I looked at one of your sample reports (love, flirtation...) and clearly my
moon is on the cusp of the 8th house, but it should still be considered to be
--IN-- the 7th house as it is in fact. (your calcs as follows)
Moon Leo 07°16'58 07/8 direct
8th House Leo 07°27'38
Therefore, your interpretations of my moon being considered belonging to the
8th house is incorrect.

I am experimenting with 'ascensional astrology' and I was wondering, if your
programming included the ability to enter exact degrees/mins for each
celestial body manually to compare report interpretations and generate charts
with aspects using these entries?
If this is a possibility, please let me know how to proceed.

Hi,
I did a chart for a friend that was born on 1/11/70 at 4:45 pm in
Kaiserslautern Germany. Her chart from your site said that she was a Cancer
rising but her chart was done by another astrologer and that one listed her
as a Leo rising. How could that be?

I have been using your wonderful tools to guide me in my growing interest in
astrology. While I feel I am making progress in general...I have run across
an area that I am not able to understand at all. I seem to be finding charts
that don't follow the "house sequence" once I have located the ascendant. An
example for you. I entered the day of.....27 March, 1945...birth time 4:00
a.m. The ascendant is Capricorn...but it tells me the 2nd house is Pisces.
What happened to Aquarius? Is it the first house? Is it lost? Does it not
"effectively" have an "affect" on the person? Is Capricorn the 12th
house...even if it is the Ascendant? I hope I have been able to make my
question clear...as i am totally unable to know what to do.
Thank you so much for your site and for taking time with me. You have no
idea what a pleasure you have brought to me and the joy I have of learning
each day.

I am new to your sight. I have been reading my reports for several days
now. I find my exploration of self and astrology extremely interesting to
me. What I am hoping you can explain to me is all these transits that occur
daily. I have 11 sitting in front of me for today that I printed off. I am
getting confused. Are these all true for today in general? Or am I supposed
to keep in mind the time of day that the transit occurs and consider it for
only that time? For example, The sun is in my 12th house exact at 18:11
today. I don't know how to read these times. This is military time isn't it?
Can you tell me how to find out how or explain it to me? Is the transit
report good to take into consideration only during those times? Am I on the
right track or way off base?! Thank you so much for my answers to these
questions. I think once I understand how I can have so many different
readings in one day, I will know how to apply them to my life. All of them
make sense today in one way or another. I could go with several of them.
Also, what does weak transient effect really mean? I have that at the top of
most of my transit reports for today.

Vor einigen tagen habe ich ihren free service
(vorschau der transite) fuer zwei verschiedene
personen beansprucht. Es ist eine grossartige
dienstleistung, welche sie damit offerieren.
Doch eine frage moechte ich ihnen dazu stellen.
Im einen horoskop laeuft zur zeit ein jupiter-
transit ueber den ac, welcher in ihrem text nicht
zitiert wird.
Im andern radix besteht ein neptun transit ueber
den mc und in wenigen tagen ebenfalls ein jupiter
transit ueber den ac, auch hier beides unerwaehnt.
Meines wissens sind transite ueber die achsen sehr
bedeutungsvoll. Koennte es sein, dass sie uner-
waehnt bleiben, weil jupiter in beiden radix resp
neptun im einen radix keine bedeutngsvolle stel-
lung bekleiden oder tun sie dies aus prinzip ue-
bergehen weil in vielen radix die geburtszeien
ohnehin nicht exakt sind und damit die achsen
folgerichtig korrekturbeduerftig sind.

Hello, is this an ok forum for a query by a novice? I was asked by a friend
to do a forecast for her. After I had set it up I found that you have hadded
a forecast (nice) to your site. So I have also run that. There is one
discrepancy though, I found several transits to Venus - none of which is
included in your forecast. - What have I been missing? - her dates: 16th of
October 1943 at 01:07 (am), Stockholm Sweden. Sun in Libra and moon in Taurus
- shouldn't that qualify for Venus being included? The ones I found was
Pluto square Venus ongoing with direct hits beg.july and mid september 2000
and Jupiter square Venus, directly mid sep, end october 2000 and april 2001.
- I know her well, and she is very much "a Venus person".
I hope this is intelligible, and that I am not wasting your time on something
that I ought to know :-)

Alois adds: I think your question is mostly answered in the short introduction.
I do not agree that transits over Venus are particularily important for a person
with Libra and Taurus placements. Any transit can be important, and the
Short Report - Forecast makes a really tight selection. If you order one
of our one year reports, particularly the 'Transits of the Year' by Robert Hand, or the 'Yearly Horoscope Analysis' by Liz Greene, you will get a much
more extensive overview. But also there a selection of important themes
is offered, and completeness (reading of every transit which happens) has
not been the design goal. It is likely however that a Pluito square will
always be included if it happens.

My family and I enjoyed watching Astro very much especially Wah Lai Toi. But
a little comment...there seems to be a difference in the volume between
show/movie and commercial break. The volume is higher during commercial
breaks thus we have to lower it each time. This is very inconvenience. Other
friends and relatives also noticed the same. Pls look into this matter. Thank

I know you are usually sarcastic and brook no "opposition" when someone asks
about differences in ephemeris times, if you deign to answer that person, but
when a (distant) client gave me all her birth details, except for the birth
place, I looked up her birthdate in the "World Ephemeris for the 20th Century
- 1900 to 2000 at Midnight" by Para Research, Preface by Robert Hand, while
waiting for her to answer me. With her DOB on 21 June 1978 and her birthtime
3.21 p.m., I found her sun to be most definitely in Gemini (29 degrees 16
minutes 40 seconds), but when I got her birth place and used your free
services, you gave her sun to be in Cancer (0 degrees 2 minutes 50 seconds).
This is not criticism, so don't be so touchy. Please explain how this could
happen. I've been using the book for years and has always found it to be
accurate for charts and readings for people I know well.

Alois adds: I am sorry if you are so afraid of my comments. You need to learn
to use an ephemeris if you want to do hand calculations.
It (usually) gives planetary positions at MIDNIGHT.
At 0:00 UT (beginning of) 21 Jun 1978 the Sun was at 29°16'42" Gem, as your ephemeris says and
as our online ephemeris says as well. At 0:00 UT (beginning of) 22 Jun 1978 the Sun was at
0°13'42 Cancer.
Now, when was your client born. At 3.21 pm you say, but you do not say where,
so I cannot know the timezone. Let's assume in New York, which has
EDT at that date, so for 15:21 local time the Greenwich time is 19.21.
Now comes a little math: if at 0:00 the Sun was at 29°16 Gemini,
and 24 hours later it is at 0°13 Cancer, where is it at 19:21 ?
At 0°2'50" Cancer! Right?
Of course, when you take a location further east, in a different timezone,
you might well remain Gemini. Your calculation is certainly wrong when you
take midnight positions from the ephemeris, but what the right calculation is
can only be said if you provide a birth place.

scorpio or leo ascendant. as it turns out, we DO both have scorpio rising.

I was interested in knowing if it would be possible to get a VOCATIONAL
reading from you and/or a progressed chart (a perhaps less extensive more
focused version of the annual or 2000 that Liz Greene does -- maybe a 3-month
scope?) Also, just a comment that one of Pelletier's free charts was
exceptionally and exceedingly harsh. I would only recommend him to a
self-condemnation zealot. And I have a conjunction in Sag (Venus/Mars) and do

Alois adds: There can be many reasons for a slow link. Generally, you
will find faster service with our US server www.astro.com than with the Swiss
server www.astro.ch, because we have much higher Internet bandwidth at our US
location. The content is exactly the same; sometimes a new feature is first
tested for a few hours on the Swiss Server before it is deployed generally.
Most testing is done internally on our Intranet, but often it is helpful
to see how 'normal' users behave with a new feature.
Great site, but afraid you have misspelt Middlesbrough as "Middlesborough".

dear professor Alois,
thank you very much for the very elaborated site that you have contribute to
built. it was already two years ago that i begun consulting it and it has
helped me very much beginning to learn about astrology. of course the
astrolog programme is the one of the most valuable tools you could porvide
amateurs with.
in fact, i order a personal report that was rather good but i think that it
still leaves too many questions in the air. i think that my personal
combination (scorpio 28degrees ascendent geminis 1degree, mercury "combusted"
with the sun, sun opossite ascendent, etc.) is too complicated to be properly
analised by the computerised programme.
i will be thankful if liz green it could revise it a little bit although i am
not sure how to tell her. i waitied for a long time to check first if the
findings of the report were correct and two years have alerady passed by.
could you advise me on how to contact her? thank you.
but i am writting to you regarding the report but rather a doubt that has
emerged when analysing a comparison chart. in fact i met somebody a year ago
and since the begining the relationship was somehow special. when i
introduced the data in the astrolog porgramme for the comparison chart i
obtained a very strong trine between our suns and other similar aspects,
while this is combined with a perfect opposition of the midcoeli.
to my understanding the sun signifies many different things but i presume
that it can also simply mean that the events in our lifes will bring us
together or i other words a "life together". my first question is if this is
correct.
because of our jobs i temporarely live in tanzania and she temporarely lives
in brussels. under thses circumstances it is impossible to foresee where we
will be in one year time from now. then my second question is: does the
harmony among our suns mean that we will end up living at the same place? but
since our midcoelis are opposed getting together will be at the expense of
one of the two's professional career?
when i consult the sample relationship report for both i was estonished of
how precised it is and also surprised by the potential of carrying a deeper
analysis, but unfortunately i fear that it will have to be written in a more
subtile manner than the computerised programme proposes.
thank you very much for your time and if you have time to consult any of my
questions of any of the three charts i will be most thankful to you.

While trying your free report and looking into my chart I saw that Neptune
is in the 5th house. This confused me a little and made me sad....does this
mean that influence of Neptune as bringing abnormality could cause
abnormality to my children? I am really dissapointed...does this mean I

Alois adds: I wonder what you have been reading about Neptune. Certainly
what you quote has not been found on our website. There is no reason to see
Neptune so negative. You could just as well say 'my children will be
wonderful musicians or artists' because this is another theme related
to Neptune. Whether you should have children is a question which you
should answer yourself, and not look for astrology to provide the answer.
You need to be able to give them your love, attention, warmth, security
and time. If your life situation or relationship is very unstable, it
may be better to postpone the issue of children. You are only 28, and have a lot of time ahead of you.
By the way, if your birth time was a few minutes later your Sun would
be in Pisces. I would take your fear of Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, as
an indication that you are really still an Aquarius and not a Pisces.
As a Pisces, you would not worry that much about Neptune, as its nature
would be much more familiar to you.

to point out that the composite it created for me with another person came up
with the wrong Venus placement...a pretty significant error considering it
was a relationship reading. To be more specific it put the composite venus
in Cancer instead of Cap. for a Scorpio and Pisces venus natally. You may
want to check into this.

Alois adds: There are several technical options for computing a composite.
One of the options concerns Mercury and Venus: some astrologers transpose
Mercury and Venus by 180 degrees to the opposite sign, if they come out on
'the wrong side of the Sun' in the chart.
We offer both variants. In the chart drawing section for type 62 the
two planets are always put on the side of the Sun, in chart type 671 and all
reports they are not moved but remain where they technically fall.
There are other differences as well, regarding how the Ascendant is
computed. Like with different house systems, these differences are not ERRORS
but choices of technique by different astrologers.
I am interested in obtaining a software to make natal charts, and a book
explaining the orbs subject step by step. In case you might have information
about these please contact.

i received a free natal chart (i think) a big circle with a lot of
imagery on it, and a step chart at the bottom. that lists various planets
etc, but i don't understand what it means. like it shows the sun, then
next to it it says 6 vir 57' 3" what exactly does that mean? also, i am

correct terminology) something that will tell me which house is what for me,
like when the sun is in gemini, how does this affect me? etc, is that my

How many Fingers of Fate can you count? If I were to use a 3 degree orb
and allow a little extra for aspects involving the moon then I can count 10.
Your beautiful chart shows 4. There could be 6 easily enough. Jupiter and
Saturn are pretty squeaky. And I don't know about this extra moon orb, could
be...
Good information on the Yod aspect pattern is not to be found in any one
place. I have dug around and have some ideas but nothing that is coming
close to satisfying me.

The latitude and longitude coords are wrong for my birthplace. I originally
entered in the coords based on my best guess (back when it was possible to do
so) and now you don't allow changes to those coords and your database is
storing the WRONG information. Please put back the ability to enter exact
latitude and longitude. I was born in a place that usually does not show up
on the maps very well - and never shows up in digital atlases. While my
guess wasn't far off, now that I have the correct info - I would like to use
it. It does make a difference!

The necessary link of each place to a timezone table does not allow this.
However, we are happy to add new towns with user provided coordinates, if
they come from a reliable source.
Many astrologers are not aware of a very important point: Only if the time
of birth has a precision of better than 4 seconds of time, the place coordinatesneed to be precise by the minute. If your birth time is unknown within
one minute of time, then it does not matter if the coordinates are off
by 15 arc minutes (approx. 10 miles). There is no sense in aiming for
supposedly high precisionin location while you lack the precision in time.
You can add seconds (and 1/100 of secinds) in our data entry form, if you
have them. Just write the minute field as 23.34.50, for example, which
will be interpreted as 23m34.50sec.

Alois adds: The sources for the correct timezone in Vietnam between 1955
and 1976 differ. For your date our site uses 8 hours east, but it may be
7 hours east. Please go back to data entry and use the 'manual timezone'
feature, and set the timezone to e07. This will give your 0° Capricorn
instead of 16° Sagittarius. Please be aware that two minutes earlier, 1.48 pm, would also give you Sagittarius rising.
Your case is one of the few where manual timezone my be better.
So far we could not resolve the different data given in French and American
source books. If some astrologer from Vietnam could clarify the matter
and provide printed documentation, it would be very welcome. Also
possible differences between North and South Vietnam are of interest.
Our current sources say there were no differences.
I thank you very much for everything. I found out many interesting things
on your site. I have one question however. I have always thought I had
retrograde planets in my chart. I was born on 07,aug,1943 12noon in
Bucharest,Romania. As a casual astrologer myself I find this confusing.
Could there be any reason why I cannot find the retrograde planets I always

For chart drawings, which you read yourself, we offer a wide spread of
technical options, like heliocentric or hindu-sidereal.
For interpretations we cannot offer these options. An interpretation is done
(or was written) by a specific astrologer which uses his personal
astrological technique. When you want a chart reading by this astrologer, you
should be willing to let him/her use HIS/HER technique.
The same applies in other professions, not just in astrology.
You cannot go to a French
restaurant and ask for Indian cuisine; they will offer your their style of
cooking, and if you don't like French food, you better go somewhere else.
I would expect there are some Indian websites which offer free Hindu style
chart readings. Just find them.
I asked for some advice a few months ago and i dont know how to find it in
the archives. I can only find may 2000 i need april. I would also like to

a selection of free services. In the rightmost column, the second
entry is 'Extended Chart Selection'. This is what you want.
Before the new free reports were added, there was only single column
of selections with four entries. Now there are two columns with nine
entries. This is the only change.
Your web page is great, but since you have updated I can't find my house
placements from any chart I tried to select(frown).I know my rising sign is
Libra, but it is falling into Scorpio, so it is not the usual pattern. It
really helped me in my studies to have access to this information.
If there is any way I didn't find this option ...please fill me in.

Your astrology site is the best I've visted so far. The Sun-sign based Web
sites are fun to read, but I prefer the real thing. I was so happy to find a
site that gives viewers a free daily horoscope based on transits to their own
personal birth charts and all those other charts you offer. I knew the rosy
predictions of the Sun-sign astrologers out their on the Web weren't telling
me the whole story. This site saves me time, too, as I don't always have to
check my transits with my ephemeris and then refer to my books for
interpretations. I hope to order a full forecast report from you at some time

use the tropical zodiac. If you go to the 'extended chart selection'

Hello! I enjoy your beautiful charts and easy selection process. I have
studied astrology for almost 30 years (can it be that long???) and appreciate
the depth given to the daily horoscope texts. I do have one question for
you. In running my husband's chart I notice that it seems you are using
daylight savings time for Chicago, IL in 1950. A few years back an astrology
group I belonged to discovered that hospitals in Chicago, IL , USA actually
recorded the birth time in CST time (not the DST as indicated on the clock) -
some time in the 40s on into the early 50s somewhere. I'm sorry I do not
have the exact years for you. To make a long story shorter, I will say we
did later find his birth certificate amongst hidden "important" papers and
alas, his time actually had CST written after it! 8-26-50. 4:26 p.m. CST. We
can only hope there were alot of Virgo rising nurses, so people born in
Chicago will be able to tell from their birth certificate the actual time of
birth. If I get further definitive info. on which hospitals and which years
I will let you know. I know that for me and my husband it was quite
illuminating having a "reborn" chart once we discovered the hour difference.

Alois adds: Thanks for the information. We would not change our database
of daylight savings time for that. Our database contains the legally
valid timezone for any town and any given date. We assume that when an
event is recorded, a person looks at a wrist watch or wall clock which is
expected to show the legally valid time of that place.
If a person choses to record the time of an event in another frame of
reference, it is his/her responsibilty. Basically it is very stupid
to record an event in anything else than the legally valid time.
If the hospitals were so stupid to record in the wrong timezone, the documents
they have issued should be corrected. The fact that Chicago people have used
daylight savings time at that date cannot be changed, and any normal human
being, when it made a note of an event, will have recorded it in 'wrist time',
the only frame of reference which makes sense (besides GMT/Universal time).
If you come upon a birth certificate which was recorded in anything other
then 'wrist time' the recommended procedure is to correct that error
once and forever, by writing 5.26 CDT onto that certificate, and using
5.26 (the legally valid time of the event) from then on.

I have been studying astrology partly as a way to understand my own life,
but I would eventually like to be able to interpret for other people, and I
have a question about conveying bad news. I personally have had a horrible
life for the past 1 1/2 - 2 years, (born 7-3-54, in Nampa Idaho at 7:02am),
and after reading my horoscope for I am really scared. In "Shedding your
skin" it talks about violent incidents being a possiblility at this time.
With all of the other bad things that have happened this one really bothers
me. Is it advisable to give people such bad news? What can a person
possibly do to prevent something like this from happening. And if you know
in advance that it could happen, would you not be likely to make it happen
(self-fulfilling prophecy)? Where does an astrologer draw the line?

worded. Short of denial, some hard facts have sometimes to be faced.
I think you have overlooked many expressions of 'may', 'can' and 'sometimes' in the text.
Are you also against public hurricane warnings in Florida and neighbouring
states because they might upset people?
For those who have not access to Robert Hand's original text as published
in 'Planets in Transit', I quote here the slightly shortened versions as
it appears in the Personal Daily Horoscope:
Saturn Square Pluto
This can be a difficult time in your life. Because of circumstances and
other people, you find it very difficult to make the changes you would
like to make in the world around you. For example, your ambitions for
your work may be frustrated. Bosses or coworkers may try to prevent you
from accomplishing what you want. Financially, you will probably have
to curb expenses because you simply do not have the resources.
Sometimes the experience of this transit is much like struggling against
chains that hold you down. The temptation is to resist and struggle
with all your might.
However, resisting is not the best way to handle this energy, because
that would set in motion destructive powers beyond your control. This
influence is sometimes associated with violent incidents, so take care.
The best way to handle it is with some degree of detachment.
Understandably you will be quite upset with some of the obstacles that

Alois adds: Solche Transite werden oft mehrfach exakt, da der laufende Planet nach Ueberquerung eines
Radixpunkts rückläufig wird, und noch zweimal drüber geht. Wir werten den Transit vom ersten
Eintritt in den Orbis bis zum letzten Austritt als bedeutsam.
Als ausgewählter Transit im Tageshoroskop kann er mehrfach vorkommen, normalerweise
nahe bei einem der Exaktheitspunkte. Das Tageshoroskop ist immer ein Auszug aus dem
ganzen Horoskopkalender für ein Jahr; damit nicht an vielen Tagen das gleiche kommt,
erhalten oft auch unwichtige Transite den Vorrang als 'Thema des Tages'.
Vermutlich kam der erwähnte Transit auch im Januar mal zur Besprechung, wenn Sie damals
täglich das Tageshoroskop abgerufen haben.

Hi, My question is where are the explanations of the chart wheel or how do I
read them. About two weeks ago I had no problem seeing the report? Maybe It
has to do with the 75% and 100% free chart. How do I find the 100% free
chart? Also, I would like to say I have deen looking for a specific type of
natal chart method up until I found Astrodienst and now I can say nobody

I was interested in the comment from Jessica on June 9th. I have used your
service to do several family and friends' charts and most are from
Saskatchewan. The times since 1968 do seem right. Also, I just checked the
time on the chart of the moment and it was right. It was six hours
difference from Universal time. Before that in the summer the time was six
hours but usually from October to April it was seven hours difference.
I really enjoy your service. Thirty years ago I was really interested in
Astrology but the calculations were hard and I never knew if I was right when
making a chart .For twenty five years I forgot about doing Astrology. When
I found your site I renewed my interest and I have been having a great time
playing around with it ever since.

degree within a 30-degree sign, while 'rising sign' just names the sign
without giving the exact degree. In this sense there is a slight
difference.
I liked your website a lot better when you provided the wheel chart showing
all the individual's planet and signs, and elements. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED
in the minimum information now provided (i.e., only the sun, moon, and
ascendent placement).

hi there.. i just discovered your website recently and think it's great.
however, i thought i should point out an error with your time data..i was
born in saskatoon, sask, canada, and your time seems to be off by an hour.
(sask time never changes)..
also, i have a question.. in my chart, it shows the houses unevenly spread
around, without even a fourth house to speak of! i have never encountered
this version (have only been studying astrology for a little while..)-- what
is it? how does one determine what space the houses occupy? i am just so
baffled, having never seen this, and all the changes this would cause my

worst states in this respect. Many different parts of the state followed
different rules at different times.
I will re-check for Saskatown, there seems to be something odd in our data
because it shows 'permanent daylight savings time' since 1968.
Where's Dark Moon Lillith on the best site in the Universe! I know you have
it somewhere, but where? I feel like I may be the only one interested but I
know it's quite comman in Europe, if not hereabouts where newspaper astology

What i meant is that since the option of a hindu geocentric (sidereal) chart
is already proposed in the extended chart selection, why not give the user or
client the choice of the chart wich will be the base of his report?
also it would be better to let the users be aware of the two major astrologys
that exist, that is tropical (western) and sidereal (eastern), and let them
make the choice. i am suprised that an excellent web sites as yours on this
subject has so little regards toward sidereal astrology wich has far more
history then tropical has. it is, what i believe and as do most astrologers
using sidereal astrology, one of the biggest misunderstanding of our time,
regarding the subject of astrology. thank you very much again for responding

I was thinking that it would be nice to have a sample report not only with
tropical astrology but with hindu (sidereal) because i do not use tropical
astrology. i think sidereal should be put as an option as with tropical.

I think that an astrologer has the right to use HIS/HER technique
for interpretation. I don't think that a client should ask an astrologer
to work according to a different technique, not the one chosen by the astrologer.
To me your suggestion sounds like asking a hindu priest to celebrate a catholic mass. This is fun for a carneval, but not for real work.

Hi. Maybe there's something wrong with my computer,but I have tried several
times this morning to get a chart. I get the information as far as Sun Asc
and Moon, then I choose chart selection, make my changes, click on "select
chart". Then a box appears with 75% (which I chose). I click on it, and
still, no picture appears. Yesterday, everything worked perfectly. I don't
know if the problem is at my end or yours.

First of all, my congratulations for the great site you have here. As a
learner and an avid reader of Liz Greene's books, it was great to have found
such a balanced offer of free online services and other ones.
Just one thing though, I am a tranlator (amongst other things) and could not
resist browsing through the sample reports you have available online. I found
several "problems" with the Portuguese versions, namely, the use of Brazilian
Portuguese... It's like being British and having to read American English,
but much worse, believe me, my mother tongue is systematically butchered in
Brazil.
Apart from that, which is not directly related to the site's quality, you've
done an awesome job!
