Biography
Italian screenwriter, film theoretician and novelist, a former journalist and publisher of short stories in the early '30s. He wrote his first screenplay in 1935 and became a key figure of the '40s of neo-realism with some of the most important productions of the movement. As a writer of novels and scripts, he collaborated on scores of scripts for major Italian films. His noted works include "The Bicycle Thief," "Miracle in Milan" and "Two Women," all of them written and produced in his later years.
