Biography
Austrian novelist, playwright and poet whose early work criticized the militaristic philosophy of the 1900's. At the time of his birth, Prague was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. His works include "The Pure In Heart," 1931 and "The Song of Bernadette," 1942. In 1940, he moved to the U.S.
Werfel died on 8/26/1945, Beverly Hills, CA.
