Biography
Italian film director and set designer, one of the most celebrated in a quartet of directors who have dominated Italian films from the post-war era. Of his historical and costume dramas, his films include, "Death in Venice," "Boccaccio '70" and "The Leopard." Visconti's first film as a director came in 1941 and was called "Obsession," and he also was a director of plays.
Visconti died of a cardiac problem and influenza on 3/17/1976, Rome, Italy.
