I'm a paradox myself: the goody-two-shoes Virgo and the unruly Aquarius. Without contradictions there are no complementarities. Life is a paradox, as it contains both deaaaath and proooogress. Your astrological natal chart (NC) shows the MC’s continuous advancement and the IC’s constant surrender. Or the AC’s relentless hope defying the rivalry and challenges of the DC.
Paradox fosters growth and development. Paradox is an even number paired with an odd number, the goals and attributes of which are quite different: 5 is free-spirited and bold, the transgressor; 6 is traditional, domestic, devoted, the helper.
Sequential zodiac signs are also a paradox, always conflicting: if you have Sun and Moon in Cancer and Leo, your life theme, your lingo, is to show up and vanish. The challenge here is to know the right moment. If you have Sagittarius and Scorpio, it is about verboseness and muteness. These also have their appropriate moments. By the way, that's a duo that will have lived the Inquisition in past lives... Signs in quadruplicity, another paradox: Gemini, the lawyer advocating his/her own self-interest; Pisces the savior of the weak and oppressed. It goes on and on, like an androgyny, where Male (M) and Female (F) become one within us - as the pinnacle of self-fulfillment, the inner Cosmos itself. Or the euphoria and depression bipolarity - which by the way is probably the result of a domestic stress, an inner duality of choices, daddy or mommy.
Paradox stimulates intelligence, despite the existential crises, in case there is guilt and so forth. As you know, Plato once said: during times of crises, call for the mad, for they are the creators of inspiration.
Scorpio, soi même, is a paradox: angel and demon, like
If you have a paradox in your natal chart, it means you have: the DUTY to develop your intelligence to SOLVE the dilemmas. For a peaceful life will NEVER be conceivable, however, on the other hand, there will be expansion of consciousness (come hell or high water), evolution, paranormality (Extrasensory perception - ESP), that will incite your awareness, and with that comes maturity from growth and innocence is lost. Or anxiety, hysteria, disintegration.
Obviously, paradox is the result of your ancestors’ unique fates (e.g. war immigrants, poverty, etc. and at the same time the nostalgia of terra mater or what could have been).
Knowing the past is to know the future, since there is no tomorrow without a yesterday.
There's a critical paradox:
Venus wants to be accepted by strangers; Moon wants to be part of an intimate circle. What now? Go out with strangers or stick to your crowd?
Should I stay or should I go? You need to combine both situations, otherwise you'll suffer for e-ter-ni-ty. They're two fates/paths. Living both WITHOUT feelings of guilt so that you won’t stumble into depression and become paralyzed.
Here's another critical paradox:
Sun, the husband and legal companion. Mars in fire, the lover, who will also feel restless if not seen. There is bound to be suffering if you think you need to pick. The stars in your natal chart give you a clue (they do not care about social conventions): master the situation, don’t choose. Wisely, polyamory unions in the 21st century have already been decreed.
It all depends on each person’s needs. A need is something that fascinates and captivates you, as the Greeks have known for a long time It sustains life. Only the dead have no needs. Your soul incarnated out of necessity. Maybe your needs are a paradox and, above all, creative, challenging and thrilling.
Paradox is an infidelity, of course. There are dilemmas and shortcomings that require complements, advances, fulfillments.
Humanity is by nature unfaithful, as it strides from the 3rd Dimension to the 4th Dimension. Humanity does NOT hold on to one thing, it BECOMES another. And we become another with it. None of us will stay the same, but we'll all certainly become.
Learn how to tackle your paradox: know how to mold something according to your ideals and interests. From there on out, create something that is worth it (because the soul is not a teeny-tiny thing!*).
Anything that is vital to you will last, stay. Be it for good or for bad. Therefore, feeling the ABSENCE of something is extremely and painfully POWERFUL.
A POWER so great that its outrageous dissatisfaction will drive you:
a) positively, to pursue it, thus accelerating your life. Everything moves faster and you will feel ALIVE.
b) negatively, it slows down your life, misleads your soul.
Therefore, Absence can cure or kill.
It’s your choice.
(This was the summary of the lecture I gave at the 2012 Astrology Symposium. January/2013)
