According to the New York Times article quoted in the source notes, "A spokesman for the hospital said that the girls were born at one minute
intervals beginning at 2:58 P.M. They weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce, 4 pounds 9
1/2 ounces and 5 pounds 8 ounces. At a surprise 30th birthday party in June, Mr. Thomas confided to friends that his wife was expecting twins. A spokesman said that it was only in the last week that it became known that triplets were on the way."
