In the year 1996, there was no Google, no Youtube and no Facebook... In August 1996, however, a small Swiss company by the name of ASTRODIENST went online with its own website! Today, we celebrate Astrodienst's 20-year internet anniversary.

At that time, nobody could know how important the Internet would become in our lives today, and how it would change the whole culture on this planet. Some might remember the days when they had to connect to the internet with a modem via the telephone line...

To start with, the World Wide Web was a welcome opportunity for Astrodienst to present its horoscopes to a larger and above all a world-wide audience. But soon it became clear that the true power of the Internet was its interactive nature. As early as 1999, www.astro.com presented the Personal Daily Horoscope which was calculated using the exact birth data for every single visitor. Shortly after came the free calculation of chart drawings, quickly followed by more and more online horoscope interpretations for the ever-expanding community.

Today, 20 years later, the Internet has pervaded all areas of our lives and it is impossible to imagine what our everyday life would be like without it. The total number of websites has now exceeded a billion. www.astro.com is still part of it and has reached the field of the top 10'000 sites. In August 1997, we counted about 30'000 visits, now we have around 9 millions per month.

We are proud that our small company with its small team is in the vanguard of the net, and we are glad that our offers are appreciated by so many people from all over the world!

If you want to see for yourself how www.astro.com has changed from 1997 until today, you can view snapshots of the website with the "Wayback Machine" at www.archive.org.
