Slavic-American actress, a star of the stage for 60 years, known for her big voice and flamboyant dress and jewels. Among her popular songs were "Some of These Days," and "I'm the Last of the Red Hot Mamas."

Penfield Collection quotes her autobiography, "Some of These Days," for the date, with a time of 12:00 PM. LMR quotes the same book, 1945, p.1, "Born on the road, somewhere from Russia across Poland to the Baltic, traveling in a covered wagon ..... three months old when we reached Boston." She did not know either the date or place of her birth, let alone the time. World Book Encyclopedia obit gives 1884. "Famous People" gives January 13, 1888.
