i can't believe how amazing your web site is,and can't believe my good fortune at finding it.that jupiter venus conjunction was so beautiful from nantucket, thirty miles out in the atlantic.we have some visits from a couple of wonderful astrologers here, namely don cerrow of athena's web,and also jacob schwartz author of the asteroid name dictionary.i am wondering wha that jupiter venus conjunction would mean for a 2 degree sagittarian ascendant with venus at 9 sag trine jupiter at 7 aries natally.just a nice day or something wonderful?i am a singer and songwriter and the subject matter is of the heart and the stars.,very often.hope you are okay after the avalanches.thank you again li

i really enjoyed the fact that you gave natal charts for free. i have been looking ALL over for a natal chart that didn't cost as much as $30. i am very thankful that you put that much effort into peoples interests.

This is a fantastic service! I've been trying to use various "book-learning" methods to cast charts, and I've had only limited success. Now, I can use your service to compare against and I can hone my skills! Of course, I'll probably always use your service - just to make sure!

I was born in Bombay, India. I know my birthchart. My question is that it matches very well when I use the Hindu Geocentric system, but it doesn't match when I use the Western Geocentric system. In both cases, I specified my birth place as Bombay. I do not understand which system I should use and why? I would appreciate if somebody could comment on this.

Hi, Thanks Alois for answering to my first part of the question! The second part was-- the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on February 23rd, 99, was supposed to be the SAME as at the time of Christ??? What do you know about that?? Greetings Ingeborg

Ingeborg [ *metro.net ]
Calistoga, USA --- Friday, February 26, 1999 at 17:58 Swiss time

Alois adds: birth charts of Jesus Christ are totally speculative - we do not even know the year. Venus and Jupiter conjunctions occur at least once a year!

Hi, Found tonight you VERY interesting site, bookmarked it and have 2 questions! 1.) You said You are cutoff by an avalance?? WHERE??? 2.) I have been told that the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on 23. February is the same as it was at the time of Christ,s birth?? Is this true?? Hope You are out of snow troubles by now! Love to hear from You!! Thanks

Alois adds: I should have been more precise - it was not that dramatic. The road and rail connection to Davos (Switzerland) was blocked for four days due to danger of avalanches, but so far nothing actually happened. Now the road is open again and I can go home tomorrow from my ski vacation.

Hello, My name is Sarah Klee. I thought it was interesting that I found out about this site because I really didn't know that other people did chart's for free besides me. I think that everyone should know about Astrology and that it's not all as General as the stuff you read in the newspapers. I have been studying Astrology since I was 16 and I love to talk about it with people especially when they ask me questions (Preferably ones that I can answer). I am a Scorpio, (11/7/1979 6:20pm Sacramento California) with a Gemini rising and a Cancer Moon. I am very grateful for this site because my program has Lat/Long of only about three towns in each state, therefore I can't get totally accurate charts. The only problem with that, that I've had is when I did my Step-sister's chart and it showed her rising was Taurus, but it's really Gemini. Also, is there a way that I could print out the charts and get the stuff on the right side too, when I print them it chops that off, and it's really a pain to have to write that out. My program does not show Retrograde planets or Chiron. One more thing, do you know of Paul Klee the Artist? He is a Sagittarius with a Pisces Moon. He is, or should I say, was a distant relative of mine. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful information, and do you plan on improving it in any way? Your Scorpio Friend, Sarah Klee

I notice that you are offering a new report by Liz Greene, the Year 2000 report. When I clicked on it to see more info, it reverted to the Yearly Horoscope Analysis report info. Does this mean that if you have already ordered a yearly horoscope analysis for yourself for the year 2000, starting at the beginning of February, that the Year 2000 report would be essentially identical? Just checking before I order. Thanks for your help.

Pamela Young [ pam.*sympatico.ca ]

Alois adds: The catalogue page for the Horoscope 2000 has not been completed. It is a six-year report covering 1999 - 2004 and while it contains some elements found also in the Yearly Horoscope Analysis, it is a quite different report.

I am currently on a ski vacation and actually enclosed by avalanches, but I will update the catalogue pages next week if it is possible to go down to Zurich again from Davos.

This site sucks big time for there is no place that exists where I was born. You should familiarize yourself with all countries through out the world so that surfers would be able to find even the smallest country where they were born. I found that there was nothing to be found in the Caribbean or the West Indies.

as anybody can agree with - this is one of the good things at the net. I've been asked "how can the planets control our lives?" The answer is "they don't, they just show the time" - something lika the hands at the clock - if you pulled the hands away from it, the time would still be ten minutes before your bus leaves, and you're acting as a choleric. Does anybody hav a good explanation of the effects of the exact conjunktion between Venus and Jupiter today - the 23 of february? They are in the sign of Aries - not too much of a chance for the beauty - is there? Thanks again web folks! S

I needed to get a copy of a Vedic chart...but it gives and incorrect ascendant i.e. the planets are set back about 25 degrees as expected, but the ascendant is pushed back 39 degrees. I expected it to be set back about 25 degrees. The birth date is 5 Feb 1989 23:06 GMT. Is the ascendant supposed to be set back that far? Thank you.

Wonderful site. I'm putting a link to it from my page. A great time-savor for all astrologers - professional & amature alike. The chart print-out is beautiful, unlike old-style fill-in the wheel by hand. Love the chart options too (eg. I was curious what the "R" stands for on the chart. I can figure everything else out, but the "R" seems important. If there is any way you could let me know what that means I would be indebted! Also, I am curious also if I can get an analasys w/o a credit card. P.S. Great site!!

this is a wonderful site, the best astrological site i've seen. i would like to see more flexibility with the secondary progressions. it would be useful to have the option to progress a chart to any date rather than being limited to the present day.

nick dagan best [ *aol.com ]
manhattan, ny, usa --- Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at 16:15 Swiss time

Alois adds: You can use a simple trick: one progressed year is the chart of one day after birth. Just add 40 days to your birthdate, and run a natal chart for this date. It gives you the progressed chart for your 40th birthday. Same for any other date you may choose; fractions of years correspond to fractions of days.

I don't see how to get any of the basic astronomical data for a chart. Am I missing something? The same goes for harmonics, midpoints, and dynamic astrology charts. And, of course, it would be really great to have the new elements, those coming from Project Hindsight and ARHAT available.

Good evening. I always surf to your page and use the free chart service. I just begin studying astrology for about two week. Last week i try the commercial astrology service from one of the most popular site in the net and i found out that datas in the commercial site chart and your free service chart is differrent. I wast born at " Alor Setar, Malaysia " on February 2, 1975 at 6:16 pm ***The lattitude and longitude is same but Here the different: Your free chart : AC 3Leo42'39" 2nd house 2Vir40'11" ... MC 6Tau11'26" .....and many more The commercial site service: AC 11Leo08'14" MC 14Tau07'43" Planets position is almost same but house position is differrent. *** From above it seems like the the house position is different as much as 7 degree!! As a student i didn't have money to buy expensive software... and for me the servive that you provide is very valuable but it's useless if it is not accurate. **Please check this out. Thank you for this excellent site! I don't have a computer of my own or couldn't afford to pay for charts, so this free and accurate chartmaker is totally essential to me! Great, absolutely great! But I have one question. Why doesn't the program automatically show the placement of the MC? Even if you take the option it doesn't tell the exact degree. As I use Equal Houses, I always have to run a Placidus chart to find out the exact MC position. No, it's not such a lot of trouble, but I wonder.. Anyway, thanks again!

Tampere, Finland --- Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at 12:05 Swiss time

Alois adds: On the chart selection page, you can check the box for 'include aspects to Chiron, Node, Asc and MC'. If you do this, the MC will be inserted as a separate point even with equal houses. You have all those additional aspect lines, though. This is just the way the Astrolog program does its charts. I agree with you that it ought to be done differently.

As a longtime skeptic-student of astrology, I find the accuracy and range of your calculations laudable. I learned trigonometry to aid my own calculation, your service's accuracy, and the historic range of your ephemerides, past and future, gives me more time for study and comparison of event charts. No wonder you Swiss are famous for clockwork accuracy! Thank you for providing this rare service to the public.

J.T. [ *erols.com ]

Vielen, vielen Dank. I have heard that that it is important to have a strong bond here eg Venus Taurus (Frau) and Mars Virgo ( Mann)in order to have a long-standing relationship, that is as a secondary to the Sun-Moon link. I think that your service is great. mit herzlichen Gruessen Ihre Nina

Nina Taylor [ *student.uq.edu.au ]
Melbourne, Australia --- Saturday, February 13, 1999 at 05:36 Swiss time

Alois adds: Dear Nina, a good Venus-Mars connection is certainly helpful in a relationship, particularily for the sexual attraction. However, relationships are very complex patterns between two people, and to describe them on the basis of isolated chart factors is only of limited value. People seem to possess incredible creativity about what binds them together; you probably find as many Saturn-bondings as you find Mars-Venus, just to give an example. Sexual attraction is important to bring you together, but to stay that way requires that your whole personality setup finds enough material for interweaving yourself with the other. Even that is not true - some couples live happily besides each other like to pieces of furniture in the house. This 'leaving each other alone' can also be called a functioning way of interweaving. I write this not to describe an ideal relationship - whatever that may be - but just to illuminate the wide range of possibilities we seem to have to form and hold a bond.

Great site, well planned and executed! Glad to see a very professional helpful page and excellent data and time zone resource for those oft moments I get into zonal confusion! Dear Astrodienst, Could you please be so kind as to try to answser my question. I am a sagittarius,(1958 10 of december time 10.12 in the morning) 40 years old and I am together with a Leo, born 1951-08-20 in the morning. We have been together for 11 years but he is very afraid to take responsibility for our relationship. I have a son, 17 years-old, and "my" Leo always manage to "talk his way out" when I will discuss moving together and such things. Do you think that this is common for Leo´s or is it my boyfriend who is terrified to take responsibility??? Kind regards, Liselott

If you just want to understand your Leo friend better, the Psychological Horoscope Analysis is highly recommended.

For ordering, pleaso go to the order section (AstroShop), for more general information about these reports please browse in our catalogue or read complete samples in the samples section.

Hi--Am very interested in obtaining charts from you. A concern is that your order page is not secure. I hesitate to send credit card information from it and will order via mail. Will you have a secure order page in the future, and will one eventually be able to download reports from your site rather than ordering via "snail mail"? Thanks!

Susanna [ *primeline.com ]
Arden, NC --- Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at 15:49 Swiss time

Alois adds: Dear Susanna, we do not consider the risks of email transmission of card information as such a big issue. No problems were ever reported to us. Any use of a credit card, in a shop for example, exposes its details to potentially many people (staff etc).

However, our online form allows to write instead the credit card number the words 'by fax'. Then you will receive on the reply page the instruction where to fax your card details to. Faxing is certainly save.

We are working on an email delivery for our reports. We consider good printing, binding an packaging an important detail - valuable content and external form are in a correspondence. Therefore we plan to keep up the physical delivery as well; advance email will just be an additional option.

Astrodienst operates since 19 years, and most of our output file formats are proprietary formats especially for the printers we use. We are in the process of converting our file formats to standards like PDF which allow remote printing while keeping high quality of appearance and layout.

Chicago, U.S.A. --- Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at 08:07 Swiss time

Alois adds: Dear Jannan, the purpose of our chart web server is that people can do their chart easily themselves. What do you need to do?
- go to our atlas page, www.astro.com/atlas/
- enter something like 'banja' and press ENTER or the SUBMIT button
- you see a list of towns starting with 'banja' and select the one you want by clicking on it
- you get a timezone page with fields for date and time entry. You enter your birth date and time and then press the UPDATE TIMEZONE button
- you get a similar page again, but now with the timezone set correctly for the place and date you had selected. If you scroll down, you can read below the map image the Sun sign and the Aszendant - your question will be answered.
- if you click on the side on the link 'Show the chart', you get a chart drawing. There you can read the position of your Sun preciseley: Taurus 0 degrees, 07 minutes, 38 seconds. Because the Sun moves one degree per day, or 2.5 minutes per hour, it means that it has been in Taurus since three hours before you were born.

Thankyou for your explaination , but it has only partially unclouded the the issue of the Ascendant in relation to the Eastern Horizon in extreme Northern Hemispheres. In the example that I citied (04.02.99 ,07.18CET, Narvik), the ascendant halted at 7 degrees Sagittarius before switching polar opposite signs to the same degree of Gemini, placing the Sun from below in the East to setting in the West. You said that the signs of Sagittarius,Gemini, Capricorn and Cancer can not rise in such northerly latitudes: does this mean that Aquarius, Pisces, Aries and Taurus do not rise either, as these signs lie between those signs you mention?? I am due to draw up three charts, two for Norway and one for Iceland in the next few days, even though I use equal house system when using your system to erect my charts, the entire question of how the Sun or Ascendants can get over the eastern horizon in these places has left me stumped as to the accuracy of what I put down as the correct ruler of the First House as the true ascendant ( or Decendant???). Definately in need of furtherclarification, Your's sincerely, Glenn.

Thanks for a great site , though I fear I have a question which may have more to do with my ignorance than your program. When I was checking some data I was interested in the far north of the world and decided to enter the position of planets in Navik, Norway, on the said date 04.02.99. I got a little perplexed by the fact that everything seemed normal ascendant-wise from 00:00 CET to 07:18 CET when the ascendant suddenly jumped half-a-dozen signs from 7 degrees Sagittarius to 7 degrees Gemini!! To make matters more confusing the chart still read Sagittarius as the cusp of the first house and as I entered more progressive times the signs continued to go backwards until Capricorn and then suddenly it skipped half-a-dozen signs again to Cancer!! I checked this on blank charts using the said ascendants and the Sun was skipping all over the place hemisphere-wise.I know the polar regions have distorted daylight hours, and indeed with 'rare' ascendants for extreme Northern countries things may go a bit askew but I found this too crazy to fathom!! Do I have to read these charts from the opposite direction and then back again ?? You could be a great help to me if you could give me a clear explaination for this confusing state of affairs.

Glenn Micheal Patrick [ alleycat_*hotmail.com ]
Dublin, Ireland --- Friday, February 5, 1999 at 19:46 Swiss time

Alois adds: Narvik is at 68.5 degrees north, which is north of the Polar circle in the area where things like midnight Sun and polar night happen. Some sections of the zodiac (Gemini, Cancer) are there always above the horizon, some sections (Sagittarius, Capricorn) always below. They never cross the horizon, one cannot have an Ascendant in those signs. The behaviour of signs and houses is very odd. Placidus houses cannot be computed for such latitudes and the house system automatically defaults to Porphyry.

The Astrolog program by Walter Pullen, which draws the charts, may even have odd behaviour implemented on its own and differes from the Aszendant calculation from our own program which creates the value shown on the timezone page.

Alois adds: Dear Judy, so far all complaints about inaccurracies have proven to be based on user errors. We make a serious effort to exclude even those, but there are limits. About 2.5 Million charts have been computed with this system since it went online in 1996. You should see the number of complaints in relation with this figure.

Alois, In response to your letter to me, let me just add that I based my observations on the responses I read for that day and time. I had said that most of your responses were rude, if that word offends you, sorry, how about curt, short, sharp, or, as you put it 'annoyed'. That is and was not false public accusation. I also never said one item about your site or you (just many of your responses) to be ill-informed or lacking in any way. I found it to be, say, depressing, to read your many [at that day/time] less than happy responses. You did say that you do find it hard to 'keep your tongue'. (I can understand based on some of the questions) We all have our 'negative' times, perhaps I found such a time with you when I was 'touchy' on mine. Which is more relevant, a person's natal chart and the influence of planets in sectors based on the sun sign or the placement of planets in houses as determined by the ascendent? For instance, my sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are all in Sagittarius (9th sector) but my ascendent is Cancer, which places them in my 6th house. Also, how should one read their progressed chart? I was born in 1963 which places my progressed sun in Capricorn. Does this mean that I am experiencing the effects of Capricorn transits? I understand that the answers to these questions would be enough to fill a book, but if you have time, would you give me a brief explaination? (P.S. If you know of a good book relating to this topic, please let me know.) Thanks!
