It would be so great if you could give the transits with the moonnodes in
your daily horoscope.
Is it really so? Or I cannot see them?

To all students and teachers of the art, religon, and science of astrology:
I have a question for you:
What does it mean if 2 people have almost idetical natal charts in the
arrangement and distribution of same planets into the same houses, but, the
signs are almost all different?
And to take it a step further,i.e.,(in one chart) the moon and rising are in
Sagittarius(this person)has 3 planets in the 9th house as well
And then in chart#2,(this person)has 3 planets(including Sun)in the 9th
house.
So, I would think that these 2 people would have a great similiar
interests, but they perhaps approach life/go about things differently.I would
think that these 2 people have some kind of karmic tie, even perhaps a soul
mate connection.Wouldn't you think so?
Can anyone please send me feedback to above address-please no advertising-I'm
currently unemployed and can only accept free answers-is there any free
medicine out thereI don't charge people for their ills,so if any astrology
students want to ask this still-rookie-astrology student a ???-I would be
happy to see if I can answer a question for you? I enjoy the challenge.
thank you, 9/30/02.

I am curious, is there any way to find horoscopes that are generally
accurate, and free.
I am 16 and have no money and would enjoy getting my horoscope to see if
there's hope.
However, the horoscope I received here was not only incorrect, but extremely
insulting: It told me that I am easily angered, which is very un*true, and
that I am intolerant of others and their individual traits which is a
remarkable charge to make against me, considering my diverse peers (I hang
out and talk with goths, atheists, satanists, Buhdists, gays, lesbians,
bisexuals, blacks, whites, Asians, Spanish people, etc etc).
One of my friends betrayed me for popularity, yet she came to me and
apologized later. I forgave her and never cussed her out or anything like
that.
So it was very insulting to me to be told that I am intolerant and angered
easily.
I know horoscopes are often incorrect, but this is way off.
So anyways, is there any place to find more accurate horoscopes for free?
Thanks for your time,
Take care,
Pat

Alois adds: I am afraid you confused something essential. You seem belive that
you received a PERSONALITY READING from astro.com. This is however NOT the
case, as you entered data on this website with 'birthtime unknown'.
With incomplete natal data like that, our site does not
output a personality portrait reading.
What you did receive from this website was
a DAILY HOROSCOPE. It does not describe your fundamental personality
but only a mood of the moment. To avoid misleading the other readers
of the feedback area, I provide here your complete daily horoscope for
today which read like this:
Little tolerance
Weak, transient effect: Tonight
you should be careful because the
energies of this influence are quite
discordant and could create
trouble in your personal life. The
problem is that you are rather
emotionally excitable and easily
irritated or angered now. With
other people you are far less
tolerant of individual quirks, and
little things irritate you. You may
also be in such a contentious
mood that no outside aggravation
is needed to set you off. Be wary
of arguing just for the sake of
arguing. But on the other hand, if
you feel real anger, you should
release the energy; don't hold it in.
Your domestic scene may not be
very peaceful under this influence,
but try to remain calm, no matter
how difficult it is. Relations with
women may be especially difficult.
Transit selected for today:
Moon Opposition Mars,
activity period from 30 September 2002 to 1 October 2002.
The conclusion I draw from your guestbook entry: the daily horoscope sounds
perfectly true to your mood of the moment.
Thank you!
To get a personality portrait from this site, you need to provide your birth
time. Without birthtime the only thing you can receive is a simplified
daily horoscope.
Please make an effort to discover your birth time first, before you return
to astrology. It is OK to want answers for free. You need however
to provide the necessary data. Take care.
how wonderful it is that this is available to those who call out for
assistance in their develoment of understanding. may all involved here enjoy
their rewards. thank you, thank you for this expression of love.

First of all, congratulations to a great astrology site!
Here is my question: Is there a general consensus among astrologers if
transits should be done using precession correction? In older persons the
timing of transits and the sequence of transits of different planets is
considerably different whether or not precession correction is used. Are
there any studies or data showing which method is more precise?
Thanks, Lisa

Alois wrote in the guestbook on 12-apr-2002 to the same question:
I consider 'precession correction' in tropical astrology
to be illogical and wrong. Tropical astrology uses a frame of reference which moves with the rhythm of the Sun-Earth-Moon system. The technique of
'precession correction' breaks this system by trying to introduce a notion of
'natal birth marks in absolute space'. This is false on several levels. The reference frame it introduces is not absolute, it translates and rotates with the
(fast) movement of the solar system within the galaxis. A transiting planet
does NEVER return to the point in absolute space where it once was. In a
post-Newtonian world view there is actually no 'absolute space'. The concept
of 'return charts' (and of transits alltogether) is, when you look deeper into it,
a symbolic concept, not a physical concept.
It should rather be applied in a consistent
symbolic system and not in an inconsistent potpourri of systems.
If you don't like
precession - a decision which I can respect even when I don't share it - you should do "sidereal" astrology with one of its unprecessed reference
frames, but not mix several incompatible systems. "Precession corrected" transits in tropical astrology are a bit like expressing
the height of a person as '5 feet and 20 centimeters'.
For more feedback to the same question, please read the guestbook replies
of 5-feb-2001 and 10-feb-2002.

Alois adds: Das finden Sie in einer gedruckten Ephemeride.
Homepage->[linke Spalte] Druckbare Ephemeriden -> 2003
Do any of your charts include the squares, trines etc on the actual chart ?

It's awfully presumptuous for the people writing the horoscopes to think that
the male readers have female partners and the female readers have male.
Maybe you should be more conscientious with the pronouns you use and remember
that there is such a thing as homosexual.
Sean

Alois adds: The problem is more difficult than you think. It is not
a problem of prejudice, but of language and data processing. While it would
be possible to write English text more or less gender-neutral, this leads
to horrible clumsiness in many other languages, which have much more gender
variation than English. Astrodienst's horoscopes are multilingual and all
solutions must work for all languages we support.
Instead of trying to write gender-free with poor text quality as a result,
we want to take advantage
of the power of text processing and get the gender-dependent wordings
right for each user, occording to his/her preferences. This has been
Astrodienst's policy since more than 15 years.
We have always had a special option for report orders, where a customer
could choose to have all partner-references expressed for same-sex partners.
The customer would have to tell us with his/her order, that the option s=hom
should be entered. Long-term customers and resellers in the gay and lesbian
communities know about this option and place their orders accordingly.
In the free horoscope service, we found it difficult how to offer this
option to our users. Many conservative heterosexuals would react negatively,
if we ask them to enter their gender-preferences for partners.
We have now studied this problem at Astrodienst once again, and found a good
solution. Within a few days, you will find it online. When you hit again
a horoscope reading with expressed gender-dependent partner references,
you will find a link at the bottom of that reading - or in the introduction -
which guides you how to tell the computer to use same-sex partner references.
Please be patient for a few more days.
We will continue to use heterosexual partnerships as the default mode, but
make it easy to switch. The switch will be persistently stored, so next time
you access a horoscope for the same person, the chosen gender preference will be
obeyed.
All this applies only to single-person horoscopes.
In partner horoscopes our text has always been correct. The gender of both
partners is explicitely known and the wording is correct.
If you find a wrong gender reference in a partner horoscope (Short Report
Partner or Astroclick Partner), this is just an editing error. Please report
it with precise information, using the 'report a problem' link at the
bottom of the corresponding page.
Update 22-Oct-2002: Today we have activated the new feature which
allows to indicate the gender preference for a partner.
I am surprised and very happy to discover that written astrologi on the net
can be so professionel and well written. My very best compliments to
Astrodienst.

25 years experience...to answer what I think are the
best tools in astrology...1) transits and progressions
(one to one of day for year, decade, century)
includes regressions(past lives) too
Especially good is the 60x harmonic(= minutes of arc degree) which I call the
sol harmonic. Each point
of the 10 planets and the MC, ASC marks the most
significant when exact, the more time the aspects last, the greater the
effect.. That is my view now. The uranus-pluto squ. of 2010-2015 is a real
concern. My writing speaks of this.

I have consulted your website on a number of astrological issues and

place with a similar spelling in India.
The town's coordinates are:

I've stopped in today to acknowlege all of the fine work of he staff here in
the creation of a website and service I consider unequaled in accuracy, ease
of use, and accesabilty. On this day as the Sun and Mercury (retro or not!)
team up on my own natal Venus/Ascenedant in an easy trine to my Saturn (no
doubt affected by that lingering transit of Neptune), I can't help but say
something constructive and perhaps inspirational about this site.
I am so happy that this resorce is available to us all, in a time of years,
when our 11th and 12th sign rulers are so very very active. I might bite my
lip later to say that if I could recommend any improvement today, it would be
to provide a larger picture of my favorite astrologer! I think that with
Jupiter at such odds with Pluto right now, with a Scorpionic Venus set
between in square, I am feeling dizzy in a swoon of attraction and
admiration for everyone!
So again, I thought to mention here that I have a great confidence in the
accuracy of the chart creation program, and it should me mentioned, since I
have encountered some that would say otherwise. For me, it beats using
colored pencils in that old stack of emphemrie.
If I were to ask for personal advice with this feedback tool, it might be how
to regard the feelings I get from a person who has placed 6 or 'her' 10
planets in my 5th house. A condition I am personaly finding some difficulty
with, as other circumstances in my life interfere.

Dear Alois and readers,
First of all, thankyou very much, Alois and colleagues, for providing such an
excellent and generous service.
I have a question with regard to transits by planets in retrograde motion.
As very much a novice in this field, I appreciate that this is not the
appropriate forum for me to pester for basic information. However, if any
readers would be kind enough to give me their thoughts, I would very much
appreciate it.
My question is:
If a transit occurs by a planet in retrograde motion, and if one accepts that
a retrograde transit is manifested in a suppressed, unusual, or even negative
manner, then would the normal effect of that transit be suppressed,
manifested in a surreal way, or even reversed?
It is my impression (from recent feedback regarding Mercury retrogradation)
that this matter is somewhat controversial - what do others think?
It has generally been my experience (perhaps a case of only consciously
observing what I expect) that retrograde Mercury is slightly disruptive for
me. Furthermore, retrospectively, I have realised that some rather marked
disruptions in my personal life have occurred during retrograde Venus or Mars
transits through the relevant houses of my chart. Therefore, I do personally
tend to treat retrograde hypotheses with a fair degree of respect as far as
house transits are concerned!
However, I have not thought to observe (a novice!) whether this occurs with
regard to aspects to planets. Furthermore, I have generally found the
Personal Daily Horoscopes to ring true, regardless of whether the transiting
planet is regrograde or not. Is there any means, or indeed any need, to
reconcile these seemingly conflicting observations?
The specific transit I have in mind, is that I am currently experiencing
Mercury Sextile Mars (exact yesterday, with Mercury retrograde, and natal
Mars direct in Leo).
My wonderful Personal Daily Horoscope tells me that under this influence,
people will respect me for taking a stand for my beliefs. (I certainly hope
they do!). Now, I am not going to base my life around this - either I was
going to take a stand anyway, or I was not... (and no responsibility for my
action will be attached to AstroDienst!) and afterwards, no doubt I will have
discovered whether or not other peoples' respect for my beliefs was
supressed. However, I would be very interested to know what other people
think about this subject.
Kind regards,
Kristie

First, could you please tell me how/where would I attain that info about my,

It is an astronomical fact, the intersection point of the ecliptic circle

wonderful content. It's like a little cave of wonders for the novice (like
me) and, I would think, for the more experienced. There's a very strong
healing vibe, and a very balanced presentation of data.
What I like most is the real attempt being made to bind astrology with
psychology in order to assist our self development, as opposed to the
predictive, fortune telling cousin that trivialises our intuitive sense of
astrology's real worth, and any real future: self discovery of a gradual,
sympathetic and relational kind that explores our shared nature. Thanks and
keep up this necessary work!

sehr geehrtes Astro-Team,
Zerstörung Europas in weiten Teilen. Was sagt die Astrologie dazu?

Arzt in diversen Pestepidemien
Alois,
Thanks so much to your detailed and caring response to my inquiry...I
especially like your comment about War of the Roses and ASS sued off!

Not being very learned in astrology, though perhaps would definitely like to

this Neptune cusp 5, Venus in Aries opposite Neptune, etc, mentioned in your
response.
Also, how could I get in-depth knowledge of astrology.. for personal use or

It is fascinating to me..but also want to learn the real potential of it and
real purpose of this knowledge, as well as it's true source.

the most complete astrology book i know of is parker's guide to astrology or

all the planets in the signs, houses, aspects, progressions, and transits,
and a whole lot more. still, i think you need a lot more than one book.
different books give you different views of things. another book i really

really interesting examples and i find it very helpful as well as

Thanks for your generous free charts. I love your web, the daily and partner

The only mistake you made or the big luck for me is that you didn't develop a
Astro TV Show based on the wisdom of your web site. I make lots of friends

not give any detail about our visions now. Perhaps in some months or years.
I think that a Astro TV channel will be much more powerful than any other
spiritual buisiness.
We work slowly and over the years. We will need the participation of hundreds
or thousands of millins of people. Sure these persons participate only if
they want to particiape. But we will need them . We will. Because without
them we will be lost. In Europe as well as in the USA as well as anywhere in
the world. It is just a vision or a dream. we will work on that dream with
freinds and university professors. So I hope that we can realise it in the
next 3 or 4 years. I hope that this Show will be my finish work for my media
studies. And I hope taht it l become one of the best shows of this planet.

--- Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 17:14 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: Dear Margo, I am sorry if you are disappointed about the reports
you received.
Disappointment tends to arise when your expectations and your actual
experience do not agree. This applies to both, your relationship with
your lover/husband as well as to the services you received from Astrodienst.
If you expected the report to tell you on black ink 'this person tends
to cheat in love relationships', then you expected wrongly. People are not
machines with a fixed program, their behaviour is not fully predictable.
Horoscopes are not sufficiently deterministic to answer such questions with
yes or no.
It is possible that an astrologer in a personal counselling situation could
make a clearer statement about the behaviour of your lover/husband in the
relationship with you, after having talked to you and hearing what you have to say
about him and about your relationship.
In computerized reports shipped by mail order, it would be irresponsible
to make such clear statements. "Sugarcoating" is essential, as we do not wish to
sell weapons to be used in the War of the Roses. We would hurt people by making
such statements about them, and we would get our ass sued off.
The Psychological Horoscopes you received are an excellent tool to get
a deeper insight into your own and your partner's personality and soul-life,
and the Relationship Horoscopes provides deep insights into the inner nature
of your relationship or marriage. It will also help you to understand why you
picked him / why he picked you. However, the horoscope will not predict how long
your relationship will last, or whether your partner will cheat on you or not.
We did never promise this kind of answers.
You might want to consider personal councelling, either by a qualified
marriage counsellor or an good psychologically trained astrologer, in your local environment.
Looking at your and your partner's chart, it may be that while he likes
to play around with the eyes (Neptune cusp 5), he is quite stable in his actual commitment in a
partnership. I have more doubt about your own Venus in Aries, exactly
opposite Neptune, in regard to the longterm stability of your own feelings
of love. Also you might have been wounded in relationships in the past (Chiron
conjunct Descendant), out of
which arises a mistrust which is hard to overcome.
In the end, you need to trust your own feelings - and develop your feelings
of trust.
I just wanted to give you folks a heart felt, warm thank you for providing
such a great service to the international internet community for free. I have
used your services for about 2 years now and have found it very, very
helpful. I hope you can continue with this, it really is beautiful and really
appreciated. God Bless You!

Dear Alois
I was looking for a comment you wrote some time ago about Mercury retrograde,
but I find it very difficult to do. Is there a chance astrodienst will have a
search engine to search the site and the guestbook archives?
The comment, by the way, as far as I can remember, was about mercury
retrograde's effect on our life being only a superstition. But I wasn't sure,
therefore I looked to read it again. Was I right? I am not a professional
astrologer, just a person trying to benefit and learn from astrology as much
as I can.
Thank you, as always, enjoying astrodienst,

Alois adds: We will have a search engine at some point.
But you can also load the guestbook archive, and use the browser menu 'find
in this page' to find what you need.
My opinion about retrograde Mercury is not part of main-stream astrology.
I am not sure I would want to repeat it in public in such sharpness.
I respect the fact that some astrologers use techniques and have opinions
which do not fit with my own personal experience. Different people seem to be
sensitive to different kind of aspects.
The Mercury placement in my natal
chart might be so benign (conjunct Jupiter, and part of a grand trine)
that I never get to feel any adverse effect or synchronicity
of that planet, whatever it does on the sky.
This might be why I never felt any negative effect or synchronicity of retrograde Mercury
periods. After all, often you get what you - consciously or unconsciously -
expect.
I found your site very useful, i had my chart interpreted by an astrologer
and decided to do some interpreting myself. I worked out the part of fortune
how you said and found it fit my personality more clearly, and was completely
different from what the astrologer had said. Thank you.

Horoskope
entsprechend unsicher. Berlin fällt zu keinem Zeitpunkt unter diese Rubrik;
Wirklich unsichere Fälle in Deutschland gab

in the chart which it transits before it goes retrograde.
A transit begins with the first entry into orb, and is not over until
a transiting planet FINALLY leaves the orb. This way, a Venus transit can
begin now, but remain valid until two and a half months later, when Venus
has finally left the (1 degree) orb of that aspect.
For more details, please read the recently extended 'Frequently asked
Questions' area, see link in left column of homepage:
FAQ, near the bottom of
that page 'transit durations'.

Hi ,
I have been looking at your site contents for some time. I have this
question.
1. We all know that each individual has own unique birth charts.
2. we also know that there are 12 zodiac signs in sequence ( make a note of
this ) in sequence ie aries, taurus , gemini , cancer ....
this is the natural sequence.
3. every individual gets a rising sign which may be cancer or leo so the
person chart would follow the new sequence cancer as first house , leo as
second house etc and not aries , taurus , gemini etc sequence.
I am having a chart from your site which gives me the 12 house chart starting
with cancer as first house, leo as second and so on . But after I get through
several documents I find that people still treat the aries , taurus , gemini
as standard sequence to denote the characteristics like home, career , sex ,
friends and so on .
There is absolutely no change in the placements of planets by any sequence
but cancer becoming the first house instead of 8th house would naturally tilt
the balance if there is a planet at the cancer house.
according to your website my 10th house is aries and there are moon and venus
but according to the standard sequence my first house if it was aries then in
my first house I would be having moon and venus , am i right .
why we get that birth chart with houses interchanged with new sequence
instead just the planet placement in signs following the natural sequence 1,
2,3 aries, taurus , gemini would be the right one. I am not sure of this ,
help me .

I have been visiting this site for over two years now and I have always been
very fond of astrology but also skeptical about the accuracy. For that reason
I have always read my daily horoscope at the end of every day to compare my
day to the written horoscope. I must say that AstroDienst has yet to fail to
meet my expectations. At first I thought it was just a coincidence that the
events that went on throughout the day were described so clearly in the
horoscope but after two years I realize that there are talented and gifted
Astrologists who keep many people entertained and fulfilled with their
knowledge of the stars. For that reason i wish to thank you for making such a
website available to all those who are interested. i look forward to reading
my horoscope later on tonight : )

garbage in - garbage out.
This means: if you enter false data, you get false
answers. If you get questionable output, check your own input first.
You have entered 11.11 am for Laura, not pm.
As a simple check, you need only to look at the Sun in the chart drawing. The Sun in the 11th
house can't be right for a night birth. For a night birth the Sun must be under
the horizon, in the lower half of the chart drawing.
question
Is there a software which sets up a daily circular wheel showing the
positions of the planets according to ones location on earth ,so that one
could point to the planets positions ?

Alois adds: Your request is not fully clear. Basically, a chart drawing
is already what you want, and you find beautiful chart drawings on this
website.
To use it to look up the planets on the sky, you need to have
an idea where the tropical zodiac is found on the sky (tropical signs of the
zodiac
are not the same as the sidereal fixed-star constellations).
For oberservation purposes, you will be better served with astronomy software.
Please use google.com to search for it.
I am surprised by the apparent differences
between a horoscope cast for me as being born in Champaign, Illinois and
another cast using Urbana, Illinois, as my place of birth. These cities are
adjacent one another, and simply crossing a street can take one from Urbana
to Champaign.
Also, there is some confusion about the time zone of this area in 1942. I
believe the area was using what was called War Time during the month of
August, 1942, but AstroDienst lists the zone as Central Standard Time. War
Time, I believe, was the same as today's Daylight Saving Time. So the time of
my birth was probably registered using War Time, or Central Daylight Saving
Time rather than Central Standard Time.
Since I was an infant when the family left the area of my birth, I know
nothing about the cities other than that Urbana/Champaign are often referred
to as the same city. Chicago, for example, covers a much larger area than
Champaign-Urbana, but Chicago is treated as a single location for charting
horoscopes, whereas Champaign and Urbana are assigned differing latitudes and
longitudes.
I'm wondering how professional astrologers handle these situations.
I find your site extremely useful and interesting. Thanks much for providing
it.
Sergio Caballero [ lalocaballero.xyz*xyz.aol.com ]
San Francisco, US --- Sunday, September 1, 2002 at 00:52 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: I have to contradict you: There are no differences at all in the
chart or in the reading, whether you cast your horoscope for Champaign or
Urbana. But there are 11 different towns named Urbana in our database,
maybe you picked the wrong one without noticing that it did not say 'IL'
behind it.
About timezones, I can assure you that 'believe' is not enough. We do better
than that, we KNOW.
In Illinois there was a law in 1942 which obliged birth registrars to make
all registrations not in 'war time' but in Central Standard Time. All officially
registered birth data have to be assumed to be in CST. This is what our database assumes.
When you entered your data on our website, a flashing red waring message appeared on the data entry form:
We assume that birthtime was registered lawfully as CST
If your birthtime originates not from an official registry document but from a
private recording, you have to assume that it was not recorded with the (stupid)
official rule, but with common sense, i.e. in 'wrist watch time'. In that case
you need to use 'manual timezone'.
To do so, please click the checkbox manual timezone and press continue, then select the entry w05:00 EST/CDT.
Our system is very carefully implemented. Normally, you should rely on the
automatic settings.
We can only represent the legal timezone rules; when these are strange, we
issue a warning. If a user knows that HIS data deviate from the lawful recording
standard, the manual feature should be used.
