Biography

Brazilian actress, whose mother, Fernanda Montenegro, is considered by many to be the greatest Brazilian actress of all time. In the film "The Flash and Crash Days," Torres starred opposite her mother in a critically acclaimed performance. She has appeared in more than 20 films, both in Brazil and abroad.

One of two children born to Fernando Torres, an actor, producer and director, she had a brother, Claudio. When she was 13, she began her acting career, working primarily in theater. Her feature film debut and first leading role were in the movie "Innocence." She won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1986 for her performance in "Love Me and Love Me Forever." Her debut in an American film was in "One Man’s War," co-starring with Anthony Hopkins, and in 1989, she returned to her roots in the theater, starring in Virginia Woolf’s "Orlando."

Torres does more than act as she also spends time behind the camera. She teamed up with her brother to do the screenwriting for "Diabolic," in which she also performed. She branched into producing with the theatrical production of "5 X Comedy," and together with four other comedic actors, she did stand-up comedy for the show.

She is married to Andrucha Waddington, a director, and has a son, Joaquim.
