Biography
American bandleader, the King of Jazz during the big-band era. He discovered and featured future stars such as Bing Crosby and Dinah Shore. Whiteman started as a symphony first violinist. After serving in the Navy in WW I, he moved into the field of pop music.
Whiteman died 12/29/1967, Doylestown, PA.
