I just got around to reading Greene's article on Chiron Wounding and the Will to LIve and I thought it would be timely to remark that it was quite literally the discovery of Greene's books on Saturn and Pluto back in the 70s that gave me the will to live. And live WELL I might add, whereas every other member of my immediate family chose another way out of the darkness. Go Liz Greene!!!!!!!

I thought I had previously been able to do midpoint trees somewhere in your free charts section, but now can't seem to. Am I just not looking in the right place, or am I mistaken in thinking that midpoint trees were an option?

The ongoing updates to the site are much appreciated. It is nice to see the extension of features especially the additonal articles on more in-depth issues. I see the development team is hard at work and this phase of your implementation has been seamless so I congratulate you on a job well done. Onward to the clean-up tasks which I am predicting you will be undertaking. The communication of the change is a little on the light side. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with my browser cookies or a system change or whether I had crossed some invisible usage demarcation which resulted in a registration request. I am susceptible to a little Neptunian haze and had a hard time remembering the email address I had used ... Is there a cookie with this info readable on our local pc's for our similarly afflicted friends? Perhaps a note that this is a system change and what email address is required to retrieve data could be included in the new screen. ps. Alois your comments on CAPS are quite humourous, some folks may not know that CAPS are considered yelling in e-mail speak... I know I didn't until someone pointed it out to me ( I thought I was just making things easy to read!). As an old cobol dinosaur I certainly didn't attribute a special meaning to them! Kind regards

All that has changed is the VISUAL APPEARANCE of the 'my astro' page, and the wording of some elements, e.g. 'profile' for 'account'. If you have forgotten under which email address you have registered, and if you have deleted or refused your cookie, there is no way we can help you to find your data again. Most people will do the sensible thing and register under their REAL email address, and usually they do not forget that one. If they forget the password, which is a common situation, they can always have it mailed to their real email address in that case. If you register under a fake email address which you have trouble to remember and under which you cannot receive any email, you may have a self-created problem. You might be wiser next time. could you please tell me if charts that i had at astro.com before i registered are unavailable(i've e-mailed you before about this without realizing that i was supposed to ask my question here. my apologies). it's upsetting because i had data here that just vanished. for over a year i had charts here and just assumed that they would remain and now they are gone and they were taken away without notice. please take a moment to let me know whether or not there is anyway that you can retrieve these charts for me and what information that you need from me to find them. the data that i had to draw the charts is no longer available to me so it would mean alot to me if they are still here. thank you, Kim

If you had a guest account with data and then registered, your data will have been preserved. If you were not in that guest account at that time, and you have no bookmark for it, access to the old guest account data will be lost permanently. The data are still there but if you did not keep a bookmark and lost the cookie, or refused it, there is no way to access them. There are over 3 million natal records on the server, in 1.6 million accounts, and we cannot go looking for your data. If you have a registered account, you can always access it and will never lose data. For an anonymous guest account, that cannot be guaranteed from our end. Because the maximum number of natal data in such an anonymous account is only 4, the loss cannot be that great. Thank you so much for having added the alphabetical order list of names. When I asked the question a few months ago, it was not yet available. May I once again request your assistance. In the Natal, Progressions, Solar Arcs chart, there are three types of angles mentioned: Sol, SA and Pr. Would you be kind enough to explain what the first one, sol refers to ? Hallo Leute, ich finde euren persönlichenHoroskop Kalender ganz nützlich. Manchmal sind die Beschreibungen für bestimmte Aspekte nicht leicht zu finden, vielleicht könnt ihr das über den Abstand im Index etwas erleichtern. Schwieriger ist, einen Transit zu finden, den euer Programm offensichtlich übersehen hat. In meinem as26028.62-1 kalender ist für den 22. 12. 2001 z. B. kein Mond Sextil Uranus vermerkt (müsste um 11:43 stattgefunden haben). Der ist laut Index auch nirgendwo zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt erwähnt. Es kann nicht daran liegen, das r. Hand ihn nicht beschrieben hätte. In seinem Planets in Transit ist er auf Seite 118 beschrieben. Wenn ich mir das durchlese scheint es durchaus einer der hilfreichen Aspekte zu sein. Ich habe mir ein Duplikat Ihres Kalenders angesehen, dort ist am 22.12 der Transit Mond Sextil Uranus in der Liste vermerkt. Ebenso im Online Tageshoroskop, das Sie mit hnx=-5 in der URL auch heute noch für den 22.12. abrufen können. Die Deutung von Mond Sextil Uranus ist im ausgedruckten Kalender nicht vorhanden, da es maximal 365 verschiedene Deutungsbausteine in einem Jahr gibt und Mond Sextil Uranus (das jährlich mindestens 24 mal vorkommt) es an keinem Tag zum "Tagessieger" geschafft hat. Ein Mond-Sextil ist nun mal kein wichtiger Transit. Der Kalender ist kein Lehrbuch, in dem ALLE Transite gedeutet sind, das ist auch nicht sein Zweck. Insofern finde ich Ihre Kritik nicht ganz angebracht. Online ist die Deutung zugänglich, da wir dort keine Platzbeschränkungen wie im gedruckten Kalender zu beachten brauchen. seasons greetings and thank you for your site. it has been such a joy to visit over this past year and to receive your emails. but i am curious as to why certain aspects have vanished from the transit list - major ones at that - pluto conjunct sun for example were there and are no longer. why has this happened when the transit will be around for so long? not a complaint, as what you offer to the very wide community is vast, but an observation and query. glynis

I love astrodienst. I use it daily and rely on it for all my astrology related work. I usually use tighter orbs than most astrologers and am having trouble reducing the orbs. If anyone has a suggestion I would be most appreciative(I already type 99% in the reduce the orb box and it doesn't seem to make much difference). I usually use Quinta Essentia or Xylander or Astrodienst style, with Placidus House System. Thank you, Steven

In the field for orb reduction you have to enter a SMALL number, e.g. 10 if you only want 10% of the regular orb. It has a HUGE effect. The value means 'reduce to x%', not 'reduce by x%'. Hi, I've looked around your great site but I couldn't find anything worth while about LILLITH. - Isn't there anything (like the excellent article about Chiron) about L. or was I just unable to find it? Forgive me my ignorance but how there can be: Moon Sextile Moon exact at 10:30 activity period from 24 December 2001 to 25 December 2001. There are multiple cases of similar relationships listed in daily horoscopes. Is this a mistake, or is it how it should be?

I am currently on your free daily horoscope list, and I do want it to continue, I also (maybe) want to know something of the year to come. My hesitation to ask for it, has this reason, very real to me: I know very little about astrology, but have liked to think it great fun and a bit interesting. Last year I found my interest turning into a bit of a compulsion, i.e. my old enemy, my hypocondriac alter ego, read the horoscopes all too interested, and projecting all kinds of scares into them, making me ill. This obviously is no cpncern of yours. But I want to ask one, perhaps childish question: Are horoscopes warnings,only? That is, if warned, can one escape health threats etc by taking measures against it? Is that the point of astrology, than one can decide wether to act uopn it or not? Or is it my fate,so to speak, that you're laying on the line? I find I turn first thing in the morning to my daily horoscope from you, a bit too eagerly for a neurotic person...any advice om such matters? I recently purchased both an Astro*Forecast and a Transits for the Year report. An obvious feature in my chart is a not so wonderful transit of Pluto Conjunct Moon. The Transits for the Year resport shows this transit as a constant, continuing feature (in fact, it began in 1996 and will be with me until 2008). On the other hand, the Astro*Forecast report shows it recurring on and off for a few weeks at a time over these years. I am confused... is this transit a constant concern or an intermittant one? Hello, I am iteeted in getting some in dept wor de, but have a problem I need to reslove firt. Charts automaically put me into daylight savings time 8/7/53 Lynn, Massachusetes US 9:04 AM. My problem is that this always gives me a Virgo ascendant and I believe that all signs in my personal research oint to a LIbra ascendant, which would be in effect wthou the change to daylight savings time. Is that not a man made time change, and should it not be in effect? I need to resolve this, as it is consistently making certain things appear extremely inaccurate in previous charts I ave doe. I think I have seen here more accuracies and more helpful information than anywhere else, and would like to do some deeper work if we could figure this out first. Their sons and daughters have to live their lives according to these terrible facts as well. One reason more to take Chiron into account more seriously when analyzing the transits... But, after reading the essay, it remains the open question if there's really something to do against it, if we are 'marked' from the time of our birth with such a weight to have to be carried upon our shoulders and have to face the music for something we don't even know directly. link for 'Sudden separations' it says: Because it involves the Ascendant, which is highly dependent on the birth time, the duration may easily shift. If you were born 5 minutes later, this transit would shift by a few months. If your birth time is uncertain by 15 minutes, the change in timing for this transit might even be a year. If there is an actual separation experience, you might use it - as painful as it might be - to adjust your birth time by the actual timing of the eparation. The proecure would be: look in the ephemeris where Uranus is at the time of the essential separation event. Then adjust your birth time in such a way that the Ascendant is at the same degree and minute of arc. You just need to play around a bit ih the birth time in 1-minute steps, using the chart drawing page to see how the Ascendant changes.

The good things are easy to handle it's the difficult aspects that we need help with. At any rate it is really a matter of attitude and how you personally intepret the comments. Like now I have a Uranus aspect and I surprise myself at being so forceful at speaking my mind. It may appear unpleasant to others but finally.... I am being more truthful. It shocks most of the people around me but so be it, this is what is going on at this moment in time. I have a conjunction with Sun/Saturn so discipline is no stranger to me. From as far as I can remember I had two children for parents. I often found myself reasoning with them to keep piece. (moon in Libra) and on it goes. I am not about to reveal my whole person but I hope some of the younger people understand that this is the way we grow (with the difficult aspects). And once they are over we feel stronger.

Service interruptionIn the night from 5 to 6 December, at 00:30 Universal time, a critical network component (3Com superstack III switch) in our server 'farm' went dead. The web servers could not talk to the Internet anymore. Our emergency server jumped in and announced to all visitors that our system was under maintenance.I noticed the situation in the morning at 6:15 UT; in the course of the morning I drove to the server room of our colocation provider to find out what the problem was. Then it took a few hours until a replacement switch was located and installed. Astro.com was back online at 11:15 UT. We have an excellent track record, with less than 1% total downtime so far. Most machines in the server farm have been online since 179 days since the last reboot, thanks to the quality of free Linux software and a completely Microsoft-free operation. I hope to be able to keep this up. I am sorry for the inconvenience this hardware failure has caused for some of our patrons. Alois

Most really important transits (those of the outer planets, those through the houses) have an extended duration of several weeks or months. In addition, there are the transits of the inner fast moving planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus), which have typically a duration of two days, and the transits of the Moon, which last a few hours and are the least important ones. On most days, several transits occur, and in the background there are some long-lasting ones going on. Each page of the calendar and of the online daily horoscope lists all transits which are exact on that date, and it lists up to three of the long-lasting ones which are going on in the background. Only one of these transits is selected every day as a reading; the readings of the others are accessible via links in the online edition, or via the index pages in the printed version. The printed version also has an overview page for the long-lasting transits of the whole 12-month period for which the calendar was ordered. The selection of the daily interpretation is not a trivial matter. It would not work to use the rule "select the most important transit". The most important one would often be a long-lasting transit, and if this simple rules was applied, many days would receive the same reading. Our rules of selection try to select the most important one on any given day, but once it is selected for a particular day, it will not be selected for another date, even when it would also win the 'importance competition' on that date. The process is a complex balancing for a full 12 month period, the goal is to create an interesting variation of themes for an extended period. Because the non-selected alternative readings are accessible on any date via navigation, this procedure is justified; it gives also secondary factors a chance to be presented. Now to your question: You had ordered the calendar for the period from Dec 1, 2001 to November 30, 2002. Our software considered this period of 365 days and created a distribution of readings for these 365 days which is balanced in such a way to give both, a minimal number of repetitions and an optimal selection of important themes for each day. When you click the online daily horoscope, the software on our server does the same, but it always considers the calendar year. It behaves as if the calendar for a full calendar year, from January 1 to December 31 was requested. It makes an assignment of readings for 365 days, and then shows the single day for which you had clicked. Because our computers are fast and the programming tricky, all this happens within a fraction of a second. The difference in your case arises from the different overall periods, for which the balancing of the readings was created. In the printed edition, Dec 1, 2001 to Nov. 30 2002, in the online version Jan 1, 2001 to Dec 31, 2001. The different period resulted in a different balanced selection. If you look at the deatils of each date, the complete list of transits, there will be no difference. Only in the selection for reading there will be some differences. The differences are most pronounced near the edges of the selection period. You calendar started only a few days ago. Different selection are rarer in areas of the 12 month period which are not as close to the edges. Thank you for such a consistently quality site. I sometimes find it hard to believe the immense level of altruism you at AstroDienst show, by freely sharing your knowledge. And it looks like I've missed out on the competition! I truely cannot afford to purchase a psychological profile, despite my coveting! I did in fact offer a non-moneatary (?) exchange for a chart, via email with your sales rep. After studying your computer output horoscope I was more convinced that it was a poor way on interpretation as computer horoscope allways is. It never competes with an professional astrologer. You pay very little and get what you paid for. Computer horoscopes should never be taken seriously.
