Yea, I want to know....
What is the purpose of astrology? Why 'is' astrology? Why is it there for, and...where is it suppose to take every individual in the end?
They sound like karmic lessons---because it's not fair that some people have it better than others in life.
Oh and, do I have an astrological soul mate?
(or various)
I am, 08/26/1986/1:20 PM, San Jose Costa Rica, for example,--is the other person, suppose to be the exact opposite, or close to it?

I'd hate to loose this service .Maybe you could let me know which of my email addresses you have in association with this site. They are :abbey* and abrown* you abbey Adler

I'm not sure who i should send this question to, but i am wondering if when i order a report on vocation and career, does it take into account time and place of birth, or just the date? That is, am i sharing it with 2 or 3 other people, or millions. just curious. thanks

Alois adds: All of our reports require the complete birth information (date, precise time and location) and very much depend on it. In the average, the Ascendant changes every two hours, and planets move from one house to the next within two hours. These house placements of the planets play an important role in the reading of a chart.

I've found this website amazingly accurate. I do have a question though - how is it that meanings and interpretations that have come from convention (which are surely historical and changing) have this kind of tie to astronomical configurations? I have no doubt as to the explanatory power of astrology in terms of psychological tendencies, but I'm unclear as to how the associated meanings have such a correlation with cosmic motion. Please direct me to some explanation, if no one is willing to resond in this forum directly. thank you

Dear Alois,
I made a question about Sidereal astrology November 7th, on which I would like some insight because I truly don't know much about astrology. The issue is a person was explaining me that he read that the actual zodiac is not right and that instead of me being a capricorn I would be a sagittarius... I honestly didn't like the idea of giving up my capricorn sign... So, I would like to ask if sidereal and tropical (if that's the name) exclude each other or if they can be used to analyze different issues.

Alois adds: Please see the article 'Precession and zodiac' at

Homepage -> Understanding astrology -> advanced articles

Personally, I consider 'sideral astrology' a concept based on false assumptions.

Around late summer of 2001 I had you do a full Career and Vocation for myself. Just wanted to mention that this was a most insiteful profile. It has been fundimental in getting me focused on a path trully alligned with my native talents and abilities as well as keeping my priorities in order. It was trully a revelation to see the depest aspects of myself, my drives and purpose, often sensed, finally validated in a very concrete fashion. That constantly nagging little voice, (a life long haunting presence), that I'm not fulfilling a/my karmic(?) purpose has finally been silenced....Thanks for your help and guidance....Adam

Alois adds: The feedback area is a different matter. It is a public webpage, which is readably to anyone in the world. There are villains out there who scan websites and look for email addresses published on them. They collect these email addresses for spam purposes.

We have no power to prevent that. When you use 'Write a feedback entry', the page where you enter the feedback contains this warning:
WARNING: If you publish your e-mail address, readers of the guestbook will be able to contact you directly. There is a risk that your e-mail address could be used to send you advertising or unwelcome private messages.

Besides the email entry field on the feedback page there is another note: Please consider the warning on top of the page!

If a feedback writer adds his/her email address for the public to see anyway, it is his/her own choice. Often a guestbook writer wants to allow readers to contact him/her directly.

The guestbook page itself contains also a warning to spammers on top. But you should be aware that in reality we have no power to prevent any such abuse.

Please understand that this has NOTHING to do with our registered user database. The problem is with the PUBLIC guestbook, not with our SECURE user database.

We have recently started to disguise published email addresses in the guestbook. While this will not prevent humans from recognizing the disguise and from using the email address, the disguise (with .xyz to the left and right of the *) might offer some protection against spam-robots who collect email addresses from the public pages on the Internet and place the addresses in spam mailing lists. The disguised email addresses will not work.

Please understand that Astrodienst has an active anti-spam policy. However, we do not know how one can publish an email address for the purpose of receiving mail, and prevent spammers from using it at the same time.

Spam filtering on your incoming mailbox is the best current choice. We hope for an international law to put heavy fines on spammers and on all those who support them by providing the technical infrastructure.

Ever since you began your mailing list a few weeks ago, I have been getting spam mails in German. Do you sell your email lists? I am unhappy about this and if it does not stop I will have to ask you to remove my email address from your list.

--- Friday, November 29, 2002 at 00:45 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: Certainly not. Astrodienst treats the registered user database and the customer database as sacred. The only purpose we use our mailing list for is to send our own mailings, once or twice a year. We would NEVER give it out.

Dear freinds,
it's my birthday and I want to thank you for your excellent homepage. Personally I am ergular user of long term astrological perspectives and yearly horoscopes. I also use daily horoscopes whenever I feel I get stuck with some personal problem. I appreciate your clear and sensitive access to psychological themes both in words and in pictures.

As a long time student of Astrology and myself and astrology 'buff', I feel that I must speak-out on one of the transit reports. The transit Chiron square Neptune, called
Nightmares is off the mark! How did you arrive at such negative reportage? The Aspect itself? How can it be so off? Who does these reports? I used to think your group was very accurate, but lately I am disappointed in the negative turn some of these reports have taken...

Daily personal horoscope reports are usually informative/insightful. Thank-you for all of the wonderful Astrological services offered by your group and the many free hours of entertainment to enjoy!

your picture for my personal daily horoscope (a perfect balance) is highly inappropriate and overtly sexual in nature. it is clearly a woman on her back with her legs spread wide open with a dark cavernous gap in the middle and she is looking toward the right. i am disgusted! you should be ashamed of yourselves and it is not funny at all.

i enjoy your site- it is very accurate and insightful, but your pictures are extremely grotesque and obscure. please consider another way to convey the horoscope in an artistic, non-sexual form.

Ashamed in Switzerland adds: I am sorry if you took offense in one of our illustrations. You have probably made many readers curious and they are clicking like mad in the daily horoscope to get to view that picture you describe so vividly. It is this one: .

Most visitors appreciate the associative illustrations of the daily horoscope pages, but sometimes we receive feedback like yours - so far three times, all from women in the USA.

We value the opinion of our visitors highly and have created a solution for your problem:
My Astro -> View/edit preferences -> Suppress images in daily horoscope -> activate checkbox

With that setting you can enjoy the reading of the daily horoscope without being bothered by pictures which you find obscure and which in rare cases might stimulate sexual phantasies of women. We are aware that nudity in art has been a controversial issue since thousands of years, and that not all people in all cultures agree on that subject.

The illustrations used in the daily horoscope are original pen-and-ink drawings and collages created for Astrodienst by the German artist and professor for history of art, Gerda Maier Kren. If you want to learn more about these illustrations, please see my answer below to a question on 25-Nov-2002.

Cannot get to your e-mail orders. Our server has some sort of configuration problem. I have enjoyed your horoscopes and would like to know what it costs to order an in-depth astro file. Didn't know if that was the hard-bound version for 51.00? Please contact me with prices and choices. Hello again everybody. Its been about a year and a half since I've posted or read anything in the feedback site its good to see that it is still alive and kicking.

I'm writing regarding a transit that is currently effecting my Natal Horoscope (Saturn opposition Neptune). This is what Robert Hand at Astrodienst says about the transit:

Saturn opposition Neptune: Disorientation

5 December 2002 until 30 December 2002: This is a time of extreme inner conflict, which can severely undermine your effectiveness with others. You will become extremely self- critical and uncertain about the ideals by which you structure your life, as well as about the structure itself.

You make very great demands upon yourself, and you feel you must live up to them. But they are very far removed from what you should realistically expect. You will almost certainly fail to live up to these ideals, so you will be acutely disappointed in yourself. Your self-condemnation is unjustified but very convincing at this time.

Guilt, remorse for alleged past sins, feelings of unfulfilled responsibilities, depression and self doubt are all characteristic of this time. But you must remember that everything seems worse than it really is. Sometimes you have an irrational sense of fear or apprehension, when your world seems to be populated by ghosts that haunt you. Illusion is indistinguishable from reality. Clearly this can be one of the most difficult of all influences.

Actually your ideas about the world are being changed, and the first step is a process of disintegration that leaves you feeling extremely disoriented.

If you can, it would be a good idea to go into some kind of retreat or at least try to minimize the demands of the everyday world for awhile. And as you simplify your life in this way, concentrate on the very concrete aspects of reality. Don't involve yourself in abstractions, for you can become lost in them. Deal with everything on a very mundane, practical level, until your sense of equilibrium begins to return. This is not a particularly good time to study the occult or psychic disciplines unless past study has given you a strong sense of proportion in these matters.

As you can see, its not a positive aspect, though like all I'm sure there is room for growth through it.

The actual aspect itself has been affecting my chart since August of this year, (when it was first exact), and will continue to do so until next May. I'm assuming the reason its listed again is because it will be in exact opposition again in December.

The reason I'm writing about this is because of how strongly it has been affecting my life. I don't normally feel the transits this strongly, and this one has been especially hard to deal with. I know it manifests itself differently for every person but have any of you experienced (or are experiencing) this transit recently??? If so, please share some experiences, and maybe how you dealed/are dealing with how its effecting your life.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email to the response to me if you feel like doing so. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible. Thanks.

I am a regular user of your site, love it!

When you take a look at a given day's horoscope the bottom section has aspects like this:

Other transits occurring today:
Mars Sextile Jupiter , exact at 08:23
Moon Conjunction Uranus , exact at 06:16
Moon Opposition Sun , exact at 08:30
Moon Opposition Chiron , exact at 20:23
Moon in the 8th House, exact at 02:14
Moon Trine Jupiter , exact at 20:01
Moon Sextile Med.Coeli , exact at 21:56

I think a better format would be like the following, (notice how the order is chronological as well):

Other transits occurring today:
02:14 Moon in the 8th House
06:16 Moon Conjunction Uranus
08:23 Mars Sextile Jupiter
08:30 Moon Opposition Sun
20:01 Moon Trine Jupiter
20:23 Moon Opposition Chiron
21:56 Moon Sextile Med.Coeli

it's me again
I have another my ascendant, neptune comes in..(maybe you don't need to see my chart)---this is actually more, on how I feel about it....but still, it's like it makes me seem/feel like a emotions/essence-whatever, aren't mine, but other's (almost like observing how they'll react with first impressions and then adapting) maybe on the superficial even intuitive level, and I'm afraid to 'realize' and confront myself...cause, um, what if my feelings are 'dull', or it's like 'being a mirror' really does 'spice things up'---and, because there are other aspects that really do confront when feeling 'myself' or my feelings, but I end up quite mental and I rationalize to a point into thinking, 'I have control over my feelings', ext ext ext...cause I really can turn out quite abstract (ever since my existencial crisis happened and made me see things differently)--well anyways, these are suppose to be short doubts, though I have a lot in my mind, and find it hard to summarize----I hope you write! Even the smallest comment will do :D thank you! once again: great and informative site!--------lot's of energies are in constant battle---how does that 'stop'?!
Long question: hope it makes sense
And, by having 'neptune' aspects...being so aware of my 'feelings, impulses,'---is it possible and do ppl end up 'repressing, manifesting' their energies---this site said so itself--they're just influences and not strickly attached---does that mean, that those that are aware (and maybe some ppl do it without knowing it) of these 'forces' and 'energies'--and maybe even observing their 'effects'--can actually control them--like partly, to have better control over one's life in general? thank you!!

I'm perplexed...about the time issue. UT I'm assuming this is universal time. I actually noticed it during the last full moon. The degree of the full moon was off when I checked my chart for that day, however, when I checked the transit positions for the next day (I am in USA/est)I realized that the next day had correct degree placements. Can't seem to shake the negativity/doubt etc. which has me in a crushing head-lock and makes me feel as though I have done something consequentially terrible for which I have to repent or goodness knows what. Is there a possibility of having been jinxed or cursed by myself or some other person? I am being made desperate by this ugly situation which has made me 'homeless' since February and seeems to be trying to grind my once full and 'driving' lifestyle to a bizzarre halt, although, as I said earlier, so many amazing things happen so often in my Life, especially on a consciously spiritual level, that I can but cautiously go on living from day to day trying to avoid another downswipe at my so put-upon, shocked, saddened soul.My birthday is 22-4-67, I was born in Edgware, London, England at 0630. If there is anyone who can help me atleast understand, even just a little, if it is possible to once again have a decent uplifting existence without having to suffer this seemingly inane difficulty which seems to be literally surreal and alien to a pattern of life which has never been easy but is slipping evermore out of my control and turning into one which I don't feel I deserve, and is preventing me from doing wonderful things with the mind which I have, please, would you, if you are able, help me. If there is anyone who has the power to make my Life even more perplexingly miserable and would take delight in being cruel enough to do so, I urge them to not even bother wasting their time and energy doing so because, even though things could get worse ,I imagine, I will not lose my joie de vivre, ever. Please abstain from sending me circular E'mails, chain-letters etc. as I have duly complied with various well-wishers' efforts in this field before but, have been unable to see their soi-disant benefits.

Hi, for some reason today I have been unable to access the normal info I have been able to access on a daily basis. Some time ago I entered info on my birth date time place etc and thus should be on your registered user list.

When I went in to confirm I was a registered user it tells me I am not registered etc.

Grateful if you can check and confirm .

It is much wiser to create a registered profile at 'my astro' which you can access from anywhere at any time independent of a cookie. If you have not done that yet, do it now.

A registered profile has other advantages, too. For example, you can stored up to 100 natal data records, instead of only 4 in an anonymous profile.

This eclipse is truly killing me and my relationship. Him and I have been holding on tears since last Sunday because he 'feels we have the world' against us and is too much pressure for him. I frankly dont' understand what exactly he means by that, but I am destroy because he doesn't know if we should continue or not. He says if we continue,he has to leave friends and family behind and if we brake up, he is going to be miserable because he is deeply in love with me.

What's going on?? We have had a 1 1/2 yr. relationship, happy, and his strange behavior suddently started from 3 1/2 weeks ago trigger by God knows what... please some look at our charts and give me some insight. I truly love him and I dont' want us to brake up...

Is this Eclipse affecting us?????

Please someone read the charts below and help me... I dont' know who to turn to for help.

I really like your detailed reports and appreciate that they are free-- but I was curious about two aspects of mine-- bothe are exact within about an hour of each other, both are active from 11/21 through 11/24, yet they are very contradictory to each other. One is pretty negative and ominous, the other is very positive. How can I interpret these contradictory things and make sense of it, or is it that they are just two influences competing with each other?

Liebe Leute vom Astrodienst!

Thanks for the explanation of how a third enery is formed when doing the composite charts. I found that very informative. I belive we tend to forget how this energy forms a whole that interacts with the community and people in general. A more in depth understanding of a couple and the how the world views and interacts with them.
This takes away some of the confusion when doing a chart for two people.
Thanks you Liz Green for the article.

Hello guys,
I heard about your website on my way to work early this morning and Wow....very interesting.
As I am going thru a trying time with my relationship with my wife I thought I'd give it a go.
My wife's chart and relevant info it is almost exactly what she is currently experiencing.
I am however concerned that what ever the computer came up with for her future is scaring the censored out of me.
It speaks of a possible marriage break-up or job loss......very negative.
I am freaked as we've (kids and all) just immigrated and only been living in our adoptive country for a year.
What can I do to alter any of the predictions it possible??

I'll supply more info if you respond.

Thanking you in advance.

Alois adds: I am not sure, but probably you refer to the interpretation of Saturn conjunct Venus in your wife's chart.

I do not agree with your qualification of that reading as 'very negative'. I doubt that you have read it carefully - instead you apprently chose to 'freak out'. If you always do that in front of a challenge, you might have a problem.

Below is what Robert Hand has to say on this transit. Certainly this is a serious transit in your wife's chart. A strong relationship will come out of it strengthened.

Please remember that the text is written for the person who has this transit happening to her, not for the partner of that person. What you have done is a bit like reading another person's diary or mail. It is technically possible - nothing prevents you from entering another person's data into our system - but this kind of information gathering always comes with a price.

Saturn conjunction Venus: Harsh realizations

28 January 2003 until 19 March 2003: This influence will have a strong effect on your relationships with others. Relationships that are solidly based will go through a period of testing and examination during which you and your loved ones and friends will become increasingly concerned about what is valid between you. A weak and unstable relationship will go through the same process, but you are more likely to conclude that it is not worth preserving. Consequently, at this time the relationships that have no purpose or that have outlived their purpose in your life will be cut off. Often you will be reluctant to let go of them.

Even in the best of circumstances you are likely to withdraw from others. During this time you have to evaluate who you are, what your individuality consists of and how all of these fit into your relationships with other people, particularly loved ones. You may come to some harsh realizations about your relationships, and even those that you thought were quite good may have to be given up. But you can be sure that any relationship that comes through this period in good shape is very real and important to you.

New relationships with a strongly "fated" quality may also come into your life now, which will have very profound significance for you in about fourteen years.

This is definitely a time to be conservative in financial matters and not take on any new financial obligations, for you may have trouble meeting your existing ones. On the other hand, this is an excellent time for firming up and organizing the financial structure of your life.

In general you should look upon this transit as a time for withdrawing into yourself with respect to others and to material possessions. This withdrawal will enable you to get a clearer idea of what and who you are, so that your future relationships with people and possessions will be more solidly based on reality and therefore more reliable and useful.

Love this site! I'll send it to as many people as I can! Thank you!

One of the first things I do when teachign new students is to show them how to navigate the site. It is so empowering for students to be able to get started right away downloading charts for themselves without having to fork out for expensive software. Great stuff! My question is with regard to mid-point trees. As far as I can tell, you don't currently offer them. Have you any plans to add these to the many other great services?

In reply to Stella's question 'Can the ascendant be in the 12th house?' the answer is yes, it is always in either the 1st or the 12th house. Whatever house system you are using the ascendant and midheaven degrees will always be the same. You are using the Equal House system which makes all the houses equal in length, but by doing so almost disregards the latitude for which the chart is set up. That house system can work well, though experienced astrologers will say it does not have the astronomical validity of others. However, many years ago that is the one I began with. I mention this as with other systems (while always having the same ASC/MC) you will have distortions - i.e. huge houses, and very small ones and in some cases intercepted ones. Hope this helps you.

It would help a lot if Astro would include the houses and signs that aspects and transits are occurring in. ie: Full moons. Also, in the information index about houses, it doesn't tell you which planet rules the houses neither does it tell you what house is associated with each planet in the planet index. Of course, I could pull out a book to find out, but I think it would be nice if you included this!

Kellie [* ]
Cincinnati, United States --- Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 14:54 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: I am afraid I do not agree at all. Only astrologers are interested in such technical detail, and our website provides enough options in 'extended chart selection' to give all the information you need - without digging out a book.

The large majority of the readers of the daily horoscope or the short report forecats are NOT astrologers. They would find technical deatils about signs, rulers and houses very confusing.

It is a frequent misconception to believe that is for astrologers. Its target is the general public, to offer serious astrology content.

by the way, what you wrote a week ago about quaoar and the next full moon, was it serious? Is the IAU going to vote for it tomorrow?

roos van velden
, nederland --- Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 13:35 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: On every full moon there is a new MPC circular released (MPC = Minor Planet Center) with a list of newly named and/or numbered asteroids. Whether 2002 LM60 will be numbered and named, only the gods of creation know so far.

Hi! I'm very interested in the group of asteroids between mars and jupiter and I'm trying to find a meaning for them as a group. As the first known asteroids were called after female gods and there is a lot about fertility and mothership, maybe they can be placed under the sign of cancer? My question is: do you have any experience with those asteroids? Do you think they can be seen as a group? After all, they were ment to become a planet.

roos van velden
, nederland --- Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 13:14 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: As a "group", the mass distribution of the 50'000 numbered asteroids - nearly all of them in this asteroid belt you mention - is totally smeared out over the ecliptic circle. I don't see what the point would be to assign a meaning, as they cannot be located as a group, only as individuals. From a scientific viewpoint, one should be aware that the total mass of all asteroids except Ceres is only twice the mass of Ceres - considering only the traditional asteroid belt, not TNOs.

I am trying to get the right chart for my friend who is born in Lakeland, FL, USA september 13 1950 at 20.03. Your service say there is a 5 hour difference from GMT but most astrologers here, and programs, say there is a 4 hour difference. Obviously this is of great concern. Any comments or ideas of where I could get more on line free info.

Alois adds: This town in Florida had no Daylight saving time in 1950. Our database of timezones and DST is very precise and knowledgable. Please understand that truth in data is not a matter of majority votes.

The Adobe print file you generate is 8.26 inches by 11.69 inches, which sounds like standard European A4 paper size, rather than the US 8.5 X 11.0 inches size. Therefore, the Adobe file, for which I paid, prints with more than 0.5 inch of content cut off, and this would happen for everyone with US-dimensioned paper. What are your plans to correct this?

I really wanted some serious matters addressed
as to Saturn being in my 2nd house.

I don't blame you guys, i am thankful
that you provide this service to those of us
who seek the knowledge - but
it pained me deeply to learn that
despite my high aspirations
and inclinations toward the finer things in life
that i won't have it that way.

I've lived in poverty my whole life.
My parents don't mind it, but i wanted
different. Even my natural tastes
are tuned to being wealthy,
but not out of frivilous reasons.

I like cars, and I could see myself
owning an 80,000 car but NEVER a 300,000 car.

I know how to spend money very well.

If i'm going to be poor my whole life,
or endlessly struggling to make ends
meet - i see no reason to continue on .

help me understand.

Alois adds: We do not provide personal consultation by email or guestbook. Please do not try to get it.

The free online chart readings have to be read precisely. You seem not to have done that - you fixed yourself one a single sentence out of the whole context.

In Astroclick Portrait, the text by Robert Hand about Saturn in House 2 reads like this - as usual Robert Hand expresses the relevant points in excellent writing:

You are quite cautious about spending money or any other resources, because you are afraid that there won't be enough. So you conserve and save wherever possible, in order to prevent an unexpected shortage of money or other resources. In some cases you may not have enough money, but it is more likely that you are motivated by fear of not having enough. On the positive side, this makes you a thrifty and careful planner in using money. But it can also make you overly cautious, so that you hold on to your money too tightly. And this kind of fear may set up vibrations in your world that attract situations in which you are actually deprived of money or possessions against your will.

You will work hard to get what you want, because for you that is a basic part of the value of anything. You do not respect or value anything that comes into your life too easily, so you work for it. You may envy people who seem to get what they want more easily than you do, but if you think about it, you will realize that you prefer it this way.

As an adult, you will have to watch out for a tendency to get so wrapped up in financial and property matters that they take over your life. Think of money and property as means to an end, not as ends in themselves.

I agree that the 'alternative interpretation' by Pelletier sounds worse - he is a less gifted writer with a rather literal style. I often wonder whether we should throw off the Pelletier material from our website, because I cannot really underwrite a lot of what he says. Pelletier is not always as bad to read as in the case of Saturn, though.

Pelletier's comment in Saturn in 2nd house reads like this:

Saturn is found in the 2nd house at the time of your birth. This is not a very favorable astrological circumstance for the general course of financial matters in your life.

It might be difficult to maintain a relatively fair position because of financial losses. You might also take financial matters too serious, and burden yourself with worries about them.

Your arduous and dedicated work might produce less for you than it would for someone else normally. However, do not be discouraged. Saturn often grants a fairly normal financial status at an older age if one exerts himself in this direction.

If you make an effort to acquire greater enthusiasm in business, coupled with more liberality, life will change by the same degree. [I have changed a few words to make him sound less harsh].

It is important for you and for all readers to understand: There is never a 'single and absolute truth' in any astrologial reading. Astrologers have their own more or less limited world view, and are more or less gifted to express themselves. In the best case, their writing can be inspiring. Just don't let yourself be put down by anything - even when it comes from our website. We name the authors whose readings we publish - and we do not agree with every single word they have said or written.

Thanks to all of you at for making real astrology available to us all.

For Victoria,

Maybe it's an idea to write down all important things that happen to you, with date, time and location. Then, with those information, you go to a good astrologer. Maybe he can see some kind of patron in it and find some aspect-lines. That might help to correct your birthdate and time. I hope this will help you.

Alois adds: If you simply send him a link to the chart, he will have access to all the data in your account. There are two easy ways to share the chart or reading, but to keep your other data secure:

a) in 'my astro', make sure you have a 'registered profile'. use View/Edit profile and activate the 'high security' option in your profile settings. Now, call up the chart or reading you want to share, and use your browser's file menu to send a link to this page to your friend. Our 'secure option' is constructed such a way that the recipient of this link will be able to view the same page without login, but he is not able to see any other data in your profile.

b) Alternatively, save the chart image as a GIF file on your local disk, using RIGHT mouse click, save image as ...
Give the image file a convenient name like 'friend_chart.gif' and send it as a normal email attachment. If it concerns a textual reading, copy/paste the text into an email message. This lets you mail the content without giving your profile access away.

Alois adds: I am afraid this is impossible without access to your real birth record, with all the consequences this would have for you by learning about your biological birth.

I just want to tell you that I think you have a great site and offer even better service to the world. I use it often and have referred others that. I can't understand why anyone would be satisfied getting a canned sun-sign daily horoscope e-mailed (with annoying banner ads) when this is at their fingertips. Its the next best thing to investing in software.

Also I recommend beginning students compare writen daily horoscope with the free charts to get practice reading charts - and there is no substitute for a good teacher and discussion group, found locally around the globe. That is how I found in the first place and have made much personal progress since. Long term transits are especially helpful for dealing with heavy transits (ie: Pluto conj. Sun, Neptune square Neptune both transits that require careful attention to subconsious urges, circumstance, etc.). I have survived this very well, thanks to your site and help from my friends.

I wonder what criteria you use to select the computer selected transit or aspect that opens the personal daily horoscope. It doesn't always seem to be the most predominate aspect. Please post your answer. Others will probably benefit. There seems to be some questions to that regard running through the more critcal feedback I've read. Though may be that we just don't always like what our horrorscope has to say on a daily basis...hummmm.

Yashir Koach (Keep up the good work - it is a real blessing)

Philly, USA --- Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 01:04 Universal Time (UT/GMT)

Alois adds: Thanky for the kind feedback. Regarding your question: Imagine you have a serious transit, e.g. Saturn on the Aszendant. If on each day the most important transit would be posted, you would get the SAME reading for a large number of days.

It would be like a daily newpaper having the same frontpage headline each day for two months. How boring!

Our system tries to select a different transit every day, and to minimize repetition. It follows, that also issues of lower importance make it to the frontpage headline. This is why the 'long term influences' are listed.

Originally, the 'Personal Daily Horoscope' was created by Asrodienst not for online use, but in the form of the printed 'Personal Horoscope Calendar'. The Calendar covers 365 days and contains a half-page colum for each day with the reading of the day and the listing of other transits, plus an index to find on which date the reading for these other transits can be found.

We sell this calendar still very successfully, actually sales have increased since we publish the free daily horoscope online. The spiral-bound Horoscope Calendar is very convenient to use, and an excellent gift!

For James Newnan
You didn't leave your mailing address so I am writing to you thru a Feedback. The co-sign in Leo/Virgo determines also the way you look-your physical aspect, so any good astrologer can resolve your problem just by looking at you.

I enjoy astrodienst very much. I've learned how accurate the time of birth needs to be, but this can present a problem. I'm thinking of DAYLIGHT SAVINGS. In parts of Australia we have it, but it has not always been like this. In NSW it existed in 1943 but was not introduced again until 1971. As the exact time of birth is required, the factor of daylight saving is therefore important, unless of course, astrodienst has already taken this into account?

A specialist's need in astrological computation will often be better served by purchasing a software package like Solar Fire or Kepler. The services of are targeted at at a wider audience with a 'mainstream' interest in astrology, and at our high quality reports.

A lot of what you look for you will find in the extended chart selection in the free horoscopes area, and other things you will find easily if you learn how to read an ephemeris. I hope that serves you well enough.

I'm probably asking the obvious, but, using the Astrodienst free charts, when you ask for a progressed chart - what actual time on that (progressed) day is it for? I am trying to accurately pinpoint moon position to rectify my chart. Thanks.

Alois adds: Please suggest to your husband to get local counselling. This guestbook is not for personal free advice.

If your husband seeks general advice about an optimum career, I can very much recommend the report 'Career and Vocation' by Liz Greene. But it will not answer the concrete question about juming ship - yes or no. Formore information, please see the AstroShop area. You will also find links to complete sample reports there.

I am also not sure whether you can do the necessary things in your husband's place; I think he must himself do them.

I am expressing my appreciation for your website and the resources that are available here. I have been studying astrology for some time but I have not been able to effectively check the accuracy of some of my theories because of not having the right information to do it with. Finding ephemeris material for the amount of time that you have in your tables is difficult to find and having it helps me in doing my research. Astrology is primarily a hobby for me but it is a fascinating one.

Alois adds: Please use 'my astro'.

I ordered last march a personal transit analysis for a year or so. The problem is it was a verbatim copy of the Robert Hand book Planets in Transit. I already had the book and so it did not shed any new light on anything. That is first of all. second, the interpretation of transits are important in light of the natal chart and the relationships of planets therein. so when I ordered the transit information I thought I would get something personal and not something totally general. For example a transit of pluton in a 120° angle on the natal sun is has a very differnet influence and energy for someone who has a natal pluto/sun relationship which is 90° or if it is in my case for example 120° I feel that the money I spent was really for nothing and I feel cheated. I feel a real astrological interpretation of energies available must be personalized or it is unprofessional.

Sincerely Nikita

Alois adds: You are correct: the transit descriptions in the report 'Transits of the year' are nearly identical to those in the book 'Planets in Transit'. In fact, Robert Hand wrote those descriptions for usage in our computerized reports, and the publication of the same material as a book was an afterthought.

Astrodienst does not hide this fact in any way. The description of 'Transits of the Year' contains a link 'read a sample report', where you can read a complete sample. If you are familiar with Hand's book, you will immediately notice the overlap in content. The appendix of the report - and the sample report - states:
Further reading: "Planets in Transit", by Robert Hand. This book provided the text basis for "Transits of the Year".

Astrologers, who know how to compute the timing of the various transits, and who know which transits are more and which are less important, can use the book and do not need to order an individual report.

Other people, who would never look into a specialist astrology textbook, or who do not know what a transit is and how to determine its occurence and timing, or those who do not know how to separate the important transits from the less important ones, will profit greatly from ordering the personalized report. Its special strength is the selection of relevant themes. In the selection process, a lot of particular information about a person's chart is considered, to help decide whether a particular transit should be presented or not, and with which priority.

Astrodienst has certainly not been trying to cheat you. You seem however not to have studied the easily available information about our report before ordering it. I do not accept that this should be our fault. If you are an expert in astrological interpretation yourself, you might prefer not to order computerized reports ever. You might be disappointed again, as you will either find them trivial, or different from your own strong opinions, or otherwise produced in a way which you consider false. If you are a first class cook, you have to be careful with 'eating out', as you might get disappointed.

About the question whether the services of Astrodienst are 'professional' or not, I do not think that we need to start a discussion. Everyone is welcome to have his/her own opinion. We are happy that probably 99% of our website visitors and customers consider us professional. A 100% yes vote from a large population is a rare thing, it only happens in Iraq.

Thank you so very much for providing so much here for free. This site is awesome! I will definately buy something from you soon, because I appreciate all that you've provided for us, and want to show my support! I'm so impressed with what you have done here! Thanks Alois for your previous answer.

I have 3 other questions in mind.

1 - Do you use the nodes and lilith in the psychological analysis, child analysis and career analysis from Liz Greene?

2 - Now I can find the meaning of nodes transits in books. Do you intend one day to make them appear in the personal daily horoscope section?

3 - I am using a lot the personal chart with transits. Would be so useful to get the aspects between the transiting planets and the planets of the personal chart, like in synastry. We can consider indeed that transits impact a chart like in a synastry.

Well, question 3 is not a question, it is only a wish.

Thanks a lot for your great and useful web site and work!

I'm in an amateur club of astrology, we are just starting to learn about the subject, and a discussion has come up about sidereal astrology.. I would want to know what you think about this topic, 'cause I don't know if I should ignore tropical astrology and just consider sidereal or if they can be analyzed together for different purposes.... Any insights you may have will be greatly appreciated... if directed to my email account even better. Thanks
(I'm a capricorn with a geminis rising and also moon in geminis, just so you'd know :-) and I don't like the idea of being a sagittarius with a moon and taurus rising under sidereal astrology)
Websites or book references would be excellent.

Alois adds: There seems to be a misunderstanding. Each visitor to the website sees his/her own data, i.e. those contained in the profile which this user has entered. On some unprotected computers like Windows 98 it is possible that another person has used your computer, visited and entered data, and now you see those when you visit.

Presumable that user of your computer entered YOUR data, with a slightly off birth time and a different name.

The data are ONLY visible on YOUR personal computer, nobody else in the world sees them. There is no magic yet involved.

Just a simple question. Do you take into account the winter/summer time in european countries for chart calculation?

Thanks a lot!

we in india use astrology even for sneezing!! so a bit of changes will help indians - and perhaps many others in other countries - use your site in a better way.

1. provide for entering GMT time
2. provide for entering the actual location of one's birthplace ( mine is 9n23, 76e36, a village called Kaviyoor in Kerala State, Southern India)
3. instead of 'city' put ' place of birth')

if you can modify as above, users will get more precise forecast

During the last 5 months of this year i have been intensely interested in astrology and have genuinely loved the proper fusion of analytical psychology and astrology.

I have read 3 books by Liz Greene and am very impressed with her grasp of the significance of psychology to astrology. I even had my horoscope done by her organisation which I was moderately impressed. The question that i have involves other information that I found in my continuing search for meaning that relates directly to astrology.

I recently got a copy of Alice Bailey's Esoteric Astrology and if a person is confused enough about the meanings of the planets, signs, and houses in Liz Greenes interpretations, then attempting to understand Alice Bailey's book will send a person to the mad house.

My main question is what aspects of Alice Bailey's work does Liz Greene utilize and what opinions that Liz has about this new astrology. I find this new astrology to be very confusing.

I thought that i was really beginning to get a firm grasp on understanding astrology.....until i began reading this book. Bailey's philosophy is very much influenced by Indian philosophy and I just want to know what Liz thinks about Bailey's work?

I would appreciate any help on this subject.

Nick Hillman [* ]

Alois adds: I asked Liz Greene for a comment on your questions, and this is what she replied:

Alice Bailey's work is not new. She was part of the early British Theosophical movement and her work needs to be seen in the social and historical context of early 20th century Britain. I do not find much useful in "Esoteric Astrology", and I have never been especially impressed with Bailey's rather smug tone of spiritual superiority and thinly disguised bigotry. But that was typical of the period.

The only part which I have ever found interesting in this book is the so-called "esoteric rulers" of the signs, which gives a different group of planetary rulers from the traditional ones. If these are seen, not as actual rulers, but as subtle dimensions of the signs, they are useful; e.g. Bailey gives Mercury as the "esoteric ruler" of Aries, and there is certainly a powerful intellectual dimension in Aries as well as the traditional fiery, impulsive, physical side of the sign. She also gives Venus as the "esoteric ruler" of Gemini, which reflects the strong aesthetic and artistic element in many Geminis. And so on.

Trying to fully comprehend this volume requires more than a degree in rocket science. But like anything else in life, it's worth trying, to see what might be relevant or useful to the individual reader. You never know.

I am most impressed with this site, after reading my personal portrait! The information was both accurate, and informative. What a refreshing change! Unfortunately I am going to be expecting bad news soon, which I'd preferred not to have read. Ah well, such is life!

Alois adds: With 10 million usages of our personal daily horocope per month it is bound to happen that an occasional feedback like yours comes in. NOBODY can get perfect acceptance by such a large number of individuals.

Our personal daily horoscope is based on the transits of the actual planets over the positions marked by planets in your birth chart. This is valid astrology - and the author of our readings, Robert Hand, is recognized throughout the last three decades as the most profound writer on this subject.

Whether you personally accept astrology as a valid source of information, and find that Robert Hand's writings apply to your own life, is up to you to decide. You must make your own choices.

I really like your webside and use it a lot. But one thing i find annoying: Why can´t I delete old data? There are some people that I don´t want in my computer any more. Have you got that kind of service?
