AND HERES YET ANOTHER REASON WHY ASTROLOGY HAS NO CREDIBILITY WHAT SO EVER; How can the physical descriptions of a person be determined by a rising sighn, such as body type, hair colour or eye calour.These traits develope over a pierod of nine months while the fetus is in the mothers womb, not at the moment of birth. According to astrology somone may look completly differnt if they where to be born hours from thier original birthtime, this Alois, is impossible because all of this is predetermined.Good Effort though,.

the natal chart u gave me had some differences. Moon is actually in pisces at 15 degrees, 43',52" and others are also somewhat different. Is this going to matter a lot.

This is my first visit. I've just decided to study astrology and I was referred here by the link at Astrology-Numerology.com. The quality of your charts is exceptional. I'm having trouble printing it on an 8-1/2 x 11 page. In Portrait, the right edge is truncated. In Landscape, the chart is cut in half. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Alois adds: Some browsers have stupid limitations when printing. Save the image in a local file, and open and print it with some graphics program which allows to scale to printed image size.


I think that the daily horoscope is greatly improved by now being able to access all the daily transits (new interactive capability?) and very important that the long term major transits are emphasized and always visible. Excellent change - much more viable.

I wanted to write and say that I feel as if I am a day ahead of all of the horoscopes for me. I was born January 22, 1974 at 3:19 am in Winston-Salem, NC. I'm not sure why I am a day ahead, because I am so struggling with the letting go and what happened in the horoscope today was in reality, my yesterday and it still really applies to today as well, Like it said, this is an ongoing process. Hello! This site is beyond a luxury! I've recently mulled over the book of the Jupiter/Saturn conjuction lectures, held in 1981, by Liz Greene and Stephen Arroyo (an awesome book). The next J/S conjunction is due to occur on May 28, 9:06 am (PST) in Taurus. (In the same degree as my natal Venus!!!). I want to know, when I punch in someone's bday and place/time of birth on this website, how come it gives me a different moon then on any other site, where time/place are entered? Which one should I believe, and that may be a stupid question cause of course you are going to say your website is the best one, but why is it that two sources give me two different moons? Alois adds: There can only be one coorect calculation, and so far every claim ofincorrectness could be resolved in our favour. If you do not name the other source, we can hardly check it.

There was daylight savings time at that date in Atlanta, so the Universal time (GMT) is 14.45 (4 hours more), and the Moon is in Pisces indeed, when you use the tropical zodiac of western astrology. A hindu astrologer who uses a fixed star zodiac would see the Moon in Aquarius.

The position of the ascendant is usually not determined by feeling, but by computation. We have learned over the years that there are many false charts out there, and that many people stick rather to their false charts than accepting a correct one. This is a psychological problem we cannot do much about.

We do know how to compute charts, and if you doubt us in this area you may want to visit the Swiss Ephemeris section on our website, read what we know about matters of astronomical calculation, and then confront the source of your false chart.

Thanks for a fantastic site. I have re-disoverd my interest in astrology. I love the choice of charts etc. Asrtoworld maps especially. Just one comment/suggestion. Would it be possible to manual type long/latitudes in the future ? I am used to doing mid-point composite charts as you offer but am not sure how the plain composite chart you do is calculated as the Ascendant comes out quite different on that than from the nidpoint composite....could you explain please ?

Thanks for the great site. I am confused about my ascendant. I was born in Japan, my ascendant calculates as Taurus. However, as an experiment, I entered my birth city as Pontiac, MI with the same time, and my ascendant was still Taurus. If Pontiac is on almost the opposite side of the world from Japan, shouldn't the rising sign be close to Scorpio? How could Taurus be on the horizon at the same time on opposite sides of the world? I would appreciate your help with this. I don't think that the Taurus ascendant really "fits" me anyway. Thanks for your help.

Alois adds: When the Sun is - for example - in taurus, and you do a chart for sun rise, everywhere in the world, which sign will be the rising sign?

What you calls 'the same time' is the same local time, but not the same universal time. 8 am Tokyo is the same time of day as 8 am Pontiac, but it is not at the same moment, as those places are in very different time zones. You are just confused about the term 'the same time'.

I cannot seem to enter the exact latitude and longtitude I want. What if you are born miles from any town listed? The programme offered seems to only let you enter the nearest town. Can this be over-ridden?

Alois adds: No, it cannot be overridden. The problem is much more complex than you may think, as each town needs to be assigned to a specific table representing its timezone and daylight savings time history, and for many countries this has been not unfied at all, but different parts of a country have quite different timezone histories, e.g. according to the change of frontlines during world war II in Europe.

However, moving the location by 10 miles (15 km) has about the same effect on tghe house cusps as moving the time of birth by one minute. If you have a normal birth time which carries an intrinsic uncertainity of 5 minutes, moving gthe location by 50 miles is not a problem.


I am an absolute novice,yet all of it is quite exciting.I will be able to appreciate all this more only if I can atleast understand my own chart.please give explanatory notes to diffrent signs with the individual charts.

I notice that your program doesn't have the daylight savings times for Brazil built in. Specifically, Feb 16, 1954 is in daylight savings time and it doesn't automatically correct for that. I understand that from year to year, daylight savings is implemented for a different period of time, starting as soon as early Oct on some years and as late as December on others.

I must be doing something wrong... I really don't like the new charts.. I push the old style button.. it is good for one time entry then you change time zone and the chart doesn't change???? Thankyou for such a terrific site. It is very generous to offer the public access to different types of charts and as an astrology student, it is a challenge to see how much I can understand. Two questions:
1) Is the transit you choose for the personal daily horoscopes always the strongest of all of the listed transits?

1) no, it would be boring, because many strong transits are prevalent for several weeks or months, and you would get the same every day, just because it is the strongest.
The Persoanl Daily Horoscope is an excerpt from the Personal Horoscope Calendar, which finds a transit for every day of the year. The selection there is balanced so that the are as few repetitions over the year as possible. It has an index where one can look up the readings for the other transits of the current day.
The Daily Horoscope just shows the pages from the full calendar for a few days. What would be ideal - and what is planned for a future version - is a possibility to look up all the other tansits mentioned on a day via links. This feature will be added shortly.

2) It is certainly worthwile, but the Horoscope Calendar is not designed to do it. Some our our printed reports take transits over progressions into account, e.g. the Yearly Horoscope Analysis by Liz Greene, and the Horoscope 2000 by Liz Greene.

This really is very good information, which is otherwise hard to find. The Charts are very nice. Funny to find I'm born on the same day (but other year) as Eddy Wally, a 'famous' singer who's also born in my birthtown Gent. I haven't been able to see a chart for about a week. THe images aren't loading. I get the little x icon where the image should be. this occurs on the first page ( for the map) & on the chart page. The chart calculations you do provide an awesome service. I have a program called Astrolog on my computer but is sort of hard to use and it doesn't provide a nice chart picture. I have a question about the way you calculate the charts. Do you take into consideration the time adjustment that is needed to correct for the location of a city within the time zone? I went to an astrologer once who did this correction and it made all the difference in the world for determining my Ascendent. Without the correction I had 27 degrees Sagitarious rising. With the correction it was 0 degrees Capricorn. The zero degrees capricorn fits me much much better

I was wondering if you have any info., or personal theories about family members having the same birthdate. My biological Father, his wife(who began living with us when I was only 2, and became my stepmother when I was 4) and myself, all share a March 24 birthdate. My biological Mother is still alive and we have never been estranged from eachother, though I have felt extremely abandoned by her at times due to her severe mental illness, and several long term hospitalizations, as well as her repeated suicide attemts. Also, my brother's wife shares the same birth date with our biological Mother. I have searched for answers in several books about Karmic astrology, but have not found any. My chart was done for me but the ascendant was all wrong. I use the tropical insead of Siderial method. I have found it to be more accurate. If I am missing something in my calulation let me know. I am using a program from Christphor J Noyes I got on Internet. It is for professionals and I had the same problem and contacted him and he said I needed to use Tropical. I did and it all turned out with my ascendant 16degrees Scorpio instead of Pisces.

Alois adds: Astrodienst uses the tropical zodiac by default. Other zodiacs are available but surrounded by several warnings in the menu where you can change it.

But most of what you write is quite inconsistent. You cannot get from Scorpio to Pisces by changing from Sidereal to Tropical. The change is one sign at most. I get the feeling that you are using words without understanding of their meaning.

Lieber Alois, ich habe schon zweimal gefragt, leider noch nie Antwort bekommen. Es passiert mir leider sehr oft, daß ich "Radix und Transit für heute" oder "Radix und Progressionen für heute" nach Walter Pullen wähle, und ich bekomme sozusagen doppelte Transits odert doppelte Progressionen (zweimal aktuelles Datum - sowohl für Radix als auch für Transit), obwohl wenn ich (unter derselben Dateneingabe) nur Radix will, kommt es richtig aus (mit dem richtigen Geburtsdatum). Ich habe es heute wieder versucht und ausgedruckt, kann es jede Zeit als Beweis schicken. Es passiert nicht immer und ich kann nicht feststellen, mit was das beinflußt ist. Alois adds: I admit I have some reservations about them. None of the large number of our chart options has them built-in. Maybe it comes from the fact that I am a physicist by training, that I prefer real celestial objects over phantasy points.

You can however use out Swiss Ephemeris test page at http://www.astro.com/swisseph to get a listing of their positions for any chosen date. There are even more fictouse objects there.

Alois adds: I can only give my standard answer: your self-made chart is MOST LIKELY incorrect. Astrodienst would not be what it is after 20 years of service to the astrological community, if we did not know how to compute correct charts.

Most errors come from timezones. The most simple plausibility test for each chart is to look whether the Sun appears on the right position for the time of day given. Most people have an idea where on the sky the Sun should be at, let's say, 10 am on a December morning. This must reflect in its house position in the chart. The Sun has risen at this time but is still far from noon (MC). Most likely it will be in the 11th house.

I really appreciate your free chart service, the number of options for chart selection is truly amazing. But there is one chart option I have not seen and I am wondering if you have it available, that is a optimal relocation chart. One where the computer does the search & tells you where in the world (or in a selected area)that you would have the best potential for experiencing your natal chart in a positive way. Maybe even having it list the top ten locations for certain areas of life or whatever. Is this an option I just have not seen or is it something you would consider adding? Just a thought. I didn't print the chart, but the first clue was that the Asc/MC degrees were off so I went back to check the time I had entered, and reset to do it again. I regret that I didn't print the chart so I could be more specific, but Venus was at 22 Virgo, and it should have been into Libra. I used your software to draw my chart and it came out wrong. I then noticed that it had calculated the wrong GMT. I went back and used the manual timezone, choosing EST (I was born in Miami,FL). Alois adds: It is of course impossible to check anything if you do not give a date. However, I can assure you that your information is most likely incorrect, and our database correct. There are too many false charts around, and people have a sad tendency to stick to them. Using the manual timezone setting to override our database is NOT A GOOD IDEA except when you possess documented proof that our data are incorrect. In that case I would love to receive a copy of your proof. Just the fact that some astrolger out there did your chart differently is no proof at all.

I apologize to all readers who find my answers rude because they are often very short. I have very little time to answer guestbook questions. Personal email which just repeats questions I have already answered in the guestbook sometimes remains unanswered.

I reply usually to claims that our data are incorrect, but I expect that reliable sources are quoted with such claims. Otherwise I will say in most cases that in all likelyhood we know more about the matter of timezones than most.

My question concerns house cusp system;Iwas under the impression that the ascendant and remaining angles were the same in all systems and just the intermediate cusps would change. Doing my chart with the options you provide,I found out that was not true.Although in quite a few it was true.What house cusp system does your service prefer and why is it preferred?

Es ist natürlich sehr schön, mal die Tageseinflüsse anzusehen - das fehlt mir in meinem lokalen PC Programm. Aber wirklich interessant wäre eine deutschsprachige Version der Datenbank!! Alg. WhoooHoo!!! You did it!!! An absolutely wonderful and intelligent site! This was sooo needed! Astrology is a very popular subject on the web and until i found this i had almost given up hope of any intelligent life readings. There are way too many astrology sites out there that tell you nothing in-depth and make astrology sound silly. As an Astrologer who been studying for the past 28 years, Liz Greene and Robert Hand are my two very favorite references. As far as i'm concerned, Liz Greene is a **Five*star** Astrologer and Robert Hand is right behind her with **Four-stars**. I think your web sit sucks! you need to put important imformation, like people in our familys dying, or new loves or old loves. I think your a bunch of phonys myself. You need to get a real life insead of telling people fack and unrealalistic things. So I would recomend changing jobs or get some real fourtun tellers. But this is just my oppion. Maby so people would really fall for some of the stupid things you tell them but I would not recomend for people to come to this web sit becouse it sucks a big one. thanks for nothing cherie....

I enjoy reading the horescopes, but there is too much information about what I don't want to know and to little information about what I do want to know. Maybe you should add actions I need to take on certain days or some kind of signals or people that I should rely on. I would also like to know about my love life. Make this seem like a real reading.

Alois adds: Well, it is directly printed there, if it applies. Try it out. It says under the little checkbox for manual timezone (which you NEVER ought to activate), for example: Time Zone: h2e, Daylight Saving Time.
This is clearer than in the old format, isn't it?


Very interesting. I got Asc = Gemini this time. In the last book I looked in it was Cancer. Is there more than one way to calculate an Ascendant I wonder. Also, it would be quite good if there was a FAQ page on this site. Otherwise, excellent.

Alois adds: It is not good enough to look in a book. There are only two ways to compute the Ascaendant: right and wrong. We do it right.

I agree about the need for an FAQ. Strangely, several people have volunteered to work on it but nobody ever sent a single page back. Maybe my usual request that it should be a HTML file put everybody off. I myself have not the time to do it.
