Hi
I filled in the info for a report and read through the information. Thank
you. I would like to ask you a question about one small piece.
It read, re: Saturn in the Fifth house: ...In relation to children, you may
experience the 'severe hand of destiny' in trouble coming to your
descendents.
I would like to ask you two things.
1. Is it possible that this placement can also mean that you yourself, AS a
descendent, experienced trouble due to your ancestors? Please answer me on
this one. It is very important.
2. If the above is not the case, what,exactly, is the point in disclosing
such information? Am I supposed to now walk around fearful because you gave
me this ominous warning? As a person who thinks and emotes quite profoundly,
I would like clear and serious resolution to this. I do not want to spend the
next x amount of years of my life worrying.

Alois adds: Some of our authors have written sentences, which, taken
out of context and without a more fundamental understanding of the
principles at work, can be perceived as frightening. I am sorry for this.
I have removed the offending sentence out of the reading which referred
to a Saturn in house 5 placement. We have already 'sanitized' our text
quite a bit, but occasionally things have been overlooked.
I logged on this morning and looked at some forcasts and have noticed for
some time that the transit of Pluto to the natal moon was conspicuous by its
absence in all short and daily forcasts for one individual. I had presumed
until now that because these are intended to be brief and meant to wet the
appetite to purchase in-depth forcasts that a few transits were picked at
random. However today I thought I might raise a question about it to see if
the reason was to keep things light and not delve too deeply into dangerous
waters, so clicked on feedback and was intrigued to find someone in Germany
had a similar thought and expressed it at around the same time. I thought
this moment of synchronicity was worth a mention. Regards and thanks as

your free reports do not include Pluto transits to personal planets. Is that
an oversight or by design? But since it is a free service, I am not
complaining--just curious.

I love your site. It is invaluable for the novice who has an interest in
saving time. I would like you to consider adding a segment on relocation
charts. You site has been a big blessing to me, saving me lots of time. The
new partner section of the astro click feature is outstanding. I like Hand's
interpretations.
I am writing today about the section entitled long term influences I wonder
if it would be difficult to list them all during the period in which they are
active, so I won't forget, for example, that a certain 6 week period is bad
for negotiations.

Midnight is written as 00:00 and not as 23:60, and belongs technically
to the new day.
Either enter April 4th, 23:59:59 or
April 5, 00:00
as your birth date/time. If you celebrate your birthday on April 4, the
first choice seems the better one.

about the Ebertin Mid-Point system.

Original und danach in deutsch. Auf Seite

steht als letzter Satz: Ausländern gegenüber sind Sie eher
mißtrauisch. Im Englischen Original steht nichts davon, deshalb fühle ich
mich durch diesen frei erfundenen Zusatz diskriminiert. Stünde da
fremden/unbekannten Menschen gegenüber sind Sie eher mißtrauisch, wäre das in
Ordnung. Ich bestreite hiermit jedoch ausdrücklich, daß meine Vorsicht
irgendetwas mit Nationalitäten zu tun hat. Eher im Gegenteil: deutsche
Menschen und Mentalität sind mir sehr viel fremder als viele Menschen anderer
Nationalitäten. Auch wenn Ihnen mein Protest vielleicht etwas kinky vorkommt,
bestehe ich darauf, daß dieser Zusatz geändert wird und die Ursache für
diesen im englischen Original nicht vorhandenen Satz geprüft wird.
Entweder war der/die Übersetzer/in jemand, der Deutschen grundsätzlich
Nationalismus unterstellt (dann ist er/sie vielleicht zu simpel gestrickt für
diese Aufgabe) oder aber es ist jemand, der Nationalsozialistische Gesinnung
zu verbreiten sucht. Damit möchte ich nichts zu tun haben...... auch nicht

Sowohl der deutsche wie der englische Text des Kurzhoroskops sind
Kürzungen - nicht identische, da von verschiedenen Bearbeitern gekürzt -
eines englischen Originals bzw. einer deutschen Langfassung, worin es zu Saturn in 9 heisst:

is an aspect of your personality that makes you rather
distrustful in this respect, although it is something that
your willpower could change.
In der deutschen Ausgabe von Astrotext Persönlich kommt das als:
Auslandsreisen sind eher ungünstig für Sie. Auch Beziehungen zu
Ausländern würden sich aufgrund Ihres Mißtrauens eher als schwierig
erweisen, was Sie allerdings mit Ihrer Willenskraft verändern könnten.
Wenn Pelletier 'Fremder' hätte sagen wollen,
hätte er 'stranger' genommen, denke ich. Besser regen Sie sich wegen
eines astrologischen Kochbuchtexts nicht so auf. Er ist zwangsläufig eher
pauschal, exemplarisch, und kann unmöglich im konkreten Detail stimmen.
Eine wunde Stelle könnte es ja in diesem Bereich vielleicht geben, sonst würden
Sie nicht so überempfindlich reagieren.
Re: the Liz Greene natal chart version: Since you include Chiron by default,
and list aspects to it in the aspect table ... wouldn't it be nice if
graphical aspect lines to/from Chiron were also included by default? (Yes, it
would!) (Or is the lack of aspect lines a subtle expression of Chironian
themes? :)

thank you for your exibition and punctual standing on stable professional
backround, especially regarding the more extensive technical forms.
nevertheless, it could have been regarded even more punctual and externaly
professional to introduce into your samples more options and alternatives,
such as regarding moon nodes or even planet nodes as points of
reference(without elaboration - ater all it should remain somehow
commercial): it could have been a refeshing notion as to the usually ignored
sophistication of the profession. as long as there are such sites as this
one, there is hope for the serious and even-handed ambition for re-enterance
of our 'guild' from under the debased fare-ground of magicians and shamans
(be them respectable as they may) back to the catedra. who knows?
secondly, as a student of astrology for the last 20 years, and being a
student of law and governance, i would appreciate more links towards
professional mundane astrology sources that are more elaborate and less
basic, and an appealing and most wanted pool-anchor for refreshment towards
economics astrology and more complex interdisciplinary merging of astrology
and the social sciences or comparative myth and symbol delienation:as you've
got the property on the web - maximize it thoroughly and we all can win!
in sum - be blessed for the striving towards balance of the commercial with
the professional.

Werte Mitarbeiter des astrodienstes,
Erst einmal Gratulation zum gelungenen Internetauftritt. Ich habe eine
Frage,
wo kann ich nachlesen, ob es eine Bedeutung hat zu welchem Zeitpunkt der
Rückläufigkeit eines Planeten man geboren wurde.
Saturn war 1965 z.Bsp. von ende Juni bis ca Anfang November rückläufig. Hat
es für die Deutung eine Bedeutung ob man in der Mitte (August,
Septemeber)oder am Anfang bzw. Ende (Juni, November Geburtstag hat.
Warum ist das Zeichen ausschlaggebende in dem sich die Spitze eines Hauses
befindet und nicht die ein oder mehreren Zeichen über die sich ein Haus
erstreckt?

chart it appears that my birthdate is automatically changed to daylight
savings time.
Is that right? If so, how come?...Daylight
Savings time didn't exist in 1954, it became law
in 1966.

Alois adds: Use 9.15, so your maximum error will be 15 minutes, which
will rarely have an effect on your chart.
I've narrowed it down to 9:00am and 9:30 am in the morning.
how do I deal with this when mapping a chart seeing as I don't think I'll
find the exact time. there was no record of the time.

This is a great website. Do you provide services that explaine why I read
scorpio and relate to it more than sagittarius. my birth day is nov /24/ 76.
and i am a sagittarius but my behavior patterns in reality fit scorpio. is
there a reason for this and can i find the answers somewhere. (some say there
are no cusps and some say there are) The sun is in one sign or the other but
i believe the influance is still felt in some cases. maybe because of other
platary positions. please reply.

I would just like to say how excellent this website is! It is by far the most
informative and accurate astrology website that i have visited. I was very
interested in your composite charts as i had been doing my own relationship
astrology by calculating the aspects between each person's planet positions
by hand. Your composite charts were exteremly informative and , may i say,
alarmingly accurate. I was wondering if you are able to tell me the
advantages and disadvantages of using the different methods?

the early 80s I was told about a' ka' ick (still don't know the spelling
????) records. This must be what they were talking about (laugh out loud).

This website is wonderful. Thank you for making astrology accessible to those
who don't have their own astrology software. One suggestion: The persoanl
portrait interpretation doesn't reflect all of the different house systems
used. Is there any way that this could be altered to reflect different house
systems. The ascendant often changes as well as planetary placements when

Our computerized
chart interpretation system was developed by human astrologers. It also
behaves like a human astrologer in this issue of choice of technique. When
you visit an astrologer and ask him/her to read your chart, you must be
willing to concede that this astrologer uses his/her technique of chart
setup and reading, the technique in which he/she has the most extensive
experience and which he/she always uses for his/her work.
This includes choice of house system, size of orbs for the ascpects, varied
by aspect and planet pair, choice of chart factors to include in the reading
etc.
No astrologer who has any pride in his/her business will read the chart
according to YOUR style, only according to his/her style. The fact that there
exists a 'YOUR' style indicates that you have some understanding of astrology
and should be able to read the charts by yourself. We offer all the choices
when it comes to chart calculation, but none when we do the reading. Please
accept that we stick to our 'faith'.
You cannot ask a rabbi for the holy communion, can you?
PS: The ascendant does NOT change with most house systems, except very
obscure ones. This is so with good reason, as the Ascendant is well defined as the
degree of the zodiac rising at the eastern horizon at the moment of birth.

We have once again updated
our web software. New is the 'AstroClick'
Partner, and new is a feature in registered
accounts which gives a 'high security' option.
If you want to publish links to charts, even just
send them to a friend, make sure you use this
new option to protect your account.
It will force you to login each time you connect to it, but it prevents
access from anyone not having your password. If you publish a link to
a chart from your account, a user of the link will
only get access to this single chart, not to you whole account.
You have manually to activate the 'high security' feature, it is not turned
on by default.

There are those that speak of the Mayan calendar expiring sometime in the

Alois adds: I find the 22 years I have spent with astrology too short
to even get a full grasp of 'western' astrology, and I have been
consciously avoiding any other astrological systems, like Chinese or Mayan.
In other areas of life, e.g. in cooking, I love blending and combining
many regional styles, but in astrology I avoid it. This is just my personal
preference.
I have however heard of this new 'millennium scare' about the end of
time, and I shall sleep well with it. Much worse will be 2037, when the
system clock counting the seconds since Jan 1, 1970, in all Unix computers,
overruns 2^31 and becomes negative.
Thank you, again, for your marvelous site. I'm just wondering if there's any
way that your write-ups on relationship could be altered to include the
possibility of same-sex relationships. As a gay man, rather than hearing

In the Acrobat tables of extra data for a free chart it gives the declination
of the house cusps. Do you know any sources of information on declinational
houses? Are these interpreted in the same way as the longtitudinal houses?
Sometimes a planet can be in a different declinational house to its
longtitudinal house position. What then? Where does latitude come into it
all?
I would be very grateful if you could let me know of any books or articles
which would clarify this. Or perhaps you could write just a few words to
help. You give declinational house cusp data. But it is very difficult to
find information on how to interpret or understand this.
I hope you can help me in these dark days of saturn retrograde, my wisdom
teeth are giving me grief. Thanks.

Alois adds: House cusps are points on the ecliptic, and every point on
the ecliptic (every point on the celestial sphere in fact) has a declination.
This is nothing special, and not yet three-dimensional per se.
But you are right, most house systems do have a definition wich is truely
3-dimensional, making the houses something like orange-slices on the sky,
not just segments on the ecliptic circle (a notable exception is
the Koch house system, which as no 3-dimensional definition and is therefore
one of the less intelligent choices of house systems).
It is difficult to show the 3-dimensional extension of the houses on a
piece of paper, you should use a spherical surface for it.
Many years ago I have invented something which I called the '3-dimensional
chart drawing', and it is available in the extended chart selection.
You need to print this chart out, it does not work on the screen because we
have no foldable screens yet.
You have to cut the sheet of paper along the central line (where the
little scissors are) and glue the two
strips together so that they form a cylinder. Printed side outside. The
equator degrees go from 0 .. 360 and get glued together at 180-180 and at 360-0.
Then you see the central
area of the sky, containing the equator and the ecliptic. When you hold
it so that the Ascendant (AC) line is horizontal, you get an approximate view
of the houses in three dimensions, and you can see into wich houses the
planets really fall. Have fun (and please don't ask for more explanation).
It works because one can approximate the equatorial section of a sphere
reasonably well with a cylinder, as long as you don't get into declinations
higher than 30 degrees. This is the area where all astrology happens.
I invented this drawing to illustrate primary directions, and in fact
we have addidtional chart types based on this one for graphical display
of primary directions. I had not put it online, because nobody would
understand it and I have no time to answer questions about it.
It is there now. The 'addional tables' are really useful here.

Any one do a horary about the 1997 car crash invol. Princess Diana? or about
Henri Paul. If so much alcohol was in his system, would he not have reeked
of it? I can't imagine his state not being noticeable. In the Ritz hotel
security videos, Mssr. Paul certainly does NOT appear to be drunk. Any
horary done as to whether or not a fiat uno WAS actually involved. Was it
the Fayeds or Diana who were under observation, IF indeed such was the
case???

more than a year because it will go retrograde for a few months and then
come back over the same point.
I think you have a wonderful website. I am not the expert on astrology, but
my daily horoscope lists Uranus transiting Mercury (a conjunction) from March
21, 1999 to November 24, 2000. Is this correct? This is a conjunction
lasting over 1.5 years. Or maybe I misunderstand transits. Is it possible
that the effect of this conjunction lasts that long? I'm thinking Mercury
basically moves around the circle in one year, giving it plenty of time to
experience every possible aspect to Uranus. I hope I'm not embarrasing
myself here, just wanted to let you know if there is a problem. Thanks so

in newspapers and on some entertainment websites 'horoscopes'. They are
usually nothing but syndicated entertainment material, comparable to
comic strips. Garfield & co are usually more relevant for your spiritual

value.

Greetings ASTRODIENST! At a very general level, I sometimes question the
authenticity, or need (a better word perhaps) for the multitude of catalogued
astroids (spelling?). This does however bring to light the question of meteor
showers...there was one just recently, on the 17th/18th of November. Alois,
and all reading...given the estimated rate of 100 meteors travelling the sky
per elapsed second, can this be used along side transits for the day and
hour??
Surely a phemonena in the sky of such magnitude could hold bearing amongst
the greater, more permanent celistial bodies. thankyou!
ps I missed the meteor shower personally. made me cross - I didn't mind
having to wake up at 4am, I just plain forgot! oh, and I love your site! I

Alois adds: The multitude of asteroids has no significance for astrology
at all, it is just an entertaining name game, to get objects into your
chart which carry your own name, etc.
Please don't confuse asteroids and
meteors; you would not want to experience an asteroid hitting earth, there
would be little interest in astrology left afterward.
I absolutely love your website and I visit it all the time. Thank-you so
very, very much!!! My question is about the charts you have for
nations..particularly the one for the USA. There is a book out that gives it
a Gemini ascendant, I am referring to Gar Osten's book, in light of the past
few weeks with the presidential election and
all, maybe Gar's chart is..close? There are also theories out that sometimes
other charts are set for events..ones other than the public charts...so
called secret charts.
I personally know astrologers who will not give out their birthdata and data
they eventually give out is called their public data/chart/but passed off as
their true birthdata.
There is also speculation that sometimes governments will draft legislation
for public 'view' but there is legislation that has been drafted behind
closed doors...and not public. Could this have happened with the birth of the
United States? Thanks!!!

registered before, and instead of creating a new guest account you should
have connected to your existing named account.
Now you should disconnect

Your site has been so amazingly dead-on! Everytime I feel a strong pull to
look at my daily astrological influences, I am amazed (well, 95% of the
time!!) Perhaps the most astounding reading came a few months back on this
site: something was wrong with the site and the results being returned were
from 1997. The major influence in my chart for that day had the word
'monastic' in the title. i.e., 'monastic tendencies', or something like
that. that happened to be a time when I ordained as a monk in a Buddhist
monastery!!! wow!!!

EDT means 'eastern daylight time' and it is 4 hours west of Greenwich.
Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours west of Greenwich. So your short
statement 'should be edt +5:00' is already false to begin with, and with all
likelyhood you have been given a false chart by some service which does not
offer the quality and reliability as Astrodienst does.
But if you want to change your birth time:
Every chart output page has near the top right a link for 'edit data'. I suggest
you use that. And no, we don't have a support phone number for our free online
service. We only accept calls which refer to shop orders, and even there we prefer e-mail from people in remote time-zones.

I just tried getting the chart through acrobat and it ONLY showed me the
first page of the information,but it was blank for page two(It only showed
the second persons birth info and nothing else),so could you please help me
to get usage of this feature on your site.BTW,I've used it before with no

pay for his/her time. You may contact one of the US astrological associations
for a list of qualified members. We do not have that kind of information,
exept for Switzerland and Germany. Be aware that many good astrologers don't
advertise, as they are booked out all the time without it.

to log on to MyAstro? I know I am signed up in there with the email above,
and also with my work email... because I couldn't find a way to get to my
things from work. I do work on 2 machines at work... Maybe I can only see

Alois adds: You should create a 'registered account' on the my astro page.
Then you can access it from any computer by logging in. First create, then
login. The other way around usually fails.
If you don't create a registered account, but operate only out of a 'guest account', the access relies on a 'cookie' which is limited to the machine
from where you visited before, because it is stored there.
I love this site, I come every day just to see what it has instore for me.

I love this website however I am disappointed that recent changes to it now
reveal VIP astro-twins charts in German only -- even if I am in the English

Why wqas the birth data entry changed? Whay can't i put in the location of
where am living so that I can get my solar return and progressed charts? I
am very disappointed about this. was this a mistake perhaps? How can I get

The server does not know the font metric of the client, and therefore correct
hyphenation for the display column width cannot be made at the server.
Justification without hyphenation creates large inter-word
gaps in languages with long words. These do not look pleasing at all.
All our printed reports which you can order have justified text with
hyphenation in all langauges we support.
So, I'm still interested in an answer, since the data entered is correct...In
B.F. Hammerslough's book, Forecasting Backward and Foreward he states that a
relocated birthtime shouldn't be altered to account for time zones except in
the case where daylight saving time is being contrasted with standard time
which your program has neglected to do, when using the Extended Chart
Selection-Relocation function. Whose method of relocation are you calculating
by? Haven't you moved significantly, and then experienced the unique
discovery that one method updates your life more closely than another? And,
just as an academic thought, why would everyone sharing the same longitudinal
meridian around the whole sphere have such a similar ascendant, while if the
only differing factor is the latitude - suddenly the ascendant tells a
completely new story? Just wondering..

Alois adds: There is only ONE method of doing relocation charts. A relocation
chart is a horoscope erected for the same abolute moment of time (same
UT/GMT value) on a different place. If you fail to understand that, I cannot
help you.
If you don't keep UT fixed, but keep local time fixed, it is as if you,
for example, would compute a sun-rise-chart on different locations. This
of course keeps the Ascendant constant. But this is not what one considers
a relocation chart.
It's a gift of great kindess to provide so much data to individuals who are
conducting research. This is a site for the person who trully wants to learn
astrology.

Why is it that when client -A- moved exactly west 3000 miles (3 time zones,
and birthtime correct per Standard/Daylight time) his relocated ascendant
backed up a scant 4 degrees but when client -B- moved directly north only a
few-hundred miles, his relocated ascendant jumped back 10 degrees? Wouldn't
a 3-time-zone difference be approximately equivalent to a 45 degree
difference in ascendant?

Alois adds: To do a relocation, you should use the feature via the extended
chart selection. If you just run it as a birth chart with a different birth palce, you are VERY LIKELY to make an error with the time. If you do it, check
that the UT (Universal times) shown on both charts is the same. If not,
you made an error.
I have been a booster of Astrodienst for several years, but now have felt
frustrated because the use of the site is devoted to relationships, not just
astrology. I am not interested in keeping birth data, just want to see your
beautifully drawn charts on occasion.
How do I get the charts drawing page with all the details? Once I have
calculated a chart, I find only three spaces for charts, but no warning
exists to say three's the limit, until the limit is reached.
I am frustrated because this site maintained the best drawings available
either on software at home or on the Internet.
i'd like the option of using the asteroid data bank and all the old features.
These seem to be clumsily hidden away.

Would it be possible to increase the orbs on aspects to quincunxes? A lot of
us feel like quincunxes are quite major aspects, and i always have to go
looking for them in your printouts, because their orb is so tiny.
Here's one you've probably heard before: Would it be possible to save the
extended chart selection's preferences through 'My Astro.' For example, house
system, true node, part of fortune, reduce orbs %, reduce chart size %,
etc.

preserve you complicated selections from the extended chart area is to
bookmark the page where a chart with these settings is displayed.
Using this bookmark will give you all your settings back and allow you
to select any of the current persons in your Astro data list.
Before we think of storing setting on the server, we will have to
improve the user inetrface for the extended chart area; we have many more
options to offer there, but this doe not have the highest priority in our
programming.
Just noticed that on 11/7/2000, Leslie from Cambridge,MA questioned astro on
the existence of a town in Vermont. Leslie, the name of the town is spelled
Townshend (with a h) in the state of Vermont. I live here! I don't think

An answer about past lifetimes
In finding out about past lifetimes I would recomend you to check out the
moon nodes. The north moon node stands for what you are to evolve in your
present lifetime. While the south node shows what energies/experiences that
you have with you from past lifetimes. The best book written on this subject
according to me is Martin Schulman The moon´s nodes and reincarnation. But
really all the planets and points in your chart shows about previous
lifetimes. Some other higly recomended books in this area is Myrna Lofthus A
spiritual approach to astrology and Isabel M. Hickey Astrology a cosmic
science.

Vermutlich. Es kommt schon drauf an, an welchem Datum Sie wo geboren sind. Sommerzeit
gab es in D zwischen 1950 und 1979 keine.
PS: Browser: Konqueror/1.1.2, das klappt nicht sehr gut, nicht wahr?
(mein Desktop ist seit vorgestern Redhat 7.0,
nach vielen Jahren Suse 5.3, aber mit
Konqueror ohne Stylesheets sieht unsere Site doch recht lausig aus. Ich hoffe
auf KDE-2 aber scheue die Installation, da warte ich halt auf Redhat 7.1).

Another strange fact about the election is whenever the electoral year has a
0 in it, there is usualy a saturn/jupiter conjunction that year. The scary

Ha ha, any astrologer worth his salt can tell you what screwed up the United
States Election for President!! IT WAS HELD DURING MERCURY RETROGRADE!! To
all the readers (Alois and his staff excepted because they already know)when
Mercury goes retrograde never sign contracts or start major projects. The
results of do so usually range from bad to horrendous. This is an excellent
reason to learn more about astrology also buy an up to date ephemeris and
learn to read it, you will never be sorry you did.
Here is some of my feeling and interesting facts about the U.S. Presidency as
well a prediction.
I voted for Gore but I think he will lose. Who ever wins has an up hill

so much hate for Kennedy then and it is just like that now for both

Since 1800 every election held at the beginning of a decade twenty years
apart has had unusual results. Out of 9 Presidents elected or reelected in a
year beginning a decade six of them died in office.
1800 Thomas Jefferson elected lived to exit office
1820 There was no Presidential election that year
1840 William Henry Harrison died one month after taking office.
1860 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated while in office.
1880 James Garfield was assassinated while in office.
1900 Theodore Roosevelt elected twice and lived to exit office
1920 Warren Harding died while in office.
1940 Franklin D. Roosevelt reelected and dies in office in early 1945.
1960 John F. Kennedy was assassinated while in office.
1980 Ronald Reagan elected but survived an assassination attempt and lived to
exit office.
2000 Next President will probably die in office.
Why do I say that? Notice a pattern of 1 lives to exit office then 3 die in
office and then 1 lives to exit office and three die in office. With Ronald
Reagan living out his terms of office the death cycle is ready to repeat
itself.

Thanks for your comments regarding the North Node and Pluto, Alois. You have
mentioned before of your disdain for karmic and new-wave crystal waving
astrology...also relating to the North Node and the incorrectly named True
Node. I must say, my understanding is that the Chart can be broken down into
four segments -
1. Ascendant 2. The Descendant 3. North Node and 4. the South Node. The
lower half of the chart relating to the Self, and the Top half relating to
all outside the self ie the world.
Are you saying the North and South Nodes are misappropriated and
misunderstood entirely? The real function to have been corrupted and
disjointed over the years? True enough, the further one seeks to find
information relating to past lives within a chart, the higher the rating on
the magnifying glass seems to be.

some astrological factors as 'teachings' or rules. I am mostly a
computer programmer who dabbles in astrology since 20 years. I am not an
astrologer in the sense that I read charts. I have studied a lot of astrology,
and I have worked closely with excellent astrologers for many years, so I
know a bit about it. Sometimes I just need to ramble. I probably should
not do it in pubic on such a well respected website.
Astrology is not a science with a fixed set of rules, about which there
is general agreement. While it has embodied a lot of collective AND indivitual
experience over the years, it is still closer to an art than to a science.
An artist must find his/her way of doing things, a personal set of rules
or framework, which will differ from the framework of other artists.
Not all picture or sculptures are the same, are they?
The same is true for astrology. Not two astrologers will fully agree what the correct
rules and techniques are.
My great teacher Thomas Ring had a view of the lunar nodes which I really like.
As you probably know, they are the intersection line between the plane of
the Sun's movement (the ecliptic, as seen from earth) and the plane
of the Moon's movement. Thomas Ring accordingly sees the Lunar Nodes as points
in the horoscope where the Lunar sphere (all which Moon stands for,
e.g. our feelings and emotions, the receptivity, imagination and basic
feeling tone of a person, sense of rhythm, time and timing ..)
and the Solar Sphere (actual core of a person, the inner self, of that which
is of central concern, the general vitality and the ability to assert oneself,
general tone of being) meet. Ring looks at the nodes in charts
where there is otherwise no connection between the Sun and Moon, particularily
when either of them is cut off from the rest of the chart, i.e. has no
strong aspects. Then the nodes describe for Ring how those two spheres
are connected.
There are many different ways to see the Lunar nodes; the traditional
view which is still strongly represented in Indian astrology is that they
are the really bad guys. They were called drangon heads and tails, because
of the solar and lunar eclipses which occur only at the nodes, and where the
idea wasy that a dragon eats the Sun.
The 'esoteric' perspective is that the nodes have to do with past or
future lives. I am not very interested in those at the moment, I will deal with
them when I get there.
This is a great site which I very much appreciate. I perfer your new format
over my old astro software and am now using Astrodienst charts for all my
readings. My question has to do with synastry charts. I do a lot of
compatibility readings and when I put a person with a partner in the extended
chart selection page I never get to the synastry chart. Am I missing
something? What am I doing wrong?

Alois adds: On the extended chart selection page, there are many optional settings, which you can all ignore.
The one you need to use however is the pulldown list labeled
'Please select the type of chart you want. '.
Synastry chart is the fifth entry in this list. The 'partner' setting is only observed if you select an appropriate chart type which needs two persons.
I have been trying to discover something for over a year and no one as yet
has been able to help. I wonder if you could.
My daughter, who is two years old, was born on my birthday, May 23rd. And we
not only share the same birthday, but also our hour of birth is either the
same or about one hour apart.
The reason I have a problem is because my daughter was born in Playa del
Carmen, Mexico (near Cancún). The year she was born, 1998, was either the
second or third year that Mexico decided to adopt daylight savings time
(i.e., put the clocks forward an hour in the summer) and I'm not sure that
the astrological charts I've requested take this change of time into account.
On top of that, in 1998, the governor of the state decided that his state
should be in the same time zone as Florida, as that is where most of the
tourists to Cancun come from. It caused quite an uproar since the school
children and many employees had to leave their homes when it was still dark
(about 6:30 or 6:45) and the time change was therefore abandoned about
midsummer of that same year (yes, it was quite caotic).
Anyway, it was still in effect in May. So although my daughter was born
officially at 6:36 in the morning, the real time was actually 4:36 (one hour
for daylight savings and one hour for the governor's whim). If the charts I
requested take into account daylight savings and/or the governor's whim, then
her ascendent is gemini, if not, her ascendent is Taurus.
Also, I was born in Los Angeles, California in 1963 at 4:23 am. If daylight
savings was not observed that year (and I haven't been able to find that out
yet either) then my daughter and I were born on the same day and only 13
minutes apart (and 35 years, but who's counting?)
Could you help me? I'd like to know if daylight savings was observed in L.A.
in 1963 and what my daughter's ascendent really is.

back in the zodiac than it was two weeks ago, because, when it is retrograde
it goes backward.
We have both, nicely printable ephemerides and graphiocal ephemerides on
the site, so you can easily look up the movement of the planets. When you do
that and compare it with your chart drawing, you get the complete picture, all
by yourself.
i am wondering why, after using astrodienst for two years, that i now have a
one degree difference in my calculated ascendant, and my progressed ascendant
has changed by almost three degrees from calculations previously made on the
site.

complete data, if you want us to check anything. The outcome of a calculation depends on the data you put in. If you enter a different time or place,
you get a different Ascendant.
We might even be able to check two-year old logfiles, if you can tell us
the date you ran a chart and the name you used on it, and the birth data.
It is a lot of work to dig out those old log files, but we take claims
of fals calculation quite serious - and they have always proved to be
false claims. Contrary to many websites, we understand what we are doing.

It is the user who makes the choice to stick with the restricted account or not.
It was like that since we started the new software. It is highly recommended
to read the text which appears on pages. I really sometimes wonder what visitors
complain about when the explanation text makes it so obvious.
The My Astro page says in the help text at the bottom of the page:
To upgrade your account to a fully registered account, please click on the link marked "Become a
Registered User". Advantages: You can log in to the same account from any computer and have
access to your Astro data when you travel or when you use a friends computer. As a registered user,

We liked it the way it was in '99. It would automaticly have the the chart
for the current present moment -you didnt have to type in the present date
cuz it was already there. Dude, we realy dont like having to go back to my

anything so it has no purpose. Me ad my partner type in like 500 charts a day

Hello all my fellow twins. If I'm not mistaken, I posted this question when I
first started reading the guestbook back in July, but I never got a reply, so
I'll ask again. If there are any astrological twins of mine out there, please
reply. I'm a sun sign Gemini, with Aquarius rising. And my moon is in Taurus,
though that isn't absolutely neccesary when responding.

I also have a question(s) about family and astrology etc. Exluding house
aspects, I was wondering if you tend to find a lot of significant (Opposed,
Conjuct, Square) aspects regarding sun signs in family members. I'm wondering
because I'm a Gemini, as my father is, and we are both opposed my youngest
brother's sun, which is in Sagittarius (His moon is in Scorpio, opposing my
Taurus moon also). Also, my mother is a sun sign Scorpio, which is opposed to
my other brother's Taurus sun (Who's moon is in Aquarius, squared her sun). I
dont want to get too complicated, so I'll leave it at that, but I'm sure you
also see some of the significant aspects in mine and my brother's moons to
each other's sun. From your experience, do things like this tend to happen
often???
I'd also like to say that even though you have told me before that
relationships are largely influenced my house aspects, and other planets, I
do believe that basic astrological aspects, like sun to sun, and moon to sun,
play very large rolls in a relationship, and can be very pronounced at times.
I can say this because of the four people in my life that are closest to me,
two are Pisces, and one is a Virgo. (I must have had it a little too easy in
a past life)
One more thing, I know this is probably redundant to you by now, but I've got
to say that this site surpasses all others I've found online. All of us out
here really appreciate the hard work and dedication you put into perfecting
the site and responding to our (pretty dumb at times) constant questions. And
thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

Relating to the inquiry on the relevance of Pluto, I myself have found
interpretations of Pluto to be particularly relevant to myself (being a
Double Scorpio with my North Node also in Scorpio). I have read Jeffrey Wolf
Green's books on Pluto and have found his insight to be very provocative and
beneficial. Have you been able to read his work? I'm wondering why you
believe Pluto's interpretations to be overestimated. Also, if Pluto is
overly interpreted, then would you say that Scorpios should really focus on
Mars, it being the ancient ruler? Does the same hold true of every sign that
has a modern and ancient ruler? Again, I find the modern ruler to be
extremely relevant in interpretating charts and life themes as a whole.

Our list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) accessible from the
Homepage contains a section on twins. I quote:
Twins often have almost the same birth chart - and yet they are
different, separate people. How is this to be explained?
Each chart contains several inner themes or archetypal figures,
depending on what term you use. Usually, these themes are the life
scenario of one single person, who will be able to identify easily
and gladly with some of them, while "projecting" other parts onto
people and things around him. Twins divide the chart up between
them. Usually, the "alpha twin" is stronger and takes his or her
pick of the themes, leaving the rest to the other. This
distribution of contents can change in the course of a life.
Research on twins has shown that when twins are separated, they
often grow up living very similar lives, since they can both take
on those themes, which naturally come up first, without the risk of
losing identity.
Liz Greene writes about this issue in the Child's Horoscope introduction:
This child is one of a pair of twins. He/she shares with the other
twin an almost identical birth horoscope. But any parent of twins
will recognise that each has his or her own distinctive

try especially hard to define their own psychological territory,

unconsciously avoid sharing qualities, which they fear will make
them too like the other. The perceptive parent may observe that in

out personality traits which the other was displaying a little
while earlier. The polarising process sets in a little while later
on. As they grow older and develop separate lives twins usually
find it easier to own and express those qualities they "gave away"
to the other twin in early life. And the unique spark of
individuality within will always ensure that, even if they look
alike, they will remain distinct individuals with a unique journey
through life.

A question - its been said, which ever house Pluto lands in, is the obsession
of the individual. Does this sound correct Alois?
If the North Node also falls in the same house as Pluto, could this be said
to be benefical ie, the obsession of the individual correlating with the path
or future direction?

Obsession is a strong word. I have had
a quick look the house placements of Pluto in my list of family and
friends, keeping your aphorism in mind. I would say that I do not agree, Pluto's
house placement does not indicate the area of obsession. Not every person has
one, really, or they have several. People are a mixed bunch, simple rules
don't fit all, and often you have to beat them hard to make them fit.
Still, such aphoristic rules have their value and throw some light into
the always complex interpretation of an astrological symbol or archetype.
But keep in mind, whatever you say about a planet, and is shorter than ten
pages, will be a limited view of the truth.
Why a Pluto-Node conjunction should be particularily beneficial espcapes
me. The master of obsession meets Rahu, the devourer?
Like Pluto, the Lunar nodes are fashionable objects in some circles of modern
astrology, and have attracted all kinds of 'spiritual' and 'karmic'
interpretations. I have some doubts about the value of karmic speculation.
Often it is used as an easy way out, instead of dealing with the nitty-gritty
issues of one's life and one's shadow.
I am very curious about the world of wisdom cd rom. I would like to know if
it gives more in depth reports than what you offer for free?? If so I would
love to have more information on the product. by the way your site is great
as if you already didn't know. I also have a question for liz green if she
would take the time to answer.. what is it like having the green party for
the goverment set up. I am very pro green party I would just like to know if
it is really as wonderful as it sounds if so I would like to dedicate most of

forecast. Please be aware that we are just selling
this program (as many other websites do), but we have nothing further to
do with its content, which is written by Adrian Duncan. We liked it when we
saw it, and it was available in a bilingual English/German edition, which is
rare among PC astrology software. Adrian's writing stands out of what you find in other PC programs.
Please note that Liz Greene is spelled
with an extra 'e'. I don't think Liz will want to talk about her political
opinions here. A can assure you however that she is not affiliated
with any of the 'green' parties which exists in various countries (in Germany
they share government).
I think your web site is great exept for one thing.... I don't completely

understand though. I was born May,1969 in Alberta, Canada. The chart my
astrology instructor did for me says Mountain Standard Time...yet when I do
my birthchart on your system it says Mountain Daylight Time. My teacher says
that Alberta was not on Daylight time until 1972! Help!!If this is so, all my

In 1967 and 1969 there was a small part of Alberta which had
daylight saving time. You did not mention the town were you were born.
Out of our list of about 320 towns in Alberta, 9 are affected by this rule.
These are:
Devon,AB,53n22,113w44
Edmonton,AB,53n33,113w28
Fort Saskatchewan,AB,53n43,113w13
Gibbons,AB,53n50,113w20
Leduc,AB,53n16,113w33
Legal,AB,53n57,113w35
Morinville,AB,53n48,113w39
Sherwood park,AB,53n31,113w19
St Albert,AB,53n38,113w38
These are all near Edmonton, and I do not know why this area
deviated from the rest of Alberta. Our source is Thomas Shanks, International
Atlas, ACS.
I tend to believe the sources which present finer details better than those who
claim 'all of the state followed the same rule'. Why should someone invent
the fine detail?
To get the truth, I recommend you research local newspaper archives in
Edmonton. The dates for turning DST on and off were 23 April 1967 - 29 Oct,
and 27 April 1969 to 26 October. Usually the newspapers print something in the days
around the time change date, often in the weather section
where also information like sunrise / sunset is mentioned. Please let us know
if you find anything out.
It should have been mentioned in the paper if Edmonton deviated from the rest
of the state.
Just to give you an idea of the complexity of timezone changes in some parts
of central Canada,
I quote below another source, concerning Saskatchewan (this source however
makes no mention of any exceptions in Alberta). Obviously there is a lot of
research to be done, and it must be done by the Canadian astrological community,
because astrologers are the only group of the population for whome the
precise history of timezones and daylight saving time is essential.

From Paul Eggert (2000-10-02):
Shanks writes that since 1970 most of this region has been like Regina.
Some western towns (e.g. Swift Current) switched from MST/MDT to CST in 1972.
Other western towns (e.g. Lloydminster) are like Edmonton.
Matthews and Vincent (1998) write that Denare Beach and Creighton
are like Winnipeg, in violation of Saskatchewan law.
From W. Jones (1992-11-06):
The. . .below is based on information I got from our law library, the
provincial archives, and the provincial Community Services department.
A precise history would require digging through newspaper archives, and
since you didn't say what you wanted, I didn't bother.
Saskatchewan is split by a time zone meridian (105W) and over the years
the boundary became pretty ragged as communities near it reevaluated
their affiliations in one direction or the other. In 1965 a provincial
referendum favoured legislating common time practices.
On 15 April 1966 the Time Act (c. T-14, Revised Statutes of
Saskatchewan 1978) was proclaimed, and established that the eastern
part of Saskatchewan would use CST year round, that districts in
northwest Saskatchewan would by default follow CST but could opt to
follow Mountain Time rules (thus 1 hour difference in the winter and
zero in the summer), and that districts in southwest Saskatchewan would
by default follow MT but could opt to follow CST.
It took a few years for the dust to settle (I know one story of a town
on one time zone having its school in another, such that a mom had to
serve her family lunch in two shifts), but presently it seems that only
a few towns on the border with Alberta (e.g. Lloydminster) follow MT
rules any more; all other districts appear to have used CST year round
since sometime in the 1960s.
Tina writes later: I was told that this error regarding daylight
time in
Alberta has been rectified on the most recent astrology programs..after some
AB astrologers wrote to the company and complained. I do know the Edmonton
Public library has an online service now and it does have a blurb about
daylight time in it's reference? file. Keep up the good work
Astrodienst...your service is greatly appreciated, you do awesome work.

Later: I received email from Ariane Hughes who reports
that she has personally researched the newspaper archives in Edmonton for
the dates in question. She finds no indication of DST in 1967 and 1969, while
the later undisputed switch to DST in 1972 is reported as expected.
Given this information, we have updated our database and deleted the DST
for the 9 towns listed above in 1967 and 69. Thank you, Ariane.

noticed a change in the readings, and I was wondering about the reason
When I first signed on, my free reading forecast some intriguing development
in the immediate future. For example, it said I would encounter a period of
renewed creativity in November, and in December, I would start a relationship
with someone I was drawn to.
But when I checked the forecast again, about a week ago, all the forecasts
had changed. The positive forecasts were replaced with somewhat negative,
non-committal messages about the future.
What happened?

Alois adds: The 'short report forecast' is not a complete reading of your upcoming trends.
It makes a selection. Now, when a different period of time is considered, it is possible
that some transits wich made it through the selection process a few weeks before now
don't make it. They have been pushed aside by other, later developments.
It is a good idea to print the forecast out when you run it, and refer to the printed
copy. This will not change! By combining this printout with a new forecast a few months
later you can actually get a more complete picture.
The still better idea is to order either the report 'Transits of the Year' by Robert Hand,
or 'Yearly Horoscope Analysis' by Liz Greene. There the issues are really evaluated
and the important themes are specifically shown as such. The reading is much more in-depht
than the free short report.
Please visit the samples section (link in left column on the homepage) for complete examples.
my cousin's teenage son was recently fatally stabbed a couple of days after
his 18th birthday. I did his chart and a forcast on your site, the final
sentence of the third paragraph read.......'avoid sharp objects especially
made of metal'...........

My question is about the planetoid, Chiron. I know that it is the wounded

But all kinds of opinions are around in astrological circles, there
is not one concise set of rules. Some astrologers believe in their own
omnipotence and omniscience, and of course they find their followers. So
you will certainly find someone who claims to read charts for souls in
heaven, hell or wherever they like them to be.
I don't understand in reviewing all the complaints of changing data... it is
so easy..I like your site and it is now my favourite. One new feature that
would be nice (but difficult I know... is) an automatic e-mail of the daily
horoscopes.

There must be something wrong with me. Despite the wonderful praises that
your horoscopes are recieving around the world, I can't seem to find any
connections between mine and my personality, nor between your daily readings
and the events in my life. I felt that it was perhaps because I do not live
where I was born, but now I have made the adjustment for the place of
reference , but the predictions hardly changed. I really like the way the
site is set up though.
Why don't you use the transits of the lunar nodes when you make predictions.
Are they irrelevant? I was under the impression that they are important.
Do you do Astrocartography stuff too? I am going to be living in Holland for
a few months and I would like to see what it holds in store for me.

I think most of the praise we receive is for the Astro*Intelligence
reports which we SELL and which are unique among astrological computer reports.
Our free reports are more simplistic in approach (they
are at least as good as the stuff which other sites charge money for).
They have their value too for entertainment and learning of single factor
readings.
To create a report is a LOT OF WORK and the talent to write good - even
cookbook - text is rare. The rights to use material for publishing are
very expensive. Astrodienst AG has paid six-digit dollar figures for the rights on the
text we use now for free readings, not to mention editing, translation and
programming cost. For many astrological techniques or chart
factors we simply do not possess report quality text material. The absence
of reports or of readings for particular elements does not imply that we
consider them unimportant.
Regarding your question about other services we offer: Please look around on the
site. We are not the easter bunny and do not hide our eggs.
If you don't find it, it probably does not exists.
Can i get a free chart from you based on Koch houses? Thanks for considering

I recently purchased a personal Horoscope Calendar and am trying to compare
it to some of the free info on-line. I'm not disappointed (and do understand
that the freebie version is less detailed), but wonder how some of the longer
transits are measured.
For instance:
Moon in the 12th House 12 exact at 08:34
activity period from 3 November 2000 to 6 November 2000.
Is this time exact on the first day of activity, the published day of
activity, some point in-between? And they don't necessarily show up in my
purchased manual, even though the activity is over a short time period.

Alois adds: In the case of a house transit, it is the moment when the
planet crosses the house cusp. In the printed version, you have to read the duration from the time scale graphics. We had to save space in the narrow daily
column. In the online edition we have more space (you can scroll), but no
graphics, so that we use words.
In the general case, to explain the duration of a particular transits
is not trivial because of the complicated back-and-forth movement
of most planets. The transits are measured from first entry into orb to last exit from orb. For the outer planets, this can be several years!
In the printed calendar, there is a graphical 'time bar' indicating that.
As an example, see the page

Please scroll to the rigth bottom of that page, for Wednesday 15 Oct 1997, Saturn
trine Pluto. There is a dotted 'time bar' from Ju 97 to Fe 98. When it is dotted,
the transit is out of orb, when it is solid, it is in orb. The begin of that particular
transit is to the left off the time scale, indicated by tiny arrows.
In the daily horoscope it would probably say: Saturn trine Pluto, from Jan 1997 to Feb 1998.
The information in the printed calendar is more precise as it lets you differentiate the
active from the passive phases. But of course the transit is important all the time, until
it is finally over.

There is content in horoscopes readings which may not be right to express
for young children. It is an important distinction. The Love and Sex horoscope
for example is not available under 14.

life diagram, does it come with interpretations and how much is it (I didn't
see it on the order form). I also just wanted to tell you all thank you for
providing such a wonderful service. I haven't seen a site near as good as

Our reports are clearly indicated as such in the report selection, and for none of the technical
chart products we offer an interpretation. They originally were developed for astrologers
for use in their practice, e.g. the progressive digarams for Reinhold Ebertin himself.
Hi! Found you by accident last week when I was looking for an Ephemeris to
do a quick check at work (don't bring my astro materials with me to the
office). Anyway, I've plugged into the system and I think it's very good. I

gives birth place of Pittsburgh, Pa. However, I live in Cincinnati. On the
daily reading it says it's effective for Pittsburgh. How might I get it

Dana Dorfinn regarding Hitler and libra ascendant. I have studied astrology

correct. The majority of serial killers have libra asc.! Though, Hitlers

and indeed has short spells of forward motion. I personally use the

Regardless of how great everyone thinks your system is, there is always room
for improvement. If you are going to provide a service to the public, whether
it BE FREE or NOT, Astrodienst should be open to user feedback. It is called
'customer service' and a very big part of daily consumer life in Canada. I
have heard that customer service in the USA is sorely lacking, which is
probably why Darlene (or whatever her name was) will take anything she can
get for free..the lady from Los Angeles? that responded to my last comment
of the 26th of October.
I have taken your suggestion, Alois, and read your directions but I find them
very confusing and not simple or concise...in short they do not answer my
questions.
I do not like the fact that I can only do up 4 charts before I have to go in
a delete them to put up more charts. This is time consuming and a
distraction.
So I registered for your 100 chart bonus deal. Only to find that I am unable
to edit the data on a chart I had posted. I have tried many times to get to a
new set of data...even deleting the data I had posted in my new hundred chart
folder, and it still will not let me change the chart that shows up...WHY?
Basically, I keep mysteriously going back to the initial data I posted when I
first logged on.
Now...in closing I will not dispute you provide a very valuable service...and
it is appreciated by myself and other astrologers I am in contact with.
Since the Swiss pride themselves on their superior craftsmanship....in all
areas, like making chocolate, carpentry, banking systems...etc. etc. I hope

Mrs Dana Dorfinn, Micheal Jordans ascendant IS Tauras. He was born on Febuary
17, 1963 nospam 10:20am in Brooklyn New York. I feel, as well as many others that
Hindu astrology and moving the ascendant back and forth is not accurate at
all. Tropical has the most credibility and all the others seem to be fluff.
It is trivial to say that having a Aries ascendant makes a better athlete
than a Taurus sighn (its a myth). Mr. Jordans persona AND planets are
consistent with his ascendant. Getting to Hitlers chart, his ascendant is
niether Taurus or Aries BUT LIBRA. Hitler was a hypnotic speaker and this
could be attributed to the fact that he has a Uranus opposition Mercury on
his ascendant. Like Jordan its also trivial to say that Hitlers ascendant
couldnt be Libra because he was sutch a horrible man. I mean thats just a
narrow view, cookbook astrology -right Alois?

Your site is wonderful! I also have chart software at home, but I love being
able to access your site from anywhere and get a chart.
I have two suggestions for improvement, though. First, I often do charts for
right now to see what the current positions of planets is, and it would be
really nice to be able to get a current chart by simply entering my location
(seems like it should not be too hard to calculate what date and time it is
at that location). As it stands, I have to add a person called Today, then
edit that person's data every time I want a current chart.
Second, it would be really nice to be able to save preferences for chart
settings. I have certain settings I always use, like Koch houses, display the
major asteroids (Juno, Ceres, Vesta, Pallas Athena), use 75% size (because
the 100% prints too big for US standard size paper). I saw at least one
other person suggested this, and you said they could actually already do this
by bookmarking the chart output page, but this method doesn't save settings
for the asteroids (it works for the house system).
Anyway, thanks for making this great site available! I've recommended your
site to lots of other astrology students.

Two ways to access it:
a) in the natal entry form, please click on the [i] button in front of the
date field, and in the help popup click on 'special date entry' and read
the top item. It is anyway really worthwile to click on any [i] button
if you find one. They contain rather helpful context sensitive [i]nformation.
b) from the home page, use the link 'Old Atlas Access' in the left column.
This is probably the more convenient method.
Please be aware that also each 'Chart of the Moment' gets stored in your
account. You will occasionally have to use the 'my atro' page to delete
some of the unwanted items, to avoid filling up too many data.
This website is continually moving forward, evolving and I cannot even begin
to tell you how it has changed my life. Thank you...

Thanks so much for this site. The new changes are much
better where it
keeps a record of all chart data under one user name. I would, of
course,
like to have more than the alloted number. We have five daughters
and ten
grand children and it was nice to be able to enter and save the
data for each
so we can go back and check things without having to reenter all
the birth
info again and again. Would you consider increasing the number?
Also, on
the Free Horoscope page an option to switch to a different
person/chart would
be helpful at the top like on the daily page.

Alois adds: I don't quite understand. The limit is currently 100 natal data for
a registered account. Should really be enough.
Any horoscope output page has a person pulldown. The page where you make the choices
does not need one, really (and would technically hard to implement). If you come from
'My Astro', the person you clicked there is already pre-selected. Otherwise just make
the person selection in the chart output page. If you want to work with a particular person's
chart for a longer period, make it the 'top choice' in 'My Astro' with the red-arrow feature.
Comments: Your services are outstanding, and particularly the new
database.
Nevertheless I would like to suggest two further improvements:
1. A sort function for the Astro Data.
2. A possibility to save user preferences for drawing the chart
wheels (chart
style, house system, size etc.)

1) not trivial, the space in the person pulldown is tight, and there are often
same-name entries, so it is a good idea to keep them in order of creation.
Anyway, we do not intend to replace your own astrology software fully when it
comes to large data collections. A tip: keep several named accounts.
2) a bookmark into the chart output page will do that for you quite well.
You can then select any chart of another person with the same set of settings you chose for
this bookmarked chart, by using the person pulldown list.
A bookmark into the settings page would not do, as its url does not contain your chosen
settings, only the chart page contains the settings in the URL.
To the message: Looking at the Basketball Great Micheal Jordans chart I
notice his ascendant is Tauras -It makes sence on the acount of the planets
being in the right houses and to his persona. BUT TAURAS?? Arent these people
slow, fat and dimwited lazy with no direction but to sit on the couch
watching television. I dont know, I just dont know...

Hi, I am not aware of Michael Jordans date, but it is very probable that in
sidereal astrology, Michael Jordan is ascendant Aries. You can verify this in
the extended chart selection by changing from Western geocentric (tropical)
to hindu geocentric (sidereal) (although I dont completely understand the
association with hindu, because its far from the truth to say only hindus use
this kind of charts, it should be called eastern or ancient because how
astrology started was by looking up in the sky, and so sidereal). Please
write back your results, I am very interested in the conclusion. One famous
case of ascendant taurus that doesnt fit in tropical astrology is the case of
Hitler! Hitler ascendant taurus? Seems weird, but in sidereal, wich fallows
the true movement of the stars and constellations, he is aries, doesnt it
make a bit more sense(the sign of success and ambition)! You think what you
want, and keep on your search for the truth. Also to webmaster, I find it
quite deceiving that you seem to answer only to the emails you choose to. I
wrote a very nice email asking simple question seeking information about your
site 1 day ago and you just decided to skip it.. Anyway keep on the good work!

Indeed I make my personal choices about what I like to answer. I don't know why
that would be 'deceiving'. It is obvious, for any reader of this guestbook.
The question you had asked - offering different techniques for interpretation -
has been answered in this guestbook several times. Web browsers have a feature 'search within
page..' so that it is not hard to search within the guestbook archive for keywords.
technique might be a good keyword. oct 3 2000 ist one of the recent days when this questions was
answered.
Recently I have answered more questions than usual, mostly concerning the great changes on
our site for which I have to answer. By the way, we even have a FAQ list now, accessible from the
homepage. It is not yet as extensive as I would like it to be, but it does answer some frequently

Alois adds: Yes, please use the 'My Astro' page. Three options serve your purpose
- delete individual records of your choice
- disconnect from the account,and then close the browser. This will remove the cookie stored
in your browser, and your data cannot be accessed. If it was only a guest account, even youself
cannot get them back. If it was a named account, you can connect back into it
with your email and password. You will have to disconnect each time you have
accessed your account, though, if you are not on your private computer.
For users on their private computer of course the cookie is extremely practical.
- disable cookies on your computer (not recommended because they are useful and many sites
will not work without them. Ours does, but it is less practical.
Thanks again for having this wonderful information available for everyone. I
have a question about the dates used for the events listed in the forcast
section. They differ from the date for the same event (transits) shown on
the daily chart selection. I'm not sure if the format is to show when the
most significant events are occurring in relationship to everything in the
chart or if there are errors. I know certain transits show up on the daily
forcast on some days and not others even though the dates are in effect.
Reading the information about the selection process the programming uses I
understand the intent. I'm wondering if it is the same for the forcast
section. Thanks for clarifing.

PLEASE: use the bug report form (see bottom of most pages for a link)
and record exactly all steps you make, to allow our support staff to reproduce the problem.
With all steps we mean: from the moment you contact our website, plaese describe every keypress
or mouseclick you make, until the problem appears.
please use two windows, one with the bug report form to enter the description of your steps
(you can also use your email program and address the mail to nospamastro.ch),
the other with the normal view were you perform your data entry.
I am afraid this tedious procedure is the only way to communicate to us precisely what
problem you encounter. If we cannot observe a problem ourselves, we cannot fix it.
In the natal data entry form, make sure that you have filled in every field. If there is a
red warning message near any field, you must read the message and modify the data accordingly. Unless
you modify all data so that no red warning message remains, you will never be able to complete
data entry, even when you hit the 'continue' button with a hammer.
I was never so lost on your web site as I am now. It used to be really easy
to go up, calculate a chart quickly, and then go. Most of the charts that I
calculate are not worth my saving them at this site. Also, when I calculate
a partner's chart, the reports still comment on the original entry, not the
partner's info.
It is too difficult to just calculate a chart quickly. For me, the site
redesign fails to quickly provide a chart like it used to.

on the new site. Every horoscope output page has now a pulldown list to choose
the person for which you want this horoscope. You will find this a great time saver
if you want to look at several people's charts. A good starting point
is the 'My Astro' page.
90% of the visitors on the site are not newcomers, but have run charts before.
The website it optimized to give them their charts quickly, without ever having
to re-enter data.

Aus Datenschutzgründen wird normalerweise nur die betreffende Person selbst die Auskunft beim
Geburtenregister erhalten können. Anfragen sollte man schriftlich machen, ein Retourcouvert
beilegen, ausdrücklich 'Auszug aus dem Geburtenregister mit Uhrzeit' verlangen, nicht einfach
eine Geburtsurkunde. Als Beleg für die Autorisierung solte man die Namen der Eltern genau
mit angeben. Die Beilage von ca. 10 CHF bzw dem Aequivalent in fremder Währung in bar fördert
die Auskunftsfreude des Verwaltungspersonals.
Sie können in unserer Eingabemaske die Uhrzeit aber sehr wohl auf 'unbekannt' stellen.
dann wird nur eine stark eingeschränkte Horoskopauswahl möglich sein. Es hat absolut keinen Sinn,
diese Einschränkung durch Eingabe einer Phantasiezeit zu umgehen.
Hi, your site is terrific. Its user friendly and is great for learning the
basics. But as I progress along my learning of astrology I am interested in
using charts of other types of astrology that you offer in your extended
chart selection, and I find it very deceiving that I cant get the great
interpretations I get while using tropical astrology, as for the other charts
that you propose in the extended chart selection.
Will this be available oneday? I would love to interpret different kind of
charts with your great software and be able to compare the different
astrologys. I think its important for everyone searching the truth to be open
minded and not set on one type of astrology before exploring other possible

techniques and offering to teach people how to use your site effectively in
their work? I know that there are people who would easily pay 50 or 100 for
a full-day class to learn about the all the alternative chart presentations

An event chart is a natal
chart of a non-person, where you mark the 'gender' as event. Of course you can
create such a chart, why would otherwise the gender choice 'event' exist?
I do not know what 'a daily chart accessible with time zone changes' is supposed
to be. Please explain what you are talking about. Please try to name the thing
properly. A 'chart' in the context of astrology is a drawing with the round zodiac.
If you speak about something else, please make it very clear what you mean.
The quickest way to create a 'Chart of the moment' is via the link 'Old Atlas Query'
in the left column of the homepage, the last in the section 'Astrodienst Services'.
Like most links, this remained unchanged from the previous release of the website.
The only difference is that those links are not underlined now, but if you move your mouse
over them the cursor becomes a little pointing finger as with all clickable objects.
This tries to indicate that you can click on it.
Thank you for updating your site. It was wonderful before because your
observations are so well-articulated, but now it is easier to read and quite
modern-looking. Nice job. Good site, best on the Web of its kind.

We don't produce software to run on PCs, it is a market which never interested
me - I always liked the bigger irons in computing. I personally think that astrology software will
become a still smaller niche market than it is now, as free web application servers like ours will be
better solutions for the vast majority of users.

found the new system not so 'user friendly' : however after one week I am

Alois adds: The site produces GIF images in various sizes (see choices in extended
chart selection). The print quality provided by web browsers is lousy because
they tend to print everything in low resolution. This is not under control of a page
designer but a property of Netscape or IE. To get best quality, run the images in 150%
mode, and then click on the image with your right mouse button, and use 'save as..'
into a local GIF file. Later, open this file with your favourite image editor
and print it.
The possibilities you are asking for have always been there, but you must understand how
to operate your browser.
