Astrology and the path to the stars

How do human beings relate to the sky and what stories do they tell about it? A three-day conference in Zurich (8 to 10 April 2011) is discussing astrology in a cultural and historical context. The speakers Nick Campion, Liz Greene and Bernadette Brady are internationally renowned astrologers and researchers who draw on ideas from ancient and classical teachings as well as modern psychology to examine astrological notions of the horoscope as a map, locating humanity within a celestial environment.

Astrology is back at the university

The conference also provides information about the MA programme run by the Sophia Centre at University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UK). Nick Campion is the course director and senior lecturer, Liz Greene and Bernadette Brady are supporting as tutors. The MA programme is unique and a milestone in the academic landscape. Taught in distance learning, the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology enables students from all over the world to study astrology at university level. Cultural astronomy is defined as “the study of the application of beliefs about the stars to all aspects of human culture, from religion and science to the arts and literature” (The Sophia Centre).
