Well, your daily horoscope reading certainly hit the nail on the head this
time. A little too hard, I have to say. Chiron square Saturn now!?! Just
when I was congratulating myself that I was over Mars square Neptune and
Neptune conjunct Mercury?! If I get one more f#***# Chiron transit, I will
hang myself, I swear!
(Sorry about this outburst, Alois, but I have nowhere else to vent. Feel
free to delete it.)

FAQ -> Free Horoscopes -> Personal Daily Horoscope -> Why do you give different transit durations / orbs in the Daily Horoscope and the Forecast?
Englisches Original:
Why do you give different transit durations / orbs in the Daily Horoscope and the Forecast? We use a different computing style in "Transits of the Year" and "Horoscope Calendar" (which constitutes the basis for the Personal Daily Horoscope) on one hand, and "Astrotext Forecast" on the other. "Astrotext Forecast" considers transits only when the moving planet is within a 1-degree orb. When it goes out of orb, the transit ends, and it re-appears when the planet goes retrograde and comes into orb again. The first two reports make a more detailed analysis of the motion pattern, and consider transits to be active from the first entry into orb up to the last exit. In the graphics of the printed versions, the times in orb are shown as a solid line and the times in between as dotted lines. A transit theme is really over only after the last exit.
Both approaches can be considered valid. Transits cannot be nailed down so precisely, and the choice of orb would be a subject for endless discussion. What is really reliable is the date when a transit is exact. The building up period before and the calming down period after can vary.
Have fun with google.
The wodka is strong but the meat is rotten...
And I forgot to thank the translators for the dutch text. So people, if you
read this: dank jullie wel!

Thanks for putting the old feedback-files into pieces. It is a great help, as
I do not have another posibility to search into sites. Yes, my browser is

I hope I'm not the only one who looks into old feedback-files...

Unter Wichtige langfristige Themen ist ein Aspekt Neptun Konjunktion Saturn

Hi folks! I really appreciate your site and that you kindly offer free, in
addition to paid services. Very cool.
Recently, I tried to find your Web site using Google (somehow, my Astrology
favorites folder had disappeared).
Results: The Astrodienst site wasn't listed on the first several pages I
checked (I may have been too tired missed it but I think not.)
Since you all have such a great site, pls ensure popular search engines list
Astrodienst at the the top of their search results. To do so is actually a
great public service!
Cheers!

Alois adds: Our ASTRO website is very easy to remember without a search
engine. Just type astro into your browser location window. Most browsers
will default to www.astro.com if you just type 'astro' as the URL.
We would like to be on top of search engine lists, and we are probably
the largest non-junk astrology website on this planet - this month we have had more
than 2 million visitors. But you can't image what a race is going
on about getting on top of search engine listings.
Until recently we have not spent any energy on this subject. We have
gained our leading position by word of mouth recommendations throughout the world, and by our long years of dedicated free and quality service.
There
are many poor sunsign astrology and junk astrology websites which have nothing
better to do than trying to get high up in search engine listings. Nobody would
ever recommend them, so the search engines are their only chance, and they
spend a lot of money on getting good listings. We don't.
But don't worry, we will make it into the leading rankings on the important
search engines, too. Check it out two months from now. I predict we will
be in the first 8 for keywords 'horoscope' and 'astrology' (currently
rank 19 in google on the latter keyword).
Dear Robert Hand
I was born in Australia and live in Switzerland - the time difference means I
have to calculate where I am time-wise with my astrological guidance. Your
software allows astrologers to save time. Is there software or a system which
will allow me as an Australian living in Switzerland to save time calculating
i.e. could ASTRODIENST supply this service?
BTW Astrodienst is fantastic!

Chiron is an asteroid discovered in 1977 which orbits eliptically between
Saturn Uranus. There is an article on this site lots of stuff on the
internet about it too.
I find it to have major significance in astrology - being known as the
'wounded healer'. It corresponds to a feeling of deep vulnerability *a void*
within us which can be understood by studying house, sign aspects within the
natal chart.

I like your site and often check the personal daily horoscope. However, I
must complain about the quality of the Italian translation. I know there are
not so many Italian-speaking readers, but I think that every service should
be as good. By the way, I have already noticed that the German and the
English versions don't match. The reliability of your forecast could be
injured. Which one is the original version? I hope you can check the
Astrodienst's translation services and provide a better translation into
Italian in the near future. Thank you.
Francesco [ flyerlu.xyz*xyz.hotmail.com --- .xyz*xyz. -> * ]
Verona, Italy --- Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at 20:36 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: The basis for the daily horoscope is Robert Hand's book 'Planets
in Transit', which exists also in German, Dutch and Italian book editions. Our
Italian online version is derived from this book in its Italian edition, I Transiti,
by Armenia. I am aware that the quality of this edition is not beyond
doubts, and we hired editors to improve that original work.
Astrodienst holds the worldwide exclusive rights to use Robert Hand's text for
computer horoscopes. Ten years ago, we created the Personal Horoscope
Calendar, a printed calendar with one column of transit readings for each
day. To fit into this printed text column, the original text was shortened
by astrological editors in each language, to fit the text into the available
space. Different languages have different space requirement, German for
example runs about 15% longer than English for the same text - this means more
sentences need to be cut in the German version than in the English. Different
editors also made different decisions how to shorten the text. The
text from this printed edition is now used online for the daily horoscope.
As you see, the various language editions have come into existence in
complicated ways. This explains the differences in wording. There are many ways
to illuminate a particular transit - it is not that one way of describing it is
fundamentally more valid than another. This is not how astrology works.
If you can
understand several languages, as you apparently do, you can make your choice.
I personally prefer to read the English originals, for all our horoscopes,
because any text suffers by translation. Only AstroClick Travel has an
originally German version, and the English edition is a translation.
By the way, I look forward to your donation of some 25'000 Euro for a better
new translation of all the text material of the daily horoscope into Italian.
Then we can hire a good translator for a fresh edition - if you double the
amount, we can even hire a top class translator.
Helping is more productive than complaining - but complaining may be the
national sport in Italy, even before calcio.

In regard to your question: Liz Greene is not one of 'other more traditional
approaches'. She has developed her personal style of doing astrology and
reading charts over a period of more than 35 years, and HER experiences
have taught her to use orbs up to 10 degrees.
Astrology is an art, and there is little point in asking a painter 'why do
you use this colour choice and painting style, while other, more traditional
approaches... ?
The art would obviously turn out different, if the artist made different
technical choices. But why should he/she do that and give up his/her own
successful style which produces wonderful works of art?
Love your site, but why to paraphrase the Poet? I don't remember world is the

I have a question about astro-click travel. I'm planning to travel to India
next year. Exactly on the place where I want to go, I see two black lines:
The Pluto IC line, and the Chiron MC line and also a circle: chiron in
zenith. Now I read that going to these places requires careful consideration.
I have the feeling that I should go to this place to discover something, but
I don't want to put myself in danger. Also the prospect of something terrible
to happen, doesn't make me feel very optimistic. Can you give me an
advise?
Thank you.

Alois adds: The two lines are quite a bit apart of each other, E. Nowhere does
the reading say that 'something terrible will happen'. The Chiron reading is
actually quite positive.
It is important
that you read the text carefully, and take everything with a grain of salt.
For a temporary residence, the experience of the Pluto line can be quite
important for your development - no change is without risks, however. You
cannot use astrology to work around all risks in life, I think.

Hi Alois,
I am curious-- last year's solar return chart was available in 2002 but not
2003 (even though my bday is in June)-- likewise, does astro.com have the
ability to do solar returns ++years in advance?
2nd question-- I'd like to do some more astrocartography with the site. I
love the travel mapping that shows pictures of the world and 'power lines',
'crossings', however if I don't know where sun valley, Iowa is, for example,
on the map then I would have to do a relocation chart. I am unclear as to
how to interpret the relocation chart. Would a location being on a 'pluto
line' for example be a conjunction with the MC, IC or such? How would I gage
my 'power line' or 'crossings' with a relocation chart? Maybe the
'crossings' refer to an exact aspect?
Best,

Alois adds: The 'extended chart selection' page contains a field for start
date. Use the year field there to choose your solar return year - the day
and month have no effect for Solar returns.
If you don't know where Sun valley Iowa is on a map, why don't you
first find out with an atlas, and click on the appoximate location in
AstroClick Travel. The technique is not sensitive to location differences

To gauge relocation charts with Astrocartography maps is tricky, because
the maps consider planetary latitude, while the charts don't. This is why the
lines for planets with considerable latitude run off from where you might expect
them.

Hi Liz,
Thank you very much for your free site and your amazing books I recently
started buying because of this site. I love your analytical, problem-solving
approach to harness our inner gifts. I would really like you to write more
about the special talents of gay people. As we both know, gay people are
extraordinarily talented, as history has shown us with so many prolific
geniuses and artists. However, most astrologists say homosexuality is from a
problematic chart and not from a gifted chart as it usually is when harnessed
productively. Of Course, there are problematic gays, however compulsory, and
problematic heterosexuality is strongly the norm, yet, know one talks about
the extraordinary gay gifts usually found in their charts such as Sun/Jupiter
or Sun/Uranus conjunctions, Merc/Jup, Mer/Uranus/, Venus/Jup, Venus/Uranus,
etc... I really look forward to reading about the aspects that lead to the
extraordinary and gifted life journeys of gay people. The two really are
inner twined. Thank you again and good luck. I can't wait.....

The website has given so much details for the transit. It is the best
information I have get so far from internet however, the interpretation seems
rather negative suggested during the transit. From my point of view, this
negative dominate interpretation can lower the spirit of the readers. When
the stars interacts with natal chart esp MC and Asc, house location plays
rather important role as well. Such as the prediction of mine from the
website when Neptune squres MC= appreaently defeated! If house is taken into
account this transit shall focus more on the house location rather the
transit itself.
Thank you for your effort in giving such a wonderful information on the
website. I hope my feedback will give you a constructive consequence. Please
accept my apology in advance for any upsetting feeling.

Alois adds: Thank you for the feedback.
There is a limit to what a human author can possible produce.
Robert Hand wrote already more than 600 pages, just to cover the aspects of the
planetary pairs in transit. To extend that material by taking into account
the natal hours position and/or the transiting planet's house position, could
have easily multiplied the text amount by a factor of 5 - 10, i.e. gone
to 3000 - 6000 pages. No astrological author can possible cover that amount
of material without running dry and stale, and no publisher could afford
to translate such a volume of text into another language - or find buyers
for a boring 6000 page 'cookbook'.
These are some of the limitations of our trade, and you need to be aware of them, instead of just demanding more and more detail. I think the synthesis
must often happen in the heads of the readers - learn something about houses,
and combine that knowledge withe the transit readings you are finding here.
Please run a natal chart separately, if you are not already aware in which
houses the transits happen. There is plenty to choose from in our
'extended chart selection'.
Regarding the Neptune Square MC: This is a once-a-lifetime transit, which
many people never have. Indeed its description by Robert Hand is not a prediction of great fun. It would however have been a good idea to pay attention to the
3rd paragraph of the text, which looks more at the positive side:
But all of the above concerns the worst side of this influence, which
does have something positive to teach you. Even as you suffer apparent
defeats, you may discover that what you are losing is not really
anything significant. You may learn that the needs of your ego are not
your real needs at all. Under this influence some persons find a
capacity for selfless action and spiritual self-denial that makes it
impossible for them ever to lose in a way that hurts them. In that case
you will learn that there is really nothing to lose. This influence can
be the gateway to a very highly evolved spiritual understanding, ...
Your site is fantastic! Thank you so much for all your hard work - it is

Alois adds: The systems of astrology as practised in India and in the west
are quite different. This accounts probably for the difference you observe.
www.astro.com is a website for western psychological astrology,
not for hindu astrology. Hindu astrology uses a fixed star based zodiac which
was taken over from the Greeks in the Hellenistic times, when Hindu astrology
had its main formative period.
Since then, the spring equinoctial point has
moved by nearly a sign, and western astrology, which uses the tropical
coordinate system of modern astronomy, has shifted its sun-signs accordingly.
Hindu astrology however sticks to a zodiac of 2000 years back in time. It
has developed different traditions of knowledge, also in many other respects.
Under Free Horoscopes -> extended chart selection, there are options
for specialists which allow you to compute a chart also with the Hindu-style
todiac.

I get the term 29-year low on my Forecast here in astro.com. I would like to
show you the first sentence at it causes me a great deal of worry. I'm
wondering whether it means that i'll be unlucky for the coming 29 years
iSaturn opposition Sun: A twenty-nine-year low : This may be a very
discouraging time. Your vital energies are at a twenty-nine-year low, and you
may feel quite incapable of dealing with the adversities that often accompany
this influence./i
Please help. Thanks a lot in advance. :)
greg [ g_jusayan.xyz*xyz.yahoo.com --- .xyz*xyz. -> * ]
manila, philippines --- Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 18:04 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: You misunderstand. The expression 'twentynine year low' means that this
is a short 'low' period in a 29 year cycle. The next such short period will come
in 29 years.
The full text for Saturn Opposition Sun reads:
This may be a very discouraging time. Your vital energies are at a
twenty-nine-year low, and you may feel quite incapable of dealing with
the adversities that often accompany this influence.
These adversities may come from a number of sources. First of all,
other people, particularly employers and other persons in authority, may
oppose your plans in several areas. This is not usually a good time for
successfully attaining your goals.
You may feel physically tired, as if the burdens of your life are too
much for you. Quite commonly during this time people feel old, even if
they are in fact young, and there is a profound sense of world-
weariness. Avoid excessive strains on your health, because that can
lead to a major health breakdown, particularly if you are older. Be
careful of your health and conserve your energies.
Your ambitions may also be thwarted by circumstances or by other people.
Even though you and your associates have the best intentions for your
future, something seems to block you.
It is possible that you may be caught in some kind of relationship, for
example, a bad marriage or love affair, that limits your
self-expression. Quite frequently this influence brings such relationships
to an end.
This period is best dealt with by understanding that it is part of a
natural cycle in your life. Nothing is gained by fighting it; instead
you must learn to flow with it. This influence represents a period of
endings, which will be followed by new beginnings. The problem is to
avoid being discouraged and frustrated by the endings. Soon you will
have the opportunity to begin new projects that will build up to new
peaks of achievement in about fourteen years.
Hi Alois and ian sadler,
I got into this with some zeal yesterday, and wrote out this article on the
Implications of Varuna:
http://astroworld.mydd.com/archives/000384.html
It was quite interesting to compare the understanding with the TNO's and the
Asteroids, as the latter went first to Planetary status, and then, over a ~50
year period, into asteroid status.
I agree that more study needs to be done to understand Varuna. It's only been
two years, and is going to take a lot of work.
However, this site is invaluable as a means of education, and just as the 4
top asteroids are listed in the 'specials' section, the top TNO's being
included might add a lot more study and awareness.
(10000) Pluto: 18'50 Sagittarius
(20000) Varuna: 12'04 Cancer
(28978) Ixion: 8'18 Sagittarius
(50000) Quaoar: 11'57 Sagittarius
These are the four largest, as far as I can tell from a days research. Pluto
is larger by a factor of about 2 than any other known trans-Neptunian object
(2200 km diameter for Pluto vs. ~1000 km diameter for (20000) Varuna, Ixion,
2002 AW197 and Quaoar).
I assume the Ixion listed in the minor planets is the same Ixion? And, does
anyone know what 2002 AW197 has been named?
As a visual means to see the new paradigm check out:
http://www.alcyone.de/POrbits/english/varuna.html
This also has the discovery date of Varuna, which Ive been looking for, as

Software is for us not some 'black box' which needs to be mistrusted, but something
we have designed and developed ourselves, and which we understand into the last

of those who write them, not of Astrodienst. But I think the issue should be communication, not quebecois language politics.
If ever possible, contributions in the feedback area should be in languages
shared by the largest possible audience. For the www.astro.com website, the

one of these two languages. My replies will always be limited to these.
to Jerome Armstrong of Portland re: Varuna etc.:
I have to agree with Alois that the most reasonable view on the KBO's is to
wait for a more complete map, however, for my own studies, I will be
laboriously typing in both 50000 for Quaoar and 20000 for Varuna as these
bodies appear highly significant. It would be nice to have a menu of the top
10 of the largest KBOs and centaurs. I'm surprised by Alois' comment that
astrologers seem unenthusiastic to study these new bodies. Varuna seems to
have something to do with relating on a collective level, which might give it
domain over Libra. re: Quaoar: I've noticed this body smack dab on the MC of
someone who created a school from scratch, which leads me to wonder if this
body might be connected with Virgo. I think these bodies deserve more focus
than to be lumped together with the myriad of other solar system dust. Your
website, Alois,
is #1 in the world, so why not make it complete in all respects?
ian sadler
Vancouver, Canada --- Friday, January 17, 2003 at 23:03 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
HI, I noticed that Varuna has been moved to the minor planets section, out of
the additional objects section. I am finding it difficult to understand this
new body, of which very little has been written, do you know of any
resources?
I think that the astrology community needs to come to recognize that Pluto,
Varuna, and the others grouped with them are all trans-Neptunian bodies, and
our presentation of Pluto as a planet in the sense of the others is not
current with either the scientific understanding, or the awareness
manifesting in mundane relations.
a href=http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/faculty/jewitt/kb/pluto.htmlSo, bluntly put,
one has two choices. One can either regard Pluto as the smallest, most
peculiar planet moving on the most eccentric and most inclined orbit of any
of the planets or one can accept that Pluto is the largest known, but
otherwise completely typical, Kuiper Belt Object.... Some people see this as
a demotion of Pluto from Planet-hood. I think that it can reasonably be
portrayed as a promotion. Our perception of Pluto has been transformed from a
singularly freakish and unexplained anomaly of the outer solar system to the
leader of a rich and interesting family of trans-Neptunian bodies whose study
will tell us a great deal about the origin of the solar system./a
My goodness, look at Varuna, and it's connections with George Bush, 9/11, and
the Republican chart, in event, transit, and progression. Varuna is a body
that is on the same 'energetic' playing field as Pluto. Look at Varuna with
Kennedy's assasination, this is a paradigm tipping point planetary body.
This is going to take some work: awakening this supra-unconciousness of the
trans-Neptuinians as their own group, instead of just co-opting Pluto from
the bunch and calling it a day but hey, that's where the enlightenment
resides.

Alois adds: I have actually explained yesterday why we 'downgraded' Varuna. We had
made it easier accessible shortly after it discovery, but not much interest
in it arose in the astrological community. I think astrologers are right in
holding back until a more complete picture of the objects in the Kuiper belt
has developed.
Dear Alois, I've been thinking about your answer about the question about the
asteroid Apollo last wednesday. There is something about asteroids in general
I do not understand. That is: why do astrologers consider some asteroids as
important and other asteroids not? Every time when somebody asks something
about an asteroid your answer is that asteroids are not important. At the
same time I am swamped to dead with things about cheiron. I thought he was
also just an asteroid. Is it the place where an asteroid moves, which makes
it interesting? Are the outer planets and outer stones more important then
stones moving between mars and jupiter or anywhere else? Or are there simply
too much moving stones in the universe and do astrologers just take a couple
out of them? I think the point is very simple: you see what you want to see.
And at this moment astrologers want to see centaurs. If you think centaurs
are important, you definitely will see them working. And I happen to be
interested in other stones, so I am going to see other stones working.
Important or not important.

Where should I look for information on this demoted god, Varuna? Is there

to us when it was discovered. Many astrologers were curious where it would land
in their charts. In the meantime, more such objects have been found, and most
astrologers sit back and wait what else is to come up in the outer reaches
of the solar system. Varuna seems less interesting today.
I have taken Varuna now out of the chart selection page. Of course, it can still be

definition of stellium and it says there must be FOUR or more planets in one
house. Then I've read the definition of satellitium (synonim) and it talks
about FIVE or more planets. The question is: how many planets are necessary
to have a stellium? The information in your dictionary seems a bit
confusing... Thank you very much for your help!

Alois adds: I agree with you. Following the practice of Liz Greene, I consider as a stellium the presence of three planets in a house (or in a sign).
Sometimes a narrower definition is applied: The planets must all be in conjunction, i.e. three or more planets form a chain, where the maximum distance between neighbours is within the orb for
the conjunction (we use commonly 10° orbs).
Please be aware that the Astro Dictionary we offer via the link at your left is not our own creation,

definitions by astrologers vary, and several authors have contributed to the

Some will notice other small changes, e.g. the URL of the key pages (homepage, horoscope selection, atlas page,
astrology information area have changed). The new URL concept makes it easier to remember important areas on
our website. It is easier to tell others about it, if the link is as simple as www.astro.com/horoscopes (or oroscopi in Italian, horoscopos in Spanish, horoskope in German, horoscopen in Dutch etc).
We also expect to get a better rating by Google due to the redesign. It is a scandal that www.astro.com is certainly among the three most visited astrology and horoscope websites on this planet, but that it appears on Google and other search engines only far down in the list. We are about to change that, and you will see more of
our effort soon.
The positive thing is that those changes which helps the search engines to classify our website better also helps
our users to find the information easier. We have simply neglected these issues for a long time and concentrated
only on the improvement of our services, not on the increase of our visibility. Usually, we are discovered
by accident, or because a friend tells you, not because a search engine listed us. In the future, we hope to get
both.
I am a newcomer exploring. I am fascinated and will be ordering a more
detailed reading very soon. In the meantime, can someone tell me what a true

Alois adds: I am afraid there is little chance for that. But transatlantic travel
to London is cheap, to attend the CPA seminars there.

Great site no doubt. Interestingly however the forecasts are cut and paste
information repeating after few months. Information are vague, duplicated and
ambiguous. For the same period in one corner it says excellent period and
some other corner it says for the same period as very bad. More fun is the
Sun sign comes ss Scoprpio where as from another astrologer using the
software (these software made life so simple) tells my Sun sign is Libra.
Further why not we see some of the future predictions and with a date when
the prediction is published. Now any one can say that he or she calculated
Bill Clinton will not stand for reelection. But I coul dnot see to predict if
Iraq war will be there or when the next nuclear bomb will be exploded or if
President Bush will seek for reelection or how come International Share
Market will rise or fall so that our Super investments turn from red to
black. ANy way It is the astrlogers and not the astrology should be blamed
for contradictory forecasting.
Any way enjoy your visit to this site and send feedback to get it improved.

Fähigkeiten an. Alles Gute! Margus.
