Have you ever looked at someone’s horoscope and felt puzzled by the discrep- ancy between the planetary energy expressed in their personality and what was suggested by their charts? For instance, a person with a heavily Saturnian chart but who exhibits an unusually Jupiterian personality? Or someone with a confident-looking horoscope who acts relatively timid in person?
Time and again, one finds station points illuminating historic developments in ways that aren’t immediately obvious from examining ‘snapshot horoscopes’ drawn up for singular moments in time. As with the study of personal horoscopes, looking at an actual ephemeris page sometimes offers advantages over the computer-generated chart, since it can reveal at a glance whether an event falls within a planet’s stationary zone.

'Jupiter Meets Uranus' is a great introduction to how astrology works at the individual and social level. Readers without any knowledge of astrology may want to skip past a paragraph or two here and there, but Whitaker's style is engaging and her explanations are always clear. By taking a relatively small slice of the astrological pie and examining it in detail, she makes it possible for non-astrologers to understand how astrologers think.
What is it about Lilly? During the Civil War, he was a key figure consulted at the highest level by the King and Parliament, as well as by the radical sects. His astrological intelligence on the timing of critical battles helped win the war for Parliament. A true democrat, he was committed to making the science of the stars accessible to all, whatever their background. He helped everyone who came to him, even those who could not pay.
The astrology that you don’t know: Let’s explore that premise. The first case that comes to mind involved a client whose mother was experiencing Neptune’s direct transit over her Aquarian sun. I explained at length that this influence typically involved fraud, and warned her not to let her mother fall into the hands of an unscrupulous financial broker, one who might be playing fast and loose with other peoples’ money during this era of deregulation.
Dates hold significance in our lives because they demarcate personal occasions such as the birthdays of loved ones. Of greater magnitude are dates that impact vast groups of people. These include the inception dates (birth markers) of nations along with the specific days when wars began and ended. Events of magnitude like assassinations of beloved leaders, earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes are also remembered by their birthdays.
The linguist, George Lakoff is a strategy coach for the Democratic Party; and he’s famous for teaching the importance of cognitive frames. If we envision messages as food for thought, then cognitive frames deliver the vitamins. Most of the frames in use (and this extends beyond politics) are based on polarized pairs.
Astrologers understand something about our solar system’s design that astronomers do not. By studying the cosmic clockworks and coming to recognize the patterns these give rise to, star seers witness a Divine Order at work.
The following analyses show how the metaphorical T-cross composed of Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto will influence specific areas of your life, as represented by the astrological houses. Discover what you're apt to personally encounter by referring to the section applicable to your Rising Sign.
In May 2013, the developers of the Astrodienst sound chart have published the CD "Planetenmusik / music of the spheres". This carefully produced CD makes the movements of the planets around the Earth audible by employing different instrumentations.
Since the mid-1990s, the so-called “Vedic astrology” has experienced a remarkable boom in America and, with some delay, also in Europe. Indian Gurus and their western followers not only imported the Hindu sidereal Zodiac to the west, but also other techniques of Hindu astrology and even spiritual concepts of the Vedic culture. Excerpt from the third, extended edition of Dieter Koch's book: "Kritik der astrologischen Vernunft" (Critique of Astrological Reason).
India developed and carefully preserved an excellent system of astrology. In the 70s it gained popularity in America and eventually throughout the world as "Vedic Astrology," perhaps riding the coat-tails of a larger explosion of interest in Indian culture and spirituality ushered in by ISKCON (the "Hare Krishnas") and similar groups like TM ("Transcendental Meditation")...
Traditional methods for calculating horoscopes and drawing charts unfortunately do not suit all geographic regions equally well. Especially birth places near and beyond the polar circles are problematic, that is on latitudes near 66°34 north or south and beyond. Birth places on the southern hemisphere, too, are prone to confuse astrologers, as soon as there are questions regarding the concrete view of the sky.
In order to understand the origins of the different house systems and the problems connected with them, it is helpful to discuss a few terms of celestial mechanics which are important from an astrological perspective for the construction of the respective systems.
A horoscope is a snapshot of a single moment in our solar system as seen from a geocentrical point of view. Actually the luminaries and planets are not fixed but constantly rotating. These rotations can be translated into different swinging systems, amongst others into acoustically recognisable sounds.
A character in a novel who has a 'real' chart? Hard to imagine. Still, a character like Harry Potter whose story has been a bestseller for years, whose destiny is followed by many, is of interest to the astrologer.
Every month an invisible New Moon signals we can make a fresh start and, as the cycle progresses and the Moon waxes, we can learn, grow and invest. At the second half of the cycle, after the Full Moon, we may reap what we have sown, reflect on and eventually bring to a close that which was conceived at that beginning. In her excellent Moon Watching series Dana Gerhardt introduced readers of the TMA to this monthly cycle.
Morin's method of determination, which is the foundation of his system, relies on astrological houses to show how influences enter individual lives. The method highlights the Ascendant as the basis of down-to-earth astrology.
How can we extend the method of the composite chart to more than two people? Unfortunately, the situation in this case is more complicated. Two techniques are at our disposal which result in different charts. With two people only, they result in the same chart: the ordinary two-person composite chart.
Could astrology help us to understand what lies behind the huge popularity of the Virgin of Guadalupe? Is it possible to get a meaningful horoscope from a legend? In the following discussion, I will sketch out some ideas from my book, The Secret Codes to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Many astrologers and users of astrology are now concerned with the question which consequences the degradation of Pluto has for astrology. Do we have to exclude Pluto from our charts? Do we have to interpret it differently? Are Astrodienst's horoscopes still valid? To say it clearly: There is no reason for being concerned. The understanding which astrologers have gained about the astrological effect of Pluto since its discovery in 1930 is not changed by the new astronomical definition.
The position of Chiron's orbit, placed between Saturn and Uranus, is rather special. In spite of all attempts at classification, Chiron has, as it were, taken on the role of a planet. His path is severely eccentric, like that of Symbol of ChironPluto, so that he occasionally crosses the orbits of both Saturn and Uranus. Most astrologers regard him as a sort of "mediator" between these two, and as a link between the "Guardian of the Spheres" (Saturn) and the outer planets.
In the beginning was the Great Goddess, and the Goddess was the Earth, and the Earth was the Goddess. Lilith - Sumerian ReliefThe origins of the cult of the Great Goddess lie hidden in the dim twilight of prehistoric time. The Goddess ruled for hundreds of thousands of years. In the course of time, the Mother-Goddess was overthrown and driven under, and the triumph of the most patriarchal of archetypes - Jahwe, God the Father, Allah - was complete in the Judaic, Christian and Moslem worlds.
Harmonic horoscopes are based on principles of resonance, like overtones, which are present in every horoscope. The whole zodiac (360°) is taken as the basic tone, representing the number one (1). By using a higher vibration, we can 'cause' the circle to oscillate more quickly, so to speak, and investigate which planets work together in this particular pattern.
What modern psychiatrists describe as MPD, is - and this is our claim - not a special case in the development of the human psyche, but simply an outwardly noticeable view of what goes on inside every single one of us.
At astronomy's high point in antiquity during the hellenistic age from around 200 BC - 200 AD, the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere was situated on the border between the fixed star constellations of Aries and Pisces. Astrologers at the time divided the circle of the ecliptic into twelve equal segments of 30° using this zero-point as a frame of reference.
At first sight, with superficial reasoning, the rectification, or correction, of a given birth time seems appropriate and necessary: We certainly do need an exact and reliable basis for any astrological interpretation. However, none of the diverse methods of rectification provides the desired safety or assurance.
Dramatic horoscope changes can occur when we relocate, but there are also subtle ones. For instance, if you move only a short distance and yet that move has altered your house system such that it shifts your Sun or your Moon into another house, that is important.
The first consideration before delving into the symbolism of the luminaries is that they each in their symbolic self are not confined to one or other parent. To relegate the Sun to the father and the Moon to the mother at best oversimplifies the imagery and at worst distorts completely our understanding of the full human person.
Because we are exploring the half-Uranus cycle as the gateway to midlife¿s transition, the sign Uranus is in natally secrets characteristics of the opposite sign as its ¿unlived life¿. When any planet in transit comes to the opposition point to itself in the natal chart, a half-cycle is noted.
How can we find a profession that really fits our needs? How can we recognise our true vocation? It is not always easy to find the right job because in many cases circumstances confront us with difficulties that influence our choice.
The plants symbolise harmony and plenty, the rocks and stones stand for space and energy, and sand and gravel give simplicity and serenity. These considerations led me to develop the concept of astrological garden design. The garden offers the opportunity to physically represent the ancient principles and archetypes inherent in nature.
Astrology and Tarot are popular parlour games. All lovers are happy when their "star signs" make a good match or when they draw card "No.6-The Lovers"in a Tarot session.Which Tarot card corresponds to which planet or zodiac sign? Different astrologers and Tarot players have their individual assignments, but unfortunately, they are all different!
For decades, researchers have been baffled by the intricate bronze mechanism of wheels and dials created 80 years before the birth of Christ. The "Antikythera Mechanism" was discovered damaged and fragmented on the wreck of a cargo ship off the tiny Greek island of Antikythera in 1900.
It is a book that apparently deals with 'the others' - with psychopaths, madmen and scapegoats. And yet, the reader can feel that this also concerns him or her, and thus the book becomes highly personal.
The opening sequences of Gladiator, with their violence, cruelty, and display of the might of a ruthless war machine, may well seem shocking and offensive, not to mention glaringly politically incorrect, to an astrologer more concerned with spiritual and psychological development.
Human relationships are a complex theme. Richard Idemon is exploring it with brilliance and humanity in his book "Through the Looking Glass". In his view relationships are looking glasses/mirrors of our own unfolding process as individuals.
