New in Astro-Databank: Captain Schettino
« on: 11.02.2012 at 09:23 [UT] »

Thanks to Grazia Bordoni, Milano, we have access to the chart of Captain
Francesco Schettino,  born 14 November 1960 at 15:55 (= 3:55 PM ) in Napoli, Italy

He is the man responsible for the sinking of the Cost Concordia on 13 January 2012.

What does his chart say about his way of dealing with a crisis?

Deny everything. Explain nothing.

The transits will not bring what the natal chart does not promise......

Did the Captain make foolish mistakes? Yes.
Could he have handled the emergency better? Yes.

If there is a moral of this story, I suppose it must be, “don’t leave your lingerie in the captain’s cabin.”

Most people who are cheating on their spouses get busted in less dramatic circumstances, neh?

Not quite what we are led to believe by the "BC/BR in hand" for this entry.

Astro-Databank did not, does not, have BC/BR in hand, nor did their listed source. Had they even requested a copy at the time they posted the entry?

What was the rush to post this data with an untrue statement of verification? With the corrections that have had to be made to previous entries, and now this revelation, one could believe that the work of verification has become slipshod.

he has mars in cancer...i think cancer when a problem is aroused, wait from the other to act.if there is no other to solve any ...then they take charge..(bad english  Roll Eyes)

""Mars in Cancer
This position inclines toward passive-aggressiveness. These people seem to resist change and to shy away from direct confrontations. They need to feel secure before they act. As a result, they can appear rather slow at times. Their motto is "The best offence is defense". They may appear weak to some, but they can be very strong. Their strength lies in their tenaciousness.

Their sex drive can be very tied up with emotional need. At their best, they turn others on with a protective, almost therapeutic way about them. The protective nature of Cancer is best expressed when Mars in Cancer natives are turning the energy outward — when they are being the protectors of others. Turning it inwards is when there are problems. They must avoid over-sensitivity and self-protection when it comes to sex. Some Mars in Cancer people are especially turned on by the thought of creating a baby.

These people are threatened by indifference. They can be argumentative and manipulative. Their energy levels are variable, and they can appear to move rather slowly. They have defensive reactions and bursts of emotional displays when they feel cornered.

With reassurance and confidence, these natives are protective, helpful, and dependable in the long haul. They prefer to handle situations peacefully and humanely. "' Huh

""mars gives a very high fighting spirit which helps in coming out of difficult situations, dealing with the stress."'
mars in third make him a traveler..close to fourth...cancer natural..it was natural from him to be a captain...i suppose
i think mars  and it aspects....

mars trine retrogate mercury ,slow motion (seventh house cooperation) conjunct neptune_confuse thinking.... Roll Eyes

carelli degrees ,also interesting:

""6-7 deg Scorpio

Symbol: A treasure.

The symbol conveys its meaning clearly enough, but it may help to remark that this influence can work on different planes. It may refer to the native’s precious gifts as well as to something outward that destiny has in store for him as a surprise; in this latter sense the symbol may be taken literally or metaphorically. None of the foregoing interpretation bars other ones; as usual, things are to be looked at within the frame of the whole astrological picture.

Now for the details: Inner treasure may be taken to mean wealth of feelings, ideas or other forces of the mind. The element prevailing in the nativity will show the right sense if the houses and the aspects also are taken into account. A material treasure may be collected as a result of commercial dealings; or, whatever the success, the native’s lot may be to deal in jewels or rare objects. Otherwise he may be born to dig out mineral ore (gold, silver, etc.), archaeological remains, or to perform fruitful research journeys. In some cases the native may be singled out by destiny to be, spiritually or technically, the leader of an entire people.

Apart from all this, we may add that the native is a tireless worker and that he is liable to show some childish features even in adult age; at the same time there is something royal about him, and his fortune holds something unexpected —and illogical —in store for him. Whether these are all to be pleasant surprises must be left to the pointers of luck in the chart to decide.

This much can be said with assurance: the native has some karmic mysteries in his path, before which the average mind will feel thoroughly puzzled.""

The email from Bordoni I have received said: data from birthcertificate. It did not specify further. I had assumed that Crisci, Bordoni's source, had it in hand.

The email did not expressedly say 'in hand'. I have corrected the ADB entry accordingly. Rodden rating remains AA, though.

Obviously, the sinking of the Cost Concordia was one, if not the, most depressing incidents to ever happen in the life of Captain Francesco Schettino. Note secondary progressed Saturn has progressed to 20,02 Cap, 4 minutes from an exact conjunction with his Natal MC. Secondary Progressed, outer planet, partile conjunctions to a Natal Angle are rare for a life time, and IMO, this is indicative this birth time is correct. This is a once in a life time event, and SP Saturn only 4 minutes orb from exact conjunction the Captain’s MC  is par-excellent symbolism for depression pertaining to one’s career with lifetime objectives & goals.

p. Saturn is slow slow slow so he has stayed there for years. from @ 1993 - 2020.
What happened to him in 1993-1994 ?  Uranus Neptune is at same spot (cnj Mc. )

If time is right. he has P.ASc opp Jupiter. !!

He do have p. Mercury. P. Sun and P. jupiter conjuct his natal Saturn.
t. Neptune is conjuct his. P. Venus. and at the day 13 jan. his Venus added her power or love to same spot. In SemiSquare semisextile to Saturn. ! beside the semisquare it doesn't hit his Chart otherwise.

With all this to Saturn. would it trigger massive fear, irrational and all. adding Neptune Venus; would the anixeity and fear from the people at the ship, invade his emotional mind, and make his saturn control weak ?

Yes, the Captain’s secondary progressed Saturn is very slow, moves only 3 degrees and 9 minutes from ‘1993-2020.’ However, his sec. prog. Saturn was only 4 minutes of arc from an exact conjunction to his Natal MC. Our angles, in most cases, are what individualize life events with planetary symbolism.

Mikalek asked:
Quote:

I don’t know. But Uranus or Neptune are not par-excellent symbolism for a depressed situation, Saturn is par-excellent symbolism for a depressed situation and again was only 4 minutes of arc from exact conjunction with his Natal MC.

Possibly. But what I want to pay attention to are partile aspects very close to the angles of a map with appropriate malific planetary symbolism, since this was a malific event. Below is the Captain’s Secondary Progressed Chart. Note the partile conjunction of his p. North Node with his p. Pluto within 3 degrees of his p. IC. This aspect also is very slow and dormant for many months or years, but according to Ebertin in COSI a very appropriate aspect with its symbolism where Ebertin states:

Quote:
Principle: The common destiny of a large mass of people.
Probable Manifestation: (-) A common and tragic destiny shared with other persons.
Psychological Correspondence: (-) The state of feeling one’s association with other people as a burden, the feeling of being cramped in one’s style through the influence of others, with SUBSEQUENT SUFFERING from this.

Also p. Mars is within 3 degrees ecliptically conjunct the p. Asc. Further astronomical investigations reveal p. Mars is mundanely 40 minutes from an exact conjunction with p. Asc. Also note t. Pluto is partile 180 p Mars, and it would appear t. Mercury being partile conjunct t. Pluto partile 180 p. Mars triggered this event, but there are probably other triggers. Also, angular p. Mars is tight sextile angular p. Pluto. Lots of angular Mars-Pluto symbolism here with the Captain’s progressed chart! Also, a rising Moon-Mars conjunction was taking place when the Ship ran aground.

re. [quote author=SteveS link=1328952194/0#9 date=1330015350]
t. Plu is 07:46 cap p.Mars is 6:38 cancer is that partile? I would belive the orb should be less than 1º to be partile. specially as Pluto is seperating from Mars.
Same with p. Pluto p.nodes 7:58 and 7:21, while they are partile.
Ok It might be a minor importance this 'partile' aspects, just i had the notion that partile did mean exact to almost the minute, I mean 1º orb is the normal use of orbs in direction work. So it is not more partile than anything else.

Still in my book/ world p. saturn is not usable.

and the P. ASc opposes Jupiter, which you didn't mention (which certainly is not a malefic by any standard). But it do apply to the situation here as Jupiter is old Lord of pisces, the Sea. and could be telling about his slander and ignorance and taking chances.

I didn't intent to imply anything re. a depressing situation in 1993 just that Ura and Nep is at the same position on his mc.

The 3 years of p.ASc to Mars will first manifest in 3 years. the P.Node and p.Pluto to P. IC has happened 3 years ago.  -IF chart is right.  Btw Using P. Pluto is absurd as he hardly moves in a life time. a thing through is that his P. Pluto has gone retrograde so now it is Partile (as in Exactly ) at the same position as birth namely 7:58 Vir.

Still I believe that progressive Mercury, Sun and Jupiter on his N. Saturn is strong enough to indicate this event without any need for Axis activity.
Through we have p. ASc opp Jupiter here.
