Biography
American actress of theater, radio dramas, TV and film. Joining a theater group right out of high school, she started playing in radio dramas in 1930, moving up to lead and second lead roles in film and TV. A versatile actress, she often portrayed the hardened, humorless "hard boiled" type. Her more than 25 films include "Main Street After Dark" and "The Postman Always Rings Twice" as well as the TV series "Our Man Higgins."
She went into semi-retirement after leaving MGM in the late '40s and came out of retirement in 1972 to appear regularly in the TV series "Medical Center."
Source Notes
Paul Rosner quotes her "around 1:30 PM."
