Biography
Australian adventurer and record-holder, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1992. From an early age, he enjoyed physically challenging exploits, becoming at age 18, the first Australian to conquer New Zealand's Arthur's Pass Circuit, a feat he accomplished in just two days.
The adventurer's startlingly admirable records including climbing the west wall of New South Wales' Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains 22 times in just 12 hours and for crossing all of Australia's deserts on foot and without support. His polar expedition earned him another record when he walked without support from the Western edge of Berkner Island to the geographic South Pole.
Not content with setting records in mountaineering, conquering deserts, and polar expeditions, he has also set records in ocean kayaking, driving, canyoning, caving, abseiling, canoeing, rafting and various other sports.
In 1991, he canoed alone on Cape York's Archer River, a crocodile-invested waterway. One of the crocodiles destroyed Treseder's canoe
but Treseder managed to get out of the river alive and then ran 250 kilometers to the nearest settlement.
