured callings that arise from our fragmented consciousness, we go into crisis or, alternatively, even deeper into retreat.Only in the final moments of death, maybe many years later, will we have an opportunity to feel Healing and sense the Truth of the Love around us and in us.It is only then that the stranglehold of our personality mechanisms finally relaxes with the weakening of our physical vehicle.I venture to suggest that, if you are reading this book and have gotten this far in it, you will not have to fear the aforementioned scenario!
If, however, we have attended, to a greater or lesser degree, to our Wounds and issues during our lives, the best we can look forward to is a deep sense of completion and peace during this transit.Although our core Wounds and issues will arise again during this time, our previous work will help us to appreciate and finally Love these Voids that have given us our core Values and, ultimately, our Divine Design.
It will be a time when we can move into another octave of Healing and evolution of consciousness. The cycle repeats, but on another finer energetic level, i.e. another octave. We are given an opportunity to move to deeper levels of Healing and higher levels of consciousness, forever expanding to the limits of the solar system and, simultaneously, approaching the focused consciousness of the Sun.Increasingly, Love is our guide rather than fear and guilt.
In Truth, the effect of the Chiron Return lies somewhere between these two extremes. Some issues - those that we have fully worked through - we will transcend, moving into a new energetic level of Healing and a new cycle.Others we will have to recapitulate in the next Chiron Cycle, striving for more understanding, higher consciousness pertaining to the issues themselves and deeper Healing of old Wounds.Still others will be deeper Wounds only just uncovered by the previous cycle and representing our next lessons.
The Uranus/natal Uranus opposition (half-return) and the Chiron Return work hand in hand to align us with and connect us to the outer planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. It can be a spiritual coming-of-age if we are ready. If we are not, then the destructive forces of Pluto will accelerate our decay, seeking to spade us in, so to speak, in preparation for our physical death and rebirth in a new cycle, i.e. a new incarnation.

A couple of minutes ago I have ordered your horoscope for couples and I am curious - no I am convinced - that I will FIND (sorry for the fault below, you don 't need to read it :-) the same truth in that horoscope :-)

With kind regards,

Also now I think that one should be able to tolerate an interpreation which one does not share. The astrologers who write our text are no gods, but just humans, and they write some less qualified things occasionally. So what - this is life.

Personally, I have no problems with Saturn, he is my close friend. Even when he is bad-mouthed, it does not bother me (and him) much. There is so much wisdom in Saturn, and he can watch calmly while some get very nervous around him and his issues.

i would appreciate it if someone from Astrodienst would contact me, or at least let me know if there is another way i can submit a problem with paid services.

For the person who asked about Princess Diana's birthday she was born on July 1/61 the time I'm not sure but I know for a fact that she is Sagitarius rising. She died August 31, l997.
How she ever got the popularity she did get is beyond me. She had so many psychological problems and to think that she could be queen seems a little much. She was too needy and deceitful to ever fit in with the monarchy. Maybe with her Sag. ascendent her goals were a little far fetched and she paid dearly for always wanting to receive and not really give. You will see that once you do her chart she wasn't the saint she was professed to be. She was accusing her husband of cheating on her when all the while she was doing the same thing and even going after a married man herself. But she paid the price. The scandals are not finished with her.

In response to Connie, who also has a 4th house Saturn: Actually I say this because I have practiced astrology for some years, and read widely on the subject. As an astrologer I would never make such a pronouncement about someone's future. If we do not impart a certain optimism to people when we address the issues they face, then we risk encouraging them to avoid the very things they need to face. That is not new age delusion, but the reality of human nature. Telling someone they face a difficult old age is not encouraging them to grow and develop, but is making a power pronouncement without offering the tools to deal with it. That is something that is inappropriate in modern astrology.

Our experience of life relies not just on planetary position, but also upon our spiritual nature and our willingness to work with the gifts and tribulations we are given. I see Saturn as a planet of many gifts. Indeed, I look upon my so-called difficult childhood as a great opportunity to develop in ways I might not otherwise have done. In this, I tend to agree with Liz Greene's analysis, that those who have Saturn in the 4th develop an understanding of building a home within oneself that is seldom given to people with other Saturn placements.

Spin is a relative thing, Connie. We can never, no matter how good our intuitive understanding of another from their planetary placements, presume to make pronouncements about the future of others. We can only hope to understand a little more of ourselves.

I want to say this first I have Saturn in my 4th house as you do (mine is worse it is in Cancer and aspects all plantes except Mercury)I think it is fair because this is not some New Age site that is going to tell you want to hear.It is a fact that 4th house karma stinks.Having said that you don't have to take what they said to the bank.If you read any astrology book (even the really bad ones) they may put a postive with the negitive and if thats what you like then go to their web site. I my self prefer the truth know matter how ugly it is because with the help of the heavens above it CAN All BE CHANGED if you have faith in who or whatever you believe in.Not to mention you probally did not take into account the whole chart you seen the negitive and off you went.I read the feedback all the time and you people do not understand that this is one of the only sites where you get the TRUTH instead of statements LIKEIf your not careful you could be lonely at the end of your life. Saturn, the lord of destiny, was found in the fourth house at the time of your birth. Both the first and, especially the last epoch of your life, will be saturated with multiple and tedious duties, frustrations, and problems in general, that seem to originate from circumstances very difficult to alter.

I read this in my sample chart by Robert Pelletier. I really don't think it is appropriate to tell someone that they face a difficult old age or last part of their life. It can make one feel that it is pointless to try, especially if they have faced the challenges of a 12th house stellium.

An "ephemeris" which shows the 20th is simply false. There is no room for opinions on this matter, the movement of the Sun in the tropical zodiac is a fact of nature.

If you can get hold of a book (published years ago but probably available from an astrology bookshop) by Charles Jayne, called The Technique of Rectification, it will give you clues. He and his wife were way ahead of anyone else in their quest for accurate times. However, your friend's history makes it difficult indeed. The planet Uranus (according to the Jaynes) is always spot on in its timing, they use this for events because in recitification you will always have to look at major events (births, deaths, operations etc - generally the big noises in life). My personal advice is to take a good look at your friend, do her physical characteristics look fixed (Leo Aquarius or Scorpio rising perhaps - try all of these) or do the mutable signs seem more likely (longer face, more movement generally, restless). You could then time transits to the ascendant (especially Uranus, or Saturn) which should correspond to dates of events in her life, i.e. the dates her adoptive parents died should show up in the chart.

Hi Marilyn...I understand your frustration about having to click each link for each aspect of the day, but I'm guessing the reason astro.com has done this, is bandwidth (2 reasons) ... Most people worldwide still have dialup, but I hope by 2010 most isps around the world will have cable/isdn etc without extra charge. My local isps have offered 48k, then the next year they offered 49, and just last week they offered 50, so it's a slow improvement.

The other thing being even for high-speed internet users, if all the information for the day was posted, it would cause great pull on astro's web server, due to so much extra text having to load, and could lead to troubles with maintaining the server.

By offering one aspect per page, it keeps everything reasonable for both reasons. Also the astro people believe another reason that if the user is truly curious to learn more about their day aspect/transits, they will click all the transits, and if the client/person doesn't have the time to spend clicking on each link, then what is the point in putting all the information on one page, if they're not going to read all the information? It just leads to more net congestion, and we already have too much of that. They are wise in having the aspects spread out as links, one at a time. Hope you understand. :)

Alois adds: Thanks, Marilyn, for jumping in. Bandwidth and computer power is not the issue. Actually, the AstroClick concept uses much more computer power than a 'report at once' concept would.

We simply cannot afford to give every luxury away for free. Many think that we give far too much already now. We need to make an income from our shop sales, to be able to provide this service.

Kleiner Hinweis:

It rREALLY bothers me that you cannot get all the information for a day on one click - you have to click on each aspect, which is extremely time consuming! Please give a FUL report for each day on one click! Also it is really bad how you have set-up the couples info you have to clikc on many, many, many, mnay sets of lines in order to read the results -- JUST PUT THE ENTIRE thing on one page! PLEASE

How does one rectify a chart? She knows she was born Dec. 1, 1959, in Camden, New Jersey. Her birth mothers' name is unknown as is most everything else.

i was curious for months what the natal angle meant when i saw it last year...i figured it out on my own...the natal angle is the same precise degree difference from the current sun to the current moon as is the precise degree difference from the natal moon to the natal sun. i.e my sun is 165 degrees from the moon. when this happens, as will happen tomorrow due to the aquarius sun/virgo moon, it will be the same aspect or natal angle as my chart says.

i'm wondering what the intrepretation means...i know how the formula comes into play, but does this mean the natal aspects of the chart of any planet come into play for that brief 2 minutes that the sun and moon share the exact difference? can someone explain?

one of your competitors online i won't mention has analyses of north node...and i would encourage to be more competitive than astro.com start using the transits of the north node as it goes around the zodiac (typically in retrograde), as part of the daily analysis of planetary contacts. after all the north node is a planetary aspect of the moon, so it shouldn't be left out. i realize that both your competitor and astro.com just recently added both to their current astro weather listing within the past year, so i'm sure that my suggestion may be a little premature, since the north node is just starting to get more recognition widestream. unfortunately in my local bookstore i haven't seen much information on the north node, but i hope to soon...my north node is at 10 degrees sagittarius, so it would have been helpful sometime last year if there had been analysis of the north node's transits, as it opposed both my sun at 8 sadge, neptune 9 sadge, and itself at 10 sadge. (since north node went 10, 9, 8 etc gemini last year).

i also have mercury 27 scorpio, mars 22 scorpio, so north node will transit these via opposition later this year or in early part of next year as it enters taurus this year.

i'm also curious...my north node, like i said, is 10 sadge, with neptune at 9 sadge, and sun at 8 sadge (that's a huge conjunction). any of you out there that have studied the sun/neptune conjunction, or neptune/north node conjunction please offer the knowledge you have. maybe you will say something i haven't learned in the astrology books i have by the julia derek parker, isobel hickey, etc

Springboard **
You are energetic and self-assured today, and you feel less helpless and at the mercy of others than is perhaps usually the case a good time, therefore, for telling someone about your feelings or desires. If at present you have a firm relationship, you can now talk to your partner about needs of yours which, for some reason, you do not like to talk about. The quality of time is on your side, if, for once, you want to act out of character without falling flat on your face. If you are prepared to risk taking such a step, you will observe that you by no means meet with a lack of understanding or a rejection. This influence can also be of significant help with all therapeutic treatments and physical challenges.

Transit selected for today:
Mars Trine Chiron exact at 15:41
activity period from 16 February 2003 to 19 February 2003.

Just thought I would point out an error: You are energetic and self-assured today, and you feel less helpless and at the mercy of others than is perhaps usually the case a good time, therefore, for telling someone about your feelings or desires.

As you see, there is extra space between case and a good time, probably a few words were omitted, as well as the period or comma after case. Just thought I would pass that on to make Astro more precise and accurate :)

Despite many attempts astrology could not be proven nor disproved so far. At present in germany the world-wide first empirical investigation of astrology which considers substantial astrological and scientific interests equally is being executed on my initiative under the leadership of Edgar Wunder, a well-known critic of astrology.

First results of this study are positive: Allocation tests (horoscope owners should recognize the suitable one of two horoscope interpretations) showed statistically significant deviations from probability!

In Robert Hand book, Planets in Transit, at page 518 is stated that Pluto Trine Pluto happens when someone is in the eigthies and that the opposition is beyond the lifespan.
This is not true since the Trine is happening at 50s and the opposition at 80s.
How such a mistake happened?

Alois adds: I don't know, I speculate on the fact that a birth in an automobile sounds more like Aquarius than Pisces. Experience teaches that birth times are often earlier than actually recorded, because in the confusion of the birth people don't look at watches. they look only later, when things calm down, and then might record the time when they look.

On the other side, I don't have good experiences with the memory of mothers.

In the end: only someone who knows you well enough and talks to you in person can tell, not someone over the internet. My answer was indeed more intended as humor.

Hi! need some help. This is an odd situation, but I was born in the car (in my driveway) and there was so much excitement/worry/confusion at the time of my birth, that no one even noticed what time it was. My mom says it was 7:14 pm and my neighbor says it was more like 7:25.

Oddly enough, that puts me exactly on the cusp of being Pisces ascending or Aquarius ascending.

How can I tell which one I am since no one knows??

Please help.

Is this just for your portrail of Piscies? Weren't there quite a few generals and famous powerful and talented people who seemed to conduct a sane and healthy life? Messy may be but pathetic never. I have been generous but never a door mat.

Dear Astrodienst,

I love the site: I've learned so much about astrology just coming here (enough to show me how much there is to learn!). Still, there is one thing I'd like to see, and that is Black Moon Lilith's natal position in the chart included as an option besides the Part of Fortune, or the four major asteroids, on the advanced charts page. That'd be *really* great! Thanks for your time.

If you choose chart style 'Astrodienst with Asteroids', Lilith is included in the chart drawing.

These options were always there. In addition, I have now added her to the list of selectable objects.

PS: one of my daughters is named Lilith.

I love the free chart service, but would like to see other return charts available (mercury returns, etc.). Also, is there a way to save my preferences on chart setup so that I don't have to enter it every time?

Alois adds: Please read further down at 4-feb-2003.

For return charts, you can always check the ephemeris first, and then play a little with the time to get it precise. It takes far less clicks fpr you to do that, than it would take for a programmer to program it.

Otherwise, there are great astrology programs like Kepler or Solar Fire out there which you can buy and which probably take care of any special technical needs.

Hello,
I purchased your software advertised World of Wisdom. I am extremely dissappointed. I assumed it would be at least a good quality program, I realize Astrodienst, has a disclaimer, that it is not put out by you. HOWEVER, as you have a reputation for high standards, high accuracy, which everyone who comes to your site now EXPECTS. This software program, World of Wisdom falls way below your standard. The Atlas is minimal, and the readings very sparse. I expected more from anything I purchased from your website. That you sell this software, was an indication that you approved of it, and backed its accuracy and quality. I highly regret purchasing this, and wish I could return it! Thank you, Regina, USA

Alois adds: I do not agree with your judgement of Adrian Duncan's WOW program. I think it offers excellent features, considering its price. A license for the full ACS atlas would alone cost $200 per copy, so you cannot seriously expect it to be contained in a $59 item.

The page where WOW is presented on our website says:

Important Note:
This software program is authored by the British astrologer Adrian Ross Duncan. The software and its content does not originate from Astrodienst, and does not contain text by Astrodienst authors. The horoscope readings created by this software are completely different from the reports you find on the Astrodienst website.

I don't understand how you can confuse a trade item described that way with the professional service software which we use for our computer services and which is NOT for sale.

Even in a gourmet restaurant you can order a bottle of root beer, but you should not make the chef responsible for its taste.

astrodienst is the ultimate! these burning eyes are truly grateful for the addition of code that enables view/text/size/larger response on reading feedback, but can this relief be extended to all of astrodienst text pages? it would be a real 'site' for sore eyes...can one detect the hand of chiron in mid-life presbyopia ?...as always, astrodienst is fabulous!

Hello Alois - first I want to thank you and the entire Astrodienst team for contributing so much to the study astrology for so many people, myself included. Finding your site several years ago was one of the biggest steps in my continuing astrological education. You have done such a huge service for humankind and our creative / spiritual evolution and it continues to grow day by day. Also - I noticed a tiny update you forgot your normally impeccable site and wanted to let you know - the mouse hover over the VIP report for Louis Armstrong still says 'VIP - Al Gore'. Thanks again for your huge-hearted contribution to us all. Lots of love and light to all of you!

Hello, Alois:
I am working on a horoscope for a friend who was born in Indija (sometimes spelled Indjija), Yugoslavia at approximately 45N15 20E05. Your atlas does not list Indija. How can I enter the correct latitude and longitude? Indija is located on the secondary road between Belgrade (Beograd) and Novi Sad. Each of those cities are 10' to 25'away from Indija. Hatch

First, I would try spellings. Just enter 'in,yu' to see all towns we have in 'YU' starting with 'IN'. It actually solves your 'problem'.

i just wanted to point out a grammatical error:

Taking a stand
Valid during several weeks: Very likely you will have to convince someone of something today. This will probably not be an argument, but rather a situation in which you have to present your case with vigor and energy. But if someone tries to talk you into something, you will defend your own position vehemently and successfully. This influence is not as argumentative as it sounds. People will not see you as spoiling for a fight, nor will they be particularly likely to pick a fight. Instead they will respect your for taking a stand for your own beliefs. Your inner confidence in your ideas and beliefs will help you initiate and take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. Do not be reluctant to use them. Under this influence you should be successful.

Transit selected for today (by user):
Mercury Sextile Mars exact at 01:12
activity period from 25 December 2002 to 8 February 2003.

the line of error is:
Instead they will respect your for taking a stand for your own beliefs.

it should be Instead they will respect you (not your) for taking a stand for your own beliefs. Just thought I would try to make Astro more precise/accurate :)

Your article chart on Louis Armstrong is absolutely beautiful! However, there is 'dispute' as to what his actual birthdate is! He believed he was born on the 4th of July, 1900. Only after he died, did the 'baptismal' certificate surface. Louis - in his prolific writting often refers to his birthdate and other dates in very accurate terms. He was a VERY literate parson/author more so than a 'baptist clerk' who might have felt that was was born with his baptism! The FBI investigated Armstrong and concluded that his birthdate was 7-4-00.

Could your chart (which accurrately reflects a personality like Armstrong - be just coincidental? Could a chart for his 'actual/alternate' birthdate 'option', perhaps reflect a similar personality?

Thank you.

Alois adds: Thanks for the comment. As we always do, we have quoted our source www.astrodatabank.com in the sample chart (left column, bottom). In matters of birth data research, I tend to trust Lois Rodden more than the FBI. She gives Armstrong's birth data the rating 'A', which is excellent. Lois Rodden says about her data source: (see here, just below the chart drawing)

PBS Documentary, "Satchmo" 7/1993, quotes records, date from baptismal certificate and time from accounts that, during his birth, a brawl was raging outside his mom's house in which a man was stabbed to death. The event was traced to this date, 10:00 PM.

For many years, Armstrong's birth date was given as July 4, 1900, with a time quoted from his mother as "before midnight," but the estimable writer Gary Giddins discovered the birth certificate that proves Armstrong was born Aug. 4, 1901.

Author and educator Krin Gabbard writes, "He seems to have been unaware that he was born in August 4, 1901 rather than July 4, 1900. We only know the facts now because jazz researcher Tad Jones found Armstrong's actual birth certificate at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Lopez Street in New Orleans several years after Armstrong's death. Armstrong's mother, Mary Albert (better known as Mayann), was unmarried and no more than sixteen years old when her only son was born, so she may have had good reason not to recall the exact circumstances of his birth."

Just wanted to comment - I find your attention to detail, even in the 'short reports' is excellent. I just read over some of the other feedback, and was surprised to read that a lot of people consider their readings negative. At one time, I did my own chart (including all the planets in their respective signs, houses, etc) and was glad to find that I calculated it correctly. (Nov 13 in Glasgow). One of the things I like about calculating your entire chart, or having it calculated, is that it shows both negatives and positives. Recently, thankfully the positives outweigh the negatives. Aren't the negatives shown so that we can recognise them, and endeavour to make the necessary changes? Anyway, thanks again - I find your site to me the most thorough and comprehensive of all of the astrological sites. It's also the most accurate I have ever seen. Thanks again, Shirley

Hallo,

Haus?

Alois adds: The simplest way to perform that is by saving a bookmark/favorite in your browser once you look at a particular chart with the settings you prefer. Whenever you use that bookmark, you will see the same person's chart again, but have the 'person pulldown' at the top to select a different person, with the same chart option settings.

Isn't that exactly what you want? It allows to to save as many different setup styles as you like. You simply name your bookmarks accordingly.

Thank you for your response to my somewhat strange question, and I see what you mean. Thinking about this and the space program also brought up another question about this. Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback, Pamela. You will ALWAYS keep your birth chart.

Progressions are a special technique used by SOME astrologers (besides the more commonly used transits) to find out what themes come into your life in the course of the years, indicated by the movement of the progressed planets into different signs and houses of the birth chart. But this does not change you fundamental chart. You can see it as if you get new furniture for some rooms of your house. New furniture does not change the general structure, location, value etc of your home, but gives a different atmosphere to it.

Quick question: the time zone set for my info reflects my birth place. I now live in a different time zone, does it make a difference?

Dear Alois,
This is a tricky question and I thought you would be able to answer it. In calculating an event chart for the Columbia disaster, I used the Texas town of Nacogdoches, at 9.00 am Saturdat. However, the event happened on entry into the atmosphere, which would make elevation a factor, or would the event be a comet in its own right? How can you take elevation into consideration? Or not?

Susan
, Australia --- Monday, February 3, 2003 at 04:11 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: Usually all charts are don GEOCENTRIC, which means as seen from the center of the earth, not TOPOCENTRC, which would mean as seen from a point on the surface.

If you want to do topocentric charts, you need to use the 'Swiss Ephemeris test page'. There you will find also options for entering altitude above ground. The differences are minimal.

Don't expect straightforward answers from astrology for an accident like that. If you would know which person(s) is(are) finally responsible for the accident - if any - and if you had their birth charts, you would be on a more interesting track to analyze the fatal accident with astrology. The event chart itself does not contain the deeper answers, in my as usual not so humble opinion.

I would very musch appreciate knowing the exact birth time and place of Karl Rove, adviser to President Bush.

Thank you for your concern, Alois, but that's okay, don't change your wording of the Chiron square Saturn transit because of what I said. It rang only too true, that's all, and reading it I felt like I was having salt rubbed into my wounds.

It reminds me of something I read ages ago in one of Stephen Arroyo's books, where he said something like: a lot of people resist believing in astrology because they don't like to think that they're not in control of their own lives, until one day the great cosmic hands reach down from the sky and toss them up into the air, and they discover they're NOT in control! Well, I already knew I wasn't in control, and I didn't need to have my nose rubbed in it. So I'm fed up, but that's my problem.

I ran a portrait on a friend who wonders if your ncalculations took into account the litle stumble in daylight savings time between the years 1970-1974. SHe was born in 1971 * 8:30 AM in Salburg, England. Her problem is that she gets no consistent placement of her Ascendant, and maybe others. Could you please just verify that your computer took into account this 4 year snaffu that is causing her problem, and that the reading I ran (with Capricorn Rising) is right or not!
Thanks a heap!

Alois adds: Of course we take all modifications of timezone and daylight saving time automatically into account. All you ever need to enter is 'wrist watch time'.

In the years 1968 - 1971, Britain abolished daylight saving time and went permanently on Central European time (GMT+1he). On 31 Oct 1971, the traditional time regime was resumed.

The data entry page SHOWS the timezone and timetype which is used for a given date and location, once you entered time, date and place. This is why there is a second press of the 'continue' button, so that you can see the data before they are stored.

Alois adds: The simple answer: Astrology is pragmatic, it uses what is available. Birth time is an observable and well documented quantity - the government records it in its birth registry offices. By nature, conception happens in secrecy - making love in the dark under the bed covers, and actual fertilization of the egg sometime up to 48 hours later inside the woman's body.
