Being Europeans, we use 24-hour clock time.
If you are born at 3 pm, you must enter it as '15' (add 12 hours).
We tried to make this clear by the indicator 0..23 on top of the hour field.
We are aware that we should add an am/pm button for users to whom
24-hour time is an unknown concept. We hope to be able to do this soon.

Alois adds: The free astrology program ASTROLOG which we use in our website
can easily produce all kinds of chart you can imagine. We use only a very
limited set of its capabilities here. The problem with offering Solar
Return charts, Progressions, Transits etc. is that additional information
from the user is required, like for which year or period of time the chart
should be. It would mean to program an additional data entry form and making
the user interface more complex.
I suggest you
download ASTROLOG and use it locally.
Use the Karlsruhe link, because it seems that the US link www.magitech.com
is not online these days - somewhat unreliable as often in the past.
I really appreciate the automatic drawing of the natal chart. Would it be possible that we also get the automatic chart of the birthdate (solary revolution). Thanks.

I'm confused! I am told that I was born during DST on Sept. 11, 1946, but my birth certificate shows 12:24PM EST because the tradition in the area was to record EST. A rectification done by one astrologer indicates my rising sign is Sagittarius rather than Scorpio. How are recording customs in Philadelphia that year accounted for?

to 12:24 pm EST.
If this is correct, you have to enter 1:24 pm (13:24) as your birth time.
Our simple rule is: NEVER make any conversions yourself, let the computer
make them (correctly!).

I have a question--my rising sign in other charts is 20:33:29 Capricorn from a time and location of San Diego CA at 09:12:00 on 19/11/48, rather than your 19:31:03 Sagittarius. The difference as far as I can tell is the longitude for San Diego--is it really 117 09W 32 rather than 085W15?? Please excuse the length of this message, but your chart differs from any that I have had done in this respect.

Alois adds: The best way to say is: the timezone of Mauritius is four hours EAST
of Greenwich. Whether you call this + or minus is a matter of perspective:
GMT - Mauritius time = -4 hours
Mauritius time - GMT = +4 hours
This creates obviously confusion, and therefore you will in our webserver
always find expressions like h4e or h5w which means hours 4 east or hours
5 west. This way there is no confusion about the timezone difference.
Other software authors should follow our example.

It is comforting to be able to check my calculations for the more obscure corners of the world
where time-zones, long. and lat.- itude, daylight saving time etc are known only with a vague certainty!

I love it! I started doing numerology for my friends and family instead of astrology charts as it took me so long to figure out all the math, etc. that is involved. Eine Frage - was bedeutet eigentlich die Astro-Landkarte (Weltkarte)? Rein technisch habe ich sie verstanden, aber was besagt sie zum Beispiel über einen Menschen bei der Horoskopdeutung?

Question: Was 28 Oct 1961 in St. Louis MO on daylight savings or standard time?
Obviously it's kind of important to the chart.
That date is always near the Sunday when it changes from daylight to standard,
and apparently in 1959 it was CST, and in 1960 was CDT, even though in 1960 the day
was a Friday. Clearly I am confused. Can you help me?

Alois adds: No need to be confused. These steps provide the answer:
- in the atlas search page, enter 'st. louis'
- in the list of hits, click on St Louis, MO
- in the timezone page, enter the date 28 Oct 1961 and a time if you want
- click on the button 'update timezone'
- the timezone map for this date appears, in the yellow bubble you read
"5hw DST" and on top of the map you read "CDT" which means central daylight
time. In addition, the clock shows GMT/UT for the entered date/time.
If you now click on 'show the chart', you will se the chart graphics after
a few seconds.
Our system is set up the provide the correct timezone answer for ANY date
you enter. It is not set up to show directly the date when daylight time changes; but
of course you can search for this date by asking it a series of questions,
closing in on the date of the switch.
What a fine addition to the WebSites. Looks like "ASTRODIENST" is going to teach me a lot in the future!
