German opera singer, a tenor, he made his professional debut in Stuttgart, Germany in 1954. He toured internationally and was scheduled to make his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in October 1966. However, just a few weeks before he could capture the hearts of New Yorkers, and a week before his 36th birthday, he died from injuries sustained in a fall on September 17, 1966 in Heidelberg.
