Be careful! - Users need to take into account "war time" in the US. I do not know what exact years that covers. I was born in 1945 at 1:20 PM (war time) in SF, CA, and I have to use 2:20 PM in your program to get the right answer!!!

Alois adds: Be careful, you are not right. Our server takes war time and daylight savings time automatically into account.
If you look at the yellow bubble in the timezone map picture, it shows 'WarT'
if that applies.

at that time. The Sun is in the 11th house, as it should be for a mid-morning
time.
At 22:36 (evening) you get a Libra ascendant, with the Sun below the
horizon in the 4th house, as fitting for a pre-midnight birth.
One should always check the Sun's quadrant position on the chart, as
this must make sense for the given time of day.

This time my search for the asteroids was successful. A different chart option menu had magically appeared overnight, each option stating "High Quality"! As of yesterday, none of the Chart Options had "HQ" listed. Also, the charts that appeared prior to today, were rather blurry. So, an older version of the program must still have been showing up on the website. The new HQ chart is lovely, so thank you for doing whatever you did! Love it!

up the list far enough. We did change the initial scroll position for your
convenience. I am afraid that
visitors will complain again that the don't find the Pullen charts (they need
to scroll down further now).
I used this site at least ten times today...I probably could not afford to pursue my hobby of astrology if it were not for the availability of this site and the data behind it.

This is my 3rd try for a clear answer here, and I see there are other inquiries as well about the EXACT steps needed to show asteroid placement in the chart. You say HQ charts are the only ones that show the asteroids...where exactly is the HQ option? It is Not listed on the drop down "chart option" menu on the left of the screen on your website. HQ is on the right side of the screen on your website with places to indicate if I want reduced sizing of the chart. Please please clarify this. Thank you

This is a fantastic site! I only have one question. I noticed recently that you have added the options of adding the person's name to the chart as well as their sex. However, when I print out the charts, the name and sex infornmation is not being printed out. Am I missing something?

Dear Alois, I've written to you before concerning the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. I noticed that it is listed as a Pacific Island Trust Territory. When Ronald Reagan was President of the United States it was transfered back to the Marshall Islands and is now reffered to as the "Republic of the Marshall Islands" or "RMI". I don't know if you are interested in changing the way it reads on your site, but if you are, this is the current political designation for this country.

Alois adds: Questions of this type come up occasionally. It is important
to be aware that the purpose of our datbase is NOT to give correct political
assignments of places but to give correct coordinates and timezones.
I could list the island under both countries, but this would involve a lot
of work to create a separate group of places wihin RMI which have a different
time zone history than the rest of RMI.
I like this service, but there's one thing about it that could use some improvement:
Asteroids not commonly used are not shown without landscape format, and that never comes up when I check that box. Some people do want that option--can you work on that?

Re: my previous question about the asteroids. "HQ" or, High Quality is not an option as a chart form on the menu which appears on my screen. So, I entered the "straight line" below the first Pullen option as the "type". Entered the asteroid number in the appropriate area. Still nothing! What isn't there, or, what am I missing? I'm impressed with your charts, however, I was disappointed that I could not find out the placements of certain name asteroids. I read one of the feedback notes that you answered thta said those features are only available on HQ charts (I assume you mean High quality) but I couldn't find out how you choose that type of chart. Alois adds: In its normal settings we do charts in the tropical zodiac,
not in the Hindu-style sidereal zodiac. You can use chart options
however to get the zodiac you prefer.

Dear Astrodienst folks,
I am an astrologer in eastern Pennsylvania. I really appreciate your site and use it often. Thank you for making it available. Primarily I use it to find obsure birth places that my software does not have, and have always found it to be complete and accurate.
Another reason I use your site is to find the correct birth times, i.e. daylight savings. Before you changed your chart style you used to indicate this on the form (as +4 or +5 etc) so it was very clear. With the universal time you use now, it is unclear, so I liked the old format better, and my vote is to revert to that for us astrologers, please.
Today I have a specific question. I cast a chart on my software for Aug. 8, 1941, 11:30 pm, Brookly, New York (Kings Cty)and got that it was EST. I doubted this, and went to your site to recheck, and got a chart with 11 degrees Taurus rising, which indicated it should be EDT. However, my software (when adjusted for the time) gave me a 6 degreee Taurus rising?? I also use Placidus houses. This is the first time I have ever noticed a discrepency. If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Alois adds: Dear Melissa, if you look at the timezone map you get after pressing the 'Update timezone' button,
you see a yellowish bubble in the map which contains the 'time type'. Please click on the map for a help page to read
the data in this bubble. For your date the bubble says 'h4w DST' which means the timezone is 'hours 4 west' Daylight
Savings Time.
The Ascendant is 11 Taurus, so your software must be wrong.
I was born in Dallas, TX on Sept 22, 1962 at 8:12 am. I thought my ascendant was scorpio, but the chart says it is Libra. I haven't gone back to look at the rest of my planets, but many of them seem the same as charted with a scorpio ascendant( e.g. venus in scorpio, etc.) Please advise! Thanks, Patrick

Hi, I am impressed by your service and inspired to study astrology further. I have two queries: in your VIP database Osho's birth place is stated to be a city in India called 'Kuchawara' (it's coordinates are 79e56 23n10) and it is not included in your atlas - is there a format for entering coordinates for a birth place directly?; Also, does anyone know anything of the VIP 'Solenn M Poivre D'Arvor' (we share our birthday)?

timezone tables prevents this - each place does not only have coordinates but
must be assigned a correct timezone table.
For Rajneesh, please try Kuchwada or Jabalpur.

As a student I'm told a Horary Chart is required to ask a question of a future event by refering to a particular house. is the house system critical ? ie Will the equal house system give the same answer as the Placidus?

In matters of a spiritual nature, it is bad karma to demand money for services rendered. Anyone who is able to provide guidance for others is obligated, by the laws of the universe, to do so gladly, and with without charge.
I believe this website offers one of the only free charts on the web, and both the experienced and inexperienced are able to glean from it what they can use.
It is refreshing compared to the mass-marketed astrology one finds in this forum.
At this time, I'm unable to afford having my chart done by a professional astrologer, and I therefore appreciate having this service available to me.

Thank you very much for the chart. I always use your site when I'm far from my home computer were I've got russian astrology software. I have only one question concerning one natal chart (16-11-74, Moscow, 14:00), and would be very grateful if you or anybody else could answer it... In that chart Uranus is in Libra (29.48)in the end of the 7-th house (the 8th cusp is 04 degrees Scorpio). Does Uranus affect somehow the 8-th House and Scorpio? And vice versa - do these chart zones have any influence at Uranus? - Or Uranus in the chart is pure Libra 7-ths house Uranus and nothing more?

I love this site!!!! But I do have one question. In every chart that I have had done (for a particular person) Scorpio is the rising sign. But here it is Libra. And the degrees are a slight bit off from what I see using (for example) a chart made from Astrolog software, or charting it myself (although I am NOT a professional). I am just curious why this may be???
I trust your site, but I am perplexed with the idea that the rising sign could be Libra and not Scorpio! Any thoughts?

Alois - I contacted you for the first time about 2 years ago now, and have accepted that I have early Pisces rising. Yet I have been told AGAIN that I have late Aquarius rising by an astrologer at www.astrologynet.com. The Kepler software they use gives Aquarius as the Ascendant, yet her Solar Fire software at home gives Pisces. I requested her to do the chart by hand (because I have paid for quite a number of charts and all have me listed as Aquarius rising - I want the charts redone if they are incorrect). Her results: "late Aquarius rising".
Aaaaaaaah!!! This is so VERY frustrating. Is there ANY way at all this can be solved CONCLUSIVELY???? and KNOW it's correct? It's driving me NUTS as I am really strongly interested in Astrology (by the way - my hand calculations show Aquarius rising but I'm not a professional, and so did the chart done by an Australian astrologer).
HELP please Alois - I would hate to think that someone gave me incorrect information on somethng as vital (to me) as my Ascendant for the purpose of avoiding changing a reading.
Could you refer me to someone who can do the chart personally rather than using software (I'm a bit disillusioned with them as each package gives me a different Ascendant).
Oh - and happy Solar Eclipse - hope you enjoyed it - it occurred at night-time in the Southern hemisphere, so we missed out. Oh well - I suppose we can share the Grand Fixed Cross though!

Alois adds: Conjunctions in ecliptic longitude and equatorial longitude
(aka rectascension) do not occur at preciseley the same time if one of
the bodies has a non-zero ecliptic latitude.
Sometimes I cannot update the time zone because it says that it is blocked by Surfwatch. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it won't update at all. I have followed the directions for Mac and still it does not work sometimes. I would like to know what the reason is and what to do to fix the problem. I am in a company on a network. If it didn't work at all, I could understand, but why sometimes and sometimes not?? I really enjoy the charts and want to use them. Please give me some input as to how to fix.

I have found your free charts to be extemely useful. I still prefer the Astrolog charts over the High Quality charts because Astrolog is more customizable. Here's my suggestion: Add an option that allows the user to control the allowable orbs for aspects. I personally believe that all orbs should be the same, no matter what aspect you're looking for.

birth you have is correct, then I'd like to share with you my experience.
My ascendant is leo - with venus in aries in trine to it, but venus is
square to the moon in capricorn, aries is also my saturn sign. I could
identify with the moon bit, but not with the venus, or ascendant. Then
later, after some heavy transits, they became more obvious - though it was
hard work to integrate them into my life because they are very different
ways of looking at things, it was especially hard because aries was my
saturn side and I had a lot of lessons (and still do) to learn about
expressing the aries side of myself. I think this may be similar to your
own case. It seems life experience seems to cause us to suppress parts of
our personality - which means that parts of our chart are not expressed.
It takes time to come to learn about ourselves - often through some of the
harder lessons in life - and sometimes it can be hard to face a part of
ourselves that we don't like very much. Look to the future - look at
yourself and your chart when a transit or progression triggers off that
part of your chart. I have a friend who denies she was like a part of her
chart that I described (mars conjunct pluto in 2nd house). She
compulsively shopped - spending even all her and her husbands holiday
money on dresses - she was having dreams of being chased by tigers, and
amongst other things virtually idolised an actor because he was so
"intense" and masculine. All these things are the signs that she is just
starting to get in touch with her mars side, despite the fact that she is
in her 50s. I think it was Liz Greene who wrote something about how our
chart shows our potential, but not what we have done with that potential.
If there is a big emphasis on parts of the chart then other parts may be
neglected - especially if they don't fit in with the rest of our
personality or social circumstances. Maybe you've suppressed some parts of
yourself because you are afraid of expressing them - if so, then one day
maybe you'll become ready to face and accept them. I wish you all the
best. :-)

with in what regions/timezones will it occur? Looking through the chart,
in the Pacific time zone of the United States, the event (though, of
course, unseen there) will occur around 4:08 am--correct? I'm surprised
that there is hardly any talk about this and the resulting Grand
Cross/Square, with the Sun/Moon in Leo, Uranus in Aquarius, Mars in
Scorpio, and Saturn in Taurus--with Mercury and Venus lately closing in on
the Sun from opposite sides, and Neptune and Jupiter also in Aquarius and
Taurus, respectively. How rare is this event? Thanks!!!

Hello! Congratulations on your site for its proficiency and
sharpness!
I believe this type of feed-back is only for light comments or very
specific questions. My comment is based on my personal disillusion with
my own chart; a friend astrologer had made me my chart a few months ago,
and yours corroborates it: the trouble is that I cannot possibly relate to
it in the vast majority of its reading; the reading seems to be talking
about someone else tottally different than myself - how bizarre!! The
chart brings up a personality with a lot of negativity surrounding it, and
this is not who I've been or am!! As an enthusiast and studious of
astrology, with a very developed intuition for inter-personal
relationships, I feel let down by the stars themselves, and it seems that
my own ascendant is an obscure stranger.
I kindly ask you have any suggestions or helpful advise about this matter.

Your site has been most helpfull as I am attempting to document my own
ongoing personnal apocolypse and initiation of my saturn return.
Ive got a particularly badly aspected Saturn; my chart looks much like a
rendering of the Hanged Man. Saturn Retrograde, in almost exact opposition
(2 degrees off) to my Sun,Mercury,Neptune, and Venus in Scorpio; 12th
House. But what really makes the crucifixition complete is the T square
formed by my Mars in Aquarius;3rd house.
8 months ago, the love of my life divorced me,to leave me for a
virgin princess (member of the late King Hussains' family), relieving me
of my house, truck and everything inbetween; his parting gifts to me
consisted of a concussion and 3 fractured ribs. Following this, my oldest
friend died inexplicably in his sleep, my fraternity betrayed me,
altogether all but 1/2 a handfull of my friends are either dead or in
prison; I have more conversations with the dead than anyone else.
But here's the best, dig this: just this morning my mother borrowed my
car to drive my little brother to school and was broadsided by some evil
bitch doing 65 in a school zone;my brother had just stepped away from the
car and would have been surely killed had it happened just a few seconds
before it did. I wonder if you can guess what kind of car I drive?
I'm facing my 30th birthday soon and I'm wondering when this will end
and what will be left when it does. Is there anyone out there who's
experienced a transit like this; I'm ready to climb the Golden Gate and
start firing at random.

Could there be a mistake somewhere in the data forming the basis for
your chart calculation? I have ordered my natal chart from many
astrologers (now I am dealing with other people's charts myself) and they
all have indicated that my ascendent is Sagittarius. With your free chart
tool it shows it should be Lion instead. I ended up with a chart similar
to those I already have, when I stated my birthtime to 12 hours later than
it actually was.
I would appreciate your comments.

though. My mother (who I love so much )is very old (54) which old in my
