Yea, I want to know....
What is the purpose of astrology? Why 'is' astrology? Why is it there for,
and...where is it suppose to take every individual in the end?
They sound like karmic lessons---because it's not fair that some people
have it better than others in life.
Oh and, do I have an astrological soul mate?

I'm not sure what is happening to the my astro section.I have been using it
for two years and really appreciate the fact that I can run charts on line
without going to a company.I am just learning astrology and it has really
been a gift to me.Suddenly today I cannot access the my astro section.The web
site will not accept my email address .This may be because I have two and am
never sure which one is the correct one .I tried both but the site would
accept neither.What's going on ? I'd hate to loose this service .Maybe you
could let me know which of my email addresses you have in association with

I've checked the personal daily forcast today(11/30/02 (the site was down
yesterday, saying to check the next day..today) and now the longterm forcasts
listed are ones that cease to be applicable as of today or yesterday, rather
than ones that continue on into the future

Alois adds: All of our reports require the complete birth information
(date, precise time and location) and very much depend on it. In the average, the
Ascendant changes every two hours, and planets move from one house to the next
within two hours. These house placements of the planets play an important role in the
reading of a chart.
I've found this website amazingly accurate. I do have a question though -
how is it that meanings and interpretations that have come from convention
(which are surely historical and changing) have this kind of tie to
astronomical configurations? I have no doubt as to the explanatory power of
astrology in terms of psychological tendencies, but I'm unclear as to how the
associated meanings have such a correlation with cosmic motion. Please
direct me to some explanation, if no one is willing to resond in this forum

Dear Alois,
I made a question about Sidereal astrology November 7th, on which I would
like some insight because I truly don't know much about astrology. The issue
is a person was explaining me that he read that the actual zodiac is not
right and that instead of me being a capricorn I would be a sagittarius... I
honestly didn't like the idea of giving up my capricorn sign... So, I would
like to ask if sidereal and tropical (if that's the name) exclude each other
or if they can be used to analyze different issues.

Personally, I consider 'sideral astrology' a concept based on false assumptions.
Around late summer of 2001 I had you do a full Career and Vocation for
myself. Just wanted to mention that this was a most insiteful profile. It has
been fundimental in getting me focused on a path trully alligned with my
native talents and abilities as well as keeping my priorities in order. It
was trully a revelation to see the depest aspects of myself, my drives and
purpose, often sensed, finally validated in a very concrete fashion. That
constantly nagging little voice, (a life long haunting presence), that I'm

Alois adds: The feedback area is a different matter. It is a public webpage, which is readably to anyone in the world. There are villains out there who scan websites and
look for email addresses published on them. They collect these email addresses

We have no power to prevent that. When you use 'Write a feedback entry',

square Neptune, called
Nightmares is off the mark! How did you arrive at such negative reportage?
The Aspect itself?How can it be so off? Who does these reports? I used to
think your group was very accurate, but lately I am disappointed in the
negative turn some of these reports have taken... Daily personal horoscope
reports are usually informative/insightful. Thank-you for all of the

inappropriate and overtly sexual in nature. it is clearly a woman on her
back with her legs spread wide open with a dark cavernous gap in the middle
and she is looking toward the right. i am disgusted! you should be ashamed

i enjoy your site- it is very accurate and insightful, but your pictures are

Hello again everybody. Its been about a year and a half since I've posted or
read anything in the feedback site its good to see that it is still alive and
kicking.
I'm writing regarding a transit that is currently effecting my Natal
Horoscope (Saturn opposition Neptune). This is what Robert Hand at Astrodienst says about
the transit:
Saturn opposition Neptune: Disorientation
5 December 2002 until 30 December 2002: This is a time of extreme inner
conflict, which can severely undermine your effectiveness with others. You
will become extremely self- critical and uncertain about the ideals by which
you structure your life, as well as about the structure itself.
You make very great demands upon yourself, and you feel you must live up to
them. But they are very far removed from what you should realistically
expect. You will almost certainly fail to live up to these ideals, so you
will be acutely disappointed in yourself. Your self-condemnation is
unjustified but very convincing at this time.
Guilt, remorse for alleged past sins, feelings of unfulfilled
responsibilities, depression and self doubt are all characteristic of this
time. But you must remember that everything seems worse than it really is.
Sometimes you have an irrational sense of fear or apprehension, when your
world seems to be populated by ghosts that haunt you. Illusion is
indistinguishable from reality. Clearly this can be one of the most difficult
of all influences.
Actually your ideas about the world are being changed, and the first step is
a process of disintegration that leaves you feeling extremely disoriented.
If you can, it would be a good idea to go into some kind of retreat or at
least try to minimize the demands of the everyday world for awhile. And as
you simplify your life in this way, concentrate on the very concrete aspects
of reality. Don't involve yourself in abstractions, for you can become lost
in them. Deal with everything on a very mundane, practical level, until your
sense of equilibrium begins to return. This is not a particularly good time
to study the occult or psychic disciplines unless past study has given you a
strong sense of proportion in these matters.
As you can see, its not a positive aspect, though like all I'm sure there
is room for growth through it.
The actual aspect itself has been affecting my chart since August of this
year, (when it was first exact), and will continue to do so until next May.
I'm assuming the reason its listed again is because it will be in exact
opposition again in December.
The reason I'm writing about this is because of how strongly it has been
affecting my life. I don't normally feel the transits this strongly, and this
one has been especially hard to deal with. I know it manifests itself
differently for every person but have any of you experienced (or are
experiencing) this transit recently??? If so, please share some experiences,
and maybe how you dealed/are dealing with how its effecting your life.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email to the

to the person asking for a composite chart with an event.. it is my opinion
that a synastry chart w/ event would be better. i am not sure whtether
astrodienst will allow for such a combinataion, but one could be worked out
by hand, using astrodienst's planet locators . good luck. (personally disdain
composite charts as only as good as their interpreter)

of horoscopes. Astrologer do not claim that Chiron is a regular "planet".
It is considered a "minor planet" in both astrology and astronomy.

My sun is in the 4th house and not in the 5th as you calculate. And my
ascendant is actually in 26 degrees and not in the 9 as you told here.

it's me again
I have another question....in my ascendant, neptune comes in..(maybe you
don't need to see my chart)---this is actually more, on how I feel about
it....but still, it's like it makes me seem/feel like a mirror...my
emotions/essence-whatever, aren't mine, but other's (almost like observing
how they'll react with first impressions and then adapting) maybe on the
superficial even intuitive level, and I'm afraid to 'realize' and confront
myself...cause, um, what if my feelings are 'dull', or it's like 'being a
mirror' really does 'spice things up'---and, because there are other aspects
that really do confront when feeling 'myself' or my feelings,but I end up
quite mental and I rationalize to a point into thinking, 'I have control over
my feelings', ext ext ext...cause I really can turn out quite abstract (ever
since my existencial crisis happened and made me see things
differently)--well anyways, these are suppose to be short doubts, though I
have a lot in my mind, and find it hard to summarize----I hope you write!
Even the smallest comment will do :D thank you! once again: great and
informative site!--------lot's of energies are in constant battle---how does
that 'stop'?!

And, by having 'neptune' aspects...being so aware of my 'feelings,

I'm perplexed...about the time issue. UT I'm assuming this is universal
time. I actually noticed it during the last full moon. The degree of the
full moon was off when I checked my chart for that day, however, when I
checked the transit positions for the next day (I am in USA/est)I realized
that the next day had correct degree placements. So... if I get this
correctly, when I check my chart,(for accurate placements)-I should check the
next day? Please confirm if this is correct. Thank You so much..I do

Hello! I am in a rut which seems to be a concentric spiral of 'bad luck',
although I live each day with hope and try to capture the positivity of this
existence on Earth.I was in a relationship (about10 years),which really
knocked me off the not untroubled course my life was on, got through some
really bad times, and find that I've had an Ok time relearning and
discovering new wonderful interesting ways of interpreting Life. Can't seem
to shake the negativity/doubt etc. which has me in a crushing head-lock and
makes me feel as though I have done something consequentially terrible for
which I have to repent or goodness knows what. Is there a possibility of
having been jinxed or cursed by myself or some other person? I am being made
desperate by this ugly situation which has made me 'homeless' since February
and seeems to be trying to grind my once full and 'driving' lifestyle to a
bizzarre halt, although, as I said earlier, so many amazing things happen so
often in my Life, especially on a consciously spiritual level, that I can but
cautiously go on living from day to day trying to avoid another downswipe at
my so put-upon, shocked, saddened soul.My birthday is 22-4-67, I was born in
Edgware, London, England at 0630. If there is anyone who can help me atleast
understand, even just a little, if it is possible to once again have a decent
uplifting existence without having to suffer this seemingly inane difficulty
which seems to be literally surreal and alien to a pattern of life which has
never been easy but is slipping evermore out of my control and turning into

Their data are stored in the server and accessed via a cookie stored on your local PC. If you loose or delete that cookie, or change your PC, this access
is lost.
It is much wiser to create a registered profile at 'my astro' which you can
access from anywhere at any time independent of a cookie. If you have not
done that yet, do it now.
A registered profile has other advantages, too.
For example, you can stored up to 100 natal data records, instead of only 4
in an anonymous profile.

This eclipse is truly killing me and my relationship. Him and I have been

I really like your detailed reports and appreciate that they are free-- but I
was curious about two aspects of mine-- bothe are exact within about an hour
of each other, both are active from 11/21 through 11/24, yet they are very
contradictory to each other. One is pretty negative and ominous, the other is

Thanks for the explanation of how a third enery is formed when doing the
composite charts. I found that very informative. I belive we tend to forget
how this energy forms a whole that interacts with the community and people in
general. A more in depth understanding of a couple and the how the world
views and interacts with them.
This takes away some of the confusion when doing a chart for two people.

Hello guys,
I heard about your website on my way to work early this morning and
Wow....very interesting.
As I am going thru a trying time with my relationship with my wife I thought
I'd give it a go.
My wife's chart and relevant info it is almost exactly what she is currently
experiencing.
I am however concerned that what ever the computer came up with for her
future is scaring the censored out of me.
It speaks of a possible marriage break-up or job loss......very negative.
I am freaked as we've (kids and all) just immigrated and only been living in
our adoptive country for a year.
What can I do to alter any of the predictions .....is it possible??

Saturn conjunct Venus in your wife's chart.
I do not agree with your qualification of that reading as 'very negative'.
I doubt that you have read it carefully - instead you apprently chose to 'freak out'. If you always do that in front of a challenge, you might have a problem.
Below is what Robert Hand has to say
on this transit. Certainly this is a serious transit in your wife's chart. A strong relationship
will come out of it strengthened.
Please remember that the text is written for the person who has this transit happening to her, not for the partner of that person. What you have done is a bit like reading another person's diary or mail. It is technically possible - nothing prevents you from entering another person's data into our system - but this kind of information gathering
always comes with a price.
Saturn conjunction Venus:
Harsh realizations
28 January 2003 until 19 March 2003: This influence will have a strong effect on your
relationships with others. Relationships that are solidly based will go through a period of

In reply to Stella's question 'Can the ascendant be in the 12th house?' the
answer is yes, it is always in either the 1st or the 12th house. Whatever
house system you are using the ascendant and midheaven degrees will always be
the same. You are using the Equal House system which makes all the houses
equal in length, but by doing so almost disregards the latitude for which the
chart is set up. That house system can work well, though experienced
astrologers will say it does not have the astronomical validity of others.
However, many years ago that is the one I began with. I mention this as with
other systems (while always having the same ASC/MC) you will have distortions
- i.e. huge houses, and very small ones and in some cases intercepted ones.

It would help a lot if Astro would include the houses and signs that aspects
and transits are occurring in. ie: Full moons. Also, in the information
index about houses, it doesn't tell you which planet rules the houses neither
does it tell you what house is associated with each planet in the planet
index. Of course, I could pull out a book to find out, but I think it would
be nice if you included this!

It is a frequent misconception to believe that www.astro.com is for
astrologers. Its target is the general public, to offer serious

by the way, what you wrote a week ago about quaoar and the next full moon,
was it serious? Is the IAU going to vote for it tomorrow?

Hi! I'm very interested in the group of asteroids between mars and jupiter
and I'm trying to find a meaning for them as a group. As the first known
asteroids were called after female gods and there is a lot about fertility
and mothership, maybe they can be placed under the sign of cancer? My
question is: do you have any experience with those asteroids? Do you think
they can be seen as a group? After all, they were ment to become a planet.

Alois adds: As a "group", the mass distribution of the 50'000 numbered
asteroids - nearly all of them in this asteroid belt you mention - is
totally smeared out over the ecliptic circle. I don't see what the point
would be to assign a meaning, as they cannot be located as a group, only
as individuals. From a scientific viewpoint, one should be aware that the
total mass of all asteroids except Ceres is only twice the mass of Ceres -
considering only the traditional asteroid belt, not TNOs.

You are wonderful! My mother was inro astrology so its in my DNA. I
especially admire Liz Greene and have found that she is quite well known in
UK. I have lived at an ashram for 25 years and really have nothing to ask
but Liz Greene is so wonderful I would like the Horoscope analysis. We live
so far out in the country and the mail is hopeless that I hesitate to order
but now you are saying it can be placed online. Another difficulty is
payment. I have a visa card but have never used it and so it may not be

from GMT but most astrologers here, and programs, say there is a 4 hour

database of timezones and DST is very precise and knowledgable. Please
understand that truth in data is not a matter of majority votes.
The Adobe print file you generate is 8.26 inches by 11.69 inches, which
sounds like standard European A4 paper size, rather than the US 8.5 X 11.0
inches size. Therefore, the Adobe file, for which I paid, prints with more
than 0.5 inch of content cut off, and this would happen for everyone with
US-dimensioned paper. What are your plans to correct this?

Alois adds: Adobe has solved this problem already. Every printer dialogue box of Acrobat Reader I have seen had an option "Shrink oversized pages to fit paper size" or "scale to fit paper size".

The free online chart readings have to be read precisely. You seem not to have done that - you fixed yourself one a single sentence out of the whole context.
In Astroclick Portrait, the text by Robert Hand about Saturn in House 2 reads like this - as usual Robert Hand expresses the relevant points in excellent writing:
You are quite cautious about spending money or any other resources, because you are afraid that there won't be enough. So you conserve and save wherever possible, in order to prevent an unexpected shortage of money or other resources. In some cases you may not have enough money, but it is more likely that you are motivated by fear of not having enough. On the positive side, this makes you a thrifty and careful planner in using money. But it can also make you overly cautious, so that you hold on to your money too tightly. And this kind of fear may set up vibrations in your world that attract situations in which you are actually deprived of money or possessions against your will.
You will work hard to get what you want, because for you that is a basic part of the value of anything. You do not respect or value anything that comes into your life too easily, so you work for it. You may envy people who seem to get what they want more easily than you do, but if you think about it, you will realize that you prefer it this way.
As an adult, you will have to watch out for a tendency to get so wrapped up in financial and property matters that they take over your life. Think of money and property as means to an end, not as ends in themselves.
I agree that the 'alternative interpretation' by Pelletier sounds worse - he is a less gifted writer with a rather literal style. I often wonder whether we should throw off the Pelletier material
from our website, because I cannot really underwrite a lot of what he says. Pelletier is not always as bad to read as in the case of Saturn, though.
Pelletier's comment in Saturn in 2nd house reads like this:
Saturn is found in the 2nd house at the time of your birth. This is not a very favorable astrological circumstance for the general course of financial matters in your life.
It might be difficult to maintain a relatively fair position because of financial losses. You might also take financial matters too serious, and burden yourself with worries about them.
Your arduous and dedicated work might produce less for you than it would for someone else normally. However, do not be discouraged. Saturn often grants a fairly normal financial status at an older age if one exerts himself in this direction.
If you make an effort to acquire greater enthusiasm in business, coupled with more liberality, life will change by the same degree.

I was wondering where I can find more information about Jupiter. I know lots
of books about the personal planets, saturn and the outer planets, but
Jupiter seems to be like the forgotten planet. People think jupiter is a

Maybe it's an idea to write down all important things that happen to you,
with date, time and location. Then, with those information, you go to a good
astrologer. Maybe he can see some kind of patron in it and find some

access to all the data in your account. There are two easy ways to share
the chart or reading, but to keep your other data secure:
a) in 'my astro', make sure you have a 'registered profile'. use View/Edit
profile and activate the 'high security' option in your profile settings.
Now, call up the chart or reading you want to share, and use your browser's
file menu to send a link to this page to your friend. Our 'secure option' is
constructed such a way that the recipient of this link will be able to view
the same page without login, but he is not able to see any other data in your
profile.
b) Alternatively, save the chart image as a GIF file on your local disk, using RIGHT mouse click, save
image as ...
Give the image file a convenient name like 'friend_chart.gif' and send it as
a normal email attachment. If it concerns a textual reading, copy/paste
the text into an email message. This lets you mail the content without

birth record, with all the consequences this would have for you by learning
about your biological birth.
I just want to tell you that I think you have a great site and offer even
better service to the world. I use it often and have referred others that. I
can't understand why anyone would be satisfied getting a canned sun-sign
daily horoscope e-mailed (with annoying banner ads) when this is at their
fingertips. Its the next best thing to investing in software.
Also I recommend beginning students compare writen daily horoscope with the
free charts to get practice reading charts - and there is no substitute for a
good teacher and discussion group, found locally around the globe. That is
how I found Astro.com in the first place and have made much personal progress
since. Long term transits are especially helpful for dealing with heavy
transits (ie: Pluto conj. Sun, Neptune square Neptune both transits that
require careful attention to subconsious urges, circumstance, etc.). I have
survived this very well, thanks to your site and help from my friends.
Question:
I wonder what criteria you use to select the computer selected transit or
aspect that opens the personal daily horoscope. It doesn't always seem to be
the most predominate aspect. Please post your answer. Others will probably
benefit. There seems to be some questions to that regard running through the
more critcal feedback I've read. Though may be that we just don't always like
what our horrorscope has to say on a daily basis...hummmm.

you have a serious transit, e.g. Saturn on the Aszendant. If on each day
the most important transit would be posted, you would get the SAME reading
for a large number of days.
It would be like a daily newpaper having the same
frontpage headline each day for two months. How boring!
Our system tries to select a different
transit every day, and to minimize repetition. It follows, that also issues
of lower importance make it to the frontpage headline.
This is why the 'long term influences' are listed.
Originally, the 'Personal Daily Horoscope' was created by Asrodienst not
for online use, but in the form of the printed 'Personal Horoscope Calendar'.
The Calendar covers 365 days and contains a half-page colum for each day with the reading
of the day and the listing of other transits, plus an index to find on which
date the reading for these other transits can be found.

My son was born with his Sun within a couple of degrees of the 9th house but
in the 8th. In his horoscope (L. Greene's), this was interpreted as being in
the 9th.
How accurate have you found this chart maneuvering to be? His horoscope did
not seem as right on as others I've received. However, it's possible it is
just difficult for me to see since he is still only 18.

Dear Alois, how can I count my solar horoscope for next year, as I have seen,
that by Astrodienst you dont have place of residence, so there shoud be no
problem to do it for Year 2003, specialy, when I am living only 200 km from
my birth place?

Alois adds: On the page 'Extended chart selection' there is a field
for 'start year' which can be used to select the year for the Solar return.
There is a link 'choose reference place' on the same page, and another such
link below the drawing of the solar return chart, which allows you to select
the location for which the solar return chart is computed.
We expect that our visitors are investigative and try out all options on the
web pages themselves - the computer does not bite you if you click on a link
or press a button, and it will also not break down. It is impossible for us to
teach everything, and nobody seems to read the FAQ pages anyway.
It is up to the users to try out what they find.
Please understand that we usually do not answer questions which are
answered in the FAQ section, or whose answers are obvious if you simply read
the complete data entry pages and look at all fields there.

Well, I already have an answer on my question what a and s concerning aspects
mean. But I still have a question. I would like to have an answer on this
question: at which speed is a planet called stationary. I mean, there must be
some kind of orbs for it.If you say a planet is stationary when it doesn't
move I do not believe you, because that's only for 1 or 2 seconds. It's
always moving! My question is how long do CONSIDER a planet stationary?

I am interested in understanding the meaning/representation of the true node
in a natal chart. I've read 'future potential' and 'destiny' as meanings.
If the true node was at 8 degrees (57'22''d) in leo at birth and we had a day
like today where the true node is at 8 degrees in leo-what is the
significance? I can't seem to find a satisfactory response. thank you

I enjoy astrodienst very much. I've learned how accurate the time of birth
needs to be, but this can present a problem. I'm thinking of DAYLIGHT
SAVINGS. In parts of Australia we have it, but it has not always been like
this. In NSW it existed in 1943 but was not introduced again until 1971. As
the exact time of birth is required, the factor of daylight saving is
therefore important, unless of course, astrodienst has already taken this
into account?

Alois adds: If you have the birth chart (foundation chart), you use this
chart. However, the traditional assigments of countries wih signs are
based on intuition, not on calculation. Some originate from Ptolemy, 2nd
century AD. You migth want to have a look at Nicholas Campion's 'Book of world
horoscopes'.
Where can I find information about declinations and occultations? Do you use
them?
And what do you think about Quaoar? Should we use it as a planet? And do You
think Quaoar is a good name? I wonder why it's the name of an indian figure
and not a greek one.
I know, it's a lot of questions, but maybe you can help me with one or more
topics.

Alois adds: Declinations are found in the 'additional data tables' which
come with each chart drawing.
It is too early to use 'Quaoar' in chart readings, it is at this stage just
an object of research. I don't like the name, but this name is not yet
official by the IAU (International Astronomicla Union). Maybe we get a better
one at the next full Moon.
i have extended horoscopes i just ordered it and i need to know how can i
tweak it? i want a more of a scope -like vertex,parts of fortune -uranian and
trans-neptunian in my horoscopes! ALSO -when will you have a service (in
expensive one) for people who have a need to know whats up in the sky? like
when will venus in the first trine uranus in the 4th? in my neighborhood?
