French attorney, born in Thailand to the doctor Raymond Vergès (Vietnamian mother), one of France's most notorious lawyers. Decorated for his involvement in the résistance in WWII, he was a left-wing advocate. He graduated from law school in 1954, first in his class. Verges was defense attorney for the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN), the Nazi Klaus Barbi, Carlos ‘’The Jackal’’, Marlon Brando's daughter Cheyenne, and more high-profile cases.

He married his first militant client, Djamila Bouhired. Author of "La Face Cachée du Procès Barbie," 1983, and more.

He died on 15 August 2013, at 20.30, in Paris.
