I've visited your site numerous times and in particular I have tried to
view your transit graphs which are indecipherable. On printing out the
report you cannot decipher what the signs or planets are covering the graph.
You can get the gist of what a couple represent but that's about it. I think
you need to improve this if it is to be worthwhile to the person trying to
read it. Otherwise you provide a great service. Rosemary Mallia (Virgo)

Alois adds: When you can see details on the screen but not when printed,
the problem is your browser or your printer driver, not the graphics.
Have you tried the 150% oversize image? It is legible even for the near-blind.
I was born October 31 1947, seems as if I'm going through some sort of
metamorphose regarding possible career changes, and relocation. Can you give
me any feedback on this, time of birth 3:15pm. Berkeley, CA.

Alois adds: How do you think anything can be checked without data? By magic?
We do not know about 'normally', only about 'correct'.
Probably you had your chart
done by someone who is normally not very correct,
or by someone who does Hindu astrology and uses a different zodiac.
Please ask them to explain why their result differ. After millions of charts
on our site, the one has yet to come which shows our calculation to be false.
question: a friend is visiting from germany. she wants to do a
"relocation chart"...that is, she was born in munich, germany but wants to
understand her chart from the perspective of now being in portland, or. on
the information form, do we list "town" as the town she is now in (portland)
and the "birthtown" as munich? or how do we do this?

I ordered four of your reports (to the tune of $193 US) and was not
very-especially the daily report which only focused on one aspect a day.
There is no synchronization of all the aspects in relation to the natal
chart. I could have visited the website every day had I known what I would be
getting. When one pays, more is expected. This limited view is not helpful at
all. One aspect, especially one short-term aspect, while others are
simultaneously occurring, cannot give one an accurate outlook. At the same
time, the psychological horoscope seemed to focus on long-term aspects alone.
I was hoping for clarification. Instead, I only got regurgitated info from
Robert Hands' books which I read and reference frequently. It's easy to read
separate passages from a book like Hand's. What's not so easy is to
synchronize and combine this information. I hoped that you would provide
that type of information and I wanted a balanced reading that took both
negative and positive aspects into consideration. What you provided is not
worth the cost.

Alois adds: We have on our web server in the 'samples' area complete samples
of the printed reports as they are delivered to a customer. We withhold no
information about what a customer can expect to receive, and I do not think
there is any misleading information to be found on our site or in our
printed material.
The Yearly Horoscope Analysis by Liz Greene would have been a more
synthesized report covering a period of 12 months; it is a very different
product from the Calendar which you ordered.
The printed calendar with its spiral binding does indeed contain the same
information as the online horoscope. But it is much more useful and
convenient to handle than accessing the website daily. You can also
read the New York Times for free on the nyt website; why do people bother
to subscribe to the newspaper? The same reasons apply to why people
love to order a printed calendar which they can carry around, look forward
into future days and months or backward, make notes, etc.
At a price of 59.95 USD for 366 days, the cost per day is 16 cents. This is
not expensive for a good personal daily horoscope reading. Your time, which
you spend with it, is certainly more valuable. The time and money you can
save by having this information at your fingertips, for a whole year, is
also much more valuable.

I was so excited to see the lunar fertility charts based on Dr Jonas method.
I had a book called Astrological Birth Control in the '70's that described Dr
Jonas' method. And it works! I postponed my second child and then had a
girl within a day of my calculations using this method. My ob/gyn was off by
a week. I was even able to correctly predict the sex of my friends' babies
using this method several times. Then I loaned the book out and never saw it
again. Familiar story.
Thank you for making the Jonas method available again and with excellent
charts to work with. Now I can teach it to my daughters.

Hello! I am a great fan of Astrodienst, and so appreciate your services!
I do have a question regarding the daily personal reports and the natal
transit charts. They seem to be out-of-synch with each other, or at least
with regard to my charts and locations.
For instance, the daily personal report states the transit moon will enter my
partner's 7th house today, at Monday, 8/28/00, at 02:55 CST; however, the
natal transit chart for today shows the moon to be at approximately ten
degrees Leo, in his sixth house?
I have noticed these inconsistencies for some time now, and was wondering if
there was a way to reconcile the daily personal reports with the natal
charts? Also, do you offer a chart format that strictly gives transiting
planets positions (degrees) so that I may compare them with my natal charts?
Again, thank you so much for your service, Astrodienst has become an
important part of my daily life!
Best wishes,
Michelle
Michelle [ nospamhotmail.com ]
Lawrence, KS, USA --- Monday, August 28, 2000 at 15:52 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: The natal chart with transits is computed for midnight Universal
time; depending on where you are, this can be up to 36 hours away from
a moment of time on the same date in another timezone. In 36 hours the Moon
can travel more than 20 degrees.
To check for what you believe to be inconsitencies, please use a
synastry chart drawing. Use your own data for person 1, and the date and
time given in the daily horoscope as 'partner data'.
The synastry chart drawing will then show you how the two charts stand
in relation to each other, and what aspects between them are formed.
This way you have precise control over the timing of the transit chart.
Vielen Dank für die kostenlos bereitgestellten Horoskope!

I was a little taken back as I read your Horoscope about me as I just logged
in for to have a look. From a religious point of view, I beleive that my
faith teaches me things like what I read with respect to my daily horoscope
and more are not true or to be beleived in.
I am a little bit amazed as what I read was like as if someone knew more
about me than I did myself and I know it is relatively accurate as that is
basically what I am like as what the horoscope actually stated. I probably
will come back and look some more, but I must admit I have to be careful and
reserve my opinnion as I beleive earnestly in God and I probably would thread
carefully.
Very enlightening I must say.

In the short edition, only a

Being born on 22nd of August I noted you've omitted both Ray Bradbury

Here is an idea: can you add on a service that draws today's chart then

However, in the birth data entry area for the free chart, I couldn't put in

"Laporte, TX" or "Laporte, OH." There IS a LaPorte, IN, and you may want to

Dear Alois/Dieter, Thank you for your website. I'm looking to read an
ephemeris file(s) that contains data broken down by
heliocentric/geocentric/longitude/latitude|declination groups to determine
synodical cycles where possible. I.d also like to do the same with the
mid-point ephemeris. add the asteroid belt, the nodes and do some additional
testing in relation to declination cycles. lastly tie the lunar ephemerides
into the scheme. To sum, I am looking to have every possible cycle
calculated for each day. Then I'd like to apply these to a natal chart. I
plan on learning "c,c++" as well as your program to create the Swiss/JPL
ephemeris, but, not right away. I'd prefer to purchase a disk file of the
above if it's even possible. The range of ephemeris dates I'm looking for
would be from approximately 1840 - 2020. The fields in effect would be

But you can have what you want much easier and for free:
download the swetest.exe utility, or use the one on our web server

a few hundred command line options, but you need no programming, just
a little time.
I am interested in ordering one of the horoscopes that you sell, but I'd

Thanks.

drei Jahren habe machen lassen, ergaben unterschiedliche Angaben (1 1/2 Std.
Differenz).
Zukunft lieber verzichten sollte?

gewagt.
i should have done this all at once but the more i read the more i have
to write back. iwas going thru the archives and found some interesting stuff
from a while back. like, the person who asked about balsamic moon types -
alois answered 'i dont know, maybe it has something to do with vinegar".
while moon phases are not the most important part of astrology, i would
expect a professional astrologer to know a little about them. moon phases,
like houses and signs, are important in the chart. full moon (moon opposite
sun) people are energetic and powerful, but often conflicted, for example.
new moon (moon conjunt sun) people are very focused and singleminded.
balsamic moon is right before the new moon, when your moon is in the sign
right before your sun sign. this type often produces people who are creative
or visionary. they can be very helpful to society and groups but sometimes
get caught up and distracted in things. these people tend to see themselves
as a small part of a greater whole. sometimes they are emotionally unbalanced
or fanatic, but not always, it depends on many chart factors. two famous
people with this moon phase type are bob dylan and immanuel kant (altho im
not sure who immanuel kant is to tell you the truth). perhaps alois just isnt
used to hearing it referred to as balsamic moon, usually its called waning
crescent moon or something else.

Alois adds: Thanks for clearing up the term 'balsamic moon'.
So far I had encountered it only in the vinegar section of Safeways.
And by the way, I am not a professional astrologer, so I should be excused
for not being familiar with 'luna balsamica'.
decided to write again after i read some more...the person who asked
about the symbols a while back - the key thing is chiron, an asteroid
sometimes used in astrology. i dont know too much about it but i think it has
something to do with work and service. im guessing that the "T" near the
moon's node means "True Node" a term sometimes used in place of "North Node"
so that would be your north node. incidentally, i dont see why the moons
nodes are used and not the other planets, because all the other planets have
nodes where they cross the ecliptic.
Raven [ JasmineAnospamtalkcity.com ]
new york, usa --- Sunday, August 20, 2000 at 02:43 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: When Sun an Moon are both close to one of the lunar nodes, a
Solar or Lunar eclipse occurs. This is a bit more impressive then when
Jupiter passes its orbital node (nothing happens). Because astrological
meaning was at least in part originally derived from the actual experience
of celestial events (things happening on the sky), the predominance
of the Lunar nodes should be obvious to anyone who has ever watched
a total solar eclipse, or even a lunar eclipse. It is IMPRESSIVE and
UNFORGETTABLE.
i love this site but i have two suggestions. first, people should be able
to read the archives in all one language so they can read everyones comments,
not just the ones in their language. like, you shuld have 'english version',
'german version', etc. also you should add a chat room to this site.

me again, yawn --- Sunday, August 20, 2000 at 01:42 Universal Time (UT/GMT)
Alois adds: Actually, I did not make this up by myself. The lady called
Precessio Aequinoctiorum did that
[sorry for my limited Latin, I am not fully sure about the correct genitive plural of Aequinoctium, and got rid of my Latin grammar books 30 years ago].
The 30-degree-sections of the ecliptic, counted from the
Spring Equinox, which we call 'signs of the zodiac' are shifting slowly against
the fixed star constellations which once upon the time gave names to those
sections (or which were given names from those sections). So they do not
coincide.
Paris, Texas is not the same as Paris, France. The two towns just have
the same name. Probably a long time ago a French person came and named this
humble Texan town after his great national capital. (I am making this up
as an example, be aware).
The ecliptic section 'Aries' is not the same as the fixed star
constellation 'Aries', they just have the same name. A long time ago they
coincided on the sky, for a few hundred years, while science went through its
first formative phase in the Hellenistic period, and were given the same name.
Already the astronomer
Polemy in 200 AD had noticed how much the signs had shifted from the constellations, when he compared current observations to data registered 600 years earlier.
Ptolemy used the shifted signs, measuring celestial positions from the
point where the Sun crosses the Equator, of course.
All astronomer do until this day,
and western astrologer too. This is called the ecliptic coordinate system, and
the zodiac measured fromt he Spring Equinox is called the tropical zodiac.
[My Greek is even more rusty than my Latin; if I remember right, 'tropos'
means 'season' and the tropical zodiac is the one which keeps aligned with
the seasons, starting in spring.]
I do not fully understand what you mean by 'literal' in this context. To be precise, ony should say 'Aries, tropical zodiac' versus 'Aries, fixed star constellation' versus 'Aries, latin for male sheep'. But usually it is clear from
the context which reference frame you mean. In the context of western
astrology, we mean 'tropical zodiac', not 'fixed star constellations'.
Thanks for this wonderful site. I use it daily
not only for myself but to help others who are
new to the use of the astrology tool.
Thanks again,

I love your site. It is fabulous. In the astro dictionary, there is some
material about arabic points. Like for a wedding, you take c9+c3-ve. Does
this mean that you take the distance between c9 & c3 as a line, and then
subtract the point of where venus is from that line? If so, where does the
distance of venus start? at the ascendant? Please help.
And are these "points" predictive? are they used today? or what do you do
with this information? Please advise. Thanks.

Alois adds: It does actually not matter from where you measure.
Convert from sign/degree to the 360 degree system first.
When you measure all angles from zero Aries, the formula
is
AP = c9 - c3 + ve
When you measure from any other zodiacal point, let's say x, the
formula is
AP - x = (c9 - x) - (c3 - x) + (ve - x)
This simplifies algebraically to
AP = c9 - c3 + ve
Just do your calculation modulo 360. If the result is more than 360, subtract
360 as often as needed to get into the range 0 .. 360; if the result is
negative, add 360 as often as needed to make it positive.

Sehr geehrter Herr Treindel

historischen Zeitpunkt stimmen muss) begreifen.
z.B. Hawaiian Time, oder was sonst eben passt. Wir können auch fest Universal
Time einem Ort zuordnen.
neuer Ort in unsere Datenbank erlauben könnten.
Angebot bereits sehr weit.
This message is for anyone who wishes to read it, but I would like a
response from you, Alois, if possible.
Before I report what I've found out, I'd like to state that I do believe
in astrology, because I have, in a way, observed it first hand in the many
people I come in contact with in general; But it does raise some questions
about the very basis of astrology.
I have heard a few people mention this before, but until recently I
haden't looked into it. What I'm talking about is the dates that the sun in
in the constellations of each zodiac sign. Instead of explaining I will put
down the dates and you can see for yourself. The following are from the 1997
World Almanac (I cant find my 2000), though the year doesn't really matter,
because the trend and travel of the sun is pretty much consistant through the
years.
Exact excerpt, p.456, "The World Almanac and Book of Facts 1997"
... The constellations of the zodiac with the approximate dates that the sun
is in each constellation in 1997, are as follows:
Jan. 1st-Jan 19th Sagittarius
Jan. 20th-Feb. 15th Capricornus
Feb. 16th-Mar. 11th Aquarius
Mar. 12th-Apr. 18th Pisces
Apr. 19th-May 13th Aries
May 14th-June 20th Taurus
June 21st-July 20th Gemini
July 21st-Aug. 10th Cancer
Aug 11th-Sept. 16th Leo
Sept. 17th-Oct. 30th Virgo
Oct. 21st-Nov. 22nd Libra
Nov. 23rd-Nov. 29th Scorpius
Nov. 30th-Dec. 17th Ophiuchus
Dec. 18th Dec. 31st Sagittarius
Also, it states that because of the width of the zodiac it actually cuts
through 26 different constellations, not 12. Also, the ecliptic moves through
13 signs now (The 13th being Ophiuchus), not 12. cont.: Owing to the
procession of the equinoxes, that is to say, to the retrograde motion of the
equinoxes along the ecliptic, each sing in the zodiac, in the course of 2,000
years, has moved backward about 30 degrees into the constellation west of
it...
As I said before, I do believe in astrology as a science (Anyone could
tell you that I'm definately a Gemini, not a Taurus); though as I said, these
facts raise some interesting questions; and with my somewhat limited knowlage
of astronomy these questions are unanswerable. And I do not practice blind
faith in any subject, or ideal,so any response to this would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Belief in astrology is a belief in something which is totally unscientific
and without any rational foundation. Astrology tells one nothing whatever
about the stars, planets etc, but may perhaps indicate to one the credulity
of those who believe in it!

Dearest Alois,
Your cyber public in general, and I in particular, thank you for your
wonderful site and particularly for fixing the recent problem, which
apparently had numbers of us in great anxiety over your, and the site's,
fate.
We all thank you for doing such a great service to the astrologically minded
in general, and I in particular thank you for all your help over the past
months, particularly for posting the NOW* choice that I requested last
spring. I use it every day and love being in astrological real time!

Alois adds: I am sorry for this. Our server was moved to a different building
while I was in vacation, and when it was rebooted, it had no active network
connection. Therefore it could not receive the correct time from the atomic
clock server on the network, and decided to start at January 1 1997.
I returned only two days later from my summer vacation and could fix the

PS: I deleted a large number of guestbook entries which reported the

Hello Astrodienst! Thankyou for the free valuable information! I can
appreciate the time and effort invested into creating your site. Keep up the
good work, and continue to live your lifes passion!
I recently read a book written by Charles Harvey...I gather he was a

to Astrology...a paper back size, a volume in a series of books by the
publisher, on many and various subjects. xxxoooo Misty Moon

I won't be boring and mention the date thing. Quite honestly, I enjoy my
life and don't need a computer to tell me how my day will be. While I respect
and appreciate the comphrensive services on offer , I can
make of my day what I will. There are energies and influences present, and
yes they are variable, but so too is my choice with how I use them. To all,
know that this is a guide. A common fallacy - throwing responsibility to the
sky and expect it all to land in our laps? [don't get me wrong. Astrology is
fantastic! You follow my drift]

A very gracious hello! A friend of mine turned me on to your site. I've been
using it for chart print-outs for a few months. I thought it was time to
thank you for the use. I am an astrologer/artist/singer/writer among other
things. I've practiced astrology and Tarot since 1969. I hold several
"register for copyrights" on original metaphysical manuscripts and art. I am
currently using your site as a registry for a particular 12 piece set of
prismatically colored Mandalas that took 3 years to create. I and a friend
are also building a website for a fantastic blender healthfood product.
Coming soon! My first entry concerning the Mandalas is size related[square
cut]. I am also creating a demonstration of my Mandalas for software use. I'm
looking for an animation software company that may be interested in this
project. This is the first time I've written anything on this site, if asking
for interested parties on business ventures is somehow out of line, then I
apologize for that. Mostly, just thanks for being such a good source of data
for astrologers like myself. I am only using charts I copy from this site for
personal use, and have no intention of reselling them for any reason.

Haus positioniert
ist. Ich kann mir die Abweichung nicht erklären. Wünsche nichts desto trotz

Hi there Astrodienst people!
Someone wrote to you asking, "Both my brother and sister, my mother, father
and me have the Moon in Aquarius, is this usual to have similarities between
family members?"
You replied, "It is common that horoscope factors repeat in families."
I don't like to rain on your parade, but the chances of any given repetition
of an astrological datum from generation to generation is entirely
calculable, given the frequency distribution of monthly births, and has
nothing to do with astrology! (Not that I don't think that astrology has
some truth in it!)

Hi there...great site, blah blah, keep up the good work, etc., etc.
Anyhow, I have a question, and I would really appreciate it if someone
reading this would email me and help me with it. Anyhow, say you have to
people, (i.e. Sag and Aries), and most astrologers would say that the
ascendants and moon signs can negatively affect the relationship. Well, what
I was wondering, is if they're sort of interchangeable...like sat my
ascendant is Pisces and moon is Aquarius, and the other person's ascendant is
Gemini and moon is Scorpio...even though Gemini and Pisces are square, as
with Aquarius and scorpio, can you put the ascnedant and moon together to
make for Gemini and Aquarius compatibility and Scorpio and Pisces
compatibility? Does anyone get what I'm talking about? Please email me,
thanks.

some of this is nice but there is still so much nonsense in here thats
not even funny.
Eg:
"Unlike some others, you seldom fall into the trap of jealousy,
for you value your lover's feelings about you more than technical chastity or
faithfulness. "
you people are f+++++g crazy to put something like that out there.
I just want to say this particular statement has
nothing to do with reality.
Please dont make me abuse you some more.
Take some pride in your fuckin work/
Or is it all just about money???????????

I have enjoyed using this web site. My only question is what is IC. My chart
forecast has Pluto conjunct IC in Oct2000. I will have a chart done in the

This is a wonderful site. I had to check the accuracy of a chart, and I
trust the accuracy of this one. Could anyone answer for me what the three
positions of the ascendent and midheaven that are listed on the chart are?
Are these AC and MC calculations for different systems, and if so which?

Alois: To the right of the Ascendant (AC) are house cusps 2 and 3,
and to the right of the MC are house cusps 11 and 12.
you guys are really cool! This is a great site, thanks for providing such
accurate information

It's a nice thing that I'm able to learn
astrology via internet, so let me come up with
the question...
When Pluto transits to the natal Neptune
position, what kind of change to the world would
you like to expect(see now situation, Pluto is in Sag10' and my own Nep
locates at Sag11' and so are my same age fellows...)?
Only do if you not blame, a second question,
My ascendant also at Sag15', so Pluto is on the
way through it..., and I'm eager to know what it
brings up in the near future...

Weiter so!
Danke!

Please explain the meaning of the symbol in the last column of your
epheremis-it looks like a small key. I have never seen this symbol before.
I have also never seen the node symbol with a small T in it. What does the T
mean?
Thank you very much.

Looking at my new horoscope calender, I see that for my daily readings, the
analysis for the day is rather scant. Though it shows a transit schedule for
the day, there are no explanations for them. How am I supposed to understand
them?
I thought that my daily reports would be better detailed, but now I see that
I will be left guessing. Can you help?
Thanks,

Your responses are very good. Sometimes amazing. But I have a very relevant
question - why does my birth-date, 90% of the time, state Aries as my
Ascending sign and the sun in the third house, and only 10% of the time,
Pisces as my Ascending sign, and the sun in the fourth house.
