Biography
American victim of hazing. Blind in one eye, the young man was a high school freshman when he became a victim of hazing just before football practice and suffered severe injury. In an incident that occurred on September 14, 2004 in Sandwich, MA, he lost his spleen when an upper classman yanked his ankles out from under him. Young Watterson hit the ground so hard that it ruptured his spleen. The boy somehow walked off the field and past his coach who had just arrived at the practice. But a trainer who examined him after the incident saw that the injury was serious and called his mother and they rushed him to the hospital where his spleen was removed. As a consequence of the hazing prank, he has to have routine immunizations and regular antibiotics and faces great risk of dying from bacterial infection.
