Mikhail Tsvet


Russian-Italian botanist who invented adsorption chromatography (the collective term for a set of laboratory techniques for the separation of mixtures). His last name is Russian for both "colour" and "flowering." He died on 26 June 1919.

Woelm, 1954), p. 27: "Michael Tswett' s birth certificate can be inspected in the ,,Ufficio dello Stato" of the city of Asti (Piemont, Italy]; in it he is described as Michele De Zevett. Michael was born at 11.30 am on the 14th May 1872."
