Biography
American pro athlete, a baseball player who began his career in 1939 with the Washington Senators and retired his career in 1963 as a member of the Cleveland Indians. He won the Cy Young Award in 1959; that same year he was named Major League Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
