First of all, I need to express my gratitude to you folks at Astrodienst
for providing this wonderful service for the world. I use the Daily Horoscope
feature everyday as a nice adjunct to periodical readings with my Astrologer.
As I am a budding student myself, your site has been instrumental in
encouraging my interest in Astrology. Thank you. And I especially like the
recent changes the site has undergone over the past year. So much better! If
ther some kind of emailing list or something you are welcome to add me to it.
One more thing before I go. I would like to tell about a wonderful
Astrologer. Tim Lyons, Ph.D., is a practicing Budddhist, professional
Astrologer, and Professor of Literature at CU Boulder. He has written a book
called"Astrology Beyond Ego". If you don't know it already, it might be worth
a read. I can testify that he gives readings/consultations with an amazing
degree of precision and sensitivity with regards to the counselor/client
relationship. He has a remarkable to articulate and communicate the problems,
pitfalls and opportunities the client might be facing. Anyway he's good, just

THANK YOU for sharing this amazing database and software and providing a
better understanding of what astrology is. Applying the Transit Rhythmogram
Chart for my whole life made me understand at last which transits are really
important. Also, by looking at the WHOLE WORLD charts of my entire family and
compare it to mine, I started to have a different outlook on my life. You
provide me with so many answears... and for free!
I am trully glad to see so many people grateful for having this information
available through the net. I hope the few who not yet understand the reach of
what you are doing can show some appreciation soon -- by then, astrology
would be really understood, and all the possibilities of personal growth it
provides would be finally accessible.

Ich finde eure Seite wirklich echt genial. Ich lese fast jeden Tag mein
Horoskop. Ich habe auch mein Geburtshoroskop ausgedruckt. Jetzt habe ich nur
noch ein Problem, ich kann es nicht deuten. Für mich ist das irgend eine

Hi Astrodienst,
I am really impressed by your great web site, and was able to print off my
natal chart. I also liked the daily horoscopes.
I tried to visit the 'Moon Sign Combinations' site, but it was being
updated.
I would like to know where I can find a free Moon sign analysis on the Web.
My Sun is in Taurus, but I have a very independent Moon in Aquarius.
Any ideas?

I really feel the need to express my condolences for the departure of this
exceptional human being, you were so privileged to have known and been close

I like your charts a lot but there are a few features that I would like to
see in future improvements: Orb degree variation according to the aspect
involved. My final question is to know the number of the asteroid Lilith, not
the 1181 but the other, the "dark moon" that appears on your chart with
asteroids, to put it on any chart I want, since this fictional point is very
important to me. A final comment lies in the great value of this freeware
site since he gives a needfull and scientifical approach to astrology, far
away from all other "free payed - no quality charts" "sponsored" everywhere
on the WWW. These are, by far, the best charts I´ve seen. Kind regards. Paulo

software, now that I found your site, I'm elated. It's a wonderful thing. My
one request is that you guys add more info. As in planets in signs, major

Try using wwx.astro.com (note the 'x'). If that works, the problem was with your
AOL proxy server. Disable using proxy services in your brwoser settings.

Alois adds: You need to tell the place as well. You can find out your sun
sign very easily, by clicking on the 'Horoscope' link on top of this page,
and entering your data. Sun, Moon and Ascendant sign are already shown
during data entry, as soon as the natal data are complete.
If you proceed to the 'Show chart' section, the Sun sign will be given
in words, not just in astrological glyphs, in the left upper area of the chart.
Would it be possible to put weekly or monthly horocopes in this site? I enjoy
it, but would like more outlook.

Alois adds: I am afraid we cannot fulfill all requests; we use the
software we have from the Astrodienst chart service, and it represents
the style of charts common in Central Europe, where Astrodienst has
done business for 20 years.
You might try out the 'additional data tables' available for most
charts. They contain a lot of valuable details, though they will
not give you a drawing with the degree figures drawin onto the circle.
I find Astrodienst very wonderful, however are you ever going to cast charts
with the degrees on the charts themseles instead of the grid below. I'm
adding on this...I meant the degree of the planets, asteroids and
houses,...

Alois adds: Astrologers use various color coding schemes for aspect
lines, there is no uniform way of doing this. Most use red for hard,
blue for soft angles. But what about conjunction, which can be both ways,
and has no drawn line. It does not really matter which colors are used,
the various colors are just there to make the chart easier to read. But read it
you still must, by thinking.
Hello Astrodienst:
I love your site and the valuable services it provides. However, I'm
surprised that some 16 hours past the time of my lunar return, and with the
Moon at 7 degrees past its position in my natal chart, the lunar return chart
you calculate for me is still the one for one month ago. What gives?
And, turning to another topic, would it be very difficult for you to
include the Uranian "planets" among the "objects" that can be selected for
inclusion in charts?

Alois adds: Astrodienst has a tradition of not offering phantasy planets
in its charts, I am afraid. It comes from my personal astrological
preferences and the teachers I have learned from.
If enough 'Uranians' ask, we might take a heart and add the feature, though.
But there are far too many aspects with eight additional bodies, and
rather narrow orbes will have to be used. I have no idea what the Witte
disciples do about this. Also, we will never start offering all the special techniques used by the Hamburg school. It is not just about having eight
non-real planets in the charts.

Dear Liz Green
Returning to the UK after weeks of absence, I was stunned, shocked and
grieved to learn about Charles' death. I had lunch with him, Suzi and Mike
Harding in June 98, and he seemed fine. We were discussing the possibility of
running Astrology courses at Summer School at Middlesex University, where I
then worked as Marketing Manager. That same October I learned that Charles
was ill, "something Neptunian" Suzi said.
Anyone who has known Charles, in my case since 1982, will recognise
everything which you have said as true. I have never been as inspired by
another human being as I was by Charles. I used to leave his Astrology
Classes at Regents College, as if walking on air. Thank you for having
expressed so beautifully what, I know, many of us must feel.

Hallo!
Das ich mir meine Horoskop-Zeichnung umsonst runter laden kann ist wirklich
toll. Allerdings habe ich einen Mangel entdeckt.
Es geht um die schwarze Mondin "Lilith", ihre Daten sind zwar bei den
anderen Daten auch aufgeführt. Aber in der Zeichnung fehlt sie dann. Ist das
Absicht? Zumal alle anderen kleinen Planeten auf der Radix mit drauf sind.
Es wäre schön, wenn die Lilith demnächst mit auf der Radix ist.

of Mars in relation to houses in the Daily Horoscope, as pointed out by
someone from Australia but with insufficient information to be checked. I
brought up a reading for a native whose birthdate is 2 April 1972, at Ann
Arbor, MI, USA, 6 a.m., which informed me that Mars was entering the first
house on 27 March. But I looked at the ephemeris which has Mars at 3 degrees
Taurus on that date. This is not the first house for this nativity, because
your own chart gives 3 degrees Aries as the ascendant. Here it does not
matter whether equal house or Placidus methods are used. Have the houses
shifted by one since my original (sketchy) astrology studies many years ago?
I learned that the ascendant marked the beginning of the first house. I hope
you can let me know if there is something I am not grasping here.

but that you are today still under this theme. You have to click on the transit
to get its reading, and it will also shown the time period from when to
when it is important.
I ran the daily horoscope for the 27th with your data, and under the
heading 'Important long term influences' the thrid listed item is
'Mars enters the 1st house'. When you click on it, you get:
Transit selected for today (by user): Mars enters the 1st House,
activity period from 17 February 2000 to 12 April 2000.
Any ephemeris will tell you that Mars crossed you ascendant 3 Aries indeed
on February 17th.
To avoid such misunderstandings in the future, we changed the wording to
'in the 1st house'.

for example a Moon sextile, or also a Mercury transit if Mercury turns
retrograde. While our system in that case will try to select a secondary
(less important) transit for the day if there is one, it may be that the
repeating transit is the only one availble for the day, and then it will
be selected as the one to be shown. Before you derogate us, you might want
to learn some astrology. If you know how to do it better, please share your
wisdom.

This has however nothing to do with your question.
A person with Sun in Virgo can have ANY sign in the fifth house, depending on which time of the day the person is born.
A personal note on the side:
I am continuously surprised how quick some visitors are with
accusations of incompetence, when obviously they understand not even the
basics of astrological computation. When you browse around our
website it should be obvious that we do understand a bit about what we do.
Astrodienst is probably the most competent astrological computing service
in the world.
As a Zoroastrian Astrologer born in Iran, it was interesting to see
references made to Persian/Iranian and Arabic scholars in the same vein.
Please note that most Persian or Iranian astrology is descended from the
Zoroastrian roots, and as such has little to do with the Arabs. For example
you mention Kharazmi (not Al Kharazmi) was an Iranian, not an Arab.
Unfortunately once Islam, slammed Iran, and burnt all the libraries in place
of the Koran, the Arabic characters had to be used. Iranian scientists used
Arabic, much the same way as the different Eurpoeans used Latin. So please
be careful.

I really love your site, but if you are not heterosexual it is more difficult
to interpret your daily horoscopes. Would the interpretation be to just
reverse genders when anything to do with relationship is stated as being with
the opposite gender? This doesn't seem like a "true" way to look at things
for me. Any suggestions?

Alois adds: For our printed reports we usually have on option
to indicate a same-sex partner preference, that makes all partner
references come out the desired way.
However, we do not ask customers or web visitors about their sexual
preferences, as it would be a severe intrusion into their privacy.
By default, we assume heterosexual preference which is correct for more
than 90% of the population.
The daily horoscope has few partner references anyway, and we think that
most visitors can make the necessary translation.
If you ever order a report, please add a comment that you prefer
the 's=hom' optional switch. For the relationship horoscope
of course this is not necessary as the sex of both persons is known
from the natal data.
Dear Alois: my cuestion about the exact time for a specific planet position,
which I asked you some days ago: do I have to calculate it manually with your
day's ephemerides, or do you have a program, that gives me the exact time.

I have noticed that in my daily horoscope, the transit selected for
today, March 22nd, has an exact time of: 00.57 - Saturn square Pluto,
however, the activity period stated is from 23 June to 31 March 2000. If the
exact transit is today, wouldn't the influence of this transit be felt for a
longer period than until 31 March 2000 if it began on 23 June 1999? I have
noticed this with other transits that occur in my chart. Please could you
explain how you arrive at the activity period?

Alois adds: You are talking about differences of 3 arc minutes, which are
about 5 km or 3 miles. Hyderabad is a city much larger than that, and it is
irrelevant which reference point one exactly takes. Expressed in time,
a shift of location by 3' corresponds a shift of time by 12 seconds.
Very few birth times have such precision.
I truly appreciate the services of your site. It is nice to know that
there is an on-line chart-maker that is not a strictly commercial site.

Very helpful site, great variety. One problem I
noticed, however, was on the solar return chart.
I got one that would begin on my birthday in 2000.
This would not be the currently operative chart.
Shouldn't it go from the previous, rather than the
next, birthday? I see no way to get this.

the Solar return chart, are three fields labeled 'start date for charts
marked with *'. In the third of these fields, please enter the year you want.
For the Solar return, day and month are of course ignored, as the day derives
from the chart itself. Only the year can be chosen.

described by a professional astrologer as a "craddle".
It seems it is the sort of aspect classified as Grand Trines, T-Squares,

It definitely brings some clarification to the thorny issue of house division
on higher latitudes. Nevertheless, I notice that, in a hypothetical birth
horoscope March 21, 2000, 05.00 local time in Hammerfest, Norway , the Sun
lies in house 12, Jupiter and Saturn in the first house (assuming Equal House
division). But at this hour the sun is still below horizon, thus,
traditionally speaking, in house 1. How would You interpret the horoscope for
this unfortunate fellow? Has he the sun in the first house or in the twelfth?
Astrologically speaking the difference is enormous. How would You deal with
this problem?

I am very impressed with this site! I have been a fan of Robert Hand and
Liz Greene since the early 80's and this site is the ultimate.One thing
eludes me though: I have a transit from neptune to natal venus this month,
while jupiter transits venus at the same time but it does not appear in the
daily horoscope, why is that? This seems to happen with a few long term
transits. My suggestion is that all long term transits should be included in
the big picture at all times.

Fabulous site! 8000 asteroids? I'd love to learn what 8000 asteroids could
possibly mean in an astrological chart. Does asteroid number 5,812 signify

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. The asteroid information is comparable
to noise, it is impossible to make sense out of it. But one can play games
with the asteroids, usually name games, by looking up the most (namewise) fitting
asteroids for your friends, family and so on, and relate them to
your chart. I for example found that I have the asteroid Alois #3045
within only a few degrees of my ascendant; probably I could rectify my chart
after it. But what does 'Alois' mean? The discoverer of that particular
asteroid named it after his grandfather, who had the same first name
as I do, a pretty common name in catholic german speaking areas.
Still it is funny to see where "I" turn up in other people's
charts.
I have really enjoyed using your site. I was just wondering about showing
planets in retrograde on your chart format. I might not be looking in the
right area. I would appreciate further information. Thanks Suzanne

Alois adds: In the default chart format, there is a little r besides the
planets's glyph in the drawing, and also an 'r' behind the listing of
the planets position in the table on the left of the chart if the
planet is retrograde. We don't show the 'r' for the Mean Node, as it is
backward by nature.
Stations are indicated there with 's' or 'd', where 's' stands for
staionary, becoing retrograde, and 'd' stands for staionary, becoming
direct. Both can be combined with an 'r', if the planet is already or still
in the retrograde phase.
Finally, much more detail is presented when you choose the 'additional tables'
available for most types of charts.
My sister did a free natal chart on her newborn son using your site. Having
studied Astrology for 27 years, it is wonderful to find so accurate a website
with this free information made available to everyone. THIS IS A FABULOUS
SITE!!!!

This is by far the most comprehensive astrological site I have found yet.
I have searched all over the internet to find my Rising Sign (with daylight
savings taken into account)and found nothing until now.The daily horoscope

Hi. I do appreciate your program,but there is a little glitch that needs to
be resolved. This is the 2nd time this has come up for me, so other people
must be experiencing it as well. You did answer me last time, but it's
important that you know, I had already done what you suggested. The problem
is,the chart keeps coming up with old information Even Though The New
Information Is Being Fed Through On Person #1. I start over completely.
Today's example is: Bob Bingham March 12 1947 10:23PM Boston, MA USA . The
1st time I didn't put MA (may I suggest a space for state or province). The
location came up as Covington County Al (US).Then I was given a number of
Bostons to choose from. I chose MA. It came up as Covington County again. So
I started all over,(under person 1)and it still came up as Covington County.
After 2 more tries,I waited until the next day. Last time I had a problem
similar to this,it resolved itself the next day. Not so this time. It starts
out fine,shows the place as Boston,MA with an Asc of 16'Scorpio then prints
out under Covington County AL with an asc of 20'Please remember, I am not
putting this info under person # 2. I didn't on the other chart I had a
problem with either. Thankyou for your time.

When I enter in the field city just 'boston' and leave the country setting
at 'the wohle world', and then press the continue button, I get as reply:
Please select a place from the list of 40 hits.
There is a pulldown list shown which contains 40 cities named Boston.
The first entry (the one you see if you do not open the list) is
Boston (Covington county), Alabama
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Open the list, click on the Boston you want (you have
to scroll down to get to Boston MA).
Now you press the continue button again.
About 12'000 visitors do this every day, when they run their charts on our
server. I cannot see that there is a problem with our software.
dear friends, thank you for your wonderful site. however, as a beginner,
without much(none) knowledge of how to read these charts, i am left with my
mouth wide open. if you could supply a written explanation about what the
charts are saying, than people such as myself can enjoy to much greater
extent your web site.

Great site! I am recommending it to my friends. I would suggest you
provide the option for the user to figure transits in any location, not just
their birth location. Particularly in the US, very few people reside as
adults in the place they were born. I don't know what the situation is in
relation to this in Europe.

misunderstanding. Transits are always computed over the planets and house
cusps of the natal chart, and are therefore totally independent from where
you live. The only thing affected by relocation is the timezone in which the
clock time of a transit is expressed. For example, if you are
born in New York, the daily horoscope will normally express the
exact clock time of your transits also in EST/EDT timezone. If you happen
to live in another timezone now, you must make the conversions. But this
has little practical importance because the actual hour of a transit is
usually irrelevant, except for the transits of the Moon.
If you use the 'Location' area in the data entry form, you can even set
a different location as reference, and the timing of the transits will be
expressed in the timezine of this reference location.
My friend Renee at affordableastrology.com was telling me how impressed she
was with your site, so I came to take a look myself. Extraordinary! You
people are doing a wonderful job, and I am very impressed with the free daily
horoscope you gave me. Right on the button, as far as where I currently

as someone who's interested in becoming a professional astrologer,after 25
study;this wonderous site has given me new perspective on transits. may i
suggest an option of tracing the date of the last aspect to occur within the
existing transits. e.g~ currently i have my ruler in uranus conjunct my
ascendant also about to trine venus. when did uranus square my asc. nospam
semi-sextile venus and what do those aspects mean? this would give those
