Biography
German architect, painter, art critic, author and Professor in the Academy of Arts of Berlin in 1829. He superintended the excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii and became noted as an architect of many fine villas and houses in the U.K. and U.S. in the Pompeian style. Some of his other works were hand crafted, cast and contributed fine bronze and silver vases for the Museum Borbonico. Zahn wrote a book on Pompeii art.
He died in Berlin 8/22/1871.
