End of March 2012 until end of January 2014: This is a time in your life when the old categories of living and experience cease to have any real meaning for you. Your consciousness will be heightened, although your initial feeling is likely to be one of confusion. But you will be able to learn the lessons of this period only if you are willing to be patient and allow the universe to reveal what it has to show you.

The general effect will be a blurring of categories, an ability to see relationships among things that you were never aware of before. You will have a better understanding of the inherent unity of all existence, which will be reflected in a greater empathy between you and others, an ability to put yourself in another person's place. You will learn many things, even after a full life of learning everything that you thought you could. And you will be in a position to teach others as well.

But these developments will come about only if you are willing to let go of old ideas. Otherwise this will be a time of confusion and defeat, when you feel that you must withdraw into yourself. This inner drive to withdraw is likely to be manifested as a need for some sort of hospitalization. Or you may choose to withdraw as a sign of completion rather than defeat, in which case this influence signifies that you will begin to find peace and respite. At your age, this influence should not hold the horrors that it sometimes holds for younger people, unless you have become fearfully rigid.

Saturn opposition Mercury: Rigidity spells defeat

Beginning of December 2012 until mid-September 2013: At this time your ideas and plans may be defeated, or they may have their greatest concrete realization. In either case, you will run into considerable resistance from others to what you say. This may result in severing relationships with those who disagree with you because there is no longer any communication between you. Or it may result simply in the breakdown of communication that was once quite good.

Other people's resistance to your thinking is not intended solely to defeat you, although you may think so. You may be tempted to give up if you are not secure in your thinking and plans. But the resistance of others also forces you to give your plans clearer form and to take definite steps to implement them. This takes hard work and much heavy thinking, but the results can be quite good.

If your ideas cannot withstand the challenge or you do not have enough confidence to defend them, this is likely to be a time of self-doubt and questioning. You will seek to find out what is wrong with your ideas, and if you can be sufficiently detached, you may indeed find out what is wrong. But if you just wallow in guilt, doubt and "being wrong," you will accomplish little except to become depressed.

Although this is not an especially easy time, you shouldn't take a negative or pessimistic view of matters. There are concrete challenges to be met, and you should use your energy to recognize and meet them. Negative thinking is a form of self-indulgence that you cannot afford at this time.

One factor of this influence may be causing you problems. If you have already allowed your thinking to become too rigid and fixed, you will find it difficult to make occasional necessary compromises when you are challenged. Even with the best ideas, a certain amount of mental flexibility is necessary. Rigidity is almost certain to spell defeat, because the forces that oppose you will become equally unbending and rigid.

Uranus trine MC: Changing tracks

Mid-April 2013 until mid-March 2014: This influence represents a period in your life when you can make creative changes in your life. Sudden opportunities may come about that enable you to move in radically new and different directions. Often this influence signifies a change to another field of interest such as science or technology, including electronics, computers and engineering. This influence can also signify an interest in the occult, especially astrology.

But this period has a larger significance. At this time you are able to change your life direction and do something that more truly expresses your individuality. The problem for most people is that this new field may be quite different from what you were taught was a "proper" interest. Most people's focus in this regard is too narrow. It is very important now to let yourself explore any field of endeavor that attracts you, regardless of how well it fits your preconceptions of a career.

The only restriction is that your new direction should be ethical and legal, simply because this influence can create serious problems with the law if you are not careful about legality.

This is also a time in your life when you will be innovative in whatever you do. Your thinking is fresh and original, and you do not try to solve new problems with old solutions, either in your public or in your personal life. This learning will be on whatever level you are ready for, perhaps simply learning to be more tolerant and open to new ideas or even encountering deep spiritual and religious truths through this relationship. Certainly you are ready for a greater spiritual understanding of the world now. You need to experience more than the superficial banality of life that many people become mired in. Events now, such as meetings with persons or even changes in your psyche, open the way for you to become wiser and more mature and to have a broader understanding of the world. At this time you will reach out consciously and unconsciously and ask more of the world, but at the same time you are willing to give more to the world.

This influence can make you feel either more demanding or more giving toward others, but you are not likely to get much out of it if you think only of what you can get. The law of conservation of energy in the universe says that you can transform the energies in your life from one form to another, but you cannot create them out of nothing. Remember that each person has opportunities for a different kind of power. It may be great or relatively humble in terms of the larger society, but it will be meaningful to you.

This power drive is sufficiently strong that it is difficult to deny, even if it has absolutely no outlet. In that case you are likely to get into some kind of conflict with authorities, even to the extent of arrest.
