France’s ‘sensitive’ degree may hold the clue to the victor in the approaching French presidential election.
The year 2016 will be remembered, among many other things, for Donald Trump’s “unexpected” victory in the US presidential election, my successful forecast of which was republished in the Jan-Feb 2017 issue of The Astrological Journal. Trump’s success could be an early indicator of the tailwind for the French National Front – the ultra-right, nationalist political party led by Marine Le Pen.
In the Mar-Apr 2016 issue of The Astrological Journal [‘The Paris Attacks and 21° Aquarius’] I noted that France (and its capital Paris) is ‘sensitive’ to 21° Aquarius. I ended my piece with the remark that on 11 February 2017 there is the lunar eclipse at 22° Leo, and France will be “called out”: the first round of the presidential election is held on 23 April, and the second on 7 May.
Here, I look at the charts of some of the main candidates and the possible signs of victory or loss around the topic of 21° Aquarius.
In the First French Republic’s horoscope Uranus at 22° Leo in the 10th house (country’s reputation) opposes Pluto (which rules Ascendant in Scorpio) at 21° Aquarius, the degree I associate with Paris. Quite certainly, the lunar eclipse on 11 February 2017 strongly indicates radical change because it touches a fixed t-square with Mars as the central planet at 29° Scorpio. Uranus rules the Moon at 11° Aquarius, which describes a woman revolutionary, while Mars at 29° Scorpio ‘lives’ inside Pluto, so this is also the long-awaited action.
Secondary Moon of the First French Republic will then be at 0° Taurus 57’ in conjunction with retrograde secondary Mercury (votes) at 0° Taurus 11’, conjoining Saturn (conservative) at 0° Taurus 37’ in the 6th house (‘working class’). Secondary Mercury will turn direct – this is a possible suggestion of the French electorate changing its mind at the last moment and voting. Saturn rules the 4th house and speaks of the political opposition (which Marine Le Pen represents); and the 4th is associated with the countryside, indicating that the people (Moon) of France may be more inclined towards the ‘conservatives’, and that the votes of the working class will be crucial. The [secondary Moon] at 0° [Taurus] is also an indication of great changes and a new beginning.
In Marine Le Pen’s birth chart, Ascendant is in Libra, and the ruler Venus is at 25° Leo. Venus also rules her pre-natal eclipse at 23° Libra 20’ (North Node of Fifth French Republic is at 22° Libra 20') which was lunar (i.e. something not finished in the previous life). So, the 11 February eclipse at 22° Leo will touch her Venus and open an important phase for this woman. Through disposition (Sun at 13° Leo), her Venus goes to angular 10th house (reputation), where Mercury is positioned, together with Mars at 29° Cancer (making a trine with Mars at 29° Scorpio from the First French Republic’s chart). At the moment of eclipse her progressed Sun will be at 29° Virgo 59’, which is a very strong indication of change. Only days after the eclipse, on 18 February 2017, her progressed Sun will be at 0° Libra 00’ in conjunction with IC of the Fifth French Republic (the present Republic), activating the MC at 0° Aries! This powerfully suggests that Le Pen undergoes raised importance in the country.
The last degree of Virgo might be very significant for her, because her first post-natal eclipse was a solar one (a beginning) at 29° Virgo 30’. Also, when the Treaty of Rome came into force (1 January 1958, midnight, Brussels), establishing the forerunner of today’s European Union, the Ascendant was at 29° Virgo.
Is the last degree here the “signal” of the starting point of decline and fall of the EU? Shall Marine Le Pen “pull the strings” and bring the EU into question? In the French presidential election first round on 23 April, the secondary Moon of the First French Republic will be at 3° Taurus 36’ in conjunction with the MC of the European Union — this could be read as “some French woman impacting on the EU’s reputation!”
Certainly a big change in France is announced by the Fifth Republic’s MC coming to 0° Gemini 22’. Le Pen’s progressed Sun at 0°Libra will touch the IC/MC axis of the Fifth French Republic (0° Libra/0° Aries), but will also trine secondary MC at 0° Gemini (which is in sextile with natal MC at 0°Aries). Perhaps the most important indicator – from the point of view of my research work (‘sensitive degrees’) – is the position of the secondary Moon (woman/people in the country) of the Fifth French Republic during the second round of the presidential election: 21° Leo 01’, activating 21° Aquarius, and Pluto (big change) from the chart of the First French Republic.
The last degree of Scorpio may be very important, because on the day of the second round (7 May 2017, 07:00 a.m., Paris) the Ascendant will be exactly at 29° Taurus, also indicating the change, and here will be found the star cluster Pleiades, known also as “Weeping Sisters” – Marine Le Pen is the youngest of three sisters.
Finally, the current solar return of the First French Republic has the Moon at 13° Leo 21’, in tight conjunction with the Sun of Marine Le Pen at 13° Leo 02’. This could be read that she will make her mark in the nation’s history in this year. In the second round of the election, Jupiter will be retrograde (14° Libra 50’) at the Ascendant of Marine Le Pen (15° Libra 29’). Her Mercury at 10° Leo 46' (dispositor of Jupiter) makes a sextile with her Ascendant, so the transit of Jupiter across her Ascendant at the moment of the election will surely help her.
Fillon also has his Ascendant in Libra (11° Libra 46’), and the transit of Jupiter across his Ascendant at election-time will help him as well. But, Marine Le Pen has a stronger conjunction of tr Jupiter with Ascendant at the election. The lunar eclipse of 11 February at 22° Leo ‘moves’ his Pluto (which conjoins Marine Le Pen’s Venus); but Pluto rules his 3rd house, while Le Pen’s Venus rules her Ascendant: certainly a more important chart area (angular house).
Then, the solar eclipse on 26 February at 8° Pisces moves his Moon (ruler of 10th) at 9° Pisces 42'. But, at the moment of election, no progressed or solar arc body will ‘touch’ either natal or progressed charts of the French Republic, while in the case of Marine Le Pen there are clear indications.
Valls has Sun at 20° Leo 32’ which links him with France (21° Aquarius). The 11 February lunar eclipse will ‘move’ his Sun in the 7th house. His secondary axis 1/7 is at the eclipse on 21° Taurus/21° Scorpio and square 21° Aquarius and his natal Sun: all this indicates developments getting cut halfway for him.
His secondary MC moves to 0° Aquarius, the sign of a possible beginning. Also Saturn, as ruler of his post-natal eclipse, is this year positioned in his solar arc directions chart at 0° Aries, which is the very same spot of the MC of the Fifth French Republic. His natal Saturn (as well as his solar arc Saturn) is in tight conjunction with South Node (possible losses) in the 12th house, but in his domicile, Aquarius; while the natal Sun of Marine Le Pen is in Leo (also in domicile), but in the 10th house (angular).
Also, asteroid Paris was on 19° Cancer at Marine Le Pen’s birth on 5 August 1968, right on her MC. For that day, the secondary Moon in the Treaty of Rome chart was at 7° Libra, the very same spot asteroid Paris will be on 7 May 2017. Transiting Moon will be at 5° Libra, and during that day it will cross 7° Libra! All this speaks in favour of Le Pen.
So, Le Pen and Valls move the axis 0° Libra/0° Aries — axis 4/10 from the chart of the Fifth French Republic.
If we take a look at the secondary progressions of the Treaty of Rome for 7 May 2017 (second round of election), we find it at 25° Leo 40', which is the spot occupied by Venus (ruler of Ascendant) of Marine Le Pen - 25° Leo 43'. Solar arc Ascendant in the Treaty of Rome horoscope comes at 29° Scorpio in conjunction with Mars from the chart of the First French Republic, and in conjunction with secondary Fortune of Marine Le Pen.
At the end, I must say that 0° of any cardinal sign carries potential for great instability, and it is certain that its activation will open many issues in the world. I have mapped Turkey at 0° Libra, the country that was and always will be the symbol of instability.
