Biography

French-born artist and cartoonist, he became the illustrator for France-Dimanche. In addition, he created a strip for France-Soir entitled "Crime Does Not Pay." His comic strip "Asterix" is one of the most popular in France.

On September 27, 2011 at age 84, he announced his immediate retirement from the Asterix comic strip.
