I have one question, how come aspects to the Nodes, Chiron, and the Angles are not shown?

I have now added an option in the chart selection form to allow inclusion of

I had my natal chart made and I am quite happy with the result, thank you! I did have a problem as I do not know which House System, Placidus, Equal, etc I should have chosen?!
Also, as in your directions read, there may be difficulties with southern and eastern langitudes and longitudes. My latitude is 61.08 North and longitude 21.30 East. As the longitude I used North and wrote -21 degrees 30 min but then the chart showed -2 GMT which should be +2 GMT (Finland). Now I do not know how correct my chart is! What did I do wrong?

Alois adds: The best is to keep the default settings, but you may choose any house system you like.
I do not understand your question about longitude. It comes automatically from the atlas,
there is no place where you could modify it on our server.
Local time Finland = GMT + 2 hours
GMT = local time Finland - 2 hours
is the same statement, so some programs like to write +, some -. We tend to write E and
W also for timezones, to avoid this confusion.
If you run a chart on our server, and enter the correct date, the chart is correct.

made the warning against this selection stronger, so I hope fewer people
will try it and then be confused (there is however a widespread tendency to try the forbidden fruit).
I have gotten all the info correct for my birthstats and yet your values list me as a Libra sun sign. I am a Virgo and under all other charts I've used have been listed as a Virgo. I will conceed, however, that I am a Cusp. Please explain? Thank You.

forgive the greeness of these questions but i am just a beginner. I am still a little confused as to the effectual difference between our sun and rising signs. One is supposed to denote who we are (ego, soul etc) the other the vehicle in which our soul has chosen to ride (veneer, form of expression etc...) If this interpretation is correct, how do i disseminate and use the information presented in my sun verses that of my moon? Ascending charts often seem to present profiles in the same pattern and phraseology as that of the sun signs; which ones do we address in order to improve our person ie. which are mutable?....
one more question. When does the percentile on an ascending sign suggest compromise by another house ie is 5percent Libra in the ascending, a small portion of Virgo...?

This is a greatly educational site. Very useful and very accurate. My ex-boyfriend knew of my interest in astrology and ordered a relationship horoscope as a surprise gift for me. It was one of the nicest surprises and it was incredibly accurate. My questions: it talks about feedback.Where do I address feedback? I am not exactly a beginner in astrology and would have liked to see the astrological keys included, not just the interpretation. I figured most of them out by inductive reasoning since I know how to look at charts, but the help of a professional would be much appreciated. Also, any mentors available for eager and interested students? I have some very specific questions at times, and I would have liked to have a direct line with someone even concerning the relationship horoscope I received....anybody available?
One last query: do you have discounts for more horoscopes in the same family? I would like to order 4 for people in my family, and was wondering if you have specials.
Great site....I advertise it.

My criticism was correct, although misdirected in this case. I mistook the line under the sample chart 'The Sun is in the sign Scorpio' as meaning 'The Sun is in the constelation Scorpio'. It was my understanding that the degree of the Sun along the ecliptic superimposed on the constelations with an Earth perspective was the fundamental root of Astrology. Apparently this has changed. My apologies for making an assumption without fully reviewing the relevant data.
I'm guessing sometime after precession was discovered (Kepler?), the vernal equinox became the zero point for the cycle of houses. This does render precession irrelevant, but also raises another question. The basic personality types were derived from the old Sun-in-constelation method. ie: In 1000BC Babylon, they noticed that when the Sun was in Aquarius, heavy rainfall was prevelant, hence the waterbearer. Is this probable method of ascribing traits congruent with your beliefs? If so, the old traits could not be carried over into the modern method, since they are all referenced to the S-I-C method. If the Babylonian had looked up in the same month 2000 years earlier, Pisces would be the water bearer.
I also must apologize for the tone of my first post. It is never my intent to condescend, my criticism and curiosity are sincere. Thank you for the stimulating site. Keep up the search.
Ian Crabtree [ *aol.com ]

Alois adds: I suggest you stop the guessing and study for a few years before
you talk again on a subject you have so little knowledge about.
Precession was discovered by Hipparchos in 134 BC. [see the 'Astro Dictionary'
on top of the page and enter 'Hipp']
Aquarius is an AIR sign and has no relation to water except its name.

Alois adds: I recommend that you follow up ads in The Mountain Astrologer
magazine to find the kind of reader you are looking for.
How is it that your chart displays's the sun being in Scorpio on my DOB Nov 15, 1972 when in fact it was dead in the middle of Libra on that date? About 2,000 years ago the sun was in Scorpio on Nov 15, but not now.
The Earth wobbles on it's axis causing the equinoxes to appear earlier and earlier very slightly each year. A full cyle takes about 24,000 years.
I neither discount nor accept Astology totally, but if your going to dedicate so much effort into making the system work, at least acknowledge the facts. Science is not everything but closing your eyes to fact will lead you only to falsity.
Keep up the search.
Ian Crabtree [ *aol.com ]
Lake Mary, FL, USA --- Friday, December 18, 1998 at 03:03 Swiss time
Alois adds: Thank you for your effort to share your scientific wisdom,
Mr Crabtree. I happen to know a little about science myself, as I could
not avoid it during my path to a PhD in physics at the Federal Institute
of Technology in Zurich. The lack of knowledge
may however be on your side in this matter of celestial coordinate systems.
Astronomers and western astrologers use the tropical zodiac as system of
measurement. This zodiac is not bound to the fixed star constellations, but
starts at the Vernal Equinox, which does move indeed. A 'sign' in the
tropical zodiac is nothing but the name of a 30-degree circle segment.
The signs reflect the rhythm of the annual path of the Sun over the skay,
as seen from
Earth. Astrology as we know it deals with the rhythms of the movements in
our solar system, not with the remote fixed stars.
Pay a visit to our Swiss Ephemeris pages to learn
a little about the science of celestial coordinate systems. The movement of
Equinoxes is not 'apparent', but 'true'.
There are astrologers, called siderealists, who use the fixed star zodiac
instead; this traditionalist view is particularily widespread among
Hindus. It may be that it satisfies your semi-digested 'scientific' views
better? They do ignore the precession of the equinoxes and continue since
two thousand years to measure the planet's positions relative to fixed star
constellations. They have a little problem to define the zero-point of their
frame of reference, so that there are many slightly different scales of
measurement in use, but never mind.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

VERY impressive site. Once I got the hang of filling in my birth data AND reading the rest of the directions, I was able to see more versions of my own natal chart than I'd ever thought possible. Have been a "practicing" astrologer for over 10 years, with an interest stretching back much further. Haven't been able to keep up with the demands by new clients, because I only do astrology part-time. You can be sure that I will recommend this site to a number of them. I may need to check back on some of the charts I have done in the past, because 2 or 3 kept me pretty crossed up as to whether or not DST or wartime was in effect. Thanks again, and nice to find/meet you!
Sincerely yours,

I agree with every thing Rosa Hendrickson wrote. It seems to me that she is an inspiring young women who should go for her dreams. I agree that this is a great website that should be viewed more often. If only all astronomy lovers knew about it. It is, As Rosa Hendrickson says, Truely a great website. One day I decided to get on the internet to see what I could find. I have always been interested in Astronomy. In eighth grade, I did my graduation projevt on it and found that it was fasinating. Being in 9th grade now, I still love the celestrial wonders that go on in our universe. The web site was a great find for me and I will surely use it often. hi your chart seems to be one hour out for my birthday 25/04/67, Nottingham,England 5.30am. All other charts i have done are always the same, taurus rising etc, and I think maybe yours is still taking into account daylight saving time on that date incorectly. Is that possible?
Thanks anyway

Your chart calculation for Aug 15 1947, Hornell, NY, appears to be off by one hour, according to Doane's "Time Changes in the USA", which states that that area was on EDT, not EST, from 4/27-9/28. I know that New York was inconsistent then, but the details are quite specific in Doane's book. Any idea why the difference from your calculation?
Allison
--- Tuesday, December 8, 1998 at 00:27 Swiss time
Alois adds: According to the ACS database we use, Hornell belongs to
a group of towns in Steuben county NY which did not observe DST from 1947 to
1950.
The members of this little group are:
hornell,NY,42n20,77w40
hornellsville,NY,42n20,77w40
north hornell,NY,42n21,77w40
south hornell,NY,42n18,77w39
stephens mills,NY,42n20,77w40
webbs crossing,NY,42n22,77w41
I think this detailed information is more reliable than the general
state-wide rules which Doane can offer. Her data are simplified and not complete.

It is a stupidity of the registrar person to write down CST, as this creates
confusion. Did the registrar convert from CDT to CST before writing it down?
I assume not. What the registrar probably meant was 'your where born

About Daylight Savings Time, you were correct. I did an internet search and found out that Daylight Savings Time has a very chaotic history. And 1974 was a special year in that regard. It annoys me that the governments played around with and changed the rules of time so carelessly. Thanks for letting me know about this.

Alois adds: You have no idea yet how complex timezone history was. Not the
federal goverment is the guilty part, at the contrary. Since the Uniform
Timezone Act in 1966 the daylight savings time in most US states has
been very regular. The main problems are those states where the Daylight
Savings time was determined on COUNTY level for a large part of this
century. We need thousands of different tables for different counties
in the US to represent this mess. The local people are responsible for it,
not Washington.
We and companies like ACS in San Diego are the professionals in this field
of history. Usually you can rely on us.
This is a wonderful service you are sharing. Do you keep information we add to your database? I only cast my chart yearly at my birthday, a progressed and a regressed chart are overlayed to the natal for an analysis of trends and karmic patterns ahead. This usually took me a full day (8 hours) but thanks to your service, the calculations for the charts was done in MINUTES so I now have much more time to concentrate on the interpretation part. Bless you all.

Sorry for the long confusing explanation in the last message. Basically, when you enter in Ventura, CA: 7 Feb 1974, 8:57 AM into the program, the little bubble says "h7w DST" when it should say "h8w Std." And instead of showing my Ascendant 3 deg in Aries like it should, it shows it 10 deg in Pisces (because it thinks I mean 8:57 AM DST when I really mean 8:57 AM Std). Hope that helps. Thanks. :)

and Dayligh Savings Time started on January 6th 1974.
Hi. I just found this site and I think it's great, and you do a great service to everybody who's interested in astrology.
But there seems to be an error for my particular date and place of birth. The chart generated by this program and the chart I made for myself, very carefully following the directions in "Parkers' Astrology" by Julia and Derek Parker, don't match, and it seems to be because it thinks the time I give is Daylight Savings when it's actually Standard Time. I was born in Ventura, CA on Feb 7, 1974, at 8:57 AM. When I enter that info into the program, and click on "Update Time Zone", the little bubble shows that it thinks I mean DST, and therefore it is converting the 8:57 AM to 7:57 AM (which is what it would be for Standard Time if it really were DST). But in winter months in the USA, we are in Std. time, not DST. When I enter 9:57 AM for this program, instead of 8:57 AM, *then* I get exactly the same chart from this program that I got by hand following my trusty Parkers' Astrology book. Would you check out this error and see if you could explain it? In a nutshell, the program seems to determine incorrectly that a time entered is DST when it's really Std. Time (at least for my particular birth date, time and location). Aside from that one problem, this site is perfect! (My rising sign really is Aries, not Pisces, according to the chart I calculated from the Parkers' Astrology book.)
