Few more questions please...
I've printed out a few Sign/House dispositor just out of curiousity and I'm puzzeled a bit.
For hierarchy, I suppose the planets/houses that are marked on top are more important or significant than the ones that are at the bottom.
Am I correct? now there still remain two questions.
1: What are the meaning of the Planets & Houses which are circled? Do they mean they are the most important ones?
2: Do the Planets & Houses which are not connected by arrow(s) mean that they exist or signify indipendently?
I hate to have tools I cannot use. Will you be able to help me?
Thanks.
Best regard.

A sample graph by Thomas Ring (Astrologische Menschenkunde, Vol. III, p.494)
The unusual glyphs represent Pluto (circle with line) and Uranus (upward arrow).
Alois adds: Dear Sasha, I was fascinated by the sign dispositor graph already
in the first astrology class I took, a one week course in 1980 by the
German astrologer Thomas Ring (not only in my opinion the most profound
German astrologer of this century). Ring called these diagrams
'Dominantenverkettung' (dominance chain).
I was surprised to find a similar feature
in Walter Pullen's ASTROLOG software which we use on this website to display
charts. I cannot answer for the details of Walter's graph, but I know
a bit about Thomas Ring's graphs.
The top level contains either planets in their own sign, or planets in
mutual reception. Sometimes a circle of three or more planets in mutual
reception can form. If no receptions are found, the planet which disposes over
the highest number of others is put on top.
The other planets are attached to the top level by
dispositor links, i.e. a planet in Leo which is ruled by the Sun will receive
a link from the Sun and so on. Sometimes a planet is completely by itself,
in its own sign, with no other planet connecting to it. Ring includes
the Ascendant which is always disposed, never dispositor. Ring
sometimes used double rulers, e.g. a planet in Pisces receives arrows from
both Jupiter and Neptune.
These structural diagrams give insight into the interactions in a chart
on a surprisingly sophisticated level. The patterns can be fascinating.
Thomas Ring writes (p. 493): The dominance chain looks always different. Rarely is it
possible to fit everything into a linear chain, sometimes links lead back to
the starting point and a circle appears, something everything is
dominated monothematically from a single point, sometimes relationship
systems stand unconnected besides each other. This formula is not to
be seen independent of the aspect figure but as a supplement.
I meant to add when I posted earlier that the web site is well laid out-- easy to navigate and visually appealing. I always know where I am and where I'm going... not always true of websites. Again, thanks!

I love this astrological service, it's great! Although I have a computer program that does the same thing, I don't have an "instant" atlas-- I always have to look up the coordinates. Your service has been absolutely WONDERFUL!!!
Thank you very much for providing us such a great service for free. Two thums up definitely.
By the way, I have a couple of questions for you,,, I am very much interested in the works of M & F Gauqeulin and would like to know how the Gauquilin's chart works.I have +s between 36-3, 9-12 (going through the Midheaven and 9th House), 19-21, 28-30.((I was born on Feb 1st 1963 8:43am Ofunato, Japan)) I've got a friend who has a lots of +s ((Mar 27th 1961 21:45 Harlow, U.K)) What do they mean?? Can you also tell me good books on the subject, especially the ones relating to the interpretation of Gauqeulin's charts (in French, English and/or Japanese)?
Thanks again.

Biniali, Spain --- Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at 03:10 Swiss time
Alois adds: Dear Sasha
the Gauquelin charts are predominantly a research tool.
Michel Gauquelin and other
reearchers who built on his work used the 36 G-sectors to divide the
diurnal arc of the planets for their statistical research.
It has been found that for certain profession groups there are significantly
more frequent placements of key planets in some sectors.
I do not know to which extent the G-sectors have also been used by
astrologers for individual chart readings.
There is a research
journal 'Correlation' where a lot of such works are published.
Maybe you can find it in some academic library. You may also contact
Dr. Peter Niehenke who runs a research center in Freiburg, Germany, and knows
a lot more than I do. Try *niehenke.de
This is a great site!!!!!!!! I would love to know the program that you use and how to and where to get it. I have recently began to study astrology. I find it extremely accurate. I have been told by friends and relatives that it comes to me naturally. I just tell them what i feel and they are amazed at my accuracy. So am I at times. Anyway please write me and tell me the program and where to buy it from. Thanks so much.

I have noticed that the planetery house placement described on the description page is inconsistent with the planetary house placement in the free Chart.
For example, I have input info for a number of charts and the charts produced are accurate. However, the description page says that the planets fall in different houses than the chart actually shows. I know the charts are accurate because I have a book of charts that I created in an astrology course I have taken. I have input over 6 charts on several different days, hoping this programming error had been corrected, and it still remains.
I was planning to recommend this site to several friends, however, presently I have a low level of confidence in the data that may come from your program because of these significant inconsistencies. Any suggestions?
Belinda Dalbey [ *boulder.net ]
Boulder, USA --- Saturday, November 22, 1997 at 22:59 Swiss time
Alois adds: Dear Belinda, you probably have been barking at the wrong tree.
I do not understand which 'description page'
you refer to. There is no 'description page' containing individually computed
house positions on the Astrodienst server. The chart drawing is the ONLY form
of output we provide.
I think you confuse information created from our server
(Astrodienst free chart) with information created somewhere else.
I cannot comment on unknown information from unknown sources.
I would appreciate if you would verify your sources befor you make
derisive public statements about our service. I am happy to investigate
any claim of incorrectness - but you need to provide full data. So far you have
made negative claims without providing any data.
Astrodienst is extremely knowledgable and experienced about computing
correct horoscopes. We are in business since 1980 and have serviced
hundreds of thousands of paying clients. We are considered the most reliable
source of astrological information in the world.
We investigate every claim that our data are incorrect immediately and
we have never found an error with house cusps. The only known sources of errors
are incorrect place coordinates and incorrect birth times. These are matters
of data input which is under the control of the user.
I think this service is a very good idea, but it would be nice to know the meaning of the map as well as the map itself. I personaly have my sources and can figure it out on my own, so--- all I can say is thank you very very much!

Interesting charts. I will investigate more literature on this subject, but to date I've never seen any correlation between peoples' characters and their birth signs. Different persons with the same personalities can be born under different signs, planets, houses, etc. and visa-versa. I read a major study of this years ago and the ONLY correlation found was that doctors seem to appear moreunder one sign than others. Have astrologers ever pinpointed what conjunction the Bethlehem Star could have been?

Alois adds: Astrology is certainly much more complex then the 12 sun signs, and
it is not surprising that experiments fail when they reduce astrology to the
sun sign level.
The most significant statistical findings in this field habe been made by
the French researchers Michel and Françoise Gauquelin. They have widely
published their books, also in English.
There are many theories about the constallations, which could mean the star
of Bethlehem. But the historical evidence about the birth and live of Jesus
of Nazareth is very shaky, even the year of birth is unknown and assumed to be
around 7 BC. You would need to study astrological magazines (AA Journal,
The Mountain Astrologer) in their past editions to find more about this issue.
It was like really cool, or sumpthin!

This is by far the greatest astro-site I have ever visited! I just had a question, I am a Female Libra w/ Sag rising (10/14/71) and my significant other (Male)) is also a Libra (10/10/70) on my Astro program (expert astrology) his Ascendant always comes up leo but here it is Sag like mine. the reason for my confusion is that my birth info is
13:19 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and his is
12:30 in North Hollywood, CA, USA.
Is it possible that My program is not adjusting the birhtimes to GST properly. I am very perplexed by this. If we both have Sagitarius risings it would explain Sooo much. Thank you for taking the time out to answer my query. And I hope to be in frequent contact with your site, and start ordering from your wonderful selection of charts very soon!

Alois adds:
Dear Angie
there is no doubt that your partner has 26 degrees Sagittarius rising,
if the birth time 12.30 pm is correct. If you made a mistake and mean 12.30
am (half hour past midnight) the ascendant is Cancer. This time needs to be
entered as 0:30 in our entry form.
To get Leo rising, he would have to be born between 0.55 AM and 3.15 AM at
the same place.
By the way, you have nearly the same degree of Sagittarius ascendant,
28 versus 26 degrees, which is really significant.
I want to mention the importance of plausibility again: the position of the Sun
in the houses must fit the time of day. Everybody with some common sense can
check this. The birth time is 12.30 pm. At this time of the day the Sun must
be close to the MC (medium coeli, midheaven). This is the case with a late
Sagittarius rising.
Turn the chart around to get Leo rising. The Libra Sun
would be still under the horizon, at 12.30 noon! This is impossible.
At last I've found an easy way of getting a birth chart for myself, my husband and my son. Thank you. Your site is great and most useful.

The Yin/Yang count is nothing but a count of the planets in even and odd
signs, i.e. the Yin count is the total number of planets in signs 1 (Aries),
3 (Gemini), 5, 7, 9, 11 and the Yang count is the same for sign 2 (Taurus),
4 etc. Some astrologers call these the +/- or male/female signs, which are
as questionable concepts as the Yin/Yang is in the context of the Zodiac.
Because the sum of each element is already given, it is simple to
compute the Yin/Yang count out of them.
Obviously, the Yin count is the sum of the Fire and Air count,
and the Yang count the sum of Earth and Water. Simply add these two numbers
which are conveniently already placed above each other in the chart.
I've had a great deal of fun at your site and will certainly visit again. I am an Aquarius with Taurus rising, but as I'm adopted I don't have access to my actual time of birth. My natural mother guessed it to be around lunchtime so I submitted 12 pm. Will this make a great deal of difference? Thanks again.

Dear Jane
as far as I know Australia registers birth time in the official birth registry.
Have you made an enquiry in the city where you were born?
Vielen Dank für die tollen gratis-Möglichkeiten, wir konnten so endlich die E/W-Position unseres Geburtsortes finden.

When you say free chart, that must mean the chart of YOUR choice...not necessarily MY chart

Alois adds: Claudia, I wonder what you are talking about. By chart we mean
'drawing of the horoscope'. Everbody can do
his/her own chart drawings for free on our server. For interpretations
(reports) however,
they are too valuable to be free. We only show sample reports of our choice on
the server, if you want your own report, you must order it.
Perfeckt!!!!!

Guten Tag

I have found the Astrodienst
Database to be a good & quick
check for my own figurings..
However I have a 15" screen -
So now I can't see the whole
image. Thank you for the
additions to chart types..tho'
the planets don't all show in their correct places-a space problem in the houses.

The horror of equipment failure is one that can put this astrologer out of business, but you kept my office open for me in spite of this inconvenience. Thanks from an employed astrologer who could keep working with or without the printer, since I can copy the chart or print it from another location while mine is "in the shop."

Thank you for a good and helpfull site!! It is mych easier to just write in the times and click on a button than seeking in astrologybooks and lists. I hope you will continue with it and make it better than all the other astrosites on the net

Your site is absolutely the best I've seen. I would like to have the option to select any date I choose for chart progression and perhaps the option to show minor aspects such as quincunx, semi-sextile, etc, but overall I am very grateful for the valuable service you have provided. Thank you.

Your Web page is very helpful indeed, but why is it when I figure charts manually, the Ascendant is always different from yours. Is this due to the adjustments made for correcting planetary movements, or is my 20 year old epheremis obsolete?
Nikous
, USA --- Monday, November 3, 1997 at 22:18 Swiss time
Alois adds: I must assume that you make errors with your manual procedures. It
is unlikely that your ephemeris is wrong. I do charts myself manually sometimes
to test some software, and I am able to reproduce it by the second with manual,
printed ephemeris based calculation.
If you send a complete sample of
your own calculation, so that your steps can be traced, I will check it
out and look for errors in your procedures.
Thank you very much for the time spent in providing this excellent site. I found its multiple forms of presentation most helpful. Love and Light to you and yours.
