Dear Alois,
Thanks for this wonderful site. A friend of mine was under the impression
that Astrocartography maps were available on this site - of the type, I
believe, Jim Lewis does. I cannot find this option anywhere on your site,
but maybe I have overlooked it.
On your 'external links' Jim Lewis is mentioned, but when I click on him, a
message comes up that this URL cannot be found.
all the best,

When using the daily horoscope, would it be more accurate to use the adjusted
time of birth to the current place of residence, along with the current city
and state? --or, is it always necessary to use your birth information (birth
time, birth city, etc.) - no matter where you move to, and currently reside?
--in order to get the most accurate picture/predictions for that day and the
weeks ahead.

'Minimal importance of reference place' on the page which appears.
It will make clear why the birth place must be used.
Hi, and thanks for a very resourceful site. My only problem is that I can't
get the right house-system in a reading, only in a chart-drawing. Could you
please, please make house-systems optional in the reading? Please?

Alois adds: I have answered this question a few times. When you consult
an astrologer for a reading, you should accept that the astrologer makes
the choices of technique by which he/she reads a chart.
This is why we do not offer technical choices when it comes to readings.
Behind our computerized readings there are also astrologers which have
authority in regard to the techniques they use and they want to see applied
with their reading content.
If you are so knowledgable in astrology that you know that your choices
of technique are 'right' and ours are 'wrong', you should be able to do
your readings by yourself. For this purpose, we offer a wide range of
computational techniques with many choices, so that your technical
requirements should be met.
We do respect your decision to use different systems, and we are happy to
provide correct calculations for most such systems.
Dear Alois,
I enjoy very much reading your answers in the feedback pages. Besides having
good time, I also learn much from your wise and humble ways. And if you need
it of course, I would like to be of a help in translations from English to
Spanish as a voluntary job.
From the bottom of my heart , I greatful for the guidance of this great
page.
Que florezcan rosas sobre su camino

In regard to the readings on our site, please read them more carefully.
They are often mixtures of pleasant and difficult things, and you should NOT
ignore the good things by locking in to the difficult aspects.
Thank you for adding the astroTravel maps. Now I understand why I have such

What method do you use to calculate a progressed chart? I ask this because I
understand the concept of a secondary progression calculation and resulting
positions for the planets. However, if you want to use your site to
calculate the chart option that says: Natal, transits, and progressions
combined I get confused. The transit date is always going to be the present
date. When you have the progressed chart WITH the transit positions along
with the natal positions on a wheel, how can the start date for both the
progressed and transit positions be the same!!!!???? By using the secondary
progression technique, if the start date is the same as the transit start
date, the native would be centuries old, wouldn't they??? Can you clarify or
clear this up for me, please?

At this time, Astrodienst has a policy of not
untertaking formal link exchange agreements. If we provide links, we do so
out of our own choice and without any exchange obligation. Many websites choose
to provide a unilateral link to us because they want to give their users
access to our excellent services. We do welcome this.
Our site
promotion policy is a bit unusual. Promotion is provided by enthousiastic word of mouth, from hundreds of
thousands of satisfied users (500'000 distinct users in the last 4 months),
based on the quality of what we offer. This applies to both, our free services
and our reports which are paid for. We are working very hard to continue
on this path of service. It is not selfless, despite the fact that
Astrodienst is led by a pair of Pisces, but it is generous and great fun for
those who provide it. Stay tuned to this station.

I want to know what , my real ascendent and solar and lunar sign are.
i was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, at 4 am, and i havent got an agreement

a leo or a taurus in the mix.

There is one other thing I forgot to ask...If two people have their Sun's

good? My guess is it would be very, very intense...and very, very good. Like

I agree with you, Alois, about meeting people who's Sun conjuncts 'your' Sun
degree..or sign. Sometimes one can really tune into the other person very
clearly, not by choice..it is just there.
Why be scared of major transits? It is life's cycles...one phase
ends..another begins. I liked the later feedback about the Venus/Uranus bit
from the lady from Italy?...I disagree with you, I DON'T give the marriage
much longer...too much air, not enough water......

Hi. Just had your basic brainstorm that I hope is worth sharing. One of the
ongoing mysteries about astrology, even for some 'professionals' I've met, is
how best and most truly to integrate all the information one might gleen from
whatever one is 'reading,' be it a natal chart, a progressed one, etc. Many
times the aspects within a given 'daily horoscope' or even natal horoscope
(etc.) may suggest just the opposite, which if nothing else, can remind us
how complex we can be. Here's the point. Few people are able to read this
complexity with the kind of true-to-the person/event perspective that cuts
closest to home.
Today I had an imaginative glimpse of a grid-like table in which certain
colors were assigned to degrees of, say, import or strength. Say you've got
a weak couple of planets in strong aspect saying A and a couple of stronger
planets aspecting with the message not-A and maybe another aspect or two
actually to support one way or the other, A or not-A, and so forth. All the
native planets, their allotted numbers within a given sign or house, their
relationship in general, their relationship within also larger/other
contexts, such as transiting or progressed, etc. can be assigned numeric
values, which eventually can be translated into a color chart that can offer
even a very fine perspective of all of it taken together. You can even have
the blue-green harmonic ones in contrast to the red-yellow dynamic of more
demanding aspects. But it could indeed be laid out in a highly elegant map
that could be read even by us amateurs.
Whaddaya think!
All the best,

Alois adds: I wonder whether you are aware of an important rule:
Successful creative work consists of 1% inspiration and 99% transpiration.
You need to try your idea out on paper, with at least
10 different charts, and then pass on these graphs to other amateurs which
confirm that it is highly elegant and easy to read. This is
the first step before you ask anyone to give support to your idea: prove
that it works.
To have 'imaginative glimpses' is comparatively easy,
to do real work is hard. To convert an idea like yours into a computer program
involves REAL work of hundreds of hours by a skilled programmer.
I feel that Liz Greene and most of the Astrologists related to this website
are brilliant pioneers and visionaries that are paving new and inspirational
ways for us all to look into ourselves.
Liz Greene in particular, and several of her publications have guided me
tremendously in my efforts toward self-healing and spiritual growth. I do
not believe any other therapist OR psychic (and I have been to many) has
touched me as deeply.
I think more of us need to see that Astrology is not just a way to analyze
and manipulate our external world. It is more importantly a important tool
in psychological and spiritual evolution it is a valuable map that we can use
to guide us in our efforts to heal our baggage, face our demons, and face our
own natures as we survive and take life day by day. It has been the most
priceless self-help and healing tool I have found in my search for
support.
Beacause of this I want to thank all the Psychological Astrologers for their
continued dedication to the field. Your work has inspired me beyond the
description of words.

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. Regarding your question: the simple
answer would be that the probability is 1/360, i.e. of 360 people you
meet one will have the same Ascendant degree.
However, this is only true in the average. Depending on where you are born,
some parts of the zodiac rise much faster, other much slower, so that the
statistical probability varies considerably. In your case, Char, about 1 of 300
will have the same Ascendant degree.
I have the experience that one is often attracted to people
which share the same degree of Ascendant (or of the Sun's position) and
tends to meet more of those than pure probability would predict.

you have in your account, so you then can select the same type of chart

square Venus can mean all kinds of things - maybe having sex in a telephone

Beglueckt faellst Du in Traeume, die Zeit steht still - wird Ewigkeit,

My friend says that Pluto through the seventh house can be absolutely brutal
on one's one-to- one relationships. She says it can be especially troubling
if it hits personal planets. To top it all off..she says that if transiting
Saturn and Uranus are also involved things could get very, very tricky. Have

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. I agree, this is what the Internet
is here for in my opinion too and I enjoy it to provide this kind of
service. We could use help in translating the text for the 'short reports'
from English into Dutch, and also for AstroClick Travel from German into
Dutch. You should be familiar with astrological terminology in Dutch, to
the extent to which it is used in these reports/services.
Also for other languages (Danish, Italian, Spanish) such voluntary help
will be very welcome, from native speakers of the target language.
All of this is material which
is not used for reports which we sell, only for free reports and free
services. Therefore we would not be unhappy to accept help from volunteers
for these translations. For translations which we need for our paid
reports, we of course pay the translators too.
I have a question about the AstroClick Travel map. How do I correctly

The astroclick in love or the new service I was invited to comment about is
of no surprise for me. As an astrologer, I thought I could anticipate every
word. Or perhaps I already read the formulas or the author's somewhere else.
But I can assure this service must be fun for the newcomer. If an individual
has already read similar descriptions, he might stay on his appetite. It
could be an effiecient tool to sell a more detailed and personnalised
service.
But these fragmented descriptions are annoying for an astrologer who always
aims for synthesis.

To Robert Pelletier:
Did a friend's chart using this system and read Personal Portrait prepared by
your programme which is compassioante and astute. I was dismayed by your
statement that the sign of Scorpio was ruled by the planet Mars. This type
of astrology has not been practiced by most astrologers since the 1950's.
This seems a little retrograde don't you think? Astrology has evolved over
time from when there were only 6 generally known planets. The discovery of
the three outer, generational planets, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto, brought
about changes in the distribution of the planets ruling the signs. Pluto is
a planet. Its status was not downgraded to asteroid as was recently
recommended by an astronomical association. Mars was once the official ruler
of Scorpio, and is still referred to as the traditional ruler, the secondary
ruler, the honarary ruler, even the co-ruler of the sign of Scorpio. however
the myths and stories associated with the planet of Pluto, the planet of
Death and Regenration, seem to me to be much more closely linked to those of
the sign
Scorpio than Those of Mars, the planet. Mars is the ruler of the head which
houses the brain, the seat of the intellect. Scorpio is the ruler of the
genitals. What is more Death and Regeneration than Sex and Death? Pluto was
discovered just about the time that nuclear power, a most destructive force,
was being theorised and developped and did culminate in its destructive use.
Several decades later AIDS, a terrible disease associated by many with sex,
becomes a concern. If you don't use Pluto, then where do you put it? Why
continue to perpetuate this outmoded way of thinking? It causes confusion
when trying to have a conversation about astrology with a neophyte in this
field when they continue to hear that Mars continues to be the ruler of
Scorpio in some astologers' systems. Some people simply accept the first
thing they read about something to be absolute truth and never bother to
verify it nor if they hear of anything different than what they originally
heard it's very difficult for these people to think differently. So, really
why perpetuate this bit of misinformation?
Armez (visiting www.astro.com)
Vancouver, Canada --- Thursday, February 15, 2001 at 03:22 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: Astrological teaching is not a uniform and standardized body of
knowledge. While dual rulership by Mars and Pluto over Scorpio is accepted
by many astrologers, it is the right of any author to have and express
personal preferences. You cannot read from the text that Robert Pelletier
is excluding Pluto, it only indicates that he considers Mars as the
primary ruler. I dislike any campaings for 'political correctness', and
yours does sound like one of those. Please try to tolerate that people have
views which differ from yours?

2. That makes normal time in uenos aires 12.00 noon, Because August is spring

3. The above means that in 1947 there was 2 hour difference between these

Two hours difference does not seem to be correct considering that the

sehr geschickt an. Weiters habe ich noch zwei
Fragen:

How can I know if there was a summer time a long ago in a country e.g. 50 or

Is there a way to look at the meaning of a specific aspect that has occurred

I just found your site. It is great. Thankyou.
For years before I got into astrology I wondered why one place a short
distance away (Re-location astrology) can have such a different atmosphere.
Even turning around to face the four directions (north, south, east, west) can
produce completely different feelings. I think this Astrodienst site is
great. But what about authorities. I have been trying for years to get back
to Australia or America with authorities blocking me. My Indian astrologer

In my personal daily horoscope, it read:
This influence arouses a strong attraction to and desire for the opposite
sex.
I am curious as to the motivation for the words 'opposite sex.' Is it based
on the assumption that any time a person has desire, it is for the opposite
sex? I'm gay, so this is not too likely a desire for me to have. I've run
into this kind of statement before in other horoscopes. It's irritating! But
I'm more interested in knowing whether there's some kind of planetary aspect
going on that lends ease to relations between the sexes on a given day. I can
understand that. Or, is it that there's a planetary aspect making me feel
particularly passionate, etc. today? If the latter, then I would recommend
taking gender specific references out of such statements. Just a suggestion.

My daily horoscope description of a Neptune trine Mercury aspect indicates
the time of influence beginning in 2000 and continuing into 2002. The same
aspect when I click on my Forecast indicates activity for a month or two in
2001. I'm assuming this disparity exists because the term time of influence
allows for lead-in and lead-out time. Can you confirm? Thanks. Love your

Alois adds: Many transits of the slow out planets occur three or five
times, due to the fact that the planet becomes retrograde and crosses over
the natal constellation more than once.
The daily horoscope - an extract
of the Personal Horoscope Calendar product - has more built-in intelligence:
it considers a longer time range and combines these repeating transits into
one long-term theme. The 'Short Report Forecast' is an extract from the
low-cost 'Astrotext Forecast' and has less built-in intelligence. It
considers each crossing separately and does not consider that it happens
several times in a row; it simply repeats the reading for the other crossing
periods.

Alois adds: We certainly respect your feelings, and I have answered this
question several times (see archive Match 6 2000). I repeat my comment here:
For our printed reports we usually have on option
to indicate a same-sex partner preference, that makes all partner
references come out the desired way.
However, we do not ask customers or web visitors about their sexual
preferences, as it would be a severe intrusion into their privacy.
There would be a public outcry by thousands of American bigots if we
dared to ask them about their sexual preferences. We get already attacked
for the supposedly pornographic images in the daily horoscope..
By default, we assume heterosexual preference which is correct for more
than 90% of the population.
The daily horoscope has few partner references anyway, and we think that
most visitors can make the necessary translation.
If you ever order a report, please add a comment that you prefer
the 's=hom' optional switch. For the relationship horoscope
of course this is not necessary as the sex of both persons is known
from the natal data.
AstroClick Love is the worst, because it is full of sexual references, and
most openly heterosexual.
We might consider to add a clickable option there to allow a homosexual
wording. It is not as easy to implement as you might think.
In AstroClick Partner we know the sex of both persons, and there should
be no problem of that kind. If you detect an expression there which is
biased towards a heterosexual model, please let us know and we will fix it.
Clearly still the best and still free. I (and perhaps others) would be glad
to donate to keep it free for all.
On Astro-click. Nice program. Completely unconvincing. I have tried only
one relationship pair and found the interpretations far from the mark. I can
go into details if you wish. But then, I have never believed much in
Composite charts, even when I work them out of Hand's book. I find
comparisons much more helpful.

have seen on astrology. it is reasonably accurate, user-friendly and
sometimes scaringly true.
my commendations to the designers and the engineers behind this.
i am going to recommend this site to a number of my firends and of course
also to my family.
congratulations!!!!

I've never really believed in horoscopes or things of that nature, I do
however enjoy reading your daily free horoscopes. I find them interesting.
What I also found interesting is how you decribed my signs and in detail
described my personality. Obviously there were a couple of things that you
said that I wouldn't agree on, but I'm not to argue considering that you were
pretty spot on....
And also thank you for all the time and effort that you obviously put into
this web site. A job well done....

I entered the wrong data when giving my info for a natal chart. Now everytime
I come back I get the wrong chart. How do I go about changing it?
Thanks,
Malvina

Looks like a good try but I had problems with the data entry. As an
Astrologer myself I wanted to check you out! With Liz Greene and Robert Hand
you have two of the best, they deserve a matching technical standard. Hope you
can sort it out. Maybe iCab browser is the problem anyway.

Alois adds: Get Netscape 4 or higher. Don't waste time with an obscure
incompatible browser.
Friend in Toronto told me about this site and have enjoyed its offerings.
Just wanted to say thanks. I'm somewhat familiar with astrology and reading
charts, understanding various planetary configurations. The short analysis
offered some very different insigts than other interpretations have given.
Very insightful. Thanks.

Alois adds: Berlin is not a point target, it is a big city. Keep in mind
that one arc-minute of longitude is about 1 km, one arc minute of latitude
is about 2 km. If you have an uncertainity of plus/minus one time-minute
in the birth time, you can have an uncertainity of 15 arc-minutes in
the location. It does not really matter which point in the area called
Berlin you take, except when the birth time is know with a precision
of seconds. This is VERY RARELY the case, kid's don't get born in a second.
SUPER!!!!!

This site means so much to me! Thanks!! I have a question: Can I find on
this site planetary parallels in a chart? Anyway to find the east point? If
not here, can you refer me or tell me how?
Thanks again.
