Pluto square Sun: Power struggles

Beginning of March 2012 until end of October 2014: This time is a test of your strength and the energy with which you have established yourself in your world. The test may take many forms, but in any form it will require that your sense of personhood be in reasonably good shape; in other words, you should know who and what you are. If you do not really know yourself, this time is likely to bring about crises that will cause major changes in your life.

One form that it may take is a test of your self-control as you try to get ahead in the world. This influence stimulates your ambition and desire for power out of all proportion. If there is a ruthless side to your personality that will do anything to destroy opposition, it will come out now. But, at the same time, forces in your world will try very hard to stop you. To overcome the forces arrayed against you, you will require extreme ruthlessness. On the other hand, you may know precisely what you need to succeed and go after just that, being willing to compromise and make your success also the success of others. This is the proper course to take, but unfortunately this kind of accommodating spirit is not often found.

If you are of a more retiring disposition, you may experience this time quite differently. Instead of being the person on a power trip, you may have to contend with someone else who is. Here again you must determine exactly your rights and needs as an individual and stand up for them. The problem here is not that you will overstep your bounds but that someone else will. But you must fight or at least resist. Either of these power struggles is most likely to occur in your profession, quite possibly with someone in authority.

This energy may also surface in the outer expression of your life. You may be surrounded by conditions of breakdown and decay, which are an outward sign of the need to rebuild within. Under extreme conditions, this influence can release its energy in a single explosive burst as an injury or physical assault. Certainly you should avoid conflicts with others that may lead to physical fighting, because the energies here are quite dangerous.

Uranus opposition Sun: Security vs. freedom

Mid-April 2013 until mid-March 2014: During this time you should look for sudden changes in your environment that challenge your expression as an individual and force you to take a stand about what you really are. A sudden challenge in the outer world may force you to take more responsibility for your life. Typical effects of this influence would include sudden events concerning men or your superiors or employers; unexpected circumstances that force you to change your course of action; sudden changes in a relationship, especially if you have not allowed self-expression for yourself or your partner; and sudden changes in health, involving your heart and circulatory system especially.

By this time you have built up a lifestyle that you consider valid and practically realizable. Most adults by now have given up certain ideals and goals as impossible. You have probably surrendered large parts of yourself as an accommodation with reality. The suppressed energies from this source lie behind the manifestation of this influence. It demands that hidden pressures be released, but you will probably feel that these events are happening to you rather than that you are doing them. What is happening is the passing away of something that has prevented you from being free. The trouble is that most people come to value security and predictability over freedom of self-expression. Consequently this influence is frequently upsetting.

Jupiter square Pluto: In a tight spot

From 4 May 2013 until 13 May 2013: This influence can have the effect of arousing your ambition to achieve great things. You feel as if your energies could carry you higher and farther than usual, and you are willing to strive for power and success. But your efforts may run into considerable resistance from others, especially if you are not completely scrupulous about your methods. This time can bring you success and social standing, but it also can deprive you of these. Instead of gaining power, you may simply provoke conflict with those who are in power, sometimes quite innocently. You may have no intention of challenging anyone, yet you find yourself in a tight spot with the authorities.

Another manifestation of this energy is that you may become involved with a project to repair or rebuild something. It might be physical property, a neighborhood or a more abstract matter, such as reorganizing or reforming a government, business or other institution. Your aim is to improve, but here again you may encounter opposition from people who do not agree with your ideas or who feel threatened by your actions.

You must avoid becoming obsessed with any plan or course of action, and be particularly ready to reexamine your ideas of right or wrong in any matter. Stand up for what you believe is right, but first make sure that you are right. This influence sometimes can make you feel convinced of a point of view that is actually shaky. You should look at religious, philosophical or metaphysical views very closely. If you wish to lead others to enlightenment, first make very certain of the quality of your own.

In some cases this influence can lead to legal conflicts, and you should be very sure that any legal matter you are involved in is strictly legitimate. Avoid underworld or shady persons in any matter.

Jupiter conjunction IC: Your inward needs

From 1 July 2013 until 10 July 2013: This is a time for expansion and growth in your innermost personal life, a time when you will seek security at home and with your immediate family. It may be necessary to reexamine your past life to find out what it can teach you about yourself. But this should not be a source of anxiety. In fact, you should feel quite good about what you learn at this time. Your parents may be able to assist you considerably in this process.

The symbolism of this influence is that you incorporate more and more of the outer world into your innermost life. On the material level, you may buy a larger, more elegant or more spacious home. Certainly it would be a good expression of this symbolism to improve your existing home and make it more comfortable.

At this time you should do everything to ensure that your personal life is as comfortable and secure as possible. You need to have a feeling of inner peace and security in order to continue to move out in the world. In fact you should not think so much about outward success now as about the more personal and inward needs that we have discussed here. And you should realize that your real need now is not land or a larger home, but a feeling of strength and inner growth.

This is the time to tie up any loose ends in your personal life, straighten out any relationships that are not working well, any leftovers from your past life that are still affecting the present adversely. To do this you may have to speak to others very openly about yourself and your innermost thoughts.

So this is a good time to settle and put down roots. The feeling of belonging to a place and a group of people is very important to you now. You don't have to do this in a way that limits your freedom of movement, and during this time it is very unlikely that you will do so. But everyone needs a solid home base so that they can feel at peace in their other activities. If you don't make an effort to construct such a base now, you will have difficulty later when your principal concerns are turning elsewhere.

From 9 July 2013 until 18 July 2013: This is usually an excellent time for most kinds of relationships, but there are some pitfalls. Basically this influence signifies a desire to grow and advance through contacts with others. Probably you are willing to give as much as you get, although in some people this influence triggers a desire for advantages through others without giving anything in return. In fact as they get ahead, such people act arrogantly toward everyone, even those who helped them. This causes others to reject them, and when they hit hard times there is no one to help them out.

But this result is totally unnecessary, and all you have to do to avoid it is to keep a sense of humility and recognize what others have done for you. With this influence you have the potential to become a truly better person, but only if you keep these warnings in mind.

Quite frequently this influence brings a seemingly "lucky" chance through a friend or associate. But it is not luck so much as the fact that you are very sharply on the lookout for opportunities that can benefit you. Your sense of timing is very acute, and your sensitivity to others and their needs is greater than usual. That is one reason why it is so bad to ignore others' needs, because you don't even have the excuse of ignorance.

Benefits can come to you in either your personal and domestic life or in your work. Beginning of August 2013 until end of March 2014: This can be an excellent time, but you must watch out for some pitfalls that could undo all the benefits. Basically this influence is a test of your discipline and self-restraint. If you are not a restrained person, you will react to this influence by going overboard in some way, overextending yourself or living in a fool's paradise where you think nothing can go wrong. Or you might squander a valuable resource, only to find on another day that you do not have enough of what you need. Sometimes there is a feeling that luck will provide everything that you need without any effort on your part, but this, too, is a false notion.

But this time can also provide a chance for real growth and expanded opportunities. It is a matter of how much control you have over yourself. You have to know precisely where you are and what your real needs are in order to take the most advantage of this time. You also have to know when you can't handle anything more. Knowing when to stop is the real trick.
