I Recently printed a natal chart for my husband, and he had the same sign in two different houses. In my astrology book the ascendant is placed on the cusp of the first house, and the rest of the signs are arranged in counterclockwise order--each one representing a house. How is it possible that two houses can have the same sign? (His Birthday is October 19, 1968 * 02:27 in Wurzburg, Germany)

Your astrology book uses the 'equal house' system, with each house 30
degrees.
Most astrologers use other, unequal, house systems, e.g. Placidus.
Particularily in Europe only few astrologers use equal houses.
When you choose the 'select chart type' menu on our server, you can make

I am very grateful that you provide this service. I have been able to help several people gain insight into their personalities and purpose in life thanks to being able to do their charts. Sounds a bit self serving but I do think most people have benefitted from seeing themselves as astrology can describe them. I know I did.

I want to say that the name that appears in your database for my city (VICH) is a reminiscence of the ancient dictature of general Franco.
At the moment this city is called simply VIC. I only ask If you can correct this.
The idea of this web is very nice. Thank you!

Vic, Spain --- Wednesday, February 25, 1998 at 20:41 Swiss time
Alois adds:
Your wish is fulfilled.
Our policy is somewhat different from what you might expect, though.
We duplicate the city under two different names, Vic AND Vich.
If once the name was Vich, people who were born at that time may want to
find it under this historical name on their birth chart.
At the same time, people who are born later, or have political issues
like de-colonization or anti-Francism/Faschism, have a right to the new name.
I hope you understand.

Alois adds:
If you don't know the timezone, there is no way to do the chart.
All ships have timezones they follow, either adjusted daily, or adjusted in one
step at the beginning or end of a trip.
If you had the timezone, and the name of the ship, I would enter this
ship's location into our city database, so that you could run a chart.
We do not provide a way to enter user defined long/lat in the web atlas,
because a pair of coordinates is not worth much without the timezone (history)
which goes with it.
This is a wonderful service! The selection of charts is the largest I have found on the net.

We have considerable problems to get reliable timezone information
for Russia and all of former Soviet Union.
We would like to receive copies from official sources.
Russian astrologers have promised us various times to send us such information
but never kept this promise.
Is there no good astrology text containing an overview of all timezones
and summer time rules for Russia in this century? It is a shame for this
science oriented country not to make such sources available.
So far we have only the database from ACS, San Diego which is known to

This service is excellent and very informative. I was however curious about my time of birth in April 1968 becaue during that summer the British government brought in Double Summer Time as an experiment for the summer. I am quite disappointed. I just tested your free chart service using several different peoples data: They ALL came out completely wrong.
Ie. I am born in Copenhagen, Nov. 28, 1970 at 5:24 - I came out with cancer ascendant. According to the Liz Greene hororscope that I ordered from you guys a couple of months ago, I am scorpio ascendant. I tried it with a guy born on Madagascar on Dec. 30, 1953 at 12.30, and it came out with a gemini ascendant ,he is libra asc.

There is no error, I just now repeated what you told me:
serach for Copenhagen, Denmark,
enter 28 November 1970, 05:24
press the UPDATE TIMEZONE button
then, when the new timezone page appears, press the 'show chart'
button.
It shows your chart with 6 degrees scorpio Ascendant.
I don't know what your error was, probably you forgot to press
the UPDATE TIMEZONE button. Therefore the birth date/time you entered
was never sent back to our server, and the chart you saw was the chart
for 'just now' which appears when you come to the timezone page the first
time.
What date/time is written on the wrong 'cancer' chart you mention (look at
the top right of the chart image)?
Our free service delivers exactly the same result as our paid-for service,
of course, if it is used correctly.
About a million of visitors have done it right before you.
The page does say clearly on top of the date/time fields:
Enter a new Date and Civil Time and press the Update Timezone button.
Later in the day: Maria confirmed her error, now it works.

hopefully never be. A person's birth data are confidential private
information.
I can't believe it, your site is really great!
I have got lots of books for the calculation of the natal chart, and it is very exciting to build a natal chart, but manual calculations take HOURS, so it is wonderful to be able to have a result in a few minutes!
For I am very interesting in this domaine, please send me information about books, various publications and software - also in German.
Thank you for beeing there!

Great site ! However: Tried to draw a chart for
U.S.A. Danville, Virginia (36°N35 and 79°W24)
for 27 december 1966, 17:00 hours, EST, and your
program calculates Cancer to be the Ascendant.
I was compairing this output with te outcome of
my computerprogram Astroscoop Plus for Win95
(It's a Dutch program, very good), but my program
comes up with the Ascendant to be Aries and so
on. Which one is correct ? Does your program
calculate with Eastern Standard Time for these
coordinates ? How can those calculations with
the same input give such difference output ?
Thank you for your time !
Best regards, Jeannine.

Alois adds:
I cannot answer for other programs.
But obviously Aries is totally wrong, and Cancer is right.
On 27 December the Sun is in Capricon. At 17:00 the Sun will be close
to Sunset, i.e. close to the Descendant.
When a Capricorn Sun is at the Descendant, what will the Ascendant be?
The opposite sign, which is Cancer.
Always use your common sense to check a chart. The hous eposition of the Sun
must correspond to the time of day and the typical seasonal position of the Sun
on the sky at this time of day.
thank you for the beautiful site. I found it very easy to use and was able to obtain my new grandson's chart.

Thank you for providing this place where people can run a chart. I have been reading a book about the asteroids and hadn't ever had them charted, and now I can learn more about myself.

This site could use some more aids to help find the names of places. Other than that, it really kind of rocks!

Hallo liebe Astrofreunde
Eure Site ist exzellent! SUPER!

great service for the boomer who never did the math, appreciate your page. hey, must be stressful editing html and reading charts. try the outdoor sport for the new millenium. visit discgolf.com for a look.

Thank you for developing this site so that we can explore astrology at your own convenience. The service is easy to use and is the only free source for good charts that I have seen.

I like astrology very much, i also like Liz Greene
books. But I do not like getting drawings of today
when there should be my birthday.
Maybe I did something wrong, so I have to go back
to my old shareware program of Chris Noyes,NY.
I am mathematician and did not believe in this stuff, but I know statistics. There was so much true about my charts, you could get anxious about it.
I think people do not like the idea of beeing controlled by something outside their will. Especially not by ancient star systems and rules made up thousands of years ago.
But, it does not matter if you believe in the earth beeing a ball, or plate: the Earth works the same way as ever and turns around the sun (and stays a ball of course). I think one should
take the emotions out of this discussion. In my opinion astronomy and psychology are less of a science than good old astrology!
