Alois -- I am heartened by your apology to the readership for the tone of
your reply to Anne. I hope Anne understands this as an apology to her as
well. Although I'd like to point out that, by my observations of the replies
yesterday, what made the readership angry was NOT the unfortunate reliance on
heterosexual references, but your unfortunate initial responses.

I am very interested in the new planet, KX76. What will be its influence?
I have an intuitive feeling that it will have something to do with Aquarius,
but maybe that's wishful thinking, being an Aquarian myself, and feeling that
something in the Aquarian psyche/life experience has been unrecognised.
Who decides? How is it decided? Interesting questions...
I once wrote something on this feedback site, asking the chicken and egg
question, the influences of planetary configurations and planetary aspects
are interpreted by astrologers, (a rose by any other name would smell as
sweet) how does this work?

Varuna observations for the collective mill:
chart 1) Varuna smack dab on the IC (subject's father was a Libra)
chart 2) moon conjunct Varuna (subject's mother was a Libra)
chart 3) venus in exact opposition to Varuna
(subject is a professional relationship i.e. Libra
psychologist-astrologer)
charts of 3 siblings) Sun in trine or conjunction to Varuna (parents married
for 47 years)
chart 4) mars on ascendant oppose Varuna on descendant (subject has combative
marriages)
chart 5) mercury conjunct Varuna (subject frequently socializes with lawyers,
a profession I'm associating with the mythology of Libra)
chart 6) Varuna conjunct IC (subject demonstrates a deep instinct for
diplomacy
chart 7) Venus trine Varuna (subject is extremely fair-minded)
chart 8) moon opposition Varuna (subject's mother left marriage and then
returned)
Quick observation: Varuna often makes strong aspects to the Sun (not so much
the moon)
Could we be looking at the outer planet ruler of Libra?

I checked back here to see if you had made any reply to my effusive
compliments and instead was very disturbed to see your comments to Anne.
While I am perfectly happy with the old male/female gender divisions and am
not a lesbian, so what's the big deal, I think that you could have been far
more sensitive in your reply to that customer. She was simply asking a
question, and not necessarily bearing a grudge against you--trying to share
her views with you, not warp yours. I thought this was a feedback column.

Dear Astrodienst,
Thank you so much for a truly amazing website. What a wealth of astrological
information. The transit reports have been extremely interesting, and quite
intriguing for their degree of accuracy. But today I was quite dismayed to
see that your reports are set up with the very tired old assumption of
heterosexuality. Just because Mars is conjunct Venus, why do you have to
assume that means sex drive towards the opposite sex??! I hadn't run across
any other of your astro writings that were so blatant about conflating
masculine feminine principles with gender, so I had thought you'd moved
beyond those outdated assumptions, and was very disappointed to discover I
was wrong. Any chance this is something you'll consider updating to reflect
the true diversity of the world?
Best wishes, and thanks.

, USA --- Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at 09:20 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: [Jan 31: I have withdrawn my original reply and apologize. My tone was
sarcastic. Also, I had tried to explain
why we chose to stick with the original wording chosen by the text author,
which required translation by the reader into her or his life circumstances.
My reply had led to angry exchanges, so I have decided to
withdraw it and reconsider the issue. I have also removed two more recent
entries which would hang in the air without my original reply. They have reached
their purpose of changing my mind about the necessity to edit the text.]
The author of the original text had probably chosen the wording 'with the opposite sex'
because in the 1970ies, when Robert Hand wrote it, the sensitivities around
these issues were less developed than they are today.
Astrologically, there is a concept of male and female principles, which
reach much deeper than biological gender, imbedded in certain planetary
archetypes. If two such opposing principles meet, like in your case of
a Mars-Venus conjunction the easiest and most concise
way to describe this process is by reference to a male-female encounter.
This image is chosen without wanting to imply that sexual relationships should
be between a man and woman only.
I have gone through the text of the daily horoscope and changed the wording
in the twenty cases, where it mentions 'relationships with the opposite sex'
in such a way that it is less likely to evoke future comments like yours, Anne.
Some of the original sharpness of the image may have been lost in this process,
but this is preferable over making a large proportion of the readership angry.
In single person horoscope readings we do not know the sexual gender
preferences of the reader. If we knew, we could adapt the wording in such a way
that it is satisfactory for all cases. Therefore, in single person horoscopes,
a reader may find the occasional reference which seems to imply a heterosexual
relationship pattern. In such a case, the deeper meaning of the text is not
about a male-female relationship, but about the meeting of the male and the
female principles which can happen independent of the gender of the persons
involved. We hope our readers can translate this into their personal
life circumstances. There are many other elements in the text which
imply a certain cultural reference frame and need to be translated into
the actual life situation of the reader. We are open to suggestions by our
readers about how we can redeem shortcomings of our text, without distorting
the original writing of our authors. Constructive suggestions are welcome.
In partner horoscopes, the gender
of both persons is known, and Astrodienst has gone through great efforts
in its reports and the various translations to make sure that
the wording of the report is adapted, depending on the gender of both partners.
I stumbled across Astrodienst and saw Liz Green, and Robert Hand...free
horoscopes, and went crazy. Many years ago, Liz and Jeff Green were the most
exciting wonderful individuals that I could ever hope to meet. I was taking
an astrology class at Astroloty Et Al in the U-district in Washington State.
Never got to finish it, but always wanted to meet these people two people as
well as Robert Hand. We had heard so much about them in our classes. I have
had more fun with these free horoscopes. It has caused me to want to return
to the subject I so dearly love. Thanks for your generous gifts and
fantanstic information. I will be visiting this site often!!

Dear Liz,
What an astonishing tour de force your Psychological Analysis is!!!! If I
ever wondered if astrology was just a toy my doubts have been blasted out of
the water.
The moment we draw the breath of life into our body somehow we make a link
with the cosmos and our purpose is activated. I have a good working knowledge
of the personality tools Myers Briggs and Enneagram and your analysis of me
provided by a computer programme [!] was right on the button. Even though it is
very personal I have shown it to friends and they confirm its accuracy.
I would like you to know that I am a Christian and that the information you
have given me would be regarded as forbidden in some circles of the church
but my wise old spiritual director, Jim, says knowledge is power and I had
sent away for it by then anyway. Jung was one of the great prophetic voices
of our age and indeed of any age. You are carrying on his work in a very
appropriate way for this millenium.
The persona charts are fascinating too. I would heartily reccommend them to
people and they are free.

Relationships can work for
an astonishing range of reasons, and they can fail for a large range of
reasons. Sun signs play only a minor role in that process.

Alois adds: I am afraid I do not understand your problem. To login to a registered account, please go to the 'my astro' page and login. For login you have
to use the email
address under which you had registered. Whether it is your current real
email address or not is irrelevant. Once you are logged in, you
can use 'edit profile' to change your email address to your current one.
Please understand: you should NOT REGISTER with your new email address. This
would create a new empty profile without natal data. You
need to LOGIN with your old email address.
If you just REGISTER under a new one, you will
of course not see your OLD data.
The reason why astro.com uses an 'email address' as the main identifier for
a user profile are twofold:
1) email addresses are unique, there are no two identical ones for different
persons. Our users do not have to memorize names under which they have
registered; they will usually remember their email address.
2) If a users forgets his astro.com password, he can have it emailed. For
this second feature to work, the email address should be real. Just as
an identifier for an account, the registered email address does not have to be
real, it can be pure fanatasy.
Help! I cannot access my account with all of my data:( I just lost my job so
I switched my account to my home email address, and now it seems to be

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. Reading a chart of an event is a much
more limited matter than reading a birth chart of a person. A birthchart
of a person contains the full amount of possibilities imbedded in a human
being, combined with the particular astrological patterns presiding over
the moment of birth.
When you call up a chart for a particular event, the focus is much more
limited, if you know about the kind of event (e.g. start of a particular
business, purchase of a property etc). It is much less interesting for
astrological writers to write textbook interpretations for event charts, than
for birth charts of persons with their rich range of human possibilities.
Astrodienst is not in possession of text for event charts which we could use.
I do not know whether such text has ever been written down by any good
astrological writer. If we could find such textbook material of good
quality and acquire the right to use it on our website, we might extend
our service in that field.
You can of course 'fake' the event chart into a person, by assigning
a gender, and then get the child's reading for that chart (or an adults,
if the event happened several years ago). Then you can try to translate
the child's reading to your particular event. At least, it will give you some
ideas about the cosmic patterns presiding over your particular event date.
First visit to your site, and your reading for me today, Tuesday, January
22nd was so accurate! It was as if you knew exactly what I am going through
currently in my personal life! I had recently registered for a free daily
horoscope from another site, but unfortunately, they do not even come

Hi again!
I have a disturbing thought. For the longest time, I felt that something
particular, something extremely important, will happen directly to me. An
event so drastic that it might change my entire life. I even pinpointed that
day (using my less than strong intuition)...the day being Febuary 22, 2002,
or 2/22/2. I first thought that I would get married on that day. Hoever,
recent circumstances allowed me to remain ever loving to my partner, without
the marraige ceremony.
So today I decided to take a look at my natal and transit chart for that day.
To my surprise, transiting Mars (in the 11th hs) opposes my natal Pluto.
What's more noticeable to me is that transiting Pluto (in the 7th hs) opposes
transiting Saturn (in the 1st hs) with an 8-9 degree orb.
ALSO, transiting Pluto makes a sextile to my natal Mars. And Chiron is in the
12th hs, in the sign of Taurus.
What can you tell me about this forthcoming, self-significant day? I would
REALLY like to know.
Yours Truly in Every Sense,

Hello, Astrodienst Team!
I wanted to thank you all for creating such an informative website. There
seems to be a limited supply of information on the subject, however, the
AstroDienst.com Team has shared what they know. That helps the beginner and
intermediate student of astrology, as well as the dabblers.
A quick change of subject: I recently read a book called Astrology,
What's Really In the Stars? It critized the 'science', or what the author
named, 'religion'. (What does Astrodienst.com call the Study of Astrology?)
The author also made several factual claims on the mythology of the study of
the stars. There was a lot of truth in what the author wrote. He asked
several questions on the subject and whole-heartedly critized it to the
teeth.
Astrodienst Team: What is Astrology to you?
I ask myself the same question. There are several answers, however, the
author of Astrology, What's Really In the Stars? disagrees on all answers
basing its evidence on statistics and long-term studies.
So please take a look at the book and write back to me with some feedback
because I (a lonely student of astrology) am questioning the entire
situation. Confusion sets in.
Thank you,
Will Stich

Alois adds: Astrology for us is something that we do, that we practice, in
the particular style that we prefer (there are other possible styles).
I myself am not much interested in its theory. If your are interested
in its theory, I recommend that you read a few books on the subject and
subscribe to some magazines, e.g. The Mountain Astrologer.
For me, it is the same as with sex: Some do it, some just talk about it.
Also there, I have always found its practice much more interesting than
its theory. I could also have said 'food', 'reading literature', 'bicycling'
or 'computer programming' instead of 'sex'.
I apply the same attitude to all my favorite pasttimes. I am a practical
person, and leave the philosophy to the philosophers.
Talking about philosophers: my coworker
Dieter Koch, who is a fully
trained philosopher, has recently published a new book which answers
all your questions: Kritik
der astrologischen Vernunft. Eine Klärung des Anspruchs der Astrologie,
Antworten der Astrologie an ihre Kritiker. (ISBN 3-931806-03-0)
[engl: Critique of Astrological Reason. An explanation of what astrology
claims, and answers of astrology to its critics.]
You might have to learn German to read it, but it's worth it.
I forgot to mention that you have a truly great website. You have a true
humanitarian sense to help people as well to have a business.

My chart seems somewhat accurate, however I can't help but feel that it is
off kilter for some reason. My Neptune is in the 5th house but after some
research, I can't help but feel it is in the 4th house, because of the way my
father was to me and that I always felt adopted or born into the wrong
family. Could it be that it on the cusp? Also my Venus is squaring my
mid-heaven. Are there any articles on yoour website about the squaring the
mid-heaven, it seems prety horrible the way my career is going. Are there any
articles regarding the different mid-heavens?

I just read your feedback to Markus Prokott from 20st January. I always find
it very positive and encouraging that your approach to astrological
interpretations has been a progressive approach as you read the planets from
a deep psychological level and which is connected to mythology as well. It’s
really very uplifting to see that you are dealing with astrology from such a
profound insight and knowledge.
Earlier astrology has dealt with it in a more “black and white” way which is
kind of
very gloomy. But thankfully the time quality has changed and at least some
astrologers,
like Liz Greene, have shown astrology in a way which is most helpful for
anyone’s psychological and spiritual growth in a very encouraging and I
think rightful way. I read her book on “Saturn” long time back and it is
amazing. I wonder if there is any other astrologer who came to such
insights.
I cannot understand one thing , that in India the outer planets, like Uranus,
Neptune and Pluto have not been yet included into the interpretations. Plus
the interpretations are still in this “black and white” image: Saturn is
negative and certain planets together give a negative result and certain
houses are considered “bad” and so on. Due to this I feel reluctant to
approach any astrologer for any studies. I feel somehow India has missed to
“update” their way of looking at astrological symbols. Yet, India is supposed
to have the most ancient and profound knowledge in astrology. As far as
predictions are concerned
astrologers claim to be able to be very accurate. Nevertheless I feel
reluctant due to the very fact that I feel that the psychological insights or
a higher perspective is missing.
I would very much appreciate to know your opinion to it. Thank you.

It is very frustrating that many of the astrology books you refer to in your

Hello
I'm writing from french to english, so forgive my mistakes, please - so, I
want to know why Ceres, the biggest asteroid, hasn't yet been used on this
site. Studying it for 2 years personnally, i can say now its action and
symbolism, related to Virgo and the sixth house, can be revealed as very
important in astral charts when placed in Virgo sign, in conjonction with the
Sun and others meaningful places. Like Virgo, it deals with rationnal
intelligence and some faculty of good judgment, but also criticism and
introverted anger, doubt, incertainty, the need to take care of others and to
be helpful somehow, through education, social services, and ecology...etc. It
is a really rich symbol of growing civilisation, and i repeat myself saying
its action has to be recognized, as important as Pluto for example, though in
a very much more discreet way.
In France, there's an excellent book dealing with this subject called: Ceres
- mistress of Virgo by Jean de Larche.
Is there any book on this subject in England (or in US) ?
Bye.

was ich sehr schade fände. Gerade die Horoskope nach Liz Green würden mich
sehr interessieren.

feeling was left.
Was regular human walking across

disappeared just went blank.Like the normal contents of normal
human head that make us human being went blank.Lost my
original human head that made me the person born as and became blank.Lost
faculties and
human intelligence and personality and just became blank like
brain was not there just dissolved and didnt connect to anything. As brain
faded so did the
person.Lost the person born as because the person is in the
head right.Dont know why have to be this blank person when am supposed to be
person born
as a normal human like everyone else instead was blanked out.Anyway wonder if
there
is reincarnation and how can i be born human again with the dame parts as
everyone else a
regular human with
normal human components and no brain damage or fried circuitry just a
person.How does this
work. How does one attaina normal human birth with normal human intelligence
thought this
was a
given just to be normal human with normal human brain not be toasted. One
minute was
normal with all normal human faculties the next was just shelled out all
faculties reduced
brain sort of just wasnt there. Also if pass with dementia how can one go
on.and get the normal
human form again with normal human head that contains human not
blankness.

What a gift, this website. I check the dailys often and the map has helped
me to manually identify channels for the spirit plays that I write for
children. When I figure out how to express the whole process, I'd be glad to
share it with other creative writers. I've shared the website with many
people. Many beloved friends on the island have died in the last two months,
all different ages and I'm noticing some serious mental overload and
friendship burnout. I have a Gemini moon and learned a lot about the
challenges of Gemini energy. I'm grateful to be able to pass on awareness of
this to others in this Saturn in Gemini phase. Passing the website on to
help others create awareness is such a blessing. I don't stay on long
because of the electromag overload. But the short hits are great. Thanks
again.

Dear Astrodienst:
I've reviewed the Long Term Forecast report I recently ordered and was a bit
disconcerted by it. According to this report, I'm headed for a very rocky
road and have not much to look forward to for the next 5 years. Am I
misinterpreting this or what??? Does this report take into account the
aspects I was born with as an optimistic person?? I've basically decided not
to pay attention to the report in order to keep my wits about me. Please
advise.

hello,
i really enjoy your site. i visit it almost every day find a lot of
insightful and useful information. thank you!!
one thing i've noticed is that your interpretations have a predominately
heterosexual perspective. if a partner or love relationship is mentioned,
for example, it is assumed to be with someone of the opposite sex, as though
intense and meaningful relationships between people of the same sex are not
possible or valid.
on the other hand, i am glad that it is possible to enter information for 2
people of the same sex and get very interesting accurate readings (for
example in the free horoscopes section).
yet i would like to hear your response to my concern above. thank you again
for your great service.

For centuries and centuries astrologers have delivered valid chart
interpretations and psychological sketches in which people would recognize
themselves. They used to explain jealousy, faith, wrath through a seemingly
logical system which -of course- never mentioned Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
Today, these planets are said to be the most powerful ones and they seem to
explain everything (major crisis in life etc.) This disturbs me a little bit
from a logical point of view. Doesn't it mean that WHATEVER you say you can
find a seemingly valid astrological justification ? How could astrologers
from the past explain all the events we regard as the consequence of the
influence of these planets ? Their predictions should have been very bad if
they did not have what we regard as the key to everything ? And yet, their
predictions were considered as admirable... This question is not a
provocation but the expression of my curiosity.

I'm curious about astrochartography in context of my birthchart.
I was born 2/12/67 which makes me an Aquarius with the generation planets
like Uranus and Pluto in Virgo. According to a Map, I created with my exact
birthtime, I have My Uranus Midhaven going directly over San Diego, which
puts that about 30 miles or so east of LA where I live. My Chiron IC is just
west of me and I'm sandwiched between the two lines. The Pluto Midhaven is
further east. About 50 miles east of Las Vegas.
Seems like a lot of planetary influence in my location, but only lived here a
little less than a year. Any insight?

you may want to make a correction on the neptune conjunct ascendant entry. it
reads, There is a great need for your sympathetic understanding, and you do
not have the right to turn down anyone who extends a hand for help. yes,
there is a great need for neptunian sympathy, but do you really want to
advise neptunian people that they don't have the right to NOT martyr
themselves? let's face it, martyrdom is already built into their temperament.
setting appropriate boundaries and learning when to say no is often a major
life lesson for them, and telling them that they have no right to do so
strikes me as potentially harmful. in the more extreme cases, it's like
telling a pyromaniac, you have a gift for lighting fires, and the world needs
your warmth.
but i also think you're offering a great service for the astrologically
inclined. math never was my strong suit, and your site has saved me untold

Wonderfully generous free site. Except for the inability to adjust for
errors. A birthdate of 7/24/50, 2:23 pm CST. Kansas City, MO, USA, prints up

Your website is great and has been so helpful. However, with my

I would like just the chart of the event as I can interpret it.

Alois adds: Our calculation is of course correct. Both dates have daylight
saving time, and the effective timezone is 5 h west of Greenwich. Your
Ascendant is 29 Leo. If you were born 5 minutes later you would have
Virgo Ascendant.
Keeping the time of the day constant, the Ascendant progresses
about 1 degree per calendar day, less with slow rising signs like Leo, more with
fast rising signs like Pisces. Your daughter has her birthday 9 days after
you, and her Ascendant is 6 Virgo.
The Ascendant is a fact of nature, the degree of the tropical zodiac rising at
the eastern horizon at a given moment and place. There is no space for opinions,
or for majority voting about it. It can only be computed right or wrong.
Astrodienst does this usually right, and we happen to understand what we are doing (see below,
question of Sidereal time).
Excellent site I have ever seen where people are not mislead and gets the

First off, I would like to say that I just love your sight. I find it to be
the best on the web and am constantly refering people to you.
I was just wondering if you might consider adding an option that would just
give a snapshot of the current plantary positons, along with degrees etc.
This would be helpful, as the transits option does not carry the numerical
degrees. One would not have to start a new profile in MY ASTRO everytime the
positons needed to be viewed with out the encumberance of the natal plantes
in the Transits option. I hope im not off base here!! THanks for reading!!
Peace.

Alois adds: I am happy to answer this question in detail.
We cannot explain the incorrect output other websites or so-called 'professionals' are producing.
An astronomical calculation can only be right or wrong. The result can be verified by observation. Our calculations are right, and - contrary to many others who are active in the astrology business - we happen to understand
what we are doing in the field of astronomical computing.
For further reference, please see the Swiss Ephemeris documentation
files.
The topic of sidereal time is addressed in chapter 15 of the Programmer's Reference. There is not much to talk
about it, it is just a complicated algorithm. Here is the source code. For sidereal time, please
scroll to line 1387. As the comment in source file mentions,
the algorithm originates from page B6 of the Astronomical Almanach.
For all calculations of Swiss Ephemeris, we name the scientific sources
either in the documentation files or in comments imbedded in the source code.
You are welcome to look the references up and to verify the correctness of our
implementation.
There are only few astrological programmers now on this planet who do
NOT use Astrodienst's Swiss Ephemeris software tools. Of course, using a good
tool does not guarantee correct software. A power drill in the hands of an
incompetent worker can do a lot of powerful damage. The same is true for
software tools. There are more ways to go wrong than to go right.
So even a software package labeled with 'Swiss Ephemeris inside' can be wrong.
If in doubt, double check with www.astro.com. Then you know.

Sorry to ask this again, but I feel it is important...
I recently purchased both an Astro*Text Forecast and a Transits for the Year
report. An
obvious feature in my chart is a transit of Pluto Conjunct Moon.
The Transits for the Year resport shows this transit as a constant,
continuing feature, having begun in 1996 and will be with me until 2008). On
the other hand, the
Astro*Text Forecast report shows it recurring on and off for a few weeks at a
time over
these years.
I am confused... is this transit a constant concern or an intermittant
one?
Thank you.

Alois adds: You must have misunderstood something, even a Pluto transit
cannot last longer than 2 years. But we use a different computing style
in Transits of the Year and the daily Horoscope on one side, and Astrotext
Forecast on the other side. I will try to explain a little.
Astrotext Forecast considers only when the moving planet is within a 1-degree
orb. When it goes out of orb, the transit ends, and it appears repeated
when the planet goes retrograde and comes into orb again.
The first two reports make a more detailed analysis of the motion pattern,
and consider transit to be active from the first entry into orb up to the
last exit. In the graphics, the times in orb are shown as a solid line and
the times in between as dotted lines. A transit theme is really over only
after the last exit.
Both approaches can be considered valid. Transit cannot be nailed down
so precisely, e.g. the choice of orb would be a subject for endless discussion.
What is really reliable is the date when a transit is exact. The building up
period before and the calming down period after can vary.
My long term tranists are not showing up until April of this year. Whats up?
Thanks Elizabeth

I was interested in your relationship charts and the travel chart showing the
planetary influences in different parts of the world. It would be interesting
to combine this information into a single chart.
That is where should a couple live inorder to live long and prosper? Where on
the planet would a couple be most likely to have a strong and harmonious
relationship, etc.?
If you ever create a chart like this I would be most interested.

with screen resolution to your printer, making the images too large and not
using the much higher resolution the printer is capable of.
There is an easy work-around:
Please choose the largest possible online graphics format for your chart (150%),
then click on the image with the RIGHT mouse button and select 'save image as'.
Save it to your local hard disk under a file name like 'mychart.gif'.
Now start a suitable graphics program on your PC, and open this GIF-file

resolution to your printer, scaled to the size of your paper.

Thank you for your detailed and informed response. Let it be said - I am

even the energy you so obviously invest in
replying to the worthy majority of feedback in the guest book. I also note a
particular innate
ability with the written word, Alois. Your
dry wit is among the more amusing reading on
this propoganda machine known as the Internet.
Back to your words regarding solar/lunar eclipses. I have an understanding of
the solar eclipse rating alongside a visitation by a comet as a sign of
catastrophe or immense change, as per the Ancient Understandings. Is there a
general astrological effect that can be applied
to the occurance of a lunar eclipse, and solar
eclipse respectively? Ie - When Mars is in X aspect with Venus, X occurs.
When Uranus turns Retrograde and aspects natal Sun in sextile X will happen.
When a solar eclipse occurs, X will happen. Lunar eclipse, X ...etcetera.
Thanks for your time. Hope my writing doesn't come across
too long winded! Ta.

Perhaps you should add a disclaimer, making it clear that astrology most
certainly is not a science (as you falsely claim) and has never been shown to
be anything but the ancient vague guessing game that it is. The glaring
innaccuracies in my own personal chart were most likely brought on by the
incorrect listed location of the planets at the time of my birth. Scientific
illiteracy is not something you take advantage of for personal gain.
Stan (visiting www.astro.com)
--- Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 17:56 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: There are many possible definitions of science; on is 'a body
of organized human knowledge and practice of extending that knowledge'.
Astrology qualifies certainly as a body of human knowledge,
though you may be too narrow-minded and caged in to a mechanistic world view
to see that.
You express doubts about our qualification in computing correct
planetary positions. I recommend that you study the Swiss Ephemeris
documentation on our website. We happen to know a bit about ephemeris
calculation. You apparently don't even understand the coordinate systems
involved.
I just wanted to thank you Liz and co. for your awesome web-site and
extensive knowledge. It's obvious you enjoy sharing your thoughts and
knowledge with others as you don't find many other sites on the net as
intricate and as useful, especially to students studying Astrology such as
myself, unless they can make some money (which is what we all need to do in
some form anyway I guess.
I have found it extremely generous and insightful though and wanted to
express my gratitude to you. With people like you and those that learn from
you, hopefully we can give something to others out there, a greater
understanding of ourselves and others and what a world or more appropriately
what a universe we live in and how to make the most of it. thanks again. M.

Hello there. Several weeks ago I was advised at the top of the entry for
Personal Daily
Horoscope that a Solar Eclipse was forecast for

Could you please explain the meanings of these
letters, respectively? Thanks for your time, and

--- Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 23:17 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: The other way around, the 'u' was with the Lunar eclipse which
was just a 'penumbra' eclipse, i.e. the Moon entered the half-shadow cone
of the earth but not the core shadow. It is hard to notice such an eclipse.
Other Lunar eclipses can be total (t) or partial (p). I chose the 'u' for
umbra, the latin word for shadow. For further information, please type
'penumbra eclipse' into google.com
The Sun can have total (t), partial (p) or annular (a) eclipses. An annular
eclipse is a ring-formed eclipse: When the Moon is too far away, its disk
is too small to cover the solar disk. At the peak time of the eclipse,
a ring of the Sun's disk is still visible.
Those astrologers who work with eclipses do not pay much attention to
the visible quality of it; they also do not consider whether someone is
on the path of visibility of a solar eclipse or far away from it. All they
are interested in is whether an eclipse happened or not.
As a personal experience a total Solar eclipse is a significant event,
and worth the trip to see it. Do not bother with partial or annular ones.

I do not understand your problem regarding your birth town. When you just

If you select 'District of Columbia' in

You can also play around. Preselect 'District of Columbia' as 'country' and
enter just a 'w' in the birth town field. This gives you all locations in DC
