Biography
American military man who served as a general in the Revolutionary War and built Fort Wayne, Indiana. After leaving the army, he was recalled into the service to lead the Americans against hostile Indians. Wayne defeated the Indians on 8/20/1794 and also negotiated Indian treaties in Ohio.
In politics, he served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Georgia from 1791-1792.
Wayne died on 12/15/1796, Presque Isle, PA.
